WHAT IS AN ODEX FILE?
In Android file system, applications come in packages with the extension .apk. These application packages, or APKs contain certain .odex files whose supposed function is to save space. These ‘odex’ files are actually collections of parts of an application that are optimized before booting. Doing so speeds up the boot process, as it preloads part of an application. On the other hand, it also makes hacking those applications difficult because a part of the coding has already been extracted to another location before execution.
THEN COMES DEODEX
Deodexing is basically repackaging of these APKs in a certain way, such that they are reassembled into classes.dex files. By doing that, all pieces of an application package are put together back in one place, thus eliminating the worry of a modified APK conflicting with some separate odexed parts.
In summary, Deodexed ROMs (or APKs) have all their application packages put back together in one place, allowing for easy modification such as theming. Since no pieces of code are coming from any external location, custom ROMs or APKs are always deodexed to ensure integrity.
HOW THIS WORKS
For the more geeky amongst us, Android OS uses a Java-based virtual machine for running applications, called the Dalvik Virtual Machine. A deodexed, or .dex file contains the cache used by this virtual machine (referred to as Dalvik-cache) for a program, and it is stored inside the APK. An .odex file, on the other hand, is an optimized version of this same .dex file that is stored next to the APK as opposed to inside it. Android applies this technique by default to all the system applications.
Now, when an Android-based system is booting, the davlik cache for the Davlik VM is built using these .odex files, allowing the OS to learn in advance what applications will be loaded, and thus speeds up the booting process.
By deodexing these APKs, a developer actually puts the .odex files back inside their respective APK packages. Since all code is now contained within the APK itself, it becomes possible to modify any application package without conflicting with the operating system’s execution environment.
ADVANTAGES & DISADVANTAGES
The advantage of deodexing is in modification possibilities. This is most widely used in custom ROMs and themes. A developer building a custom ROM would almost always choose to deodex the ROM package first, since that would not only allow him to modify various APKs, but also leave room for post-install theming.
On the other hand, since the .odex files were supposed to quickly build the dalvik cache, removing them would mean longer initial boot times. However, this is true only for the first ever boot after deodexing, since the cache would still get built over time as applications are used. Longer boot times may only be seen again if the dalvik cache is wiped for some reason.
For a casual user, the main implication is in theming possibilities. Themes for android come in APKs too, and if you want to modify any of those, you should always choose a dedoexed custom ROM.

[STOCK ROM]I747UCALEM-CWM flashable stock, rooted, deodexed -7/18/12

I wanted to put together a flashable stock ROM for themers and devs to use for whatever purpose they wish. This is based on mrRobinson's root-injected I747 UCALEM system.img (Thank you sir). I have de-odexed, zip-aligned, and left all the glorious AT&T bloat inside. This will not wipe data but it will wipe dalvik cache and media cache so if you flash over a stock install you should not end up with duplicates in gallery, etc.
This is specifically for AT&T and I have no idea what happens if flashed to another carrier phone.
Updated Google apps, Superuser, and added stock boot.img.
Primary Download
CWM Flasher for SMemo and SMemoProvider (Not needed if flashing the above)
Thank you so much. Let the AT&T theming begin...
finally, a totally stock ROM, just deodexed. thanks for making my life much easier!

gave you thanks over there. will have to find them in a deodexed ROM, or just have odexed, which would be weird. ultimatum doesn't have it and i doubt diet ics does either. maybe i can find it in a Sprint/T-Mo ROM lol jeez
edit: actually, SMemo is still in there, but it's missing the odex for the provider lol
edit: will PM you mate, just need those files now, all 4, and i'll make a flashable
Damn, you're right. SMemo should be in /system/app but for some reason it's not showing up as an installed app. That was one of the apks that was giving me fits when de-odexing so I left it and it's odex file in there (Slidehow.apk was the other one).
I'll have to look into that.

I just downloaded the GAPPS for cm10 and extracted the necessary files and put them into the /system/app directory and all is working now.

I had take a look to all ROMs based on stock. The most move the apps to /system/app folder and the rest used the samsung way by place some app in preload so I had write new code to symlink the app from preload to system.
The ROM is debloated so there is no effect on ROM speed and app loaded at boot but If the system is full that will slowdown the device and eat more ram.

[ROM][KIW-L24][B140} No Swap - Stock DeBloated Rom

Welcome to the Stock DeBloated Rom
This is a Stock Rom with the no swap script installed along with Busybox / Root / AdAway and some other goodies
This is all possible because of the hard work from others on the forum.
Version r3 is now Up .. with more build.prop tweaks. If you downloaded / flashed the first one or second one you can dirty flash this one
Customrom.Nova is updated to R4 with a fix for the Google play bug
Thanks @EarlyMon for pointing me in the right direction.
R4 added open_gapps-arm64-5.1-nano-20160320
Huge thanks to @paulobrien for the Custom ROM starter template that was the base of the entire rom
More thanks go to @deadman96385 for his debloat script and all his work on TWRP
And of course Thanks to @EarlyMon for the no swap script that makes the whole phone Fly
I almost forgot, Thanks to @elry567 for helping me Test the Rom before release
Download Here
Install:
It's best to do a factory reset / wipe before the first install
It may work ok with a Dirty Flash but i can't support it if you do
That's about it, Wipe / Install rom / Enjoy
Note: If you get errors with Google Play store I had to format my sdcard with the phone and set the phones storage from internal to sdcard. I don't know why this happens but this does fix it.
Mine Too
If this is a flashable zip without modem files , it should work well with L21 and L22 too . Am gonna test it on L22 . I know it works for sure

Try to unmount SD card and then download the app, I had this problem before it's something with the SD card

It din't worked on L22 , But I tried few changes overall .
There were system mount errors with L22 with that zip and even I removed lines for mounting and unmounting system and then removed custom folder not to restore , reflashed the updated zip by manual mounting all partitions .
It flashed successfully but failed to boot and its rebooting to twrp .
I think boot image isn't getting flashed along with system .
Let me try again by manual flashing boot next to zip .
But 99% chances were it should work but what might had gone wrong ?
And u said its B140 , It shows B130 in its build.prop .
Can someone plz also make this available for L21

This is a stock ROM dear. You will find no change in the UI .
Wow there is a big difference in the speed in this ROM, RAM management seems better too. Nice work thanks for making this

you can build this yourself with the links in the first post
the Custom rom template is based on L21 so it should be even easier
I did ad the pulled /data folder but if you follow what I did in the first post you should end up with the same result.

What if instead of using the template, i simply use the debloat script by deadman, and the no swap script on the stpck rom.... Would that work as in the same manner??

can you edit out the quote of the first post please.
I think the L22 kernel is the problem. I tried doing some tweaks that were designed for L22 and they don't work on my phone because of the kernel differences. As for the mount points it should not matter as the script uses "/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name" and it should be universal.
As for the B130 in build prop I'm lost how that happened. The settings/about screen shows it's B140 so not sure whats up their.

yes it will ... I edited the debloat script to leave some apps I use (notepad, Maps, YouTube, Email, themes and others) I can post the edited script if you want it.

Alright bro , may be am the one and only user to see b140 ROM on L22 currently .
Made few modifications and successfully booted your ROM on my L22 .
Cheers and credits to you .
I think you'll all find that the properties -
- ro.build.description
- ro.build.fingerprint
Are going to be different on each variant and if you don't have the KIW-L24 and care about that, you're going to want to build the version for your rom as @clsA said earlier.
Nice job compadre, glad to see the speed spreading!!

[ROM][PIE]OnePlus H2OS[H930/JOAN]

OnePlus H2OS
This ROM i made it for a long time, but it's first time share on the XDA hope you enjoy it.
IMPORTANT: VENDOR PARTITION NEEDED BEFORE FLASHING!
Make sure you have VENDOR PARTITION on your device before flashing the rom or else you will get boot loop or brick. You can check the forum for how to enable vendor partition or treble on your device.
HOW TO MAKE VENDOR?
Use this file for creating vendor Partition by flash in twrp.
Make backup first before flashing.
Flash zip, go to wipe and advance, select resize partition, then select vendor, choose where you want to create the vendor partition from( system recommend, and also the size should be 512 and above)
After creating the vendor partition, reboot recovery and format system, vendor and caches. Now you can flash rom.(copy from miui11 port same work on H2OS)
The vendor zip is here:https://1drv.ms/u/s!ArSQ9UltpYJiuQsXTObSAjJZbJtI?e=8MX9JA
How to Flash this rom?
1.unzip this rom
2.Flash IMG to the SYSTEM/VENDOR/BOOT
3.Reboot and enjoy
