Quick charge 3.0 - Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact Questions & Answers

Hi guys apologies if this has been asked and answered already.
I am currently contemplating buying a Sony Xperia xz2 compact and I am told it supports quick charge 3.0 but is not supplied with quick charge adaptor or cable out of the box.
My question is has anyone purchased a quick charger 3.0 for their Xperia and how long does a full 0-100 quick charge take.
Thanks.

What I don't understand is the Snapdragon 845 supports QuickCharge 4+ so I don't understand why they only support Quickcharge 3 on the XZ2 phones

I think it was my M2 or M4 Aqua which said xx Quick Charge works with, but I bought a higher up Quick Charge charger - and it was definitely working with it. I used the chip as a guide to see if it's capable, took a risk on a charger, and it paid off. I deduced that Sony was playing around with marketing, only showing that the premium devices were compatible, but if the chip supports it, the chip supports it. I posted tests of 10 minute intervals using the in-box charger and the Quick Charger. Qualcomm says the OEM can enable or disable by software. Perhaps it's not so straight forward as just marketing games then.
If someone is actually using a Quick Charge 4.0 charger we could get straight to it. I plan to buy one shortly.

What they claim and what the reality of support are 2 different things. Rapidly charging your battery is not a good thing, and it has nothing to do with battery deterioration. Same thing about anyone using any sort of battery banks. Whether it supports power delivery or any version + of quick charge just brings more distraction/interference rather than less.

ZenPower (ASUS PowerBank)

Got my ZenPower. The 1st credit card size 10050mAh power bank. ?
Not sure w/ the price for other countries but it'll be released in the Philippines for 795php soon. ?
Looks great! It seems it will be around 1k in India (currency conversion).
Looking forward to get one
So how many hours does the power bank take to fully charge? How many full cycles does it give with ZenFone 2?
Was going to order one from the ASUS US site.... but they wanted to charge me $14 for ground shipping. If these pop up on Amazon or Newegg I'll be all over it.
One question though.... does it super quick charge?
The Power bank takes 9 hours to be fully charged with 5v/1A. 6 hours with 5v/2A.
It provides an output of 5.1v/2.4A for fast charging.
You can check asus website for more info.
http://www.asus.com/ph/Phones/ASUS_ZenPower/
Where dyou bought that? Is it out now here in Philippines?
Sent from my ASUS_Z00AD using Tapatalk
Bought an Aukey powerbank with quick charge 2.0 (10,000 mah). Zenpower doesn't have quick charge so pretty useless, as it fully charges the phone 3-4 hours.

How much is it swiftden?

Bought it at Amazon, $29.99 and sent it here via Johnny Air. There is one available locally at OLX, but it is P2,500. HTH. ? planning to sell quick chargers really soon at TipidCP. Stay tuned. ?

Base on original charger of zenfone2, the specs is 5V/1.35A.
My question is, do Zenfone2 (ZE551ML) supports the charging output of zenpower (5.1V/2.4A)?
Thus, this charging process will be over-volt or over-amp to this phone?

I believe there are programs in play store that shows the voltage and amper current while charging. Another way to tell is by using a timer. This power bank is quick charge compatibe and nothing higher than 2.4a in one usb port exists yet.
I want someone to test the 5V ZenPower 10K mAh power bank, does it really output 2.4A? I know if you open the phone and look at the heatsink stickers, it says 9V 2A or 5V 1.35A. Timing charge time with a 5V Wall adapter vs 5V ZenPower bank (Should be faster)

Bought one on ebay for 25.99$ from china. Asus is an asian company.
Power bank depends on their quality & batter that how much time it takes to full charge.

quick charger 2.0

I just bought iVoler quick charger to try it because the price was low and the reviews said it was quality made. I Just received this the other day, and I plugged in my Z4 and it said Z4 detected, so it indeed does support the Qualcomm Quick Charging feature! Charging was fast and held strong with my Z4. Charging the battery from 0 to 25% in about 19 minutes. And the 6 foot USB cable is of good quality and really nice. It also fits into my Z4 with a nice click, and fits well around my case. I will definitely buy more of these!
The great product need to be shared.

@david870325, would you mind installing Ampere (Play Store) and supplying us with the charge rate you get?
I get 850mah from my mac, 1100 from my Tronsmart QC2.0 charger. I'm also trying out a new kernel this afternoon, to see if that affects charge speeds.
I think this number should actually be higher as well....

Hello everybody. I am new.
I own a Z3+, mono-sim, E6553.
If I got it correctly the phone is certified to be compatible with Qualcomm Quick Charge Technology 2.0, at least the mono-sim card model.
I bought an Aukey Quick Charger (model PA-T9, Qualcomm certified and it supports up to Quick Charge 3.0) but it doesn't seem to be very effective.
Total recharge time is still around 2 hours, I experienced a slightly better performance while in the middle of the charge (about 10 percent points better if compared to standard charger performance) but the improvement is not as good as it was claimed. I checked with Ampere App and it takes around 800-1100 mA, which is the same result I obtain with the standard charger.
Until now I only did a limited number of tests, with the phone turned on and starting from 10% battery level (without using the phone or turning the screen on). I am still a little disappointed.
Anybody else here that rely upon Quick Charge and is not satisfied? What could I possibly do? Is this a problem of the charger ( although it works fine with my Asus Zenfone 2 Deluxe) or is it just the best that the phone can do?
I am a little resistant to buy the official Sony UCH10 now; it's expensive and I fear my phone could have a hardware/software problem.
Thanks in advance!

If you have unlocked bootloader, flash zachs latest kernel, and check ampere again, see what happens becouse depends on the kernel.

I have been using a certified quick charger 2.0 for at least a year now with my Z3+.. I usually charge my phone when the battery level is around 15%-20% and it usually takes about 1 hour & 20 minutes to get to 95%-100%, which is reasonable enough for me.. I had my phone turned off most of the time when I charge using the quick charger.. That is because the Z3+ tends to get hot when charging, even more so when using a quick charger.. I would suggest you to try my practice and see if there are any improvements..
i have dual sim and gsm says dual does not support this, what do you think?can i use it?
Xperia Z3 plus DUAL doesn't support Quick charge 2.0
@pou_gh2
I also have Xperia Z3 plus DUAL sim. I knew that XZ3p supports QC2.0. So i bought dual sim variant randomly. But after purchase when i tried to use QC2.0 charger for my phone I found that my phone does not support Quick charge 2.0.
I googled it and found that there are some hardware differences between E6533(dual sim) and E6553(single sim) including
- Quick charge 2.0 support (only single sim)
- Modem LTE Cat6 (single sim only) LTE Cat4 (dual sim)
- etc. (Google it yourself, if you face anything confused)
.
I also saw images of Single sim and Dual sim main PCB on internet. I found that there is actual hardware differences instead of software limitation. So chill up and enjoy 4g on both sims alternatively.

ok ty,btw fast charger in sony devices is not so good bro,for exam quick charger charge a phone in 1.30 and normal charger takes 1.50...test your normal charger and you will see what i say

Quick Charge 2.0?

I know they mentioned fast charging with the usb type c and all but they didn't really say if it's quick charge 2.0 :crying:
I also pre ordered the second it came live and it didn't give me tax, but I had to cancel the order because the shipping address was at the wrong house. Now it made me pay for tax and it came out to be $40
Anyone else have this?
I also want to know this, anyone who can confirm?
Every article and spec list I've seen indicates that it doesn't have quick charge.
USB type c should charge faster than qualcom quick charge 2.0 correct? It does mention fast charging but does not specify
3 amps @ 5 volts. That is equal or greater than a turbo charge with the Nexus 6, so I would say you won't be disappointed.
I want to know this as well, those of us with multiple quick chargers, will they work properly with the 5X?

Spoke to Google Store support and they were clear that its NOT Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 compatible.
They said it uses Fast Charge technology.
I asked if any charger that outputs 3A would charge the device at full speed, but they weren't really sure.
They advised me to contact LG.
I'm hoping my Anker chargers will work with the 5X and save me from having to buy all new accessories.

yes that 's the point / i have a couple of q.c 2.0 / i didnot want to buy more ..
It would be great if we can use the QC 2.0 chargers with a monoprice USB C cable to get fast charging speeds.
Edit: Just looked at USB C cable prices on monoprice and they are almost the same as the google store, maybe a dollar cheaper. No bueno

Pretty sure all fast charging tech is reliant on how low the battery is and as it gets full it slows down.

It charged from 52% to 81% in 30 minutes (61.1%/hr), and another instance it charged from 27% to 90% in 70 minutes. (52.4%/hr). This is without touching the phone (screen off). Also I am not using the cable that the phone came with, not sure if this matters.

After testing, an interesting is that, when you use adapter quick charge (9v-2a), there are two thunder symbol appear on battery i/o one when you use original charge.
I am not sure the timing charge will com shoter. I will do some test and let you now.
But one thig you need to know, your p9 gonna be lag when use the quick charge. I am not sure this fault come from my quick charge adapter or because by itself function

It does not lag here, but you need to have in mind that real quick charge kicks in when screen is off. I see wattage difference in my wall tester the charger uses when I use the phone and while it is idling.

So slow charging ...

Hey guys, i bought a xiaomi mi max 32gb.. i have the original european charge and the official cable .. but the phone charging very slow.. from 20 % to 40 % almost 30 minutes. The phone and the components its new . never opened , tell me what to do please !
Considering this phone has a large battery, it's normal it takes more time to fully change it. Maybe next time get a phone with smaller battery capacity, and then you can charge your phone few times a day. [emoji14]

I'd say that's about the charge rate I'm getting. I've got the Global version with the same European 2Amp charger. I'd have to agree with iJohnny, the 4850mAh battery is a bit of a beast, so it will take longer to charge. 20% battery gives me around 2hrs SOT depending, so it's not all bad!
The MI MAX is compatible with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0. The included charger, however, is a simple USB charger. Buy a Quick Charge 3.0 charger to charge the phone faster.

Yeah. Good and affordable brand in my opinion. I already have android TV box from them and I am very happy. So I decided to get their QC 3.0 charger. Good quality charger, good and long cable in the box.
Google it, and you can even find some videos on YouTube about their charger.
But if you plan on using Xiaomi Eu ROM then you won't have QC 3.0 because it's not enabled in that ROM.

The screen is slightly curved at the side.
I hate this kind of design.

Well I know that. Is there specific tempered glass that can apply perfect on my phone? But not to cover the speakers and cameras. I don't want a universal tempered glass, but only a glass specific for my phone
Now I thinking that while I have a Xiaomi power bank quick charge 3.0 10.000 PLM01ZM. Why the phone can't charge fast ? Some guys told that the battery is too high so if I buy a quick charger 3.0 I will not see any difference right?
Mi Max is not quick charge 3.0.. I know that snap 650/652 is but xiaomi limit this in the kernel, dont know why, only get quick charge 2, with the normal charger takes 4 hours to charge, with my quick charge 3.0 takes 2.5 hours

As Qualcomm has listed it in the PDF, the Xiaomi has paid to have it enabled.
So devices are QC3 enabled as it says in pdf. You just need certified QC3 charger.
