RCS on Nokia 6 (2018) - Nokia 6.1 (2018) Questions & Answers

Somewhat of a specific question: I have T-mobile and am wondering if the Nokia 6 (2018) will support RCS if/when T-mobile rolls out support (supposedly this quarter). I'm using Android Messages and do not see the Chat feature in the Advanced settings which would indicate RCS is supported and enabled.
Thanks!

Correct.
RCS is enabled by default and Google Messages will use it and tells you automaticly about the chat function.
For me it took a few hours before Google Massages told me the RCS chat is working now.

So you are on T-Mobile with a Nokia 6.1 and are using RCS? I still don't have any indication it is using RCS.

Does the messaging app supports RCS?

Does the integrated messaging app com.android.messaging supports RCS?
This is indeed a very interesting question, and I could not find any mention anywhere.
Since RCS is starting to gain popularity, I think it would be important to have an open source client, but I could not find even a reference implementation.
On networks that support the RCS Universal Profile, and on phones with Google's Android Messages, that app shows additional settings pertaining to RCS. If the builtin Messaging app supports any form of RCS, (and you are looking at the code) you might see some indication of something similar (of course, if you're on a supporting network, you might be able to tell within the app itself (settings, presence indicators, etc)). Anybody out there seen such things from the builtin app?
My LOS 17.1 cannot receive RCS messages - and I don't see any options. But the network supports it. Anyone know how to activate RCS on LOS?

RCS messaging

Has anyone, with a carrier who is rolling it out, had RCS messaging enabled on their device? I'm with Vodafone in the UK and it hasn't been enabled for me yet and am unsure if its the device or the fact I'm using LineageOS
No idea about your carrier support, but I think Google enabled it in the stock messenger when they changed the name to Android Messages

Google's Call Screening is supported

I received a spam call this morning but to my surprise I had the option to use Google's Call Screening feature. Originally Pixel devices only supported it alongside a few other devices. I'm very surprised to see Sony supporting it. No automatic screening or advanced spam control settings for it though.
There doesn't seem to be a mention of this support anywhere else, so I'm just putting this out there for anyone who's interested in this phone.
Of course this is using US firmware, where the feature is only available at the moment.
I am in Europe and this feature is available in the settings.

Turn off Chat Features When Switching Phones or Numbers

Just an FYI for those who are unaware. If you are using Google Messages and have the chat features enabled, make sure you switch it off BEFORE switching phones or phone numbers.
Google's RCS is tied to your number not your phone.
I recently changed my phone# and did not realize that I need to turn off the chat features. It caused a few problems. I didn't realize what was going on until a co-worker said he was getting texts from my old number.
Turn Off RCS "Chat" When You Switch Phones or Else...
Now that Verizon has committed to RCS with Google, the three major US carriers are all onboard. RCS is here (unlike 5G) and will be a big part of your messaging experience going forward, assuming you have an Android phone. And while RCS is great and a big improvement on traditional text...
