Does the July security update fix the slow to wake up issue introduced in June? - Google Pixel 2 XL Questions & Answers

Still on May update, never upgraded to June because of this issue. Does the July update fix it?

BTW this wasn't an issue, it was intentional from Google.

Has anyone pulled the update by manually clicking "Check for Updates"? I have hit it multiple times throughout the day as recently as 15 minutes ago and still saying I'm up to date on June. Is this busted again?

I just looked around some more online and found others complaining of the same thing. Perhaps it's working for some but definitely not all. Just hit it again, still nothing.

Hate to hijack the thread, but this is as good a place as any to ask this really simple question of mine:
How do I update to the latest July patch if I'm still on stock May, but rooted with Magisk & Xposed enabled? I'm assuming I can just flash the full factory image zip with fastboot (disabling -w to avoid wipe) and just making sure to remove Magisk/Xposed before hand.

Yeah you can for sure do that when you flash the factory image it will remove magisk and xposed for u.

Thank you for the confirmation. I assumed it would do that, but I'll probably do it myself to make sure nothing goes wrong in the flashing process.

Still slow after July update.

I tried to report the issue to google chat support but those people are useless outside of processing RMAs. 2 different reps told me the update isn't out yet bc it's dated the 5th and had no idea hitting the check for updates button overrides the staged rollout. Ugh.. I reported the issue on the pixel community board so let's see if that gets any traction.

I side loaded it using ADB. For some reason, it takes several days for the update to get to me in June (when prior updates worked after running "check for update").

I think delay is still present in july build as confimred by some users, so i will stay with May Build till now(waiting for fix).

I am still waiting for the July updates....

still haven't recieved July security update OTA for my Pixel 2 XL.

Exactly the same here, thats so odd.. I wonder what is the cause of this, cuz some people got it pretty much instantly when Google released the update.

Here is another update to M6E69B
https://android.googleapis.com/pack.../ea3f22cafa01264ded185bdec71b42821cec2c59.zip
I have no idea what it fixes / enhances / solves. I just got the update notice on my watch and grabbed it.
edit - I cannot see anything new other than the version. Sounds, watchfaces, installed apps, all the same. Let's hope the bugs are fixed, especially bluetooth drops.
Updated to it too. Can't spot any diffrences.
Someone on Reddit says it is a security update. Nothing else shows on Google Search.

Was hoping this update fixed the pairing issue on Nexus 4 phones, so I installed your latest ROM update, but it still fails to pair.
Received the update and installed automatically instantly. Haven't noticed anything different and I still can't seem to answer whatsapp calls anymore over bluetooth.
This was working before the last 1.5 update.

Tell me about it!!!! I'm still on "June" update, since I got the watch in July. I've been waiting for the OTA and it never comes. Is there a trick? I go to about>check for updates and its always "up to date". I have my "wifi" going to sleep after 3hrs. The thing always on the puck/charger overnight at 100% battery. But these OTA never happen. Looks like I've already missed the "July" update, and will probably have to get that before the "august" update....
What are you guys doing ??? Other than sideloading via adb....

1.5 update can no longer make calls, battery life terrible!
I just updated last night and now I can no longer make calls, and the battery life is terrible!

If the call does go through I can't hear the other person and they can't hear me?

No where has I seen that Huawei does monthly updates on any device. This was a patch for bluetooth, wifi, and security from comments I have found and searching. Older versions never even mentioned the security patch data. I do see better BT range and few BT dropouts, battery is the same. I don't do calls on the watch but use my BT headset for that.
Got the update today. Yep, it looks like it doesn't come at the same time for everyone. Thanks guys.

No reason to be sad that you got security patches. With everything that's been going on, I want my phone as secure as possible. I'm glad Samsung and Verizon are basically doing a monthly patch of the S7 line. Shows they want to keep the phones secure.
I'm getting wierd page redraw issues with Nova launcher since this update

Pixel 2 XL Panda 64GB US version not getting Feb update

I don't know if everyone did receive the update yet or not. But I am still waiting..
Any feedback? is this normal?
I feel like owning a Samsung device at this moment with regards to timely updates.
Nothing here (Belgium, unlocked pixel 2 panda 64 gb from the UK) either so far...

Samsung and timely updates, what? I mean my last device from samsung was the S4, but timely updates wasn't really something they did. If they did any updates at all.
Same here Panda 64 Eastern US. I went ahead and unlocked and flashed to Feb last night. Impatience ?

To be fair, I've been using a Galaxy S7 edge (Exynos model) for the last 2 years before getting my Pixel 2 XL, and Samsung has been pretty fast and reliable with security updates. Samsung isn't perfect but I think they're getting better, yet we tend to blame them when carriers are the culprit in reality. Most of the time, the updated Samsung firmware exists and is available but carriers take weeks, if not months, to push it.
I have the Verizon version of the 64GB Panda Pixel 2 XL and got the update 3 or 4 days ago. I'm enrolled in the beta program though so maybe that makes a difference.
Try that:
1. Turn airplane on
2. Clear data of google service framework
3. Turn airplane off and check the update in settings.
That was what I did to get the update.

No luck here with that workaround...
I am in the UK and my 2 XL never gets OTA until around 25th of the month, so I have to update using the OTA sideload. Other half's Pixel 2 doesn't get it until around the 25th as well.
US Pixel 2 XL here, still no update.
Pixel 2XL - Spain. No update.
if you feel you need it that badly, sideload the update.
Short of that, find the google play services beta and install that as it enables the update button to actually call for the update now.

My xl 2 was ordered from the UK, so that might explain the February update not coming through yet.
I use it in Belgium though and the January update only came a couple of days after the official release. Weird hickups in the Google update system?

H93220j Rolling out to TMo V30s

Reads: Provides various bug fixes and system improvements
I'll be visiting LG Bridge after work...
I dont have it :/
Yeah saw this too. I checked LG Bridge a few times yesterday and today and it is not available yet.
Yup, saw this and *tried* to jump on it... guess I try to get it at 0400 every day or so, or wait for someone who managed to get it to upload it somewhere else like last time!
Live now on Bridge
Yup it's live on LG Bridge. I'm updating as I'm writing this. Bridge tells me that the download is 2.83 GB.
The changelog mentions the Google security update and some improvements to ringtone/notification sound/Sound effects.
Update: The update through Bridge worked fine. Took about 10 minutes or so. My phone is now on the June 1, 2018 security patch level (and still Android 8.0.0). Haven't had time yet to look for noticeable changes.
My post from another thread early this morning:
______
T-Mobile is rolling out an updated OREO for V30 starting yesterday (June 27).
T-Mobile announces new LG V30 update
June 27, 2018
https://www.tmonews.com/2018/06/t-mobile-lg-v30-new-update/
One month after T-mobile restarted its Oreo update rollout, a new update has been released.
T-Mobile has announced an update for its LG V30 that bumps the device up to version H93220j. The update is still based on Android 8.0 and includes “various bug fixes and system improvements.”

So, NO it's not 'P" (I know someone is going to ask!) No V30 is going to get P until the Korean carrier variants get P.
It's just an update to make really sure you never get root! "They're getting too close!"
The auto brightness seems less terrible. It's at 27% vs the normal 3% in my morning bedroom.

But this is the full image KDZ, not the partial image OTA that rolled out two weeks ago.
I updated my TMO V30+ when notified, and ever since my phone has had issues waking from the fingerprint reader. Anyone else? I'd been using the original 8.0 release via LG Bridge with absolutely no issues.
Argh!
Mine got the update yesterday. I had the original release of the Oreo that got pulled (from Bridge), but since it had some bugs, I was glad to see this one finally showed up. Hopefully they did work out the issues from before. I would occasionally get the sound of Assistant activating, even if the phone was just sitting on a table in complete silence.
All H932 firmware files can be found at All-in-One OEM Firmware Stop, also if you are having to many issues with Oreo you can revert back to Nougat:silly:, Oreo and Nougat for the H932 are both ARB0, also have the latest LGup and LG Bridge downloads.
BUG ALERT! BUG ALERT! BUG ALERT! Some of you may already know this, there is a serious BUG in this H93220J update, at least for T-Mobile V30 phones, and possibly other carrier models too.
Bug symptoms happens to those who use messaging apps other than the baked-in one and the non-baked-in messaging app is set as the default messaging app. Some, but not all, incoming text messages get misdirected to the baked-in app even when it is not set as the default messaging app. Furthermore, the misdirected text messages can't be deleted and some texts from the past somehow come back to life on the list of messages even if they had been deleted long ago. This is a serious problem for many, including our office which has eight of these phones, all having this issue. By the way, Factory Reset does not resolve the issue.
If you use a third party app as your default, you might want to check the baked-in messaging app to see if you are experiencing this bug. If you are experiencing this bug please contact your carrier and report it, as that's the only way it will get addressed.
Thanks for reading!
Running Android messages on mine along with my wife's v30 on T-Mobile and we don't have any problems.
Try installing carrier Services from the play store. It integrates SMS at least with Android messages.
H93220k is ready for pull. Check your updates.

I never do clean reinstall after a major release unless it's necessary. It takes so long. Re-insalling all my apps, reloading all my data (music, videos) restoring texts and some app data, configuring apps, logging into accounts, etc. It takes hours.
I didn't realize you could side load the OTA without having to do a wipe. I'll probably try that. Thanks.

Just sideload it or flash the ota with twrp.

Me too, went back to 10 after just an hour, too many issues, particularly with apps that wont work on it...like my fave backup app, meaning i would have had to reinstall all my apps and reset them all up from scratch....
