Can't flash unbranded Oreo ROM and "e: failed to find /misc partition" message after
Hi guys, here's the deal.
I've bought this phone from an Argentina company called Claro, it has all typical bloatware from the carrier, apps, logo boot, ringtones, etc. So I've decided to flash my brand new Samsung Galaxy A5 2017 (SM-A520M) with the unbranded OREO ROM version from SamMobile, with the 4 files through Odin. Well, the thing's that I didn't know that because of the new security patchs (and for what I know), the OEM unlocked option was disabled it was impossible to flash. I mean Odin recognized it but the steps didn't even appear like always did. I've investigated a bit and I saw that OEM was disabled and because of that, I'll have to wait a week or so to unlock the feature. I've read that setting the date a week back I was able to activate it. And so I did, and it worked, so I thought... I've plugged the phone with Odin in Download Mode and I was determined to finally flash the new ROM. Long story short, it got stuck on SET PARTITION, which I think is the first message that pop-ups on Odin when flashing. So, I waited and waited but nothing happened, I saw that the whole process got stuck. The only thing I remember to read was NAND START WRITTING and nothing else.
After several minutes with no response I've unplugged my phone, and I press the power button. I saw the Samsung logo on loop, I almost died. I've read some forums about the issue but nothing certain, I guess this problem is kinda new. My concern was that when I went to Recovery Mode I saw the message below the options "e:/ failed to find misc/partition" that's when I really thought that it was a real problem and probably my phone was bricked forever. Luckily I made the factory reset and then it booted again. The phone is working great but, I'm very concerned about that message that appears on Recovery Mode, there's something wrong with that partition and for what I read and know about it there could be something missing from my phone that could be essential.
Thoughts? What can I do? I also downloaded Samsung Smart Switch to try to recover the firmware and install it to begin again but the option won't appear. My phone is detected, but I can't use the Emergency Recover with the original Firmware on Smart Switch. One more detail, the phone was bought from a company and it has the logo, ringtones and app from that company. Reason why there's no Oreo update yet with the company, so I have to wait but I really want the unbranded Oreo ROM.
What can I do? I really want Oreo unbranded but I don't know how to procced without screwing my phone. Thanks for reading, this is my first post in the forum.

Which Odin version have you used?

Ok i tell you u have to do to recover your phone and get oreo ?
1-u have to use new version of odin V13.3.1 (with LZ4 support )
2-Download any stock firmware oreo 8.0 from sammobile and flash it

No man, if it were that easy I wouldn't post anything. There's something that won't allow me to do it. It seems that because my phone is in "Pre-Normal" status on downlaod mode there's no chance to flash until it changes to "Normal," and for what I've read I have to wait one week. My question has to do with if is something serious the message "e: failed to find /misc partition" in download mode. What do I have to do from now on? Please read the whole post so you can understand my query. Thank you for your reply and intention to help. :good:

I have simmilar message, but i am not even rooted. "Failed to clear BCB message : failed to find misc partition."
There is nothing to worry about.

[Q] Rebooting at "Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos GT-I9082"

Hi,
I am new here. the problem similar to which I mentioned has been discussed here already.
the history of the problem is as below:
I had disabled some android built in apps even including google play(by mistake), including some other system app- because I was trying to speed up my phone. I got this remedy (disabling the system apps) from some website. It gave me some problems such as I wasn't able to update or install any apps anymore.
due to this, I used kies to update my phone. This operation failed. Then I tried the emergency recovery. but now kies will not accept the model/serial combination.
having this, I used ODIN to flash a stock ROM. This operations failed at BcmCP.img. I tried several environments for flashing. (tried from 4 different PCs, windows 7 and windows 8, having fresh installation of windows etc. none of them succeed.
I was able to flash Philz recovery and able to enter the recovery mode, but it couldnt solve my issue.(even after wiping cache/dalvin with Philz.)
I tried different version of stock with different versions of ODIN.
finally, I extracted the stock rom in to individual images and converted them to tar.md5 and flashed them immediately. I flashed all images except bcmCP.img. still it didnt solve my issue, but after this even I couldnt enter the Recovery mode.
Later I tried flashing with Philz again. It flashes successfully, but didnt allow me to boot in to recovery. Now I am completely stuck as my phone keeps restarting at the model name.
Please help me to restore my phone.
sorry for the long post, but hope it will explain my problem.

if u disable some system apps u must enable it..the best solution for that is go to a technician and let them see ur phone
Hi,
Thank you for your reply.
I approached the technical service of samsung. they advised me that the phone has been roote and thus the motherboard needs replacement and it will cost almost one third of the cost of the phone.
I dont think I have done any harm to the hardware.
could you please advise me if there is any other option than replacing the motherboard?
Many thanks..

I cant enter the recovery mode. it restarts even before that stage.
If I remove and put the battery, it will be in the off state. When I plug the charger, it will automatically start and restart even before I can goto recovery mode.
last day I was able to boot to recovery using Philz. but now I cant. pressing and holding the volumeup+home buttons has no effect.

Hi,
I found a solution to flash the stock ROM. I checked the model name on the motherboard and it is GT-9082i, while kies detects my phone as GT-9082 only. dont know why. When checked for the stock ROM for GT-I9082i, I found that it is a chinese model and all the stock ROM listed was CHU. the phone is locked to some chinese operator I think.
I need to change this stock ROM anyway or need to unlock the phone.
Could you please help me for that?

Thank you. That will take me to recovery mode.
there is correction in my previous reply. the operator is not locked. I can use my operator SIM. since the version is Chines, most of the apps use chinese language.
I know that only due to the difference in "modem" it didnt accept any other stock ROMs. when I purchase the phone, the region of the phone was set to United Arab Emirates. (I have written down the OS details from the "About" menu )
can somebody help me to restore a ROM for my region itself?
I am sure that the phone will not accept the ROm for my region as it fails always at BcmCP.img (the modem).
Many Thanks.

tmobile galaxy s6 edge g925t, missing OS. HELP!!!

I recently rooted my galaxy s6 edge g925t and was successful, but i couldn't stop there, i wanted to upgrade to android 6.0. i spent hours searching for a custom ROM/firmware and found one that i thought would work. I installed that custom OS through TWRP installer. After i finished the installation i tried to restart the phone but it just stayed at the "Samsung Galaxy S6 EDGE" boot logo and didn't play the boot animation. I searched online for ways of unbricking the phone and i eventually got to the recovery mode and tried to wipe the internal storage. then i restarted the phone and was back to the same Samsung logo. I again tried to get back to the recovery mode, but this time i did an advanced wipe and i ended up deleting the OS. if tried installing the stock ROM/firmware via Odin but can't get it to work. Is there anything i can still do? Can anyone please help me?
What happens when you try and flash the Odin image? The Rom you flashed, did that flash a new bootloader or firmware? If so it might have messed up the partitions on the phone.

The phone doesn't accept that either.
What custom ROM did you install? And what stock ROM did you try to ODIN flash?
Also, what is happening when you do that. I gathered out didn't work, but what error comes up?

TyrannusRomV23.1.zip is the custom rom, and SM-G925T_1_20150327095252_d1ygbqk7km (1) is the name of the stock i tried.
also the error that ODIN shows is that it FAILed and the phone shows in red letters in the top corner "check fail. DEVICE: 3, BINARY: 1
i dont know the entire message from the phone b/c my screen is blacked out in the top corner, but thats what i can see.

Yeah, I don't think TyrannusRom is runnable on a G925T :/
Flashing stock with ODIN should do the trick. It's hard to tell where that stock file is from, so I would try to download the latest directly from SamMobile here (this is specifically for the G925T). If it's still not working, copy/paste the error ODIN is giving you here if you can.
Also, this thread seems to suggest you might be able to just re-flash the bootloader.
THANK YOU so much!!! that worked, iv looke on sammobile before but couldn't get anything to work, thanks so much

Note 7 possibly bricked

Hi all,
so im coming here to ask you for a help.
Yesterday i have read about samsung pushing deactivating update for our notes 7, i have panicked and immediately started with installing TWRP, HydraRom and root to block incoming updates.
But, as i have already found out, my skills with android and flashing are already gone. So i have installed twrp, then rom and tried to reboot but phone was showing a lot of error messages and notification about low memory, which is weird. After couple of hours of seeking i have found out, that i should try to fix /data and /storage in TWRP by converting from EXT4 to ExFat... So i tried it, but phone suddenly died when it was repartitioning and now im stuck with note which is unable to boot or go to recovery. I can get into download mode yet when i try to flash anythin (whole rom, just bl, TWRP) odin shows immediately FAIL!
Does anyone know if there is way how to fix my note 7? I was thinking maybe a PIT file would help, but im unable to find one...
EDIT: Tried methods found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-7/how-to/fix-samsung-note-7-snapdragon-exynos-sm-t3443753 but no luck, same story with smartswitch as Odin, flash begins but immediately fails and note comes out of download mode.
So I have made decision, that I will add bounty - 50 bucks (will pay through PayPal) to anyone who will find way how to make my note work!
You should return your Note 7 to Samsung. Its safer and if want to do trial and error. I've found it possible to rescue any phone as long as you can put it in download mode ?
Sent from my SM-N930F using XDA-Developers mobile app
I know i should return it, but i really want to keep it atleast as a second phone, anyone has a solution please ?
Before trying to install twrp and custom Rom what firmware were you on? If I were you I'd download the stock firmware from Samsung site open Odin and put phone into download mode I'm sure that will work.
I was on the newest one, with green battery indicator. I have already tried flashing official rom downloaded from sammobile, but odin always only states fail! After a second, meanwhile phone leaves the download mode and gets stuck on bootloop.
When I try to entry recovery phone gets stuck on TWRP screen but doesn't actually start TWRP.
I will send 50 bucks through PayPal to first of you guys, who will lead me to the successful repair of my note!

Revert J7 Prime SM-G610F back to Stock [SOLVED]

I recently rooted my J7 Prime and installed Enigma ROM V1.5, and it worked. Due to some reasons, and pretty much the app incompatibility, force-closing and a bit of heating issues I tried to revert back to Stock Firmware.
So I downloaded the stock firmware from SamMobile:
"This firmware has version number PDA G610FXXU1AQC2 and CSC G610FODI1APL1. The operating system of this firmware is Android 6.0.1, with build date Tue, 14 Mar 2017 12:34:47 +0000. Security patch date is 2017-03-01, with changelist 10912764.
Model SM-G610F
Model name Galaxy J7 Prime
Country India
Version Android 6.0.1
Changelist 10912764
Build date Tue, 14 Mar 2017 12:34:47 +0000
Security Patch Level 2017-03-01
Product code INS
PDA G610FXXU1AQC2
CSC G610FODI1APL1 "
Then I flashed the AP file through Odin v3.11 and it worked well until 'system.img' was flashed. And then the 'userdata.img' started flashing and FAILED.
I disconnected my phone and tried to boot into recovery and the message "an error has occurred while updating the device software use the emergency recovery function".
So I reflashed my stock recovery with 'Auto-Reboot' checked and the device rebooted normally.
Then the weird part happened, network connectivity. It has issue connecting to Google Servers so I can't log in. I used wi-fi and set it up somehow. Then I go to my network setting and see never-seen-before network configuration. I am using Airtel India so I created a custom configuration and applied it. Then I went to the 'About Device' panel and instead of 'Galaxy J7 Prime' it shows the name as 'Galaxy On Nxt'.
Here's what I did next.
I flashed TWRP 3.1 and wiped the system and all the data. Then reflashed the Stock Firmware downloaded from another website. Same. Fails at 'userdata.img'. Reflashed stock recovery, did factory reset. Same thing, shows Galaxy On Nxt and weird network configurations.
Did a 3rd time with a stock firmware file from one more website. Same results.
Now, my device works good. But the problem is heating issues and a little bit of lag. Unable to download apps from Play Store. Software update says 'Processing Failed'. Binary says 'Custom' and so does System.
Tried 'Root Away', but it didn't work at all, neither did it reset the flash counter nor the 'custom' status and binary.
P.S. I read about this 'Re-Partitioning' and 'NAND Erase All' in a Galaxy S3 thread but I don't want to jump to conclusions right now. So just asking if it could work out in my case.
And I bought this phone in January 2017 and it was updated to the latest firmware over OTA.
I'd be grateful if you could help.
Thank you.
Edit: Found the problem. In the first three flashes I tried to flash updated versions of the same Firmware, so, it failed. What I did was, match the baseband and software version and download the same. Flashed it with the CP and CSC files. Voila! Done. Then I updated to the latest version, mentioned above, QC2 from QB1 through OTA.
I feel kinda dumb.
Please note that I had to wipe the phone first through TWRP.
Now, I'm back to stock. I'll keep this here in case you miss some things like I did.
Hey Its J7 Prime with nnon removable battery ...... Actually I turned off oem lock and restarted the phone with custom rom ........ and its says custom binary blocked by frp lock and when i unbrick using odin ...... it is also not installing ....... in the download mode also displays the same message ...... please bro help me....:crying::crying::crying::crying:
Did you try flashing the stock recovery? If not, do it. Then flash the stock firmware.
The tricky part is finding the correct firmware. Just take a look at the manufacturing date on the box it came in. Then match the firmware build dates.
If you've done this then reply with a more comprehensive description of your current situation.
Will be glad to help.
-EDIT-
What is the manufacturing date? Check that and look for a firmware with a build date matching that particular month.
But first I'd say just flash the stock recovery with 'Auto-Reboot' checked, it might fix the problem.
Would be better if you get your phone booted up first even if it fails after flashing system.img successfully.
Edit: Just flash the stock recovery with 'auto-reboot' and see if it works. I am right here, so you can reply anytime.

I tried rooting the phone and then gave up.
Then the phone was stuck in a reboot loop.
I downloaded the stock firmware from a website and used ODIN.
It worked and the phone booted fine.
Like you, my phone name too changed to Galaxy Nxt instead of J7 Prime.
But all was good till here, no issues with the phone.
Then I didnt turn on, OEM unlock.
Selected Reset to Factory Settings and rebooted the phone.
Now it is stuck with a Samsung logo and the message in red on top left corner, "Custom Binary blocked by FRP lock".
SAMMOBILE is down right now and I cant download any other firmware.
When I try to flash again using ODIN and the firmware I downloaded earlier, it fails.
Can you please give me the steps to resolve the issue?
Can I use the same ROM I downloaded earlier?
The box mentions the model number as, SM-G610FZKOINS.
What baseband and other version I need to match and which one will that be?
The phone is manufactured on April 2017

Here's what you should do:
1). Reflash stock recovery.
2). Reflash the same stock ROM.
3). Boot it up.
There might be a problem where it'll show that 'emergency recovery' screen. All you need to do then is to hold 'volume down + power button' and as the screen goes off, keeping power button pressed switch to volume up and also the home button. You must do this switching process in the quarter of a second. It'll show the 'system updating' screen and then it'll fail. But all you have to do is the same thing again, ' hold 'volume down + power button' and as the screen goes off, keeping power button pressed switch to volume up and also the home button', now you should be in the recovery mode. Wipe factory data reset and the phone will boot.
If you're successful, next thing you should do is note down the baseband version. Then look up the correct firmware from SamMobile, with the same baseband number.
Then the process begins again, which I'll explain when you've booted it up.
SM-G160F/DD
Ok...So I got a new ROM from SAMMOBILE, and I think this is the correct one.
It has 5 files:
AP
BL
CP
CSC
HOME_CSC_ODI
As I was not sure of the last one, I changed the name of the zip file to tar and then specified it in PDA and clicked on start.(ODIN)
After NAND Write Start message in ODIN, it says,
Complete(write) operation failed.
Then I unzipped the ROM package into a folder and used ODIN3 now.
Specified the first 4 files and then clicked start.
In this it says re-partition failed.
---------- Post added at 12:38 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:25 PM ----------
I then selected only the BL file and clicked start. This too failed.
ON the phone it says, "Secure Check Failed(Bootloader)
---------- Post added at 12:43 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:38 PM ----------
You said:
1). Reflash stock recovery.
2). Reflash the same stock ROM.
3). Boot it up.
How do I perform the first step?
And Same Stock ROM?, meaning the ROM I used after I bought the phone and faced this problem? or the new ROM I just downloaded from SAMMOBILE?
There's a thread here on xda about rooting J7 Prime. Download the folder, should be 50mb (I can't link you because haven't been long here on XDA). There's a stock recovery file SM-G610F. Flash it. Then go into recovery mode and factory data reset. Then power off the phone and boot into download mode. Then flash the old ROM. And get it to boot as the first time, identifying itself as OnNxt. If it works, then check the baseband version and verify with your new ROM package. Enable USB debugging and OEM unlock.
Next get the TWRP3.1 recovery for your phone, also available on XDA. Flash it.
Then boot into recovery and go to 'wipe', click 'format data' and then type 'yes' and click ok.
Then click back and go to advanced wipe. Check 'dalvik', 'cache', 'data', 'system' and if there's nothing to lose or you don't care about that then check 'internal storage' too. Then wipe it.
Power off the phone and go to download mode. Flash the stock recovery.
Now flash the new ROM, if the baseband matches, with AP, CP, CSC. Don't load the BL file, that's the Bootloader and you don't wanna mess with that.
If this is successful you're good as Stock. Everything except 'Knox Secure Folder' works.
Try this. You can still root your device later.
IS it this one?
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/general/root-samsung-galaxy-j7-prime-cwm-t3516777
I downloaded the 50mb zip file and extracted a file called, "SM-G610F_stock_recovery.tar"
Used ODIN and flashed the above file.
Now, I cant get to the Recovery Mode...earlier I couldnt get here, only DownloadMode was available.
But even after the Factory Reset, it still shows the error on top right, "Custom Binary Blocked by FRP lock".
Then I tried using ODIN3 again and selected, BL,AP,CP,CSC files and tried flashing again, it stopped immediately and on the phone it says,
Secure Check FailedPIT)
In ODIN3, it says, "Re-partition operation failed".
---------- Post added at 02:47 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:18 PM ----------
I meant, I CAN get to the recovery mode now.
Do you have Google Allo? If you do then I'll message you there. Because social media is still banned here.
You don't have to flash the BL.
And you definitely don't need to Re-Partition.
Just flash stock recovery and reset and flash the AP alone. All you have to do is get the phone to boot so we can determine the baseband.
If you succeed to flash till system.img then it should boot, if it boot-loops then just flash stock-recovery again and reset again but this time reboot. The phone should boot.
I'd tell you to Re-Partition it using the PIT file for it but it's just not gonna work. The PIT fails the secure check.
Did you WA me?
Getting Allo...will update you in a bit..
Yeah! I did. VPN got blocked.
Got Allo...

If you could help me I would really appriciate it, you'll save my life. I flashed Enigma ROM v3.0 but it seems it has a few bugs on SM-G610F/DS.

What is your mobile carrier? Is the phone a global version or a country specific carrier locked model? The core firmware is always the same, it's the CSC that differs. Rest I cannot say.

What do you mean by 'J710FN 2016 Prime'?
This is the G610F J7 Prime thread.
Procedure should be same like this. Only the files vary.
Boot into recovery mode.
Go to 'Wipe'
Click 'Format Data'
Type 'Yes' and hit Enter
Then go back
Click 'Advanced Wipe'
Check Dalvik, Data, System, Cache (might wanna check internal sdcard too if you have nothing to lose)
Click Erase
Go to download mode
Connect to PC and flash the stock recovery via Odin
Then flash the stock firmware via Odin
And you're good to go.
You can find the firmware on SamMobile. Make sure you choose the correct firmware.

An Error Has Ocurred... after updating Oreo

Hi! I have a big problem with my A5 2017. Today my phone pop-up the Oreo update, so I was decided to install it (finally!). First of all, I want to appoint that I have bought this phone from the carrier Claro in Argentina. Everything was fine, it downloaded the 1.56 GB of the OTA update but the problem was during installation. It got stuck at 32%, it failed. It rebooted and then an error message pop up to confirm to send to Samsung. I pressed yes and I gave it another shot and again stuck at 32%. Since I wanted to have Oreo so bad, I opened Smart Switch to update it with my laptop and the USB cable. Here's where all the drama began, Smart Switch recognized my phone and the new update, I pressed yes and I waited for the download. Everything was fine, I though that I was going to have Oreo on my phone. It began installing the update and all of the sudden it got sutck at 92% and again an error appear on screen. I pressed ok and this time there was another message saying that I have to use Emergency recovery option from Smart Swicht, I thought there wouldn't be a problem but when I procceded I had to past a code to recover my phone which I did but then it took 4 hours to download the emergency firmware to recover the previous firmware. When everything was set to installation the progress bar got stuck again at 90% this time. Now, I don't know what to do, I have this permanent message on screen "An error occurred while updating the device software. Use the Emergency recovery function in the Smart Switch PC software." I can't turn off my phone, I can only use the download mode. So my question is what Software do I have to flash in order to recover my phone? I'm downloading the Oreo update (which gave me problems before) but honestly, this is the first time that happens something like that. Do I have to flash Nougat like I had? I'll trip knox I guess but right now I can only think off flashing the lastest firmware through Odin. What would you recommend me to do? Thanks in advance!

You can get out of download mode by holding volume down and power button until screen goes black. If it was me, I would download the latest oreo firmware for your model and flash it in Odin. If that didn't work I would huck it across the floor. JK

Yes, I did it. I've managed to download the lastest firmware, oddly the one that won't install via OTA or Smart Switch. I was wondering if I can flash an unbranded version from my country the next time, I couldn't do it the last time with Nougat. How can I do it if my phone is from a company? Thanks for your answer!
I hope this post help if someone has the same issue after updating an erroneous firmware from Samsung servers via OTA or Smart Switch. My company is Claro from Argentina. My solution was to download the latest firmware from sammobile's site and flash it though Odin. This phone with Oreo is amazing! Cheers.

It should work to flash unbranded firmware, but I am not sure what would happen with your CSC. Personally, I would stick with the right one. But if you you want to change CSC to unbranded, there is a tutorial somewhere on XDA.
