miui 10 quick settings blurriness - Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro Questions & Answers

the blurriness in the quick settings always annoyed me, I thought it's part of the "miui 10 package". but today I saw a video of redmi 4x miui 10 and there was no blur, is there a way to turn it off?

Possibly a slightly different version of miui 10. Remember that a group of devices may be upgraded to miui 9, 10, etc but for some, the underlying Android version may not be updated so they don't get all the new features.

Is Oxygen OS as good or better then MIUI?

In comparison to Xiaomi's MIUI how is the Oxygen Os?
Does it have...
Call recording option in dialler without any third party software.
Something like a security app to clean cache, scan for virus's and grant permission for apps.
Inbuilt backup and restore option which backup all user data plus apps user made data to cloud.
Power options to change power saving profile according to time and restart the sevice automatically at given time like 6am.
And if you have used both MIUI and OOS... who do you think is better?

Get a Mi phone for all those features plus a mi phone will have better support for miui roms. Oxygen os is close to stock with some little functional tweaks. it doesn't have anything fancy like miui. But if you would ask me which rom is better i would say oos. it's simple clean less gimmicky. Hope this helps you.
Hi,
If you want to try MIUI, I suggests, buy Mi5... A MIUI port won't stable than an original one.
From my perspective: MIUI is really beautiful... If you see the screenshots.... You should try it. I think, everyone tried at least once... But for daily driver? No way. If you ever used AOSP based roms (oos, cm, etc), you won't use MIUI. I'm 80% sure, that you'll replace the original launcher. Than you'll sick some annoying incompatibles... Just look at MIUI forums. Problems with pop-up windows (for example Facebook messanger), problems with Android Pay, etc, etc.
I was ordered Mi5 (4/128G), but it went to out of stock, so I got refund... That was my luck. Now, I'm a happy OP3 user, and I don't need MIUI... That's my opinion.
As someone who previously always used stock or near stock ROMS, I currently own a Xiaomi Mi5. I ran with Miui for about a few weeks, but it really frustrated the hell out of me. Yes it looks nice, but I was always finding background apps just randomly stopped working or you had to allow extra security settings. I tried Google Now Loader on it, but that randonmly stopped working. In the end, I've flashed CM on it. So much better.
Going from a stock or near stock rom to MIUI is like going from Android to Apple. I will be returning my Mi5 to stock and selling on, as I now have a OP3 on the way.
Another reason - community support for OP3 is already strong. The Mi5 support thread is a joke.

why dont you try the hos
for me OOS is better than miui. as i prefer stock android ui than heavily skinned miui.
MIUI 8 is cool- looking, feature-rich, but i just dont like the ios lookalike UX.
I have bad experiences with Oxygen in OP1 and 2, always uses CM or H20 ,
but if you are wondering about phones which running those 2 OS - Xiaomi mi5 and OP3, i think i should go for OP3, MI5 looks cheap with white color, and huge bezels
All the features you mentioned are available in the Chinese rom for OnePlus phones. Call recording is there, extra app permissions lockdown, etc. You'll have to install GApps manually if you need it.
The OP3 isn't on that page yet but should be soon.
Hope to See a miui rom for the op3 soon. Now using the mi launcher on it.

I think both are not compareable. They try to reach different goals (MIUI feature rich and pretty colorful while OOS wants to add some features but stay close to stock). It depends mainly on the user.
I will be happy with tweaked OOS once my device will be delivered while you can count on custom ported MIUI roms. There's not that better one imho

It mean "call recording" is not available in Oxygen?
I expect your answer to flash Oxygen. My OP3 is running H20 and if it isn't "call recording", i will not flash.
all oxygen is is stock android with a few apps from oneplus. plus it supports layers themeing. so yes IMO its almost as good as getting a nexus and much better than miui.
OOS on a Mi5?
I'm not sold on the aesthetic and a couple aspects of the OP3, I quite prefer the Mi5. I'm strongly considering attempting to load OxygenOS onto the 4/128gb Mi5 as my next phone and it sounds like people in this thread might have direct experience with this setup.
Any thoughts/tips? I unfortunately can't wait for the new Nexus phone(s) but I'm also considering a couple phones from ZTE & Huawei...
Thanks
Porting OxygenOS would be hard and pointless at this point, because Mi5 doesn't even have kernel sources and a working AOSP ROM. If you really want iOS lookalikes, I would recommend OPPO phones. They didn't release flagship for a couple years, but at least they know how to develop software well. R7 Plus has even Cyanogenmod 13, I believe.

Thanks but I specifically don't like iOS and wanting a phone that doesn't look like an iPhone is part of the draw towards the Mi5. That R7 Plus is an interesting phone, but for me the screen is too big and the CPU & GPU are quite subpar.
No one who makes a smartphone for the US has made one with the specs I'm looking for. OP3 falls short, the Nexus 6P is too far behind now, I find the Galaxy S7 to be hideous, the G5 was a disappointment. The HTC 10 is the closest bet but it's battery life sucks probably due to its pointlessly 4K screen.
The Huawei P9, Honor V8, ZTE Nubia Z11, and the Mi5 Pro are my top contenders at the moment, but there's no way I'm using their own OSs.
IMO Samsung is a big disappointment, because of their weird things like Knox.
boy i hate miui.. its known to bring gingerbread memory leak issues to marshmellow ! hahaha on the mi5 it restarts apps unnecessarily lol
Gingerbread didn't have memory leaks... or I've not experienced them while I was using it. In comparison, lollipop and above always had them on my Z2. That's why I started porting SailfishOS

I'm using the Mi launcher too. The look and feel of Miui and the best of OOS or Exodus Rom
OOS is great out of the box - stock Android with goodies (and useful goodies at that). Really stable and fast.
And since it's very near to stock Android, many Xposed modules work, so you can customize it much very easily.
It is beyond me why someone could prefer MIUI over that.

Poco launcher slowness

Hi,
I am using a Redmi Note 5 (whyred) with the latest standard MIUI Global 11.0.3.0. I installed Poco launcher quite a while ago and have been satisfied with its performance. However, the launcher has been behaving oddly lately. Sometimes, after using an app when you return to the 'desktop'/main screen, the screen will go blank (all you see is wallpaper) and it will take 6-10 seconds before you see any icons or have any control over the device again. It does not happen all the time and I have not found any correlation yet with any other program. I upgraded Poco to the latest version I know of, 2.7.4.18. It didn't fix this behavior. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?
Thanks!

-Banking apps working properly, even the FP auth ones
-Animations clearly faster and more smooth than OOS11

Mine is a IN2020 and I flash this and now says IN2025 as far as data goes, it works perfect
Anyone running this on the IN2015 or 2010? If so, would you recommend it good enough to be a daily driver?

will this work?? I don't know how MSM tools works.
Won't charge on Android 12
Has anyone maintained magisk like we've done on stock rooted Android 11 updates? Usually I roll back magisk images. Install the update, let it do it's thing, not reboot. Then reinstall magisk and reboot. Will this process still work?
I have a problem with Line app crash.
(Color OS 12 beta , H2OS 12 Beta and also OOS 12 Beta.)
Now only run Custom 12. Line is my main chat app.
Ive tried out the firmware. Its working amazingly. Also, my phone that never once had a 5G bar suddenly says 5G (I am on Verizon). I feel like the battery life might be a little bit worse, but I have been using it the whole time with max brightness over the last 4 hrs. I went from 90 to 59%.
The photochrom app for infrared that works on android 11 doesn't seem to work, I have yet to try it with adb. It seems that engineering mode (factory mode) is blocked.
All of my apps seem to be running very stable. Calls, plex, games, etc. No issues
My OnePlus Bud z2 sound way better.
Ill add to this if there are any changes.
Edit 1: I forgot to say that after the update it ran sluggish for about the first 2 minutes then resumed back to blazing fast. I also updated from OOS (android 11) Beta 12.
It was also incredibly easy to retain root. Just use the system update to install the update manually then install magisk on the other slot. Restart, retain root.
Forced 120hz stopped working.
"hacked" call recording is not working.
New folders displays its content in the middle of the screen=poor reachability.
Cannot change folders icons into circles
Apps names visibility on home screen is connected to visibility inside the app drawer.
Widevine ok, banking apps ok
But for those who have the EU version phone, will there be a specific beta for EU or just the Global?

I updated my (ez)phone to na. Works. Nearly perfect.
I instalalled this update yesterday night , for now everything seems stable , i can't tell if battery is better or not because I rooted my oos 11 , and metod to root oos 11 didn't work for me on oos 12 , anyone know how to root oos 12?
The thing i can tell , buttons to navigate system changed , i could set custom gestures on oos 11 like if i hold home button my screen turns off, now i can't and their position is worse than oos 11 . And I agree with others that fingerprint seems working even faster

Downgrading from Android 10 to 9 disadvantages

Hello,
I use an old for today's standards Samsung Galaxy J7 (2016) with a custom Android 10 rom with arm64 and OneUI 2.5 functionalities. Unfortunately, due to 2GB of RAM (even with additional 2GB of ZRAM), it's hard to cope with problems regarding apps in background closing right after roughly 1 minute of not using them (Youtube does this a lot) and sometimes apps lagging just while using them normally. So I'm thinking of flashing a Android 9 ARM32 OneUI 1.0 ROM. (My phone never had Pie update officially, so the switch from 8 to 10 was overwhelming.) But before I do that, I want to know what will I lose if I do, so I can see if it'll be worth it. I know that Google is planning to force devs to ditch ARM32, but before they do I want to feel comfortable with my phone. For now, as I've seen the features I will lose, that are valuable to me, are purely cosmetic, such as Video Enhancer and Edge Lighting. But if there are way more of them, please let me know. Basically I'm asking for a full list of changes from 9 to 10 and OneUI from 1 to 2.5.

Question ROM Suggestions

Hi everyone, I would like to know if you have suggestions for a Stable ROM for Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 5G NE. My last experience of Flashing is from 2018 for Samsung S7. Pixel Experience Plus seems nice, but if you guys know of a more stable or a SuperLite version, I would save me some time reading. Thanks a lot..

Yes , the Android 12 versions are quite stable
Haven't tested Android 13 as it's quite recent

For me it's xiaomi.eu rom

Spoiler: Suggetions Detail
for suggestions from others, Is there some other ROM for Mi 11 Lite 5G NE that features bloatware free, and really stable enough? Thanks all..
You are welcome
That's the best thing in xiaomi.eu roms
No ads
I saw also that in the stock rom themes now are payable
Which is not a problem in xiaomi.eu rom because of the import mtz feature in themes app
I love also the timeless aod

It appears Xiaomi.eu ROMs is another Forum, could you link me to your specific ROM Post? Thanks!
is it this one MIUI 14 Stable?
I'm actually choosing between these two, Pixel OS (Stable) and Xiaomi.eu
Pixel OS is quite pulling me because I get to have the Pixel Experience and there are over 171K Views which could mean more users, on the other hand your suggestion, Xiaomi.EU is also something that is already dedicated to my unit, with MIUI that I like better than Samsung's One UI, besides the Bloatware and Ads of course.
Still, I'm doing my research and your inputs are valuable to me because you have already done what I am about to do, once again after several years. I'm still looking on TWRP setups too, seems quite different now. There's this method that I have to register my account to my device through Developer Options, that I don't remember doing on my Samsung S7 before. I'll also have to look on possible Brick incidents, I surely don't want that.
Mny Thanks..
Both PixelOS and Xiaomi.eu are great roms. You should try them both. Plus both roms have zero bloatware/ads.
I am on xiaomi.eu 14.0.8.0 and the experience has been great!

you have to unlock your bootloader at first via the program mi flash unlock

Actually, no. I live in Egypt and all of my banking apps works, albeit without root, obviously.
AND, even if you're rooted, you can use Shamiko to hide root successfully. You can find it here: https://github.com/LSPosed/LSPosed.github.io/releases
