I just bought this phone and i got to know dat it doesnt support native video calling from dialer.
you have to use any 3rd party app

I hope ASUS enables it in the future update., currently I don't see any option.

Native video calling is sometimes dependent on the service provider, on my LG v20 using Jio SIM I get Video call option, using Vodafone I do not get that option

Yup I agree with that. On my Galaxy S7 I have had similar experience.

Video Call

Quick question, can anybody tell me how to use video call, i been trying over and over, but it never works, please help......thanx
are you in the US? If so, no US network supports video calls.
i'm gonna assume you installed a custom rom or which has a dialer from a european rom that has the video call button. Again, its not supported in the US so sadly you cant do it

AT&T's network supports video calling. You have to add it to your monthly plan however, and it's pretty expensive: 35 cents per minute. And you have to be in a UMTS/HSPA/HSPA+ area to use it.
T-Mobile's network does not support video calling.
well thanx for the speedy reply

I don't think it has the native standard 3G video call as some other phones in the European region have.

I've used Google Talk over 3g (it's all we get at the house). It has been much smoother that skype for us.

Video calling on P601

I currently have the P601, all stock not rooted and using and AT&T SIM. Just wondering how to get the video calling feature to work. Every time I try it says unable to place video call. Tried over wifi and over network with no luck. Any tips/suggestions? Thanks

It's a carrier dependant feature. AT&T stopped supporting it years ago. No U.S. carrier supports their own 3/4G video calling service any longer.

Wifi calling

Does T-Mobile wifi calling work?
Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
No. That is a carrier feature. You have to buy your phone from t-mobile if you need that.

That's not true. Its a software feature. HTC 10 unlocked from htc.com support wifi calling. CM13 supports wifi calling.

The true findings have not been reported yet. CM13 has "unlocked" through what they call trickery, but has not been reported to work on all devices. This topic comes up at every unlocked phone thread I have seen. It most likely will work on devices that either were purchased at T-Mobile or that have radios with the ability to place Wi-Fi calls (any phone compatible with project-fi). There are reports of the nexus 5 on cm13 not being able to use this, but the 5x (with it's Wi-Fi calling ability) to use it. The HTC 10 has the ability to make Wi-Fi calls natively (the radio supports it) on android N, so using it on t-mobiles WiFi calling makes sense. But, until there is confirmation that the oneplus 3 has this ability, then I'm going to say it probably won't work. I could very well be wrong, but I can't find anything proving it works on all devices right now.

Can't say for the op3, but definitely is not on the op2. My Buddy has stock oxy OS, and it's not there.

Dumb Dumb Dumb
Yeah no wifi calling and no ok google from a locked screen...I'll hold off and see if they update these, if not, probably move to the next nexus.
I just received my op3... No wifi calling option with T-Mobile. I hope they add it. My 6p came from project Fi and does work with wifi calling on T-Mobile.

If they ever get it working let me know. I'll also hold of until Wi-Fi calling works.

seems wifi calling is still in the settings menu, but it disabled as soon as you toggle it and leave. CM13 on the nexus 6p has working wifi calling, so the device itself doesn't have to come from t-mobile to work. Still hoping this is not radio firmware related. Waiting for a decent CM13 port to see if there's a chance there. If anyone has flashed one of the two cm13 ports on their op3, is the wifi calling option visible in the settings menu?
It is equipped, but 1+ has to pay T-Mobile to test it and approve for use. 1+ says they won't. Maybe we can remind them we want it.

It depends. I wouldn't pay for Wi-Fi calling and I'll be damned if I'm going to be forced to pay it through some price increase just to appease a minority. There are other ways to achieve Wi-Fi calling that doesn't involve carrier support like WhatsApp
How do you call a landline on whatsapp. How do you receive calls to your phone number on whatsapp. There really aren't many full VoIP wifi calling solutions available, and none of them are even as close in integration or as seamless as the native implementation. Cant speak for most carriers, but it's free on T-Mobile. I can relate to not wanting to pay for features you don't have use of, but the same could be said for volte calling or LTE in general.

There is WiFi calling in the settings. Search for it. I'm attaching screenshot of my OOS 3.2.4 unrooted having WiFi calling option in setting.
And also it does support Ok Google from lock screen. Just Google it how to make it work...

If you are on the stock OOS 3.2.4 it's there.
Go to settings, in the search bar type "pre".
Select " calling preference"
WiFi calling should come

I don't use it but the option is also in exodus Rom, and probably in many roms as it's in Android sources.
Im going to try porting the wifi calling app and frameworks over from . T-Mobile LG G5.

Question Honor Magic Ultimate VoLTE support in USA

I am planning to buy Honor 4 Ultimate here in the USA. Can anyone please confirm if there is any possibility to get VoLTE on any carrier? Both at&t and T-Mobile not supporting VoLTE for Honor Chinese version. I have heard Google FI supports VoLTE if anyone can please confirm before I buy.

I have the Honor 4 Ultimate here in the US on T-Mobile, I believe my VOLTE is working as I can make calls without issue.

And to use Google Fi the device has to support Google Play Services which this does not.
Thanks a lot for letting me know. I just returned honor Magic 3 pro plus as it kept switching to 2G connection for calls. I really love the phone. I will go ahead and order it... Thanks
Oh that's a new thing I learnt. Got it

If you get a chance, please do check once if you are seeing the VoLTE toggle bar in your mobile settings. I would sincerely appreciate if you can just confirm that. Thanks

You're welcome, sometimes I do switch to 2G but it doesn't seem to be too long I always switch back to 4G eventually sometimes 5G and I'm stll able to complete calls on the T-Mobile network. Me it doesn't really bother me much since I make minimal phone calls.

Great. Yes so this 2G calls might completely end by December 2022 when T-Mobile shuts down 2G. However after reading countless posts and thread...someone mentioned the best way to avoid this VoLTE drama by both at&t and T-Mobile.. you can start using services like Google voice and port your number...I actually tried this and I now don't care if TMobile doesn't allow VoLTE even after December 2022... But thanks for checking everything...1 more thing if you can check... If you can enable developer mode and see if you get an option for VoNR... That is the new standard after VoLTE and if that is supported on Ultimate that should help too... In any case I am going to finally place my order tomorrow after trying Google voice since even after 2G shutdown mobile data will continue...

So I was able to run a test, I recommend downloading Aurora app store and downloading the Google Dialer app and using that as your default calling app. As when I ran test calls to VM/ someone I know I get HD on the call so VOLTE is 100 percent for sure working then.

That is genius. I got my ultimate delivered today from Hong Kong. I was able to use Truecaller and Viber are essentially VOIP apps and need mobile internet or WiFi. But your solution is genius. I managed to install Google dialer and all calls go through without any internet connection and signal doesn't drop to 2G. I also got HD. thanks for finding a great solution. Let's hope Google dialer continues to work without Google services

So I'm on AT&T and my service was working perfectly fine with them until I took the latest firmware released today. Not sure if the update messed with anything but my Google Dialer and regular Dialer both do not make calls via AT&T, my T-Mobile sim still works
Hey thanks...I sold ultimate within 2 weeks as more and more apps were breaking without Google services and using Gspace was slow and frustrating...I moved to OPPO find x5 pro global version which had VoLTE on TMobile and after android upgrade I lost VoLTE even on OPPO T-Mobile. This is truly frustrating. Looks like they won't allow any Chinese phones in USA.... Only Samsung, OnePlus and Google pixel are welcome...
