[5.1.3] AndroidOS constantly downloading data in the background causing battery drain - OnePlus 5T Questions & Answers

My OnePlus 5T running the latest Oxygen OS 5.1.3 started having a battery drain issue since yesterday. Battery life went from almost 2 days to around 4-5 hours suddenly.
I checked around the phone and found out that "Android OS" is keeping the phone awake at all times since it continuously downloading some data in the background. It managed to download over a 100 GB of data in 1 day.
I've tried factory resetting the phone but the the problem came back in a few hours and it's managed to download around 13 GB again in the last 3 hours. I'm not aware of a way to figure out what exactly is being downloaded. Is there a way I can trace exactly what's happening in the background so that I can look for a fix?

Hmm, very interesting...
I'd suggest installing ES explorer. The app tracks the storage space and will give you a report on big files as well as the new ones.

it must be an app reported as androidOS
check your installed apps 3rd party and make a screenshot for use may be we can choose it out

If you click on Android OS in data usage, it will show what things goes under Android OS. Maybe one of those has the answer.

Apps stopped showing up in battery usage. Why?

Has anyone experienced this? As you can see from the attached shot, none of my App usage is showing up on my battery usage percentages. Usage includes a decent amount of time on Tapatalk, web browsing with Opera and some games. I even played about 20 minutes of Angry Birds to try to get an App to show up. Even Android OS is missing.
I've restarted multiple times, drained and charged to full, and even wiped battery stats in CWM. What the hell did I do? I'm really at a loss.

Think it has something to do with the "Desperado" kernel. I was running that before I flashed the Rogue Stock Repack and apps weren't showing up in the battery stats. After flashing the stock repack, the apps showed up again.
Thanks for the reply. I suspected it was kernel related, but I wasn't getting any replies in the kernel thread so I figured it was just me. I'll probably have to wait until Steady Hawkin sees my post(s).
Thanks again.

Obsessed with Battery Awake Time

Ok so I've posted in the general battery life thread and have become a bit obsessed of late with my battery stats - short is, I don't think they're good enough and I can't figure out why.
I recently installed Viper but went back to stock as I didn't really need the root or the features. My battery has never really lasted a full day even without the ROM changes. So, I'm now back on stock and factory reset without putting any restore back on, I started from scratch with everything.
There's still something not right with my phone being held awake. I've done the usual, turning off auto sync for nearly all apps, disabled location access for Google apps and have the brightness on 1 when indoors. I'm still getting an awake time of half of the total battery time.
Can anyone help me troubleshoot? I know I'll probably need wakelock access but I'd really like to get away from having to root my device again.
These are my latest screenshots from GSam and I've hardly used my phone today as I've been in meetings most of the day

Without the wakelocks info.... It's like finding a needle in a haystack.
You can disable location completely and see if it matters.
And do you listen to music? That adds to awake time every minute it's playing.

android.process.media draining battery

Since the update to MIUI 10 I have a problem with android.process.media draining the battery in the background. Today it used over 30% of my battery. It happens every couple of days and I think that clearing the cache and data for Downloads and Media Storage makes it temporarily go away, but it always comes back.
Has anyone else experienced this problem and found a solution? I have seen some related posts that suggest a corrupt SD card but I do not have an SD card in the phone.
Thanks!

Do you have some files/folders with non-ASCII or non-UTF-8 names? If yes, can you try to rename those or move out to another storage?
Try also to move out all your media files to somewhere else, to test if the problem occur on some media files.
Do you use custom ringtones/notifications sound? If yes, try also to use the default one.
I've removed all my pictures and videos and ran the deep clean feature of the built in cleaner app. After that the Media process went crazy once draining battery but I've had a couple of days with no problems. I use the new nature sounds for notification.
I will monitor and if it continues to happen I might be forced to try a factory reset since I can't seem to find the cause.
Thanks!

I'm on 10.3.10 Stable (Global) and everything seems normal. My phone never gets warm unless I play games.
With or without wifi, it can last at least a day on standby.

Android 10 Update Bug Screen Flickering

Have a look at this ...
scary
https://youtu.be/2K6OfvVCSus
My 835 did something similar the first "real" restart after Android 10 got installed, went on for ~20-25 seconds I would say, then I pressed the screen on/off button twice, all came back and I could unlock the SIM and continue ... hasn't happened since ... but was indeed scary
Marcher
I had the same problem too. Another reboot cleared it.
Didn't have this issue. But I noticed new battery settings and turned on the "protect battery" feature and now seemingly my sot has improved by a crazy amount I'm not sure if it's a bug.
The feature basically just makes it so your battery won't charge higher than 85%, and then when it says 100% after restart, it's the same as just 85% before. I can't post image for some reason, but I'm currently at 53 minutes of SoT and I'm still on 94%..

Got the same issue randomly (twice since Update), thought itˋs Hardware(GPU) Problem. Iˋm going to do a Clean Android10 Install if i have the time to.
