How about the battery drain issue that affected the S7 on some networks since the 2nd Oreo update last month?

Not sure, I just charge my phone when needed. I've never had an update or ota notification. I flashed this rom thirty minutes after it was officially released and I've been using it ever since with no problems. I'm still on CRG2 and I don't see this second Oreo update for the 930u

I bought a Galaxy S7 from this scammer on craigslist. It won't boot and was showing "an error has occurred while updating the device software". I did volume down+power+home buttons and it comes back to recovery mode. I selected factory reset and few other options, I just get "failed to mount /system (Invalid argument )" message. Can someone please help resolve this issue? I believe I need to flash with factory image but I don't know the history of this phone. I'd really appreciate some help.
Thanks.

This is the unlocked 930u firmware. 930v is Verizon. Flash it and find out. The 930 is the phone itself. Not quite sure what you mean by the 930. Thinking maybe u mean 935v which is the s7 edge

Thanks for your response. I found some video that explains how to bypass google lock (FRP Bypass). I had to load a combination firmware that allowed me to change the setting and enable developer mode. after that, I loaded firmware for this phone but it's in a reboot cycle. phone boots up fully, welcome screen, I start setting up the phone and BAM.. it reboots and that viscous cycle repeats.
Please advise.

One can only wonder what the heck verizon does to their software such that it requires a 612meg security patch huh?
Anyhow.. Time to use that nandroid i posed in the dev section to accept the OTA.. -or- I will post an updated one later this evening.
Probably 600mb of updated NFL bloatware included and the rest just the security update.
Any word yet on whether this is really just a 612Meg security patch?

Yes.. I'm s-off and unlocked. So after it updates, will it still be rooted? Or would I havery to re-root it? I'm just worried because my cable Internet isn't working for a few days and I need my wifi tether. Thanks
Ran into an issue with this update. It failed to install on 11/3 with a error code 409, but when I try to download it again by selecting "Check for new system updates" it says I have the latest update. I've rebooted a number of times and it shows up every time. From what little information I can find online, I have to reset my phone to factory then attempt to update again. I want to avoid this so here I am.
I'm on my phone so I can't properly upload the screenshots. I posted Google Drive links for now

I'm not rooted.
Update: I decided to just to a factory reset. Thankfully it worked and I am at the latest firmware.
So I've tried letting this update run a couple times. Downloading for the third time as I write this. When it tries to install, it just reboots into TWRP recovery and does nothing. Then I restart the phone and basically start the process all over again. Any guidance on how to get this squared away?? I met one of the members here with a card who S-offed, unlocked, rooted, my phone which I'm thankful for. Just want to be stock rooted is all. Don't really do much with custom roms on this phone. Thanks.

[ROOT][Samsung Galaxy Tab E][sm-t377p/sm-t560nu]

WHATS THIS?
This is my port of CF-AUTOROOT for the Samsung Galaxy TAB E.
You flash this at your own risk. Please ensure you have the stock ROM to hand downloaded from SAMMOBILE or a TWRP backup in case of problems. This will trip the knox counter.
Flash with ODIN 3.10.7 in the AP slot.
Load the respective file below into the AP slot and hit start.
cfautoroot_sm-t377p.tar
cfautoroot_sm-t560nu.tar
NOTE: ON SOME 5.1.1 DEVICES IT IS NECESSARY TO GO TO:
Settings -> Developer Options -> OEM unlocking
AND ENABLE OEM UNLOCK FIRST OR YOU MAY ENCOUNTER 'BLOCKED BY FRP LOCK' WHEN FLASHING.
STOCK TWRP IMAGE FOR SM-T377P
This is a link to the stock system, boot, modem image for the T377P in case anyone needs it. Needs to be restored with twrp.
Thanks to @shawn1976 for providing this.

Any suggestions on getting pass an FRP lock? My niece tried to root it but didn't turn on the enable OEM unlock. I just literally got it so don't have a back up and stock rom is no where I can find online even tried the Samsung Switch software and the T377P is not an option.

That was my plan ...however they do not support this model number yet so its not available to be reflashed. I checked sammobile as well figuring I could download firmware and use Odin to reflash and same situation.
There's a chance the sm-t377R4 firmware may flash as it's practically identical to the sprint firmware just a different csc.
Okay....will try and find that one.
Hi, I had a question. The Samsung Tab E is my first android device (I am a IOS user, so i know how to Jailbreak, but I don't know how to root!). My friend told me to root it, but I don't really know how to do it. Can you post a step by step tutorial. Also, after i rooted can i update my device to a newer version or do i have to remove the root. Lastly, how do you back up your device? Thank you! I appreciate your hard work!

You can follow the tutorial below, it's for the Tab A but the procedure is identical.
Obviously don't use the cf_autoroot file in the tutorial use the one here. Also note the PDA button in Odin is now called AP.

You can update your device with odin anytime you want but not via ota.
To back up you device you need to install TWRP.
Search Google for info on using TWRP.

I tried the t377R4 firmware that didn't work. Any idea on where I could track down a copy of the t377p? Odd I can't even use the Samsung Smart Switch or even Kies as it doesn't recognize the model number. Or if anyone has a backup available they can share please let me know.
I have a US Cellular Samsung Tab E SM-T377R4 and I rooted it using the procedure below. The root process went fine and everything is working well except Recovery Mode does not work. It just boots to a black blank screen when I try to go to Recovery Mode. But that's no big deal to me.

Surprised recovery doesn't work, considering the 2 devices are identical specs.
Try installing Twrp, you'll probably find that works OK.

What's the issue?
Rooting gone bad... Rooted my SM-T377P with KingRoot and there is an FRP Lock that comes up a week later. All of the custom ROM versions I have keep getting rejected by ODIN every time I try to flash them. The only other way I can think of doing this is to flash the stock ROM for the device.

Moto Z Play crashed while update

Yesterday i finally got the Android 7 update on my Moto Z Play. In Europe.
I put the phone on the charger before the update. When the update was halfway, it said : Fault.
After a few minutes the phone restarted his self and went to the start screen of moto, but nothing more. I have the idea that there is no more software on it. I can come in the boot but nothing more then that.
Does someone have a solution or the some problem?

Same thing happened to my Vzw Maxx.
Had a HAB error in bootloader, a partition crash sort of.
They warranted it with 4 refurbished phones.
All these did not work various reasons. The last had no camera.

OEM Unlock for Samsung S9 not shown

I have a brand new sealed Samsung S9 SM-G960F/DS which is most probably Exynos variant however I couldn't find OEM Unlock after activating the developer tools. I've googled that and was surprised that this is a recent Samsung policy and as mentioned by most users they've waited more than 7 days to see OEM Unlock so they can root the device. Any one was able to find an alternative or workaround solution instead of waiting 7 days since I don't have that much time to wait I need to root urgently before a birthday.

A member tested the combination ROM theory yesterday for the same purpose and it bootlooped their phone
The combination ROM will allow you to "OEM unlock" your device, but the RMM prenormal state will prevent you from flashing anything custom. I tried this when I first got my S9.
You need to wait the 7 days on stock in order to be able to actually bootloader unlock your device. Make sure to keep a SIM card in, connect a Samsung and Google account, and don't power it off. There is no workaround for this.

Wonder if it was because the combination ROM firmware is older than the current on the device
Did it factory reset after the flash? If not that might be causing the bootloop, or if the bootloader version is older on combination

I always did full TWRP nandroid backups rather than TiBu, but it's a good app
Not really impressed with the lengths Samsung are going to to prevent us (the phone OWNERS) from doing what we want with OUR own phones tbh
There was a workaround to update system apps with Nougat, literally no harm done to Samsung with us doing that but they still patched it in Oreo
Starting to feel more like an iPhone than an Android, wasn't the whole point of Android that it was basically open and unlocked for us to play with?
Thing is though, Samsung make one of the best android devices available and they know locking it down isn't going to hurt their sales

I appreciate if you can share his thread maybe he got the wrong ROM that bricked the phone.

[Question] Bricked A5 2017?

Hey, recently I booted up my phone and it said custom binary locked by frp lock, or something along those lines, since then I came a lot further/closer to fixing it. As now when I boot it up says: An error has occurred while updating the device software. Use the Emergency recovery function in the Smart Switch PC software.
When i try to download/reflash new software it fails because it's blocked by FRP lock, anyway to fix this?
Thanks in advance.

No, because I get blocked by the frp lock
Extract the firmware with a different archiver.
Ensure the download hasn't been interrupted and download it with something else.
Otherwise, the firmware might actually not be original. It has to be a stock touchwiz/samsung experience rom to pass FRP (in Odin). Not a custom rom.

Hmm, it could be that, but do you have any idea on where to get stock firmware with speeds higher than 15 Kbps

Even though 15 is written, actual speeds should be much higher than 15 and resumable.

I just found another way to download the firmware, and it worked! Thank you so much, although now i don't have a proper excuse to buy the OnePlus 6T

Hey man, i just downloaded the official firmware, and flashed it regurarly through odin, you have to make sure the firmware is stock, otherwise it will not work.
Hey, could you tell me where you downloaded the firmware faster?
