Sony Ericsson W200i unlocking - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

Dear All,
At the outset, apologies if this request is not in the right thread, however i think it should be, and if not, i am more than happy to get i removed and be moved it to the right one!
I found a brand new sony ericsson w200i phone in my garage and thought of putting it to use. It is locked to the orange network in the UK and I was wondering if any one has the right firmwares and steps to get it unlocked? That's all my request is.
I am more than happy to provide any further details, if required.
Also, I have tried searching on google for over 3 days now however I have not been able to find the firmwares (SEtools and the flash files). I may know the steps a bit as there still exist the videos, however if anyone with right guidance can help, it would be a big favour as I am planning to gift this phone to someone who can not afford a phone.
many thanks in advance!

Wow...
The Sony Ericsson W200i Walkman device is really not a very active device for developments and such.
The following area of the forum is probably your best bet regarding anything for your device.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-mini
Don't worry about the "Xperia Mini" reference because that area basically morphed into a multi device area for the "Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini, Mini Pro, Xperia Pro, Active, Ray, Live with Walkman" devices.
Good Luck!

Sony Xperia SX SO-05D MT28 - support.

I have managed to acquire this amazing phone direct from Japan. Everything is working well - but I was wondering if there is any customisations available for the phone - does anyone have any links to support information? Because it was only released for Japanese markets, it difficult to find much information about the phone. I was looking specifically for:
1. Cases
2. Anti reflective/fingerprint screen protectors
3. Rooting instructions.
Thank you
This phone really is a very Japan-specific phone and you're the first person I've seen on XDA who owns one. As far as I know you can't unlock the bootloaders on Docomo devices, so you're best off trying all possible root exploits and hope one of them works (look at those for the T or TX, they're the same as the SX software-wise, not the S). If you're already on Jelly Bean chances are you're not going to be able to root it. You're probably best off looking on Japanese forums for more information. Chrome with Google Translate should help you get started.
On the accessory part, well, Amazon or eBay will be your best shot. Since the phone is only sold in Japan you can't expect any other store to have anything available...
Good luck, enjoy your phone! It's really one of the best-looking Xperia's there is!

Much more helpful answer ending a positive note. Thanks for that... will see if anyone else able to contribute.
I found this from the 2nd or third result a Google Search for Xperia SX root. BTW, that was published on 2012, so it's not exactly new.
Also, have you tried the other methods, like Bin4ry's or the other one click method that's floating around?
I've moved this thread to the Q&A forum where it should have been created originally.
I've also had a cleanup here.. Let's try and keep things on-topic and friendly henceforth.

Hey, thank you, I have tried this now and the rooting works...
Now just the other questions about cases...
Hahaha, trimmed down to like 4 posts, oh well. About the cases, I think you're definitely gonna have to fire up Google Translate and get ready to spend some yens. You seem to be the only one around here with an XSX, so I doubt you're gonna get much guidance.
Right - if anyone is looking.
1. Rooting - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=36014406
2. Anti reflective screen protector - http://www.amazon.co.uk/atFoliX-FX-...=1369603591&sr=1-19&keywords=xperia+sx+screen
I have not come across a decent case yet.
Hope it helps some people.
Hey Folks,
Here's my contribution:
1. Rooting for Current latest ICS firmware (.137):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=41311827&postcount=205
2. Plastic Cases for Xperia SX (I bought my phone from them, very good service):
http://www.kyoex.com/so-05d-cases-covers/
3. Alternative Cases (Leather cases that Fit the Xperia Sola will be a very good fit for the SX). I love leather sleeves, I bought this from Amazon:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B007NIDD4M
Hope this helps.
Leather Cases!
Hey Folks,
I was searching around the internet for a long time and found that PDair makes leather cases for the SX but supplies it to Japanese companies for distribution.
I sent them an email and now they have added the phone cases to their worldwide shipping website:
http://www.pdair.com/index.php/smartphone-cell-phone-pda/sony-ericsson/sony-xperia-sx-so-05d.html
Enjoy
The phone comes with screen protector already on. Look and you'll see that is there.

Acro HD (SO-03D) Will not get official JB

Since I've looked for the same thing, I thought I'll make it easier for other people who got the Japanese version of the Acro S.
According to Docomo, even though it says that the Acro HD is aligable to updadate til 2015 (2015年11月30日まで):
http://www.nttdocomo.co.jp/support/utilization/product_update/list/so03d/
According to this latest post they made on their site, Its not on the list of devices which will get the 4.1:
http://www.nttdocomo.co.jp/info/notice/page/130508_00.html
Sony and Docomo are ****ty companies
After having 3 Sony devices, its time to try another brand... :crying:
PS.
I didn't know where to post this,
If there are some other people sitting on their asses waiting for an official update (like me), they can forget about it. at least here in Japan. Just root your phones and flash something you seem to like - at least you won't get stuck with all the Sony and Docomo bloatwares ! I mean, who needs 3 different Home applications ?!?!
As I understand it, the Acro S will get a JB update, but the Acro HD won't !
EDIT: Added the reply from DOCOMO (06/08/2013) during this time Android 4.3 Has already been released.(for other devices)

I talked with several Docomo employees but they had no idea what's going on, most didn't even notice Sony Ericsson was no longer on the new devices XD
They couldn't help nor answer any of my questions including the managers of the branches I went to.
Yodobashi Camera's Docomo was also not helpul!
I mailed sony, in Japanese of course and I'm waiting for an answer... though I'm sure they will blame it on Docomo, and that they should be in charge of updates.
The costumer service here in Japan is quite good, but if you ignore the fake smiles, and text-book answers, they can't help you much, don't know much, and well... Just doin' their job of taking your money, provided no explanation, knowing very little English to none, and well, being, how do you say this... しつこい。。。
Thats my two-cents on this matter.
When I'll get an official reply from SONY, I'll post it here.

You can, but its not official and I guess you will lose all the 'good' docomo apps. like the e-wallet and InfraRed etc.
why can't we get a normal official update like the rest of the world ... they really expect japanese people to go out and get a new phone every year.
its outrageous !
I think it was the last Sony Ericsson ... well, no more SONY for me...
I've yet to receive a reply from them
they will join my blacklist ... along with HP...

The context was this:
"Hello,
I've got a Sony Ericsson Xperia Acro HD SO-03D from Docomo.
I wondered when this device will get a Jelly-Bean 4.1 and above update.
The rest of the world, and the other-than-japan Acro S version, already gotten an official JB update several months ago.
Why is it that a Japanese based company doesn't release updates for the japanese costumers?
Please get back to me.
Respectfully,
XYZ"
EDIT: Sent the same Email to Docomo as well.
I will post the reply as soon as I get one ...
The reply from DOCOMO:
Dear Customer,
Thank you for your inquiry.
This is M. Saito from the docomo Mail Center.
We are very sorry for the trouble, but regarding the Xperia acro HD SO-03D provided by DOCOMO, we have no plans to release an OS version update to Android 4.1.
Regarding the above model, it is not possible to implement an update due to hardware restrictions, etc. We would greatly appreciate your kind understanding.
I am sorry that we were not able to meet your request.
We sincerely look forward to your continued patronage towards DOCOMO.
Sincerely,
M. Saito

Another reply from DOCOMO:
Dear Customer,
Thank you for contacting us again.
This is S. Igarashi from the docomo Mail Center.
As we mentioned in our earlier reply, we do not have any plans to provide an OS version update to Android 4.1 for the Xperia acro HD SO-03D due to hardware restrictions etc. We would appreciate your understanding regarding this.
Furthermore, performing a procedure to “root” the Android OS is not something that is recognized or accepted by DOCOMO.
*”Rooting” a phone refers to the performing of operations that allow unauthorized changes to be made to the phone’s settings by enabling the user to gain administrative rights to which they would not ordinarily have access.
Please understand that DOCOMO does not provide support for “rooting” operations, and if you root the phone under your own responsibility and discretion, DOCOMO’s warranty will be invalid even if the phone malfunctions or is damaged, etc.
We are sorry for not being able to provide you with the answer you were hoping for.
DOCOMO listens to each and every opinion from our customers and will continue to strive to provide better products and services to satisfy our customers’ needs.
We look forward to your continued patronage.
Sincerely,
S. Igarashi

Sorry but no official 4.1
You'll have to root and update it yourself with a custom ROM ...
there is an official 4.0.4 though ... or at least I think there is .... hehe ...

Which ROM/Bootloader question.

Hi guys. Wasn't getting much of a response in the sticky.
My second issue is, I live abroad. To get it working abroad with a foreign SIM, I'd have to unlock the bootloader right? My phone says unlocking the bootloader is not possible. Is there any way to crack through this? I have contacted my provider about it before and they wanted me to buy hundreds worth of credit to unlock it, the thieves. It's a pay-as-you-go phone, it's not on a plan.
Any advice would be very much appreciated! Cheers guys!

Well if you want to get rid of the slide up game launcher opening just delet the xperia play launcher app that is in the shape of a circle and says xperia play with a root uninstaller
Sent from my Xperia Play (r800x)
As for your second question asking about How to unlock your bootloader when unlockable=NO.. That's the only way and unfortunately it is paid.
@wedgess was spot on, questions about what the best / most stable / prettiest ROM or kernel is are strictly prohibited on XDA. Since your other question is a valid question I've edited out the other part and will leave the thread open.
Kind regards,
Tijmen
Excuse me but what sense does that make? It just increases chances of people messing up their phones. If its clutter you're worried about, I did ask in the sticky but nobody responded. The question of best ROM for Xperia Play is a very valid one because the Play obviously has extra considerations to be made. I was asking for thoughts on going full custom, or just a debloat, and where to find a debloat. Nothing wrong with that and you should not have edited the post.

Phones LineageOS

Hi!
Knows anyone a Phone which is well and official supported by Lineage, has physical buttons like most of the Samsung Phones, a changeable battery and which is not too expensive but doesn't has too bad components. So I don't play with my phone, but I don't like it when the phone is laggy.
Thank you

ZTE Blade V8 Pro Update Servers Unavailable

I have recently purchased the ZTE Blade V8 Pro since my old phone died and I needed a powerful, budget phone. I bought it to only find out that the phone is still on Android 6.0.1 but can be upgraded to Android 7.1.1. According to the internet ZTE's update servers are down right now because they are about to roll out a new update or google took away their ability. I am also under the impression that the raw update files for my phone are floating around the internet and I can put them on my SD card and do the update that way. I was wondering if anyone has the most recent update and security patch for my phone and if so can they send me said files. Even if someone could point me in the right direction that would be great.
Edit: The internet has made it clear that this is the most recent update: Z978V1.0.0B19
