LineageOS and Firmware Question - OnePlus 5T Questions & Answers

I am running the latest LineageOS 15.1.
As I switched to LOS directly after my purchase I am wondering if I have to update the firmware separately or if the LOS builds have the latest ones included.
If it is necessary to update them on my own:
Can I use the Firmware files from this thread Doc's Oneplus 5T Firmwares and just flash them, or will I loose my files or brick my device this way?

yes / no

I tried lineageos
but it is laggy and slow
I suggest for you to try aosp based rom like pixel experience
it is better in every way
also use google camera on that rom it is flawless

In the lineage thread there is a separate link for firmware downloads. If you plan on sticking with lineage i'd recommend bookmarking their thread and using the latest firmware from their sourceforge.

Update to a newer version of a ROM using updated files from another ROM

I was wondering, theoretically (I'm not planning on doing it, I was just interested as I am trying to find out more about ROM development and how it works), could I take an updated ROM, e.g. Lineage OS 15.1, that is not supported by my device on the latest version, but was supported on the last version, and take a ROM that is working on android 8.1 (the same as Lineage OS 15.1), and combine them together to make a working Lineage OS 15.1 port for my phone.
Is this how porting works?
Sorry if this is the wrong place for a question like this, but I wasn't sure where else to put it.

Huwaei Mate SE Treble Rom installation

I'm hoping to install LineageOS 15.1 on my Huwaei Mate SE. I have already unlocked it and installed the oreo TWRP. Is it possible to just install the honor7X version of the treble lineageOS rom, or do I have to do something else?
Edit: I've also seen the openkirin lineageOS v4. Is there a different between that and the Treble lineageOS?

OpenKirin's LineageOS v4 is a treble rom, installed through fastboot ONLY.
Do NOT use TWRP to install!
Their LineageOS v4 is very good and stable, but does not support VOLTE, and the camera app locks up on portrait and wide aperture mode. Because of these bugs, I went back to stock emui and will definitely try the next OpenKirin update.
I recommend you the Pixel Experience Rom from the Treble forums, for me is the best rom available, im so far very happy with it. Even though is not in the same level of other roms in terms of customizations it is also way less buggy than them. I would put battery life in the same level as stock while performing better. Ofc no Volte support but i dont think any rom besides stock does Volte so.

Alternative to MIUI stabe ROM for Mi9 SE

Hey guys,
Could you please recommend alternative to MIUI ROM for Mi9 SE?
My GF using this phone with Pixel Experience, but it is no longer supported, so I'm looking for something else.
The point - it has to be stable.
What would you recommend?
At this moment, crDroid is the most developed and stable AOSP ROM.
Thank you. Is there any specific way to flash from PE?
Just follow the developer's instructions on crDroid thread (first page) and check http://svr4.ru/projects/grus/ for updates (read read.me before updating).
You can actually dirty flash over pixel experience, that way you keep your settings and apps. Just flash the newer firmware, then crdroid.

Why there is no Oxygen OS unnoficial rom for our OP3T ?

Hello guys,
There is a lot of customs roms for our OP3T but why there is no Oxygen OS roms unnoficial (based on the latest OOS build) for our OP3T, since OOS is a very good os, i don't understand.
It's not possible ?
Thanks guys
There are OOS based ROMs such as theOne3OS, Experience etc. They have mostly been debloated versions of the official ROM with some baked-in enhancements like Magisk modules. There are no OOS ROMs based on Android 10 AFAIK. Not sure how difficult it is to port stable official Android 10 ROMs from other OnePlus devices.

OOS is closed source - nobody (but OnePlus) has source code for. The non-OOS custom roms are source build (aosp and caf open source based). The OOS based roms are just repacks of the original OOS. OOS is no longer supported for op3/t - after OOS 9.0.6 there is nothing to repack.
Like the others said repacks are availible, if you want to try to run a newer oxygen os version than is officially availible you have the biggest chance with the unofficial gsi support route and a oxygenos gsi rom. But i don't expect it to work well so only do it if you enjoy tinkering with your phone and are an experienced flasher who has the neccesary backups.
OneUi is closed source too.
Why have old galaxy phones OneUi-costum rom from new galaxy Devices?

Hard to say on this general basis. Maybe gsi.
I suggest you read the threads of such roms and ask the dev if those threads doesn't answer your question.
Then you can do the same for oos. I'm sure many people will appriciate your work.

Installed official Lineage 18.1

Hi, a while back I had succesfully installed Official LOS 18.1, after jumping over a few hurdles. As I update and manage several Lineage phones at home, it gets a bit confusing and this has been the newest addition.
My question, can I apply the nighty updates in a simple manner via recovery using the zip OR will I neecd to jump the hurdles again, ab partition etc?
bump
From the information I've read (but not tried), it sounds like you should be able to use the Lineage updater to do incremental updates as long as you are in the same major version (e.g. 18.1, 17.1, etc)
What he said. Just apply from Lineage Updater.
Do you have the flashable zip for official LineageOS 18.1? on the site i only find LineageOS 20 but it restarts almost every app because of really low free RAM
