Call spam filter - LG G7 ThinQ Questions & Answers

I came from a pixel 1... Google has awesome spam filtering which I'm just now realizing because my phone rings about ten times a day instead of the usual 2 ... Is there any way to sideload Google dialer for spam filtering or does lg have a spam block available?
Thanks in advance

Blocking spam SMS and MMS

Is there a way (or a program) that can block spam texts? I'm using WM 6.5, build 21202.5.0.0. I also use T-Mobile prepaid as the account for the phone. I get a ton of sms and mms spam from various companies, and would love to be able to block that nonsense. Most of it is sent with no option to opt out of receiving the messages. I was hoping there is some sort of program that can be installed that can filter the receipt of any of that stuff so it can't contribute to taking minutes off my sms/mms charges. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
I for myself use Call SMS Blocker (full version needs to be paid for), which is really useful - blocking SMS and calls from several numbers like my ex gf, hehe ;-)
But there are also useful apps out there for free, like Call Firewall and SMS Blocker. Just google around.
gotta call tmobile and ask them to block 'priority services'
Try Postman: The SMS Spam Filter for your Android Phone
Postman is an Anti Spam application that lets you filter unwanted SPAM SMS.The application filters SMS and makes sure they don't appear in your inbox.
You can also configure the software to block messages from unknown senders or even create a trusted senders list.
Postman is available for Free from the Android Market. Please do check it out.
Thanks

Spam Calls Not Recognized

I've been getting a large volume of spam calls to my cellphone recently. I thought Google implemented a spam filter in the newest version of the Phone app, but all my calls appear as regular calls.
Is anyone elses spam call functionality working? I'm on AT&T and Android 7.0 build NRD70S
Most of my spam calls come from my office number which forwards to my Google Voice number and are pretty random so no, I have not seen a call coming in marked as spam, however, I do report as spam and block them and don't see them again after that point.
Most are robo calls selling google ranking crap, some are loan info and some politics campaign crap though I stopped providing my phone number for anything political years ago.

Send "suspected spam" calls straight to voicemail?

Is there a way to do this so that my phone doesn't even ring for calls the Google phone app thinks are spam?
you can block and report them as spam from the recents list of the phone app. no ring, no voicemail
I wish it was possible to do this. Every spam call I get comes from a new number, so blocking it doesn't make a difference and I'd rather not use a 3rd party app if I didn't have to.

It only wont make a difference if you dont take action.
Once blocked, how do you know its not coming from that same number in the future?
Only takes a second, and the number gets reported as well.
Some of my spam calls go straight to voicemail without ringing or even showing as a received call. I hope they are from numbers that I have already blocked but with no record of the call I can't tell. Ideally I would like to block them AND keep them from leaving a voicemail.

SMART Spam Protection/Caller ID for Text Messages

Does anyone know if there is a way to apply the SPAM protection feature used for incoming calls on text messages? I'd like to figure out who sent a text from a group message. Thanks

SMART spam protection only works for calls, not text messages. You can't make it do something the app/service wasn't built to do.
As for finding out who sent a message you can use Google or other apps (to name a couple: Mr. Number, privacystar, youmail) to search for the number.
Keep in mind this doesn't guarantee you find out whom the number is associated with. Some providers (MVNO, etc) don't register a name and associated number with CNAM.

What to do about spam calls? Can Google Dialer have enabled its Call Screening feature?

I am getting a lot of spam calls. They have even started leaving voice messages so just blocking won't work. I have installed the Google Dialer from the play store. But it doesn't seem to have any of the call screening options like it does on the Pixel. Can this somehow be enabled?
Any recomendations on heavy duty spam protection?
