Treble Support - Moto Z2 Play Questions & Answers

Is there and rom with Treble Support, and if not why don't the developers make rom with Treble Support as it will be easier to get different roms and updates. :fingers-crossed:

I don't think Treble works on the Z as it is running 32bit roms

There is treble support right now, however it's in a kind of 'private' testing phase at the moment.

And, Android Pie successfully booted up in this device.

Pixel Experience 8.1 [ALBUS]

Hi
I would love to start developing Rom for Albus. Does anyone want to work with me to try to develop the Pixel Experience?
Sounds great, but what a shame that I don't have much time

If you need someone to test, you can talk to me. Telegram: +55 86 999416164.
maybe @dlproject and @Junior Passos and @davidsonsjesus and @rahulsnair are up for the task? What do you guys say?
pixel experience is awesome! i would love to have it and I'm pretty sure the community would to. Oreo or Pie it would be amazing. maybe it would be wise to wait for the release of kernels and such from Pie 9.0 for ALBUS since the current kernel is limited to android 8.0 but that would be you guyses call, if the current set of tools allows Pixel Experience to be experienced than bring it on! pretty please!!!!!
You can have the pixel experience rom using project treble.
But the vendor is outdated it. And the only man who is create rom on project treble is the developer from lineage 15.1.
In order to use the leatest version of any rom for excample AEX, Pixel Experience and other rooms the kernel must be update to the leatest security fix.
I was succsesufull flash AEX Oreo but can't update because to the older version of the security path.

could you please elaborate more specifically? I understand that project treble separates the firmware files in two categories, the essential (aka hardware) and the substantial (aka software), so we would get the essential of ALBUS and combine with the substantial of PIXEL 2, is that what you are suggesting? But for the "fusion" to work both firmwares must be on the same security patch.. is that what you mean or did I understand it incorrectly?

Yes. We have only one treble relase for the LOS 15.1 and the security patch is only to octombre. If you use version in augost you will have a bootloop.
I ask the dev in LOS 15.1 to update the treble version so we can use the vendor but he don't response.
I heard that project treble is way harder to work with then anybody anticipated and that it is currently a nightmare to be avoided. I say it's worth trying though since it's opportunity. What's the name of the dev? Ping him here in this topic

Follow this guide
https://forum.xda-developers.com/lenovo-p2/how-to/how-to-flash-android-p-semi-gsi-lenovo-t3817088
Whichever GSI rom you wanted to flash this would be the procedure just flash the GSI you wanted to but i recommend taking a full backup of your current rom if anything goes wrong.

I have setup android P GSI using LOS initially, but you mentioned Havoc and P GSI as being better, and was hoping for a setup without LOS.
Thanks a lot.

I haven't said anything is better i just said that i have try these GSI. Android p is nice but have some bugs like fingerprint gesture and camera that's why i left that rom.
Havoc is officially release for our device so i will not recommend you to flash Havoc GSI. Here is the link
https://forum.xda-developers.com/lenovo-p2/development/rom-havoc-os-t3823765
Just flash it as a normal rom.

Nah, device-specific functions like FP gestures don't work out of box. Someone posted somewhere on our forums flashable zip for GSI's to make that function work. It's fresh thread, saw it today. I only did quick GSI test but everything else seems to work just fine.
I'm going to fully test one of these treble ROMs in upcoming days but actually I'm thinking which one should I flash.

Yep and I was frustated while testing it. I can't recommend using official GSI version since it was broken and horrible experience. Even simple things like changing accent colour, theme was not working properly. I encountered some irritating bugs that just pissed me off which leaded me to instant ROM change. And I was not the only one. The biggest flaw was that I couldn't register my device to use google services properly. Even if I managed to get certification it was just gone after couple of minutes. Not saying about SafetyNet because passing it wasn't even possible.
I don't know how's the current state but I recommend to use Fullbustah's P2 version if you want have most stable RR experience.
I should have screenshots of what I experienced with that GSI somewhere, I will try to find them tommorow.

Does stock AOSP work well on ZUK Z2 via treble?

I am getting tired of custom roms breaking every other month for me, and I just want something stable. Has treble actually done anything to help in this regard? Can I just download Android 8.1 treble without any modifications and expect it to work right out of the box, or is it wishful thinking?

Sadly you can't 'cause treble was added on Oreo for the 1st time. You must upgrade to android 8.x (with treble support, as not every device with oreo support treble) and than you can do "anything" you want.
The biggest problem is /vendor partition. If your OEM doesn't have added it you will have lots of troubles and you won't be able to flash any treble ROMs
The fact of the matter is that there is no way to upgrade to android 8.0. It is unlikely that a vendor will work from another phone zte 9 vite, i have zte blade A6.

even if it is old think that on the part of the manufacturer there was so much support and both the developers share think this device does not have a future so promising had a lot of abandonment of ROMs like Lineage OS and pixelexperience I think I'm almost wanting to change the device by another think there will not be much for this device since it is becoming outdated
