Extracting KDZ files? - LG G7 ThinQ Questions & Answers

How do I extract a kdz file? When I unlocked my bootloader I forgot to backup my system and now I wanted to mess with the default boot.img but it's trapped in a kdz file that I found online. Usual methods for extracting kdz file failed and also LGUP gives me an error that it doesn't support my phone. Does anyone have any way of extracting one or at least system + image file of "710em" model (preferably 10f but anything will do).

you do not need to extract it you can use the kdz with LGUP directly if you want to recover the phone

How do I extract/create KDZ files

I'm sorry if this has been asked before but i'm having trouble finding a straight answer.
How does one create a KDZ file?
My G4 won't boot. I would like to send it in for repair as it hasn't been rooted or unlocked but i have flashed a MM KDZ file on it. So I'd like to attempt to get the original software back on but the KDZ file for my brand (815K) is not available anywhere i can see. I have another G4 here with the correct software on it and i would like to extract that software to a KDZ file and install it on another phone with LGUP.
Is that possible? is there another way to accomplish what i want to do? Do you think it would be a problem seeing as it hasn't been rooted or anything :/
Kind regards
You could always take a system image of the secondary phone and push it accross to your original. Providing you can still access download mode. Have you tried factory reset first?
Yes! That's exactly what I want to do, but how do I take and transfer the system image though?
I have tired a few factory resets. At this point it will only boot into download mode.
Use this root tutorial and just skip the root injection parts.

Ok, cheers mate i will look into doing that tonight
Crap, hit a snag. It says i have to place my system.img file on the phones internal storage.. but its not booting
In download mode you should be able to see your device in the computer file systems. Like when you plug a usb into it. Copy the file over that way. Thats the way i put my sys image on. I was uaing imac tho.

LGUP tool flash KDZ file for return to stock upgrade/downgrade 100 percent working

I found LG Flash Tool 2014 is not working any more for flash KDZ file go back to stock or downgrade/upgrade. LGUP is working better for go back to stock flash KDZ file. I bought G3 it came with Marshallow I looked everywhere but did not find any method working except use LGUP tool to downgrade or upgrade:
Download from this Vietnamese tread, it's working I flashed KDZ to downgraded from MM to Kitkat (D85010C firmware). It should work with other firmware LP 5.0 or MM 6.0.

For install the tool you just need to run the two Msi files, comport should be under port 41 under device manager I think. LG Mobile driver (LGMobileDriver_WHQL_Ver_4.2.0_001.exe ) should also install before LGUP tool.
Simple instruction include in readme text file with the LGUP zip file. For KDZ fine when first open LGUP you might not able to browse for it, close LGUP and copy/move KDZ file you want to flash to the same directory as LGUP tool (C:\Program Files (x86)\LG Electronics\LGUP\model\8974). Open LGUP again it should show KDZ file, for downgrade just choose refurbish it should work it take 2-3 minutes to flash it. Once the phone reset and start setup you can unplug the phone from the computer.
Note my computer is Windows 7, someone can try on Windows 10 and confirm it's working, cheers
Correction the Kitkat firmware I flashed was: D85110C_00.kdz for Kitkat on G3 D851

1.- Download the KDZ v20p and extract DLL from there.
*KDZ v20p MM: https://lg-firmwares.com/download-file/?fileId=9257
*KDZ Extractor: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2600575
2.- Move the extracted DLL to the LGUP directory and replace the old DLL (Example: C:\Program files\LG Electronics\LGUP\model\8994)
3.- Now flash the kdz v20p and then you can flash any other KDZ.

Click to collapse
Thank you, got it fixed by using dll what stefan.kurz pointed.

V495 LGUp LG Flash Tool not working

I am trying to flash the TOT and DLL files from https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g-pad-83/general/fix-v495-using-uk495-kdz-t3420711.
With LGUp, it sees my device and sees the com port, but it says unknown model and it cannot connect to it
With LGFlashTool, I get an error that says "Failed previous load()" when I try to perform the upload to the device. (The device is in download mode and I've moved the megalock file and selected the appropriate DLL and TOT file).
I have followed the instructions in several "how to flash TOT" threads and tried different versions of LGUp and LGFlashTool with the same results.
I am currently on 5.0.2 stock rooted and using a Windows 10 computer. My goal is to get completely stock with no evidence of root to be able to use apps that will not work on rooted devices. I have been unsuccessful in all attempts to hide root.
Has anyone else seen the same problems and did you solve them? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
