Can I install MIUI 8.7.26 (MIUI10) without worrying about ARB? - Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro Questions & Answers

I have a Redmi Note 5 Global with MIUI 9.5.19, and I want to install 8.7.26 (MIUI10) because I can't unlock my bootloader yet (14 days to go).
My question is: can I do that safely without bricking my device? And can I go back to MIUI 9.5.19 if I wanted to?
Thanks!

I did same thing and it worked flawlessly.

You have a locked bootloader? You used a recovery ROM or a fastboot ROM (MiFlash tool)?
Thanks!

Just update through the phones settings with the zip file. You might need to try different MIUI 10 versions. There is always only one version you can go to from your current MIUI 9 version. Took me 4 tries but now it's working great

I flashed MIUI 8.7.26 through the method you mentioned without issues, but it has so many bugs, especially with notifications on lockscreen that bother me so much. Do you know if I can revert back to global stable MIUI 9 with the same method without issues with ARB?

Is that still the case? I have a mix 2 with MIUI Global 10.0 stable 10.0.2 .0. Does it still not have anti rollback protection? Would I be safe to unlock the bootloader and install any custom ROM?

There's info on it in this thread of mine, and you can always unlock and flash custom ROMs. Just make sure that when you go back to MIUI that you flash MIUI via fastboot or MiFlash and not TWRP. Also use MiFlash to switch between MIUI beta and stable and when downgrading MIUI. But there is no problem with custom ROMs.

Thank you so much for the response. Your thread looks like it is jam-packed with some really useful information. I'm certainly going to read through it. In any case, in a nutshell does this mean that my phone currently does not have the anti roll back protection on it?

Hi,
another (maybe noob) question: MIUI Beta versions has the anti-roll back system too? or it's safe to flash any version
thanks in advance
hi i am on currently miui 8.11.22 tried to flash Los but getting error : 7.
is it safe to downgrade to miui 8.4.19 via fastboot?

Am I safe to proceed?

I'll be able to unlock my bootloader in less than 24h, and the first ROM I want to try is the Pixel Experience ROM (android P). I'm currently on MIUI 10 8.8.23 Global version. Can I just unlock the bootloader, flash RedWolf Recovery through adb, do a full wipe and flash Pixel ROM without worrying about ARB or anything?
Thanks!

Umm dude read my post again. I said I'm on MIUI 10 8.8.23 (which is the latest one), I don't want to flash MIUI, but I want to flash Pixel Experience ROM. How will that trigger ARB? I understand very well that if I want to go back to MIUI, I need to flash the latest version of MIUI available.

Just flash pixel ROM
For other custom ROMs do not flash any firmware file recommended by custom ROM developer, because those firmware files are 8.7.5 MIUI firmware. If you try to flash firmware files then you are going to brick your device

Not yet, still 2 hours to go.
I'm on the latest MIUI 10.0.0.1 stable Chinese.
I just want to flash the latest Global. Can I do this by just unlocking bootloader, flash RedWolf Recovery, then flash the latest Global recovery.zip file? Or do I need to worry about ARB?
If you want to go back, make sure you will flash these version or higher

Q about rollback

—Answered— Thank You!!
Hi, I just bought Redmi Note 5 today and after I turn it on, it is already on MIUI 10 8.7.5 Global Beta. The question is, can I roll it back to to MIUI 9.6 Global Stable? Because I found this rom isn't comfortable and I found so many bugs. I don't want to update it to MIUI 10 stable yet because ppl in MIUI forums complained that there are some bugs.
Thanks
Wtf...New device came with Developer beta rom?

8.7.5 miui 10 is ARB3 you can rollback to 9.5 miui 9.5.17.0 thats last ARB3..
or get 9.6.4.0 thats ARB4.
How come new device comes with beta ROM?? Something wrong with reseller please contact ask them
Right now your device is on arb3 (no antirollback) you can upgrade to latest version with firmware less ROM

You can directly go from MIUI10 to 9.5.19
After downgrading just do a factory reset

If you have twrp recovery then just flash 9.6.2.0 fw less rom
Hi. I have a Redmi Note 5 (pro) Global version. I hate MIUI 10 too and want to roll back to 9.5.19 (which seems less buggy than 9.6.x) . Got the ROM from a great thread from miui dot com which I can't post being new here
The updater app tells me that I can't flash older versions
Recovery mode doesn't even offer flashing ROMs.
I can't unlock the bootloader now (have tried once, now have to wait 360hrs to try again??)
Am I stuck with MIUI 10?
THanks

question about switching ROM while using Xiaomi.eu with ARP

Hello. I have been using Xiaomi.eu 20.6.18 based on MIUI 12.1
In a few days I think that they will release MIUI 12.0 based stable release but my phone has ARP so I think that downgrading will brick it, don't it?
Anyway, this weekly ROM is working well at the moment but I would like to use the stable version someday. I have some doubts so I will put numbers in them:
1. Can I go back to MIUI 12.0 based ROM while using MIUI 12.1 based ROM or not? without triggering anti-rollback
2. Can I switch to Pixel Experience (for example) which is using Android 10? It is a newer version of Android but I don't know how MIUI ARP handles it
3. If the point 2 answer is 'yes', I suppose that ARP is gone (at least Xiaomi's one) so, can I install Xiaomi.eu MIUI 12.0 from Pixel Experience? (I will be downgrading I know)
Thanks all of you for your future answers, and sorry for the number of questions. Any doubt about my explanation or something just ask
Arb only matters if u go back to very old version of miui ie, 9 and some version of miui 10....it doesn't matter with custom ROMs also...u can also check ur current arb status
No arb was implemented with miui 9.5.19 (global stable), so u can go till this version without bricking ur phone.
As u r on latest beta u have an index value of 4.

I will recommend to go with fast boot method if u plan returning to miui 11

Yes u can use the recovery method for returning back to miui 11.
Why i was recommending the fast boot method?
Bcoz I've seen if u flash global miui after flashing china based/eu roms, u cannot change ur region to other country other than china. Obviously this can be fixed by editing build.prop or flash region fix but u will have to root in the 1st case.
But u can try recovery method brother.
Yes miui 12 is better than 11 bcoz of new privacy features, ios style control center, no miui optimization api.
