Rom for OnePlus 5T with "off mode alarm" and direct "Face unlock" - OnePlus 5T Questions & Answers

[I opened same thread at oneplus forum with no answers]
Hello everyone,
I'm looking for an alternative custom ROM for the OnePlus 5T with this two features:
- off mode alarm [the alarm will boot the phone if it is switched off at the alarm time]
- direct face unlock [like on Oxygen OS, you don't have to swipe to get to the home screen]
Something that is not a must have but would be anyway really nice is a google freed ROM so I can decide for myself if I want to use google and which parts of gapps I want to use. I know that google is necessary for face unlock.
I know that Oxygen OS is almost what I'm looking for, but the navigation bar, even with additional apps, is not exactly smooth to me. On the other hand I enjoy testing different ROMs and looking into features other developers implemented in their ROMs.
I tried OmniRom and ResurrectionRemix, both worked pretty smooth, but neither have the off mode alarm nor direct face unlock. When I try a ROM I like to have it for about one month on my daily device to see how good it works for me. So I could try all the ROMs on here XDA and test which the features have I want and go to the next ROM if the main-features are missing.
As a part of the community I hope you can give me some examples for custom ROMs with these two main-features. Here on XDA a searched in the "ROM" forum for "alarm" and "face" to see if it someone wrote about this, but till now I had no luck. And before installing a ROM I don't want to read 3000 posts to find my small information I'm looking for.
I'm happy for your suggestions or any kind of constructive help.
cheers
charlie

Both of those 'features' are closed source and owned by OnePlus and are not part of ANY ROM. If you want direct face unlock and off mode alarms, you need to be on Oxygen OS.

Thanks for your answer. This are very disappointing news.

Oxygen OS Alarm Clock, Specific Feature.

I changed my ROM over to resurrection remix and I found that one of the biggest things I missed was Oxygen's alarm clock to "Wake if device is powered off". By any chance is there a way to get the same function/feature over to resurrection remix via xposed or something similar?
P.S. I've been looking for answers and haven't gotten much, I don't write for fun if I could I wouldn't make a post but here I am.
Thanks in advance.
Btw since it's my first time making a post. I can't attach an image sorry.
You will learn you lose things like this when you leave oem roms. Also that is a misleading feature as the device doesn't shut completely down for that to work.
So In short the answer is no.

Yes, we always have to wait, wait waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaiiit.
Let me put it this way: It is unfortunate that this smartphone only enjoys a last "Unicorn", i.e. the last devloper who seems to be invovled in many things and seems to be, at least at the moment, not very responsive ....

Adrian,
who of us has not a private life? We all do and we all deserve one. No doubt about it. However, what I did when I edited the kernel of the Huawei Mediapad or when I wrote my USB-to-Ethernet-Helper even if I ceased developing (because of too little time and other commitments) I always checked the forum at least every two days and provided explanation or at least a helping word as far as I could. I don't want people hanging around waiting for something that is never going to happen. Let's be fair to one another and not waste precious time!
Rom cooking is something that's very laborious and veeeeery time consuming that's why I never went into this business and rest assured I admire those folks who devote their time and tremendous effort to make a new Rom happen. Quite terrific. But it is also true that Rom port users want to enjoy a Rom where the features they want to use are in fact usable. If they need facebook messenger badly and it doesn't work, well they skip the Rom and revert to stock. What else are they supposed to do? But what's the purpose of this Rom then?
Personally, I don't need zillions of Rom ports, I need a working one with a recent kernel with as little bugs as goes. Yes, sure, cooking several Roms with the same kernel and they all suffer from the same bugs because these bugs are hard to squash since they need to be fixed somewhere in the depths of the Android system or even somewhere in the kernel video driver (for instance) is easier than getting right at the culprit. Yes, sometimes knowledge is missing or time or resources, you name it. If there is at least another developer, you can buddy up and support each other. If you are left alone, well, developer support of this type of device is more often than not running out in the near future.
The sad truth here on XDA forums is, we suffer from many, tooo many devices and too few developers for all these devices. Also it is forbidden to charge money for one's development efforts. Donation is ok, but who can live from donations??? Rom cooking takes soooo much time and if you want to do it so that 95% of the people are satisfied with your Roms you need so much knowledge, too. No wonder developers withdraw their favor from old smartphones and turn to newer, more exiting ones, where manufacturer support is better.
Cheers,
dfahren

I understand it man. I feel it. This was they before for me in Galaxy Ace NXT. Development was pretty dead. Until two people came and did some very heavylifting for us who waited a long time for a stable ROM. I was very happy that time. I hope this will change in the near future. Every phone deserve some development. Thanks for your time man. Have a nice day. :highfive:

Face Unlock feature can pass Lockscreen automatically???

Hello, don't know if the following topic has been discussed previously, but wanted to clarify if a solution exists.
It is related to the Face Unlock feature from SmartLock, it is working fine and everything, but it bothers me that after pressing the Power button it doesn't pass the lockscreen after recogninzing you, still you have to Swipe it to enter to the Homescreen.
So for me this feature on stock ROM looks half baked, seeing its implementation on other devices and it works like a charm with the ported pixel custom roms.
My question is, can this be made functional on stock ROM rooted/+ TWRP?
I appreciate your support for a solution or clarification.

Yeah there's a magisk module out there, one sec I'll find it.
It even has whitelists for music so you can still access lock screen if you are using music controls.
Edit: my bad it was Xposed. I have used this on stock Oreo and it worked well.

Unfortunately I didn't succeed with Xposed. Is there an alternative to it?

AOSP apps

So I have been in this modding android game for quite some time since I had an LG G3 and then I moved over to the Nexus 6 for about 2 years and some of these custom roms are just awesome but one thing I cannot get rid of properly are the inbuilt AOSP apps..
on the Nexus 6 a few years back somebody made a flashable zip that got rid of all of them and the boot animation but then fixed the boot animation being deleted and unfortunately time to change technology has changed and that doesn't work on this phone obviously.
I have tried using the magisk debloater and it just a little too complicated for me because I don't like having two of the same apps one being Google the other being AOSP and any other gaps package I flash besides the razorlove gapps fail when flashing a custom ROM..
I've tried using opengapps and I thought when flashing that package the AOSP apps get replaced with the Google version of them.
Would anybody mind listing what AOSP apps I can remove completely and I apologize if it's already on the thread but I didn't really see anything or maybe I just wasn't looking in the right place but can you guys help me out? I really like the RR ROM but the AOSP apps just bothered the hell out of me. I've tried using titanium to completely remove some of them like the AOSP Keyboard but it doesn't fully remove them and I don't want to go into the files that I don't know about and screw up my phone..
So right now I'm on stock and the limitations kind of suck so if anybody could you know help me out listing a method that they use to get rid of them that actually works or listing the ones that I can remove and what program I can use to remove them I do not want to disable them I want to remove them... Or because I know how to use Linux and what not you know maybe somebody could show me how to make a flashable zip that will remove them and I will gladly share it to the community but I'm looking for anything that helps.
It would be greatly appreciated!

You do realize that AOSP is not a single project like some rom developers, right? If someone publishes an "AOSP" rom, that doesn't mean that they are following some kind of standards or rules.

Well obviously but what I'm saying is pretty much every ROM that I flash seems to have the built-in apps that are AOSP based or maybe I'm not saying it right but basically every ROM that I've tried (dirty unicorns, Resurrection Remix, carbon, dotOS, sudomod,) all have built-in AOSP Keyboard AOSP phone AOSP calendar AOSP email **** like that and that's what I want to remove

A piece of advice. Get rid of your Pixel as soon as you can. It's a bug testing platform for Google. Samsung, HTC, LG, Oneplus take buggy Google code and refine it. Google doesn't bother.
I only keep this $960 piece of **** (which is now worth less that $300) because I have no other alternative at the moment. As soon as I can dump it for a real a phone, I will.
I'm good thanks I do my research before I buy my phones and I will never buy another Samsung again and dumping my phone is not an option right now if it was I get me the Rog phone from Asus that thing is a beast

I used an S9 for a little while when I was setting it up for a friend. It's a marvelous phone. I have owned multiple HTC flagships in the past, and they were stellar. I have heard that LG and Oneplus were excellent. My last phone before Pixel XL was Note 7, which was absolutely amazing, one of a kind. This pos Pixel XL has been nothing but bug ridden nightmare. The only reason why I keep it around is because of Project FI. It's because it's cheap. Goddamn $960 nightmare on top of that.
Also, please use punctuation next time. Not using it seems like an insult, but maybe that's just me.

Click on my profile and find new threads started by me in this subforum.
I believe every single new thread was me complaining about one bug or another.
The biggest one that is always on my mind though, and which is almost a deal breaker, was introduced by Google in the 7.0.2 update. And they still haven't fixed it, but all other manufacturers have - I know for a fact that this bug was fixed in Oreo by Samsung and Oneplus.
It's where you wear a smartwatch which can make and receive phone calls, such as my beautiful Huawei Watch with a gorgeous custom band, and then you get inside your car with a bluetooth hands-free car kit, or just a bluetooth headset, which then improperly connects to the phone as "Connected (no phone)." So you cannot use it. If you don't wear a watch, then everything works fine with a kit or bt headset. This is the reason why I don't wear my beautiful watch anymore. Google needs to fire their bluetooth stack programmer.

My bad. I use speech to text a lot and I don't like using punctuation when speaking. It causes some bad habits.
Update though, upon doing further research making a flashable zip is complicated but I should have it all figured out by the end of the week and I'm not really having any bugs with the AOSP apps I just don't like looking in my app drawer and seeing there's duplicates and I really don't want to manually hide all of them each time I flash a ROM or something and do a backup.
On a side note I just found a Chrome extension that allows speech to text and is very good with no ads. If you're like me and you use your voice more than you use your keyboard, look up voice in voice typing under Chrome extensions pretty damn simple.

A friend of mine made a script specifically for what you are trying to do, granted, it's for a different device and older version of Android. Some small modification should be all it needs to suit your purpose, if nothing else, it may contain some useful information.

I've been trying to research this but I was supposed to have surgery today and I was getting ready for that and unfortunately it was cancelled without my knowledge so that was pretty stressful and now I have to start the whole process over again because the doctors I was going to go to no longer accept my insurance and nobody told me so I'm still going to work on this it's just going to be a little bit of a process.

As a side note, I am now in the same boat as you. I have a Oneplus 6 now, silk white, which is gorgeous. But it has double apps like yours - 2 calendars, 2 calculators, 2 message apps, 2 clock apps etc. I don't even really know which ones are Google and which ones are Oneplus - I think the round icons are Google, but rectangular icons are Oneplus. Plus I don't know which apps are better. I think that I will use some of them for a while and disable the least appealing ones.
There are only a handful, and maybe that's what you can do? Just disable? If you cannot disable from the main Android interface, you can do it from adb. There are commands that can disable and enable app packages from adb.
Hey guys I'm sorry it's been awhile since I've kept up with you guys. So a little side note
I have started this project it is my very first project on my GitHub.
But my problem is I have no idea how to even start this I mean I tried using the flashable zip creator and it pulled the system apps but I'm at a loss here any help would be greatly appreciated..
You can view the project at this link by the way

Question [CLOSED] please suggest stable daily usage rom

i am currently using xiaomi.eu 12.5.18 stable. unfortunately i find the battery life poor and i am having to charge the phone twice to get through my day. i have my gps, bluetooth, data, wifi, sync always switched on. i was using eu rom for basically 1 major reason, and that was built-in auto call record. i value this feature alot as i receive alot of calls for work and i just go "hmmm" to most of them during my busy hours. i then replay the recorded calls when i get free.
i want to shift from eu rom coz of battery and no further update (mi 11x).
i am looking for custom stable rom which preferably has built-in call recorder and doesnt ever fail or let the other person know. i do not use the device for gaming. i am looking for good battery life, support for gcam, all banking apps (will not be rooting the device)
i see some quite popular custom roms here like arrowos, crdroid, lineageos, pixelexperience. can someone suggest me which one to go with.
EDIT: Sorry I was thinking of being in the Mi 11 board, idk know if it works that fine on alioth...
Freshly released stable CherishOS 3.8.
There is a very neat Call Recorder Magisk Module if you are willing to root. It's caled SKVALEX. It costs a bit but it has a Trial period and is overall the best Call Recorder app available on the market, imho! Having root access just opens the thing up for more possibilities...
Also this GCam mod appers to be working fine and also has a config xml.

i dont want to root. cant risk failing safetynet in the long run
The default AOSP dialer in crdroid has call recording features, but if you want to flash gapps then don't flash google phone app.
CrDroid with NikGapps core will be great for you. CrDroids Dialer has auto call record option plus option to disable proximity sensor.
