Need help on Galaxy Note 2 N7105 - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Guys,
I have switching roms in these few months. Recently, I tried to use back the stock rom N7105XXUFOB2. Everything went normal until I found 2 problems:
1. imei is blank with /01 when typing *#06#, but baseband was shown and I can still get the network. (My mistake for not backing up the efs folder)
2. GPS not found, tried with google map and waze but same issue. Tried with gps status also to no solution. (No satellite at all)
Then, I went for customs rom, GPS works and network works as per normal but with imei blank and baseband display. Anyone got idea on how to resolve it?
Appreciated if anyone can help.

Where did you get the stock ROM? Is that the latest stock ROM for the phone?
I found these stock ROMs: https://updato.com/firmware-archive-select-model?exact=1&q=GT-N7105

I have forgotten where I downloaded it. But definitely not sammobile as it requires user login.
Below is the version I use.
PDA/AP Version: N7105XXUFOB2
CSC Version: N7105OLBFOD1
MODEM/CP Version: N7105XXUFNI2
Region: Singapore (singtel)
Are you saying that the stock rom I am downloading is not genuine or somehow corrupted?
Is that possible that imei blank, baseband still around and mobile signal works as per normal? Because I am facing it. lol.
By the way, in 4.4.2, is there anyway to do screen mirroring to samsung tv? Firstly, it mentions 'Unable to Start Screen Mirroring because of Hardware Issues'. Then I checked online and edit build.prop file by adding in “wlan.wfd.hdcp=disable“. Then the hardware issue quote is gone but the tv screen is blank.

I would flash the latest stock ROM from updato.com.
I'm not sure how you can get any cell or data service from your carrier without success valid IMEI.

Ya, it is very weird. But just to confirm again. If I reflash the rom from the website you mentioned, Is that possible to fix the blank imei issue? I think it is going to be 50-50.
I have tried googled this issue, I found some said to change imei using mtk tool, does it apply to galaxy note 2 as it mentioned works for Mediatek devices and not sure about others?

Just a friendly reminder that XDA does not permit any discussions related to changing an IMEI.
Flashing the latest stock ROM will sometimes being back the IMEI.

Understood. I found the same rom in updato, just wonder why some roms with same android version but different pda version so late? (Eg, France (Orange) (FTM), N7105XXUFQH1, 4.4.2- 17 Sept 2017)
Is it just because the rom is being updated late in updato?

Different ROMs for different regions and carriers. Not all ROMs have the same languages too.

Understood and thanks for your explanation. For stock firmware, do you have problem doing screen mirroring to smart TV?

Unfortunately, I can't comment on mirroring because I haven't had a Samsung phone for a while.

Oh I see, never mind then.
The problem on the stock firmware is that manufacturer has already abandoned the phone. Therefore, many apps have been discontinued and that's why the screen mirroring is not working. But I trully love the stock camera app compared with custom rom. :crying:
Now I'm using custom rom and will continue monitoring first.
Anyway, thanks again.

I think the note 2 has decent hardware and could probably run 6.0 with no problem but Samsung would sell fewer phones

Ya, you are right. I am not using custom rom resurrection remix nougat version. The camera is not as smooth as the stock camera which is sad for me. My wife did complain to me that the phone with this rom was lagging, which led me to back to stock firmware.
But now I am back to same rom so far is ok, only that I need to make sure the phone can run smoothly and I will be happy to use it. Cheers.

Flashing things to SM-T705Y

Hi Guys,
I have a T705Y. Was wondering whether I have to flash stuff specific to the Y version (of which there doesn't appear to be much) or whether I can flash T705 stuff to it as well.
I did a quick search and couldn't find anything. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
D.S
Where did you get this one from? I'm not sure about flashing stuff on it because most roms and kernels are for the 705. Not sure if the 705 is compatible to the 700y. Is this also a Snapdragon or exynos?

A carrier in Australia are giving them out in a bundle at the moment, my Nexus 7 just happened to break so it seemed to work out.
No idea if it's Exynos or Snapdragon, haven't looked that far into it yet. Was simply asking the question in the hopes that somebody had a quick answer.
It's not a big deal. Some more searching suggests that CF-AutoRoot works, which would probably be enough for me to be able to uninstall / freeze a lot of the chaff on the device.
Thanks

I just got a new australian model sm- t705y. Has anyone flashed the taiwanese lollipop rom to it yet? Does it run good? Should i root before or after? I'm a newbie, thanks, Pet
Edit
I flashed the taiwanese lollipop rom with odin 3.09, it works beautiful, didn't need factory reset after, but it is specifically for the "y"-version of the sm-705. I am facing the same problem, don't know what the "y" means, except that it adds a certain bandwith for Australian 4G. I don't know if i can use stuff for normal sm- 705 or if that would cause problems. I will repost after trying, might take a while as i want to do a full backup first. If anyone has any clues regarding this issue i too would be very happy and
I too would be very very very interested in knowing this. Can't find any info on it other than a "maybe" from the Iron ROM creator.
The main reason I want it is because the Xposed framework doesn't work with current stock Samsung ROMs, yet there are no custom ROMs for the T705Y..
Has anyone taken the plunge and tried a custom T705 ROM on a T705Y??
FYI the T705Y is the Australian variant with 4G 700MHz band 28 for Aussie 4G. It has the Exynos 5 Octa 5420 (Adonis?)
..tempted to buy one with a broken screen just to try it but I don't have the money at the moment.
Sorry if double posting isn't allowed but just an update - I've tried deodexing so I can install Xposed but no luck - have gone through all the walkthroughs and troubleshooting I can find and after about 8 hrs total I've given up. I'll post back here if I get the balls to flash a T705 ROM or if I find a T705Y ROM that will allow Xposed.

Why do you need balls? It's a simple case of making a backup with twrp first which is reiterated on this forum about a million times then just flash away.
As I understand it there is still a risk of a hard brick which means you can't get back into TWRP, unless I'm mistaken?

used to have the T705 a long time back...went to the S2 T715...left that...got a great deal on T705Y practically new was sealed but sometimes wonder about those seals...anyway manufactured just in June this year...runs much better than T705 used to and guessing it is all software (has to be)..has 5.0.2 now (back then like a year back 4Q 2014 was kitkat and a horrible keyboard back then)...
checked that there is a s/w update of 212MB available not sure what that is for
in terms of the Y version...see the Sm-T235...I have that too (and had the Y version of that briefly...the Y version (also Taiwan) for the T235 there is identical to the non-Y version except for some LTE bands...same roms, recovery etc...can check the xda board tab 4 7.0..this is the LTE 235 I am referring to (now 230/231/237 differ) but Sm-t235 and 235y are basically identical. So here too, I think some frequencies are different (enabled bands but otherwise same)
by analogy I am pretty certain the 705 and 705Y have similar degree of similarity and differences like the 235 and 235y...if one can say that..just some bands on lte (235 has the 850, the 235Y has the 700 frequency for example)

Thanks ashyx but I am wanting to flash a custom ROM not stock, and for a slightly different model number. FWIW among other reasons I'm needing Xposed to turn off the magnet screen off feature which is sometimes triggered by my magnetic car cradle.
I think mac has answered my question will and confirmed what I suspected.
Thank you mac for sharing your experience :good:

Well just to let you know I have flashed countless custom roms on my t805. For quite a while I was using a custom t805y rom which ran very well with no issues. I also think there is a t705y version
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3127127
I now use PhoeniX ROM.
Pretty much any rom can run on these devices regardless of region.
The only thing is you may need to restore or flash the boot.img and modem for your particular device if you encounter issues.
I have only ever had to restore the modem.
Well i flashed t705 recovery yesterday and chaimsaw
Latest su2.62 that also works on t235 5.1.1...xposed running too

I have tried flashing SM-T705 rom onto my 705y model and it seems to work just fine. I used Odin to flash twrp then used twrp to install Lineage os 14.1 and the gapps ARM 7.1 FULL (a thread said only full version seems to work without errors I have not checked it).

Yes it's possible but we need to flash on top our (tmobile) kernel.

Hmm I'm downloading the TMO firmware from SamsungUpdate to start, but it's gonna take another 6 hours because of their metered connection -_-.
We'll see how that works out, but ideally I'd be 100% debloated and rooted with Samsung Pay working.
Don't think that'll be possible, but at least we're dealing with unlocked bootloader devices haha

Guys, the phone is running great!
Updating for the sake of updating isn't always a good thing when out of the box it's actually working well!
When a device has problems there are threads everywhere of complaints. When a device works things are quiet usually with just the usual how to question. Of course everyone wants root, when it comes it comes. Be patient!

I do not believe you have to do anything.
While yes, both are version 5.1.1, if you look at the last 4 digits of your firmware build number you should see AOGD. The new firmware build number ends in AOH2, showing this is a newer build date. Nothing major, probably just a few under the hood changes, which usually means a liitle better performance.

what about the root-ability?
If you are rooted on an older firmware, and you flash a stock rom via Odin you will lose your root access. So long as your phone model can be/is rooted on your current firmware, after you flash the newer firmware just follow the same steps to root your phone again.

This is all well and good but as stated by Alex Android 7 isn't out for S6 edge + yet. And I'm pretty sure when it does come out it will change the boot loader and reverting back to 6.0.1 will cause imei and baseband loss.

I was on Nougat multiple times (Khongloi S7 port ROM and DevBase 7.0 ROM modifications), returning to MM was as easy as going to TWRP and flashing a MM ROM, without any bootloader business involved... In my case I simply flashed the V15 Note 7 port by Khongloi, and I was back on MM without any bugs or problems. And if you didn't notice, the firmware in this guide includes a bootloader, so even in the case of the bootloader changing with Nougat, there would be no issue reverting back. I've downgraded my Note 4 from Marshmallow to Kitkat multiple times (for testing purposes), and it's as easy as doing the same steps that are provided in this guide
Go down to the development section, you can see that there are multiple Nougat ROMs that exist for this device already, all based on a leaked base ROM that was meant for app developers. The ROM is nowhere near to finished, it drains battery and the performance is poor, and for that reason many users will consider downgrading, and this thread works for that purpose

No, the performance and battery life ratio really is worse in the ROM, it doesn't benchmark even close to stock MM and battery drains fast on some occasions

This might be due to the fact that they are ports of 7.0.
Im just warning people that update to official when it comes out that it has been known that it updates files that once done cannot be reverted back or it will cause problems, one being the null baseband/imei.
But yes, reverting back at the moment is as easy as flashing a 6.0.1 rom or stock firmware.
Either way hopefully people back up their efs!
i updated to an official 7.0 firmware and now i can't flash 6.0.1 bootloader. Any ideas or am i stuck at 7.0?

Well hopefully people will back up their EFS which is a MUST do before starting to flash roms etc.
If you have I think you can use odin to go back to 6.0.1 and then restore the backed up EFS from that version of Android.
Other than that you're stuck on nougat roms.
If you have reverted back to older and you lose imei and/or baseband then you'll need to reinstall nougat rom to get the imei/baseband back.
But as I haven't flashed an official nougat rom I can't say if this will all work or not. I'm going by past experience when I did this with jellybean - kitkat on my old phone.

You can do nothing about it. It's a known problem with CM/Lineage on all phones degrading camera quality.
Which ROM would you recommend for daily use? That is not Slim6 because that is what I currently have and has several errors.

There is a ROM that worked perfectly, the camera was fine, it is very fluid and above it is super attractive to the eye and very customizable, that ROM is MiUi 7. But there is a problem, that when it comes to start it takes a lot to do it . And it is not that bootloop because the ROM if it starts, only if I turn off the phone for any reason to turn it takes 5 to 10 minutes.
Do you have any idea of this?

For me the problem is the kernel because I installed another kernel and the problem was solved but when turning it on you could use the ROM but it had some graphic faults like that the screen was blinking, the icons were glitched, it worked fine even though it was difficult to use , but the ROM started well. Then I'm looking for AOSP kernels for android 4.4 to see which gives solution to the problem

I realize this is an earlier post, but thought I'd comment anyway! I'm not sure how many of us are out there, tinkering around with the 8+ year old Samsung Galaxy S3 i747 . While I am a newbie, I have enjoyed flashing Custom ROM's , from CyanogenMod, thru various versions of Lineage, and now CrDroid. The newest O/S that I flashed is CrDroid ( based on Android 8 ). Runs great. Stable. Long battery life.
I have always used ODIN to INSTALL a 'recovery' system such as TWRP ( which is a .Tar file )
After TWRP is installed ( using ODIN ) I unplug phone from my computer. Then boot into TWRP recovery ( holding down the three buttons ). I do a clean install (flash) of the newest O/S that I can find ( Android 4.4 is really old ). It is that .Zip file that I flash, then reboot the phone. Always works for me. Eventually I learned how to back up all my contacts, SMS, logs, photos, etc.
BTW I am totally free of Google; no Google Play Store, no Google Pay, no Google Framework, no Gapps, no Google spyware, no Google bloatware, no Google tracking etc.
I download all my apps as APK's which are readily available on the Net ( Google them . . . just kidding! ).
My older Samsung S3 i747 was a 'd2att' originally locked to Rogers, in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Then switched over to MTS (Manitoba Telephone System). Now running on Bell Canada. My replacement is also a Samsung S3 i747, originally running T-Mobile in Arizona, now running on Bell Canada.
These are damn fine phones.

What ROM are you running on your S3 now? I flashed lineage 14.1 on to mine but it wont accept incoming calls. I really just need a ROM that will work for calls but I'm having trouble finding any to download, the links are either dead or all I can find is for the i9300 variant.

I am running CrDroid. Best ROM I've had yet. Ran LIneage 14.1 and it was good, but little problems such as: phone not ringing, camera problem.
I always go the extra mile & clean flash. Lately I've made the effort to back things up! Saves a lot of headache. Wish I would've learned that earlier.

Thanks but I don't see a ROM for the S3 i747 variant on CrDroid's site. Only one for the S3 Neo and I see references elsewhere to CrDroid on the i9300 which I think is the European model? But not seeing one for the d2att/d2lte version we have in Canada.
I did install Meeko on it last night which at least does accept incoming calls so that's an improvement over Lineage already.
Are you referring to the CrDroid website https://crdroid.net/ ?
There are versions for Android 8 (Oreo) & newer.
I'm pretty sure that Lineage 14.1 is Android 7 (Nougat)
Have a look at the XDA site of alexenferman : https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3-att/rom-crdroid-3-8-9-custom-rom-7-1-2-t4021787
See the part which reads:
Releases
Latest Version: V.3 2020-01-02 FINAL
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1DW...T4ZNZieMwIUbAX
Then I downloaded the file: crDroidAndroid-7.1.2-20200102-d2att-v3.8.9.zip
While it says "d2att" I installed it on my Samsung Galaxy S3 (Rogers version) anyway. Works great.
I also installed on my Samsung Galaxy S3 (Tmobile version) T999. Also works great.
I did not install any Gapps

This is an unofficial build, on the CrDroid website, they only put the official ones, approved by them. To make official builds, you must constantly update it and have the latest version. I clearly don't have all the resources and knowledge. Anyone can compile a ROM for their device.
So if it says "Unofficial", it's not part of the Custom ROM website
And yes, you can use this build with the Canadian i747m/d2can

Mi A2 lite keeps losing signal

Hi guys. I need your help
I bought this phone a year ago. It works fine at first, but then I'm not sure since when, the phone keeps losing signal and says "No service".
Network is up again when I restart the phone, but if I leave it for a while, it loses the signal and nobody can call me.
Is there anyway to solve this problem?

which version are you using, if it is A10 i have to say that is a bug not solved by the lazy xiaomi's devs
Best solution is to change to custom rom or return to android pie or oreo

How do I know which version my phone is?
Anyway, it's the bugged version it seems, so I guess I'm gonna downgrade it. Do you know where can I download the rom?
I found this site (xiaomifirmwareupdater.com/archive/miui/daisy/) but it's Miui rom, not the android one version
