V9.6.6.0.ODLMIFF - Beta Stable? - Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite Questions & Answers

This firmware version came to my phone as a large 1107MB OTA update. At first I thought it was just a normal security patch with some fixes,
but turns out it isn't.
MIUI Forum - Beta Stable OTA Announcement - August 30th, 2018
According to the page above, this is a Beta Stable ROM.
What does this mean? Xiaomi just chose me and a bunch of other users as beta testers at random?
Will we have a final stable version to download at some point?
Or are we stuck in this Beta Update Channel?
-----------------------
The September 2018 security patch has been released today for the regular Mi A2 (Jasmine), but not for the A2 Lite (Daisy), and I suspect the above is the exact reason for this.
Very confusing, could someone please clarify?

If any of you finally receive the september 2018 security update, post here as a reply.

2nd November update (latest stock ROM image)

Can someone that has the 2nd november update on their phone check if the version V9.6.10.0.ODLMIFF is the latest stable ROM?
I have the October update and I am experiencing battery life problems, so I need to update. If this is not the latest updated ROM, than can someone point out where to find it.
Thanks!

No new gestures for me, only camera with power button.
I have OPM1.171019.019.V9.6.11.0.ODLMIFF your patch from November 1
How many November 2018 updates are there? It seems there are 2. Is this correct? I see a reference to November 1 and another to November 2. So, there are 2 updates, I think. I am asking because I have the latest update, I think. From the the "System" settings I copied this build number: opm1.171019.019.v9.6.11.0.odlmiff. What is odd is that the phone says: "Your system is up to date, Android version 8.1.0, security patch level: November 1, 2018. It does not say security patch November 2, 2018.
I had my phone set for automatic updates, so I never noticed if it updated once or twice.
Can anyone make this clearer to me?

Check the build date of your kernel. Should say November 12 for the second November update.
I got my phone yesterday, and received the October update immediately, however no sign of a November update! Is there something I need to do? I keep checking for updates but nothing is coming! I've also restarted the phone, changed sim, but no November love for me!

no, it's stock.
There is no security update other than November 1, 2018 with the build number V9.6.11.0. But if you are a beta tester or anyhow updated your phone to Android Pie then in that case you can get November 5, 2018 security update.

Xiaomi Mi8 Lite Pie Update ( unofficial news )

Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite Android 9 Pie update :
Android 9 Pie update expected in Q1 2019
Beta version may roll out before the end of 2018
As already pointed out, Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite comes preinstalled with Oreo 8.1 and thus is entitled to an update to Android 9 Pie, probably the one and only OS upgrade the device will ever see. Xiaomi hasn’t said it publicly, but we expect a beta version to roll out before the end of 2018 followed by a stable released later in Q1 2019.
Of course, the stable Pie update will have MIUI 10 running on top.
Hello,
Global beta ROM is now officialy available, according to this article the beta version 8.12.13 is under android pie https://www.xda-developers.com/xiaomi-mi-8-lite-android-pie-beta-china/?nocache=1
Even if it says that you need bootloader unlocked, I checked on the official website and saw it was available as a global version, here's the link http://en.miui.com/download-346.html#552 (and if you want, here's the changelog http://en.miui.com/thread-4885974-1-1.html)
Since I only have my mi 8 lite in a few days (tomorrow hopefully), I could not test it myself, if nobody does before I'll confirm as soon as possible
Tell me if I'm making any mistake
Have a nice day

Ota link updated.
I checked for updates on mine and got the 194 update right away. Surprised this didn't have the October security patch in it... but I suppose that might be a lot to ask.
Thank you for WW 194 link. I was able to manually upgrade Partition B (putting the update in root and restarting phone - I got the official update prompt), then use Magisk Manager to patch it while I still had Magisk on Partition A (WW 189) - this was crazy cool. Didn't even need to plug my phone into a PC!

Thanks for this tip, worked like a charm!
I installed the update by putting the zip in the root of internal storage and then - without restarting - directly opened Magisk Manager to click install and choose the option to "Install to inactive slot (after OTA)"
Maybe I'm late to the party, but I never knew Magisk had this option. It beats having to manually extract, patch and flash boot.img by a landslide :good:
Which Magisk versions are working with latest .194 please?

No "1906" means security update for June 2019 which is really old. The latest version is WW_16.1220.1909.194_0 with September security update and we are waiting for the next update with at least October security update or even Android 10 major update.

Oh this is interesting to know that it's referred to security patch. I usually was reading about security patch on release news but is useful to read from the file name.
But it would have been even more weird if they had released (for US) now an update with June patch.
They had June patch in August like in EU (beginning of August).

Hello everyone, I am new to the forum and pretty much clueless when it come to Android tweaking ect.
Thank to this thread I was able to update my phone yesterday. It was at WW_16.1220.1908.189_0 for a while now.
Also, can anyone here help answering me this: Why is my phone not auto update these new versions of its firmware? Only until some apps not working that I noticed the firmware is outdated. I bought it secondhand, it was rooted but I reset it with the buyer's help. Is that why or does phone now need to be updated manually?
If this is not the place to ask this, I am sorry. People here seem to be well verse in this topic, so...

I think you had to read the lettres too
In PGGEUXM 11.0.3.0...the P may be for Pie - Android 9
In QGGEUXM 11.0.2.0...the Q may be for Android 10
Got the update this morning in Germany.
I had to uninstall Netflix to get it to work but I finally have HD videos.
The Themes app now works too.

Question Android 13 beta 3.3 question . Help appreciated

Wanting to possibly try out android 13 beta I've heard great things about it and it being stable . If I install it, how do I go from the beta to the official OTA. I would be installing the beta OTA but don't know how to install the official OTA when it comes out. Do I just opt out of the beta program then recieve the official OTA ? Thanks for any help

Once the 1st stable version of Android 13 is released (should be early August), there should be a window where you can opt out and then receive the stable version of Android 13 without having to wipe.

You don't have to do anything. BETA will end when the official comes out and you will get that OTA just like any other OTA.
Ok so I don't have to opt out of the beta?

I believe that is correct because there will be no Android 13 betas after that. I've read others who said their next OTA after the last Beta would take them to the final version. The next beta after that will probably be for the QPR1 and would have to be signed up for separately.
Edit: I meant to add that I am a little cautious, so I would probably choose to manually opt-out, anyway.

I've read that if you don't opt out of the beta after stable Android 13 is released that you'll start getting the QPR betas for Android 13, for what it's worth. Excerpt below...
Get Android 13 Beta on a Google Pixel device
"Once enrolled, your device will receive regular over-the-air (OTA) updates for the duration of the platform’s release cycle—including Quarterly Platform Releases (QPRs)—unless you opt out earlier.
During the Android Beta for Pixel program’s release cycle, there are four stable releases to the public (the official platform release followed by three Quarterly Platform Releases). When you apply a stable release update, you can opt out of future Beta updates without a data wipe for a limited time (until you apply the next beta update, if you choose to do so)."

Interesting. I did mean to add that I'm a little cautious, so I would probably choose to manually opt-out anyway.
I think the way they word it is funny. They say QPRs, but they don't say QPR Beta (although the next part does mention Beta). Like, if you're on Stable, of course you're going to get the QPR (when it goes Final).
So just run the beta and opt out before August so I know that I'll get the final release in August??

Yeah, the wording is a bit confusing. But since it was all in the section under "Get Android 13 Beta on a Google Pixel Device", I'm assuming they were talking about QPR betas.
They've also said the Android 13 beta program will end in June 2023, so that would suggest that the QPR betas would be included. June 2023 should be when the final stable version of QPR3 (Android 13) will be released so that's why the program would end then, like it did in June this year for the QPR betas for Android 12.

If you opt out before August then you'll be getting the stable version of Android 12 since the stable version of Android 13 would not have been released yet. I've seen reports of people having lots of problems when opting out of A13 beta and getting A12 stable. You would also have to wipe.
You should opt out during the window right after the 1st stable version of Android 13 is released, which should be in early August.
The only reason I would opt out of the a13 beta is to get the stable final release , not to go back to 12.. thanks sounds like I should opt out right after final is released , then I'll get the final OTA..
Here's another excerpt from their Beta FAQ section. To me it sounds like there will not be a separate QPR Beta program like there was for Android 12:
"Enrolled devices will receive continuous beta updates for the duration of the platform’s release cycle including Quarterly Platform Releases (QPRs) ahead of the public release schedule, unless you choose to opt out sooner.
Android 13 beta program ends in June 2023 with the public release of the Android June QPR and Pixel Feature Drop"
There's also this:
"You can expect to receive up to two updates automatically per month for each program you’re enrolled in. Note: You will not receive separate monthly security updates while enrolled in the program as they will be part of the beta build"
Note: Of course, I could be interpreting this totally wrong
Android Beta Program
Android Beta Program allows you to enroll your Android device for beta releases.

Maybe I'll just wait till final OTA push in August it's not to far away to wait instead of messing with beta..
