adblocker needed badly!!

I'm after an adblocker badly!! I have ads all over the show and its driving me mental! What do you guys use? I am currently using NeoPhyTe 1.71 ROM Thanks!

I use OpenDesire as it has everything I need and doesn't run on the Sense framework. Also includes adblocking as a standard.

Just flashed it myself to test, http://dnlgee.co.uk/downloads.php?f=UpdateHosts.310710.zip works fine with no errors. Which recovery are you using?

Just download adfree from the market, sorted.

Same, it actually force reboots my desire no matter which ROM I use. I'd like to know what recovery image others use.

I believe AdFree needs access to the system partition unless you create a symlink, which is a lot of faff for a text file really.

[Q] Can't open SuperSu

I'm currently running rbox's updated 51.1.4.0_user_514006420 ROM. I can still grant superuser access to apps that request it, and apps that require su function properly, but I can't open the SuperSu app itself, it just crashes. When I try to open it from the KFTV launcher, the screen blinks and it returns to the applications menu. If I try to open SuperSu from XBMC, it causes XBMC to crash as well.

mine has no option to launch. is that what you mean?
it seems to work fine when apps request root but cannot be opened itself.
a bit annoying.

I think it has to do with the way I'm installing it. In theory if you were to delete the SuperSu.apk from /system/app and sideload the apk yourself, it might work better. And if you horribly break things, you can always just reinstall the prerooted rom to get it back.

I deleted it and sideloaded it back. Same behavior. Just want to get into its settings. I used the latest PlayStore version APK.

Yeah, same here. I ended up installing Clockworkmod's Superuser and uninstalling SuperSU. All I needed was the ability to disable notifications on a per app basis.

+1. I installed latest ChainFire's SuperSU. Is there another? Is that our problem? Is there a CWR SU?

Direct download from CWM website
You'll have to re-approve superuser requests since it's a different app. I believe this is the same superuser app that comes with Cyanogenmod

I can start including this one in the prerooted instead of supersu if it works better.

From what I read the supersu is always the best one to choose. Certainly with phones.
I just dont know why we cant launch the app as normal to adjust settings.
Can you launch yours? Can anyone?

I don't know about "always the best". It's all the same crap really. CM ships with Superuser and it seems to work fine for everyone using that.
I can't launch it either.

Mine launches fine. I can review which apps have been granted, add and remove them, etc.

I also had the same issues. However, I was able to fix it by deleting "/system/app/SuperSu.apk" and then side-loading an older version of SuperSu (2.01). So, it looks as if the issue may be with compatibility with more recent versions.

opened towelroot again, clicked "make it rain" it tells me "device is not supported" (since pre-rooted rom ?)

Did you mount the file system as read/write before you tried to delete it?

Install SuperUser. I moved on form supersu as I too wanted to change and couldn't. Superuser works just fine.

Is this the SuperUser that is working for all on the FireTV... Does it matter what version ?? So latest works just fine...

How to get past the parsing error when attempting to install apk

I just recently installed a stock(-bloatware) ROM from here which is pretty nice but I can only install apps from the play store. Otherwise I get the parsing error. I've checked the box for installing from unknown sources to no avail. Anyone know what I need to do? Thanks

I would try to flash with another ROM and see if the ROM is the problem.

Do a nandroid backup and I would flash stock, which is the most stable of all
You can download stock files to flash with Odin here
If this problem does not appear in stock, then the ROM is the culprit
I would suggest just finding another ROM, I stuck with Kit Kat for the hercules (Carbon ROM) since it's more stable than the newer ones coming out

Dear OP7t Users,
I have accidentally removed the "files" apk via ADB command. I know to restore it back i can reload the image but the process seems liltle bit longer.
Hence, i would really appreciate if anyone can share me the apk file or share a method to extract the apk from image file. Tried search the apk and another file manager is downloadable easily but not the "files" app.

Try connecting through adb and enter

adb shell pm list packages -d
adb shell pm enable com.google.android.documentsui
If you have root you can use terminal emulator,

pm list packages -d
pm enable com.google.android.documentsui

@spacerule that may be caused by some kind of app verification by phone's OS. I'll try to see if I can extract and upload it another way.

I have no root and have issued the provided command.
Attached is the screenshot, but when I launch the app, it forces close.
reboot doesn't solve and clear cache and data greyed out.

Thanks, @Butit, still the same application installation error. probably the BT05 causing the issue.

@spacerule you may have to reinstall the OS to get back the apk, unless someone else helps you with an alternative way. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
