Install cwm via mac or Linux?

Guys how to install cwm and remove stock recovery via mac or Linux on unlocked device ?
Need help plz!
Tnx!
The procedure is the same as it has always been, in short:
1 - install the Android SDK
2 - unlock your bootloader
3 - download the recovery image file
4 - using the fastboot command in the Terminal, flash it like this (for example)
~/android-sdk-macosx/platform-tools/fastboot flash recovery ./clockworkmod.img
The paths and filenames will depend on where all the files are located.
I'm assuming you have experience with the command line to be able to understand this.
PS: you would have to use the same method to flash boot.img when flashing custom ROMs, as they cannot be installed from recovery yet. Just replace "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" with "flashboot flash boot boot.img"

ASUS Zenfone 5/6 CN, CUCC, TW to WW

After many many tries i found a way to convert my CUCC edition to WW.
This way should work for any Edition.
1.) Install ADB & USB Drivers
2.) Download recovery image (version should be smaller or equal to desired rom)
3.) Boot to fastboot mode (Power + Vol Up)
4.1) flash fastboot.img from original desired rom zip (fastboot flash fastboot fastboot.img)
4.2) flash recovery image (fastboot flash recovery xyz.img)
5.) reboot to fastboot again
6.) launch recovery from fastboot
7.) upload firmware (adb sideload xyz.zip)
8.) wipe cache
9.) reboot
Your phone should now have the desired ROM & SKU (even future OTA updates should work)

from android mode you can simply boot to fastboot by issuing following command: "adb reboot fastboot"
or to recovery: "adb reboot recovery"
and it should not matter which version you convert to which version as long as you choose the right fastboot and recovery image (the edition you want to have as a result)
doesn't work with CUCC firmware
I tried this method. My fimware is ASUS_T00G_CUCC_user_1.17.40.17_20140812_9510.
At step adb sideoad : Error : "E:signature verification failed. Installation aborted. Can't open /tap/update-script.log. E:Cannot load volume /sisc!"
I used these : 1.17.40.16_ww_recovery.img and UL_ASUS_T00G_WW_1_18_40_11.zip.
Any idea please ?

thank you for your post.
i have manage to update from cucc to ww
your procedure is definitely correct.
on your 4.1 procedure is got mistaken command
4.1) flash fastboot.img from original desired rom zip (adb fastboot flash fastboot fastboot.img)'
when you want to flash it. please do (fastboot flash fastboot fastboot.img)
for some newbie they dint know that by typing adb fastboot wont be able to flash
and they would thought they have flashed it since there is alot of words coming out from the cmd. but its just adb information.
after this point.
do exactly like above.
you will manage to get it done correctly like i am.
just write it for hope to help newbie on flashing.
Thanks, changed at first post....

[Q] Installed the wrong root System File

Hi there, first topic on XdaDev, as I really need some help here.
I flashed the wrong system file on my Zenfone 2, I installed the 550ML version instead of the 551 one, at first I had a black screen but managed to get a clean install and the phone seem to work fine. But it is also running at the settings of the 550ML, which means 720p resolution and lower CPU frequency, and I would like to roll back to the original settings of the 551ML with the stock firmware if possible.
My issue is that I cannot load the System.img anymore. I follow these steps :
In CMD:
"Adb reboot-bootloader"
Daemon started successfully - The phone reboots in fastboot mode
Then I enter:
"fastboot flash system system.img"
but I encounter the "cannot load system.img" issue
What am I supposed to do now ?
Thanks for any advice you can provide guys.
PS : The system file is inside my fastboot folder and this file is a rooted one, I also downloaded the firmware from Asus but I have no idea how to use it.
EDIT : So I finally managed to go back to the correct rooted system, which is the 551ML, thanks to this topic : http://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone2/general/asus-zenfone-2-flashing-recovery-mode-t3096596
But I have another question, as it is my first android phone : If I want to update my system, will I encounter issues with the rooting ? What if I want to roll back to the stock system, how do I proceed ? Thank you guys, amazing forum you have there.
you can't go back right now,a file need another compatible file so you just have to reflash all the stuff from the beginning.
enter bootloader.wipe cache.in bootloader.ABSOLUTELY DONT SHUT DOWN.it can takes 15-20 minutes too.download latest firmware (2.19.40) for 551ml from here mega.co.nz/#F!k4MHiAgL!dVuOKeH3eokcwPSNI79ffw check if your device is ww or cn.unzip the file and move the files in the adb/fastboot folder.these are the sizes of the files you should have in the adb/fastboot folder
droidboot.img should be ~ 13MB
recovery.img should be ~ 11MB
boot.img should be ~ 11MB
system.img shuld be ~ 2GB
connect to pc.enter bootloader again.type ' fastboot devices ' to see if your device is recognized
flash files in this order.at the end of each line type enter
fastboot flash fastboot droidboot.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash system system.img
then choose normal boot in bootloader.after all, wipe cache again
you will have a rooted firmware.good luck man

I don't know what "method 1 and 2" refers to but usually you do it with adb/fastboot. Assuming you have a computer running windows, you need to extract this:
https://dl.google.com/android/repository/platform-tools-latest-windows.zip
- Plug your fully booted phone to your computer with the USB cable.
- From the command line, navigate to where you extracted the files and type:
adb reboot bootloader
- your phone will reboot in fastboot mode, wait for it.
- download and extract latest TWRP binary into the same folder you previously extracted the files : https://eu.dl.twrp.me/whyred/twrp-3.2.2-0-whyred.img.html
- assuming the default filename of twrp-3.2.2-0-whyred.img, type fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.2.2-0-whyred.img
- press and hold the volume up key on your phone and type fastboot reboot
- keep holding volume up until the phone reboot in TWRP.
* Note that if you fail to reboot into TWRP the first time, MIUI will overwrite TWRP with stock recovery and you will have to flash TWRP again.
You have ARP anti 4 rom!
[miui 9.5.22.0 CN.]
You have ARP anti 4 rom!
To flash TWRP you need to temporarily boot it with: -
fastboot boot <name of TWRP>.img
Then when booted, copy the image file to your device, and then install TWRP image to recovery from temp TWRP.
From TWRP, then reboot to recovery to actually use the installed version.
If your sticking with MIUI, remember to flash the script that allows the device to boot with TWRP, or use a TWRP that includes it.
WARNING: - DO NOT Flash firmware's or roms lower than the version your on, or you will brick your device.

I installed linux by a mistake into my nokia 3.2 and now i am stuck in fastboot

I installed Linux by a mistake into my Nokia 3.2 which led me here, I am stuck in fast boot mode I tried multiple solutions like scratching the edl trigger, going to recovery mode, and restarting the bootloader. it only vibrates and reopens the fastboot menu, I cannot install, or perhaps I don't know how to install the default OS, IMG, or whatever you call it I am really new to this kinda stuff, sorry, and I appreciate your help.
I had the same issue after trying to install an incompatible custom ROM the way I fixed it is by:
1- downloading the stock ROM
2- extract it
3- while the phone is in fastboot flash all .img files like this:
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash vendor vendor.img
etc...
after flashing all .img files type
Code:
fastboot reboot
and that's it, it might tell you your phone isn't trusted this will go after a system update.
