Display languages - Samsung Galaxy S9 Questions & Answers

First off; apologies for my ignorance here, but I haven't done anything in regards to flashing custom or official roms since I had my Galaxy Tab S (T700).
I have a TMO Galaxy S9 and would like to be able to change my display language to Norwegian. Now, obviously, that isn't an option for US models; so, I'd need a Euro rom.
Are we able to flash official roms from other regions without any serious issues? Does the 960U, or whatever it is, rom have Norwegian as an option?
Thanks for any input!
EDIT: Yea, I'm an idiot. I didn't see the 3 dot menu where I could select "show all" languages.

Advice for foreign TP2: What should I do?

Hi. I'm obviously a noob but I tried searching and looking in the posts and stuff. I'm an American living in Taipei. There are TP2s everywhere but they're all in Chinese, both Windows and HTC's Touch Flo are in Chinese. I've tried shopping in HK and Taiwan and can't find any in English.
What should I do? Should I get a Chinese TP2 and get an English version of WM6.1 and figure out a way to install an English Touch Flo? Or can one ROM fix it all? Or can I get something from you guys here that would just switch it to English? I really don't even understand what my options are.
I keep reading about HardSPLs and flashing the radios and I have no idea what's going on even after reading the noobie walk-though for first time Rom flashes. Is this like an android phone flash? You pick the "flavor" of OS you want and then load it up and you're good to go? Any advice would be appreciated! Even if it's just telling me what threads I didn't find that already answer this question.
From the looks of it, you guys probably have some kind of tweaked version of HTC's touch flo that runs better than the original and has more options? If that's right, that would be really cool to get. I'd like to use my phone for internet browsing and video viewing. Retaining Chinese-input would be a plus, but beggars can't be choosers! Thanks.
Probably doesn't matter where you get the phone. Just flash you a WWE rom ( World Wide English).
I would go with a Chinese TP2 and learn to flash the ROM to English. Do remember to backup your original ROM though, you may need to restore it to claim warranty repairs.
Where did you look in HK? English versions are only stocked in small quantities in stores here due to most ppl are mainly Chinese proficient, so they are sold out very quickly.
Welcome to forums,
No matter where you buy it in the world, all are made in Taiwan, or some place close.
So is not really an issue..you can reflash your desired ROM.
Great. I guess I just need two things.
1. The Rom. Could someone tell me which ROM to use, or maybe give me a link to where to download it or what thread on the form talks about the ROM I should use.
2. How to install it. I read the "installing a ROM for the first time" sticky post and it seemed a little over my head. Is there a more step by step example or anything out there? Or maybe a program I can download to flash my ROM?
Thanks!
Do a search on Rhodium section, you´ll find all you need!

[ROM] RotoKM2 Pre-Rooted Firmware v1 [Jan 19, 2011]

Heres a heavily modified KM2 firmware. This wasn't easy.
In a nutshell its JME-v4 without the modified Swype.
All the files are here:
http://files.deodexed.com/ModADroid-Galaxy-Tablet/Rotohammer/KM2/
Please backup your apps and settings with Titanium Backup from the market.
Write down ALL your current APN settings in Settings/Wireless/Mobile/Access Point Names/, the one with the green dot next to it. There is 14 settings in all.
Its a first release. Use the upgrade if coming from Roto-JME. You can always go back to JME as well after testing.
Then Ill collect suggestions/tweaks for v2.
Thanks
Still enjoying the jme v4, but i wanna try this one..Thank you.
I used Titanium, backed up apps and user data separately, then using Odin3 1.7, in PDA went Roto-KM2-Upgrade-v1.tar, and the Addon-KM2-Modem.tar in the Phone. Everything else blank, no check in re-partion, start. 3:33 Pass! Long time restarting, on Samsung screen a while, then everything back to normal, everything working.
Thank you Roto for your time and energy for us. You are a true gentleman!
Edit: What's with that Panzer Panic?!
Km2 Modem
Just to clear, as im using a samsung tab from tmobile, the only connection i can get is the edge, no 3g or h.
This KM2 modem gives EDGE and voice. Hop on over to the Roto Modem Switcher thread and get the Roto-3G modem if you want 3g/H. Follow the steps to get both. T-Mo tab user here too. The switcher script works fine, and overwrites this KM2 modem.
If you already have a 3G/H modem, flash the upgrade leaving the Phone button blank.

Great job!
But I do have questions
Can I use upgrade version if I'm already with official KM2?
And I'm using Swype asian version(I use US English and Thai keypad). Do you have Thai keyboard available in this one?
I really want to use asian Swype with the fullscreen resolution. hehe.....
I wish you have all language available for Swype keyboard in your rom because I'm your real hard fan.
KM2
Can someone tell us a little more about KM2:
1.) European Rom?
2.) Locales included?
3.) collaboration with [CF-Root v2.2]?
4.) Improvements?
Thankx!

I left the standard Swype installed with the Asian languages. But, the Samsung keyboard has all the combined JME-v languages.
I don't use Swype, so I'm not very interested in hacking it.

Actually, I got it to work with stock KM2 for the first time, but as soon as change some files in the file system it starts to FC. I haven't had time to isolate what and why.

[Q] hi every one

im new in htc flashing and rom updating field so i really dont know how to flash or flash by sd card i was just trying hard to flash my desire z into spanish langauge but cant have it plz any one can tell me how to fla**** and how to flash it with spanish langauge so that i can have spanish in my desire z htc phone waiting for the reply thanx
What stock ROM? Doesn't the stock Euro ROM give you the option of picking the language when you first boot the phone and set it up? Is Spanish not one of those choices?
Terrible thread subject, by the way. Please try to name your threads according to the question you are asking. Imagine if everyone named their threads something like "hi everyone". You will get more exposure if you name your threads better, also. Many people are not even going to bother clicking on a thread named "hi everyone".

if i have the option to select spanish language i wont be here no longer to ask you guys to help me out and iam sorry for my subject the way started my question anyways theer is no spanish even though i have tried to update it but no luck as i told you guys i really dont know how to flash or change the language by stock rom or by using ruu method so any ione can help me plz?
Have you tried this? The stock rom should have Spanish. If it isn't there, Find a rom that has spanish, like this one and Flash it like this.
You shouldn't need to flash anything, Spanish is built into the stock ROM. Select the language as linked in the previous post.
There should be not just one, but SIX different choices for Spanish (different regions).
there is no spanish
i have seeen all over the places there is no spanish i dont know why there is not spanish can some one tell me how can i flash to have spanish language?????
What country are you in. Where did you buy the phone?
If you go to Settings>About phone>Software information, what Build number and Software number is listed?
iam in spain but i bought it from the holland
I thought all of Europe used the stock EU ROM, so I'm surprised that it doesn't have Spanish on it. If I'm understanding you correctly, you've gone to the language selection as previously stated, and Spanish is just not listed?
You may be able to flash the stock EU ROM without rooting. But it would be handy if you told me what ROM version you are on (which I already asked, and you neglected to answer).
Otherwise, root, g-free and flash Virtuous custom ROM, which definitely has Spanish on it.
What language options does your rom have available?
go to settings -> language & keyboard -> select language
my TyTN 2 has, among others, Espanol (Espana) and Espanol (Estados Unidos). I can't believe that this POS old phone would have more language options than a brand new DZ.
It occurs to me that the stock Euro ROM is labelled "WWE" as in World Wide English. So that ROM might only have English.
http://shipped-roms.com/index.php?category=android&model=Vision
If true, I find that amazing, considering the multitude of EU countries the Euro DZ is being sold in (but would explain a lot as far as the OP's issue). The Virtuous ROM is built of the Australian 1.85 ROM, and has more languages than I can even list, including some I've never even heard of!
The OP might need to flash a different ROM. Virtuous is probably a good choice, if he want the same Sense experience as his stock.

[Need confirmation] Another Galaxy Nexus GSM version

OK, I bought my phone as well as many other of my friends from clove.co.uk and handtec.co.uk.
The phone came with the build ITL41F and baseband I9250KKXX1.
Using morelocale2 and the settings 'iw, IL' giving us part Hebrew support (right to left but still English menu).
Some retailers here in Israel reports they have galaxy nexus with the option to chose Hebrew from the language menu and it will completely turn the phone to Hebrew (including menu).
Trying to get the details so I'll know what the version is so I can flash it on my galaxy nexus but he retailers doesn't give any details.
Please if you can check your galaxy nexus and see in the languages if you have Hebrew (not for keyboard), will gladly to inform me.
I checked my languages menu for 'Hebrew' and 'עברית' (not sure if thats right... thanks to google translate). But neither are in the menu.
GSM version btw.
apparently there is another baseband which i'm having issues to find it.
thanks for trying anyway!
Hi DId you get any updates regarding RTL?
A very late reply
Only came across this thread now, probably not relevant anymore, but hey.. you never know!
As far as I can see, official Hebrew support (as in the system UI being in Hebrew) doesn't seem to be something that Google provides out of the box, but rather something that Samsung itself has made.
Let me explain - when I first got our phones, they came with the yakjuxw (Samasung) build. After updating the phones to the Google official 4.0.4 update, the option for Hebrew (along with many other languages) had disappeared at the initial startup screen as a system language.
If you want to make your system language Hebrew, you need to either
a) downgrade to one of Samsungs builds (4.0.2)
*or* (if you haven't already done this)
b) flash a custom ROM with the language built in it. I have AOKP, which is excellent, and I've tried the CM9 nightlies, also with Hebrew.
I recommend the latter option, by the way (who wants to downgrade?)

Looking for Rom to make Dutch available on my phone

Hi there everyone,
I recently bought myself a HTC desire 526 in Germany, I specifically asked the shopkeeper if Dutch was available on my phone.. He said, yes, and if not, you will surely be able to download it... So, here we are... I understand that I have to download a new Rom on my device...
Could anyone be so kind to help me out with that? I would deeply appreciate your help... Thank you...
Peter
Hi Peter,
You should be able to go into settings, then select "Language & Keyboard" or Sprache & Tastaur in Deutsch
Tap the Language/Sprache setting and you should be able to scroll to your preferred language. On my device Nederlands is an available option
As for installing a custom ROM, no one I know of has been able to get S-off or root on this device yet so we do not have any custom roms available yet. Keep checking back and hopefully we will soon.
