How to root Android 6 Marshmallow in the best way without updating to Nougat or Oreo? - Samsung Galaxy S7 Active Questions & Answers

Hello, I have updated my Active (Android 6) to the latest version of Android 6 via OTA:
SS-G891AUCS2AQA1
Now, I want to know what is the best way to root the phone (without updating Nougat or Oreo). Can you help me? Thank you very much.

Comrade, can you help me in this doubt also?

I saw that thread, but unfortunately it says "Nougat" and apparently it is not a very stable root, it causes lower performance. I think Marshmallow is easier to root, but I'm not sure what steps to follow.

@miniminus, can you help me please?

Can someone please help me?

If you can't find it, I don't think there is a way to do it.

you can apply the OTA update if you wish but it maybe weeks, months or impossible to gain root access again if they've closed the loopholes so it could well be your stuck with it.
Maybe someone of the members here will provide us with a root-enabled update.zip

I'm pretty sure within hours of the official ROM being available to the mods there will be a download available.

Advice on Root and Lollipop

I was pretty excited for Lollipop to come out, but I didn't know I wasn't able to receive the OTA if I had rooted. I've been getting the attached screen. So, I'm trying to update it through Kies, but I'm not seeing the US version out yet. Will the tablet even update if it's rooted? Should I just go for a 5.0 ROM? Which would be the best? Thanks in advance.

Sorry, I forgot to specify: I have the 8.4 (T700). :-/
Only Korea is available at the moment.
Before you flash it, read the thread posted above. This is important.

firmware update (security patch) on rooted Canadian V30 , H933?

Hi folks, sorry for the trouble. I looked through the guide section without success. I ended up rooting my Canadian model last night and now plan to apply the security patch / firmware update from October but not sure what's the best way to go about it ?
Should I use LGUP as I did using the Frankenstein method? I also thought about sideloading the update but again, not sure how to tackle this.
your help would be appreciated. Please point me in the direction of the thread and I should be okay. Thanks again.

This is all well and good if you don't need mobile data. Otherwise I would not recommend this at all.

AOSP Extended whelp

I need help on installing AOSP Extended v8.0 (Android 11), cuz all the tutorial videos i watched are either complicated or miss links and files necessary
So, can somebody guide me on intsalling it?
Thanks in advance!
P.S.1: The phone is Redmi Note 8 (ginkgo), unlocked bootloader, rooted
P.S.2: Preferably send links of the files and dont attach them for security reasons

Any reason you cannot just follow the instructions in the OP for this ROM?
Also did you notice the thread is locked due to some issue with kernel?

Yes I noticed it. It says it's due to a source link missing. I was wondering if you could give me that link and any link needed.

Sorry I am on v7.3 for 10 and have no interest in upgrading.
Even if I was why would you think I would have the link when a mod has closed it because it is not available - seems a good enough reason to avoid no?
seems some people want to hardbrick their devices

General LE2123_11_C.64 EU

Hi Luca.
I just got a prompt for this update. Did you install it? Were there any adverse effects that you noticed?
I'd appreciate anyone's feedback before I take the plunge.
Thanks

I did, no problems for now.
Got the same version OTA, let's see how it goes
My battery life increased significantly on C.64. It's the best Android 12 experience on my 9 Pro (EU) yet!

I've never heard of Magisk. I've just had a look at their website.
If you have time, what we're the real life advantages you gained?
Any risks involved?
Thanks

Hi, Magisk is for root. If u want to do any modifications of your system the base is the root. But u need to unlock your bootloader and this will wipe all your data. If u don't know what is stay away.

Thank you for the advice. I haven't rooted a phone since the LG G3!!!
I'm really happy with the performance of the 9 pro as it is, it's a fantastic phone, especially for the measly sum of £450
I came from a Huawei p30 Pro which was also a great phone (apart from AAwireless headaches) but an update to EMUI 11 ruined it so I learned a hard lesson there.... Seek advice or research updates before you jump in head first
This forum has been a really helpful tool for me over the years, so thank you again everyone.
