Is flashing 9.6.12 China Stable MIUI9 > 8.9.20 China Developer MIUI10 possible? - Xiaomi Mi Max 3 Questions & Answers

My Max 3 arrived from Giztop with China Stable 9.6.11. I didn't want to update it but I forgot to uncheck automatic updates, and it updated overnight to 9.6.12.
I downloaded MIUI 10 China Developer 8.9.20. Does anyone know if flashing this via fastboot will cause a brick because 9.6.11 is a higher version number than 8.9.20?
Thanks!

Yes, you can flash it, both roms have the same ARB version.
You don't need fastboot/MiFlash to switch from stable to dev china. You can flash the recovery version of 8.9.20 through system updater.

I flashed from 9.6.12 to 8.9.20 yesterday by fastboot (bootloader unlocked unofficially). No problem
Only bug: GPS does not work for all apps like google maps

You need to enable permissions. Location on. No apps have permissions enabled properly in Miui due to optimization.

Every permission is given. Did you use maps with 8.9.20?

Nope, I'm on 8.8.9 eu. I told everyone 8.9.20 has bugs. Wipe your cache and dalvik cache first. If that's not helpful, try switching to revolution OS miui based custom rom that was just released: https://miui.revtechs.me/en/mimax3/

Interestingly, Here Maps does get the GPS signal.

Wipe data of Google maps or go into recovery and wipe cache and dalvik cache.

Reinstalling Maps solved the problem. Thanks

well from a custom ROM to stock you should always do a wipe.
To install this rename to update.zip and run?
Can I install this with TWRP or mus I install previous the stock recovery?
Thx.
You can flash it manuell with twrp. Also it is possible to do it as update.zip, then it's running it automatically trought the twrp.

Donwload the update manually via miui site and flash it via twrp.
OTA only works on stock recovery. If you had done a quick research you would've found that.

1. may you install google installer
2. better you convert your bs3 to global. i tried, CN joyui12.5 then convert to global. and global rom just fine for google services
Hello, thanks for your reply.
I will never move to global rom because cn rom is very stable, not global one.
I used OURPLAY and everything works now.
Do you have a link to download CN JoyUI? Could you send it to me, please?

Try this

I tried OURPLAY but Google assistant not work at all, also Maps, and i can not turn on Face unlock. Help me to fix this. Thanks.
Found this solution to fix everything:
-Root w Magisk
-install Magisk hide props (to configure the fingerprint props via terminal)
-install Gapps core by Wacko1805
-enjoy everything workin (remember to set all permission 4 every app)

Question What is Kernel Reboot:RTC?

I am on Miui 12.0.3.0 RKHINXM and I am facing reboot and shutdown issue twice a month. When I check miui logs it shows kernel reboot: keypad for shutdown and kernel reboot: rtc for restart.
Should I update to latest version? Latest version has much lower battery backup as per some users.
Attached is the screenshot.

Hi. Anyone?
Should I update or not as my phone came with this software and its working fine apart from occasionally rebooting 2-3times a month.
Idk about kernel reboot rtc things bugs...but i'm suggest you to update it to the latest version..at least latest version of A11 which is MIUI 12.5.18/ 12.5.19, it's already too far your rom version to the last version (12.0.x. to 12.5.x) ..if it's bugs from rom, i think last version should already fixed that bugs.

Question I have several problems when I get to Miui 14

The first thing I want to say is that I'm using Google Translate
I just updated the EU ROM MIUI 14 and I have 2 errors below.
+when I first uploaded the rom, the status bar was normal but then the status bar, the notification panel, it was completely transparent,
+When I go to Google services and some parts of the settings, it changes the background color to light brown.
I need to know if it's a ROM bug or if I've
installed something wrong, and I'll fix it.
looking forward to help from everyone..
I know the EU ROM can't update via OTAs. But on MIUI 14, I open the update section, there is a message "Choose to update via OTA or via TWRP" I also see the section Select update package in the settings section
Thank you.

When updating from android to the next android you better make factory reset to avoid confliction between the two systems.

First I thank you for your reply.
i tried factory reset but it didn't fix it.
my case is like reading mode, but i don't turn it on at all both before the upgrade and after the upgrade.
When I upgrade, I can restore previously backed up data.
Which EU version you installed is it Stable or Beta.
When this happens it is advised to install original version of miui and then flash EU one to resolve issues.
upgrading from 13.0.6 upwards shouldn't be an issue i expect you must have had something on the system which is broken before hand.

i am not good at computer, before upgrade was running miui 12.5.8 .
now i need to go back to 12.5.8 or to miui china.
if back to 12.5.8, I asked the store where I bought it and flashed the rom, it said "if back to the old version of 12.5.8, the phone may leak.
if i go to miui china, can i update myself via ota to go back to miui.eu.
