Camera quality when using a microg based rom - OnePlus 5T Questions & Answers

Hi, I'm using lineageOS for microg on my one plus 5t, I installed gcam arnova and I tried to take pictures in normal light and low light. Noise is high even during daytime. The general quality of any photo or video (audio too) is not comparable with that of the oxygen camera, it's horrible. I would like to understand if it is a problem of lack of proprietary OxygenOS libraries or the problem is another. An example of daytime noise and nightime here (big image) instead during low light conditions it is totally unpresentable:

The same problem appears using any combination of these aspects: gcam, gcam with suggested settings, LOS cam, LOS cam or gcam arnova with API2enabler or 5tCameraFix or both.
Where is the problem? Can I solve it using lineage for microg without using google services?

Hi ! I'm using ArnovaG2 Gcam v8.3b1 with "Oneplus 5T Camera Libraries Fix" and "Pixel 2 colours" magisk modules.
Pictures I take are great, so maybe you can try this.
Also, be sure to choose the HDR+ enhanced option in app.

Ok but are you using microg? I tried: overexposure is fixed but the photo has much less quality than the one taked with the oxygen camera and there is a problem with autofocus.

No, I've HDR fully disabled but I tried with and without HDR+ and the problem is the same: details are really less than with oos camera. I'm using the lineage stock kernel, should be the problem? Do you have the same results with singularity kernel and with lineage stock kernel?

I can't compare with OOS because I never used it, sry.
I'm using Redflare kernel at the moment.

Micro g has nothing to do with photo process.

Camera 2 API Fix?

After applying jigs4wkiller's zip to my mi5s for the camera2 API fix as well as google camera I noticed that the openCamera app still did not detect that the device was capable of using the camera2 API. I later learned it is because openCamera requires that the device's android.hardware.camera.level is equal to limited, full, or level3. In the case of the mi5s, it is set to null. Is there any way to fix this?
I use openCamera for its great manual controls which can only be accessed if it detects that the device supports the camera2 API.
Also, the google camera 60fps feature does not seem to be working properly when using MGCB_7.0H_C2API_Full_PXL2_v.1.4.apk which leads me to believe that something else is wrong.

Freedcam appears to have stopped development(thread is closed, no download link), and really would rather not buy ProShot when it doesn't even have a 4/5 on play store. Any other recommendations for a manual camera? I've tried Cinema fv 5, filmic pro and cinema 4k and none of them are better then open camera for filming imo.

Just checked my mediaprofiles.xml, and the main 1080p profiles aswell as the encoder max fps profile are set to 60 fps.

Just bought proshot and tried it out. Unfortunately it doesn't have 1080p at 60fps or infinite focus so I can't consider it a replacement for openCamera.

I use 3 GCAM Ports and they all work for different situations the first one is the Selfie CAM which is by Arthur which is the only GCAM Port that works for Front Camera... the second one is V2 or the version (5) port which is the old non V3 GCAM which has kinda best processing and has alot of options I usually use that one for Rear Shots but I also have the V3 Port by BSG I think which is very similar to the V2 but has newer HDR Processing thing It works alright I switch between the V2 and V3 depending on the situation I also have the stock MIUI Camera cuz It's most stable If something goes wrong with rest.

GCam_7.2.010_Urnyx05-v1.4 works fine for me ... except that selecting an auxiliary camera will crash the app.

I just followed this guy's guide and punch in the settings manually.
It does show improvement from the default app in terms of contrast and focus.
BUT it does not contain options to use the 64MP and Macro settings etc.... there are things missing in terms of all the hardware you can use.
So for now I'm using GCam if I need to take pics in normal camera mode, video and wide-lense, panorama or the amazing 360 view feature.
And use the default app for 64MP, Makro lens and slow-mo features. This version of GCam does crash on some of the options like Lens Blur, so it is not perfect.
i am very happy with the stock camera , on the latest update the quality is just fine

Ans I agree.
I tried to take pictures on low light conditions with the stock camera and compared with Google and ended up preferring the stock camera versions.
To be honest, sometimes AI overdoes things, but overall camera quality isn't bad. Even for interior pictures.

Perfect. Thank you
Im using the BSG model from their telegram group. Just tested selfie. Damn my skin tone way better even compared to the selfie from my pixel 5. Pixel 5 somehow gave warmer result.
Pardon the file name. Thats the typical filename for files downloaded from Telegram
Heres the comparison of 1 single take https://photos.app.goo.gl/kk5Xjt7aMVaJ3yz2A
Using the GCam I've noticed a couple of nice things.
1. The camera app does not take over your music app like a stock camera app.
2. Some picture quality improvements. (i am looking forward to testing in dark environments)... Stock app was marginal.
A few questions.
1. Anyway to change save location to SD?
2. What are your settings?
I have:
HDR+ Control enabled
wide angle auxiliary lens enabled.
4k time-lapse (not tested)
4k video (not tested)
Cheers!
@fuadhdmini thanks!
download the BSG camera in fuadhdmini's post above. Seems to have more features available and a better GCam.

I don't know if we can ever really "expect" anything... These two gcams above are pretty good. I thibk stock is pretty good also. Each camera seems to do something a little better than the others.

Now I'am using another build. I am very sorry that I cannot agree that all is working perfectly for A12. Till A11 i had not any problem, these issues seems to be the A12 specific. That's all folks

Hi, i see i've been a while from last respond but i just install GCAM on my OP8Pro and i dont know how to fix the one thing:
When i open stock camera app and i tap on screen it focuses on this point. In GCAM when i tap on the screen it looks like the focus remain when it was and only white balance is changing.
Can it be fixed to make the camera set the focus where i touch the screen?
Thanks a lot
Regards
