What apps are you looking forward to on your Galaxy Watch? - Samsung Galaxy Watch

I can not wait for a working Philips Hue app. I am checking the Gear store every few days. A few have been added since but there are either issues with it working on and off or the Widget not working. I need the widget!
Also, a Samsung Multiroom speaker update for Tizen 4! I searched this up before getting the Galaxy Watch and it looks like there is one for Tizen 3 but nothing for Tizen 4 yet.... Boo
What are you waiting for?

Yeah, it's frustrating to see so many apps available for WearOS that are not available on Tizen. I have the LTE enabled Galaxy Watch and would love to be able to leave my phone behind at home sometimes and still have access to the functionality of my favorite apps. Hoping these app developers start getting us some content on Tizen! Here's my wish list: Alert360, Amazon Music, Uber, Lyft, Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, Skype, Skype for Business, Google Maps.

I thought I knew what I was getting in to when I bought the watch but with many devs not updating their apps, the app list for the Galaxy watch is less than the already sparse Gear S3!
The Spotify app is pretty good so my local music needs are fulfilled but apps like Skype, SfB and Uber would be an excellent addition to the watch.
WhatsApp, I can do with the replying to notifcations. I don't need to look through previous convos.
Google Maps, I paid £1 for a companion app. Works really well for turn by turn navigation. It dosn't give you the birds eye view but it guides very very well and hasn't failed me yet. Start a journey on Google Maps (On your phone) and it will auto start the compantion app on the watch. Its called "Gear Navigation". Free app for watch but paid app app on Google Play.
Having Uber on my wrist.. Might make it too easy!

I think there is an Uber app for Tizen now

Having just transferred from gear s3 to Galaxy watch, ALL my apps (and they are a lot) that were bought for the gear (tizen3) now work for Galaxy watch (tizen4). There is a Phillips hue app in the store and an Uber app too also for Galaxy watch. You may need to change your country store to USA to see them all (there is a topic for this under the gear forum). The Uber app only though works only with a Samsung phone.

I would like to get a podcast app.
Spotify don't have podcasts on the watch app.. Why, just why?..
Audible would be another app, then I can leave my phone @ home.

I believe Tizen has a bigger market share than WearOS now, surely developers will notice?

I talked with customer service at Audible.
They have an app for the apple watch.
I sugested that they make an app for the Galaxy watch too.
They thanked me and forwarded the request.
If there are more Audible customers here, it will probably help if you did the same.
Chat with them here: https://www.audible.com/contactus?n1=something_else&n2=other

Is there any application that I can use for remotely turn on or off Wi-Fi, flash light, sound... On my Samsung device from my Galaxy watch? I think there was some application on Gear S3 but I cannot remember how it calls....

That's the one I looking for. Thanks ?

Personally, I just want an app that stores notification history so that I can access old messages. There is 1 old app called NWS that does this but it drains the watch battery like MAD (5% per hour just from this app).
I am getting so frustrated by the lack of this simple feature that I will either make the app myself or return the watch.

Hi, please see below, this is one of the several threads on the subject, basically you need a vpn app on your phone to produce a US IP address and the Sim card removed:

Some Ideas for Google Now

Google is probably holding back with Google Now, not wanting to scare people away by releasing too many features too soon that show just how much it knows about us. Here are my ideas:
1. Send to Now – As you browse the web or read a book, you could highlight words or people’s names to Google Now so it loads up information about them for you to read through later.
2. Photos – when you take a photo of a landmark, Google Now could load a card with information about the landmark. I think Google Goggles already does this but now would be a better platform.
3. People – when you take or scan a photo of a person or their business card, Google Now could load up a card in the background with their LinkedIn or G+ profile.
4. Things – scan a barcode or object and Now loads up information (price, retailers etc) about it. Again, just like Goggles but better.
5. Rules – Google could let us write rules to trigger cards. For example, I could ask Now to pop up a card reminding me to take my groceries from the fridge in my office when I start my car (connect to my car’s Bluetooth) at work on a Friday evening. I already kind of do this with an app called Automate It by the way – it’s similar to Tasker.
6. Networking – Google Now could load profile cards of people nearby who have opted in to the networking feature.
7. Second Screen – Google Now when prompted could listen to what’s playing on your TV and offer more information about the programme. It could even offer links to purchase products advertised on TV or radio.
8. Related Articles – As you browse the web, Google Now could build up a list in the background of other articles related to those you have read and you could later review the list at your leisure - rating, reading and/or discarding the suggestions as you see fit.
9. Conversations - This one is a little scarier than the others and I’m not sure I would opt in to it myself, but Google Now could listen in on your phone and email conversations and provide related information – links to products you discussed or articles about concepts or news mentioned. As I say, I think I’d pass on this one.
10. Custom Cards – Google could let retailers or even websites build custom cards that are loaded when you check-in to their stores or visit their websites. These cards could include special offers and promotions, best-selling items etc. I imagine Google could even charge businesses for such a service if it were so inclined.
In all of this it would be important that they are opt in only – opt out wouldn’t be good enough. Also, Google Now should always remain non-intrusive but perhaps one should be allowed to set which cards should pop up as notifications, cause the phone to vibrate or simply load in the background. I might want a reminder to trigger a notification by the way but for others I may be happy to ignore or review at my convenience. By the way, I haven’t seen or used Google Now yet so if I’ve completely misunderstood how it works or could work, this is my excuse.
Oh and I apologise in advance if this is not the right forum – I couldn’t immediately find a better one and I see others have posted about Google Now here too, I guess since the G Nex is one of only two devices with it on at the moment.
What are your ideas for Google Now?

Isn't Calendar already integrated? I see reminders for my calendar entries in Now. Don't know about setting events via Now though, since it isn't completely functional in German / other languages than US english.
On topic, OP has some great ideas! Hope to see some of the less scary integrated
Really? I thought reminders were only within the alarm app... I will have to double check...

I see a reminder for this evening right now, it's definitely integrated
there was a interview with matias, and he confirmed that there is calendar feature, only reading from it.
there isn't any feature to create a calendar entry from NOW. but he emphasise that the API exist and all down to developers.
maybe hinting that its possible for 3rd party developer to write some custom card that can be installed?
I would love to be able to teach Google Now how to pronounce my name, placenames in my area etc. so that dictation works better.
Having said that, I find the accuracy of the dictation to be outstanding for most other things. I love GN!
There are so many possiblilities to this feature. I can't wait to see how it evolves over time. I actually use it quite a bit more than I thought I would. It makes a simple task so much easier, such as setting an alarm! Being able to set calendar appointments would be amazing though!

I think they're referring to that you can't use now to create a calendar event. If you want it to remind you of something, it can only set an alarm for you.
Music, it should tell you when an artist you like has a new single or album coming out, and if they are going to be playing a show withing X miles of your location. Or have just announced a tour etc.
Media, it should tell you when a new movie or video game is being released and give ratings for it and such.
I like idea number one, maybe adding in a dictionary for certain words, although that may be part of what your talking about.
That's one of the nice things I like about reading books on my Ipad. You can highlight a word in a book you're reading and, it will define the word.

Well for the concert notification, I stumbled upon an app called song kick. Which will scrap your Google music and pandora ( maybe something else too) and email you when an artist you liked or own content from is touring near you.

It should show a card every monday, wednesday, friday morning when I first unlock my device with the day's XKCD comic and the mousover text.
Keeping tabs on movie releasedates would be nice too. Google "The dark knight rises" and on the release day it shows up on a card with the theatre times for your cities movie theatres.

Excellent idea. The more media related info the better imo.
One more feature I'd like to see is the ability to send a time or location based reminder to someone else. The person can then choose to accept the reminder or not. I suspect Apple will do this soon if they haven't already. The reminder could then appear in Google Now along with any notes the sender included.

How to get a list of purchased apps?

Other than looking at my CC purchase report. Report is OK. I can filter by "Google" and I believe that all the paid apps are included.
But is it possible to do that in Google Play Web or App?
In the Web I can find only all Apps I downloaded and All Apps which are installed. But they are not categorized as purchased or not.
Any ideas?
I wish google would do this also in their play store app, I'm sick of seeing every app I have downloaded over the last 3 years in the all apps tab an I can't even delete them from the list.

Exactly. I can see only a list of every ****ty app I downloaded. It's really annoying that we can't filter the list.
Ditto! I remember the "old" Google market where you can look at just the purchased apps, but now with Google play you can't.
I wish they can create some way to sort.
Now, you might be able to see all you purchased apps on a pc. I think.

Nice ! I never even thought of that. G.W. is useless in Canada so far, so I never would think to check that, but lo and behold. Thank you !
It would be nice if Google Play Store could do that though, but at least this way I can view the list, then search the market for specific purchased apps, rather than scrolling thru a jumbled, unorganized mess of crapps I have installed in the past.

You can see a list of all purchases if you log into the Google Wallet site, however it also includes all purchases from the play store (music, magazines, offers), so it might still be too much information. My advise would be to install appbrain on your phone and sync the apps to appbrain. It will compile a list of paid applications for you and is a handy way to see how much you have spent in the market. The only short fall of this method is it will not account for apps that were purchased and removed prior to syncing.

Best Sony Smartwatch2 [SW2] Apps&Games

NOTE: This thread isn't updated by me anymore as I had to sell my SmartWatch 2. Check the latest replies to the thread for new apps, though. Keep 'em coming!
Good day fellow XDAians!
I recently bought my very own Smartwatch 2 and I had no idea where to start looking for applications. The built-in search function of Sony's Smartwatch2 app redirects to the Play Store with a certain search query but it not always shows all apps that belong to the category you've selected. So I decided to make a thread dedicated for only the best Apps&Games for the Sony Smartwatch 2!
If you know a great app or game, please let me know. I'll try to include most useful apps in this post. For each category, the free apps and games are listed before the paid ones. Let's get started.
First off, the application that is required for the SW2 to connect with your phone:
> SmartWatch 2 SW2 by Sony Mobile Communications
Secondly, with the new firmware where we can change wallpapers and create our own watchface, Sony decided to add an Easter Egg to the calculator. Have you ever wondered what 1035 equals?
> 1035 = Free Snake Game
(in case it wasn't clear yet, if you type "1035" in the calculator on your smartwatch and then press "=", you'll find the new game on your SmartWatch)
Notifications
> WatchIt! by Jonas Petersson
[free]
Will pick up notifications from the phone and display them in various ways.
> Watchify (Beta) SW2 Extension by A. Sagrebin
[free] [XDA thread]
Allows tons of notifications to pop up on your smartwatch, with Whatsapp, Email, Gmail and Hangouts currently supported to show 'extended notifications' so they'll show the entire message. It also allows setting options for these notifications such as not vibrating at night.
> Calendar smart extension by Sony Mobile Communications
[free]
Shows each upcoming calendar item with location and tapping an item shows more details.
> Quick Reply for SmartWatch 2 by IngeniousApps

> Media Control Extension by Lex
[free]
A beautiful app with large, comfortable buttons to control your smartphone's volume, play, pause, skip and for-/backward music; takes little time to load as opposed to Sony's media control application.
> Camera Smart Extension by Sony Mobile Communications
[free]
Turns your smartwatch into a remote smartphone camera trigger. Don't expect the live view to be smooth however.
Games
> 2048 for Smartwatch by Jonathan B.

Can't get enough of this game on your phone or in the browser? Why not have it on your smartwatch for free!
> BlackJack Extension by Tesseract Mobile

Smartphone apps with added support for the Smartwatch 2
> Light Flow by Reactle
[€1,75] [lite version: free]
Has the option to push all sorts of device notifications to the Smartwatch, but not the extended ones. Therefore you won't get full messages, only short text (pretty handy still if you had already bought this app).
> SmartVanilla Music by Alexander Watt
[free]
Extension to control music through the application
Other
> RSS for Smart Extras™ by Sony Mobile Communications
[free]
Read your RSS feeds on your SmartWatch!

That definitely looks like an interesting app!
Now I just wish I had a way to pay for it *come on Google, introduce me to your Play Gift cards here as well*
I will however included it in my list, as it seems original enough. Does it let users accurately reply whatsapp messages to incoming ones, and does it work in group chats as well? I just wish there was a way to have full whatsapp on your wrist, including all contacts and previous messages.
Does it actually show your message after replying in a 'conversation kind of way', including previous messages? If not, could that be an improvement to save previous messages as well?
Ha! Great thought..
It does accurately reply to whatsapp individuals and groups and sms as well..
I am working on full whatsapp conversations.. But even if I succeed in it.. I ll be a standalone app with no notifications stuff.. Because SW2 api limitations have binded me to cut short a few things...
Love your collection btw.. Keep it up! Cheers mate!

The idea of my post is not to put random apps in there, but apps that are actually one of the better (the app has 3 one star ratings and 3 two star ones, which makes me wonder...).
It looks to work well though, when I read the description. I might update my post with this game :cyclops:
EDIT: on your snake game: I tried it and it was laggy. Laggy in a way that it wasn't playable to me. The "calculator easter egg snake" is much better so I won't put that snake game in the post.

Google fit on Tizen 4.0+

Dear Amazing Tizen Developers,
I have had a quick look on here and am very enthused to see projects for porting google propriatary apps onto the samsung galaxy watches. (For example the google assistant app project)
I have a samsung galaxy watch active and I would like to see google fit reading the sensor data from my watch.
My android phone has both google fit and samsung health installed, however google fit integrates with a large number of apps, whereas samsung health barely integrates with anything.
Therefore I would like data to be taken directly from my watch to google fit.
I cannot sync data from samsung health to google fit as the data is recorded as 'not originating from google fit' and therefore cannot be used by the integrated apps.
I do not require google fit to run fully on the watch, only for the API to be sent the watch steps (and preferably heart rate) sensor data.
Have any of you attempted a project of this nature? Would anybody be willing to give it a go?
I am very happy to test and promote heavily when complete as there are many people like me who need google fit data for reward based apps.
Thank you very much in advance,
Anya
Hey! Great idea. I wondered the same about Google Fit and searched around. I came across this app called Health Sync. I just installed today and trying it out.
The app is in the Google play store.
"Sync between Samsung Health, Google Fit, Fibit, Polar, Garmin, Health Mate
Sync your health data between Google Fit and Samsung Health, or with Fitbit, Garmin, Withings (Health Mate) or Polar. Every 10 minutes or just a few times per day, you choose how often."

Firstly, thank you so much for replying and for giving this some thought. Unfortunately, HealthSync what what i was alluding to when I said we cannot sync data from samsung health across to google fit. This is because the data is marked as 'not originating from google fit'. Interestingly, this is exactly the same as other apps that send data to google fit, the data comes in with this mark and therefore cannot be used by apps that take data directly from google fit. (My example is the Vitality Insurance app, there's also a post on here which mentions the pokemon go app which does the same thing)
I don't know why they have this restriction, it's certainly very annoying because the HealthSync app is great and very reasonably priced.
Therefore we need something that hooks directly into the google fit API and sends the sensor data from the wearable directly into google fit, the app on the phone should then detect it as google fit activity data and allow it to be stored and transferred to other apps.
Looks like we really are looking at a development project.
Thanks for your interest anyway, hopefully we can find a resolution for this.

Firstly, thank you so much for replying and for giving this some thought. Unfortunately, HealthSync what what i was alluding to when I said we cannot sync data from samsung health across to google fit. If you want google fit support on reading data from galaxy watch, I think you should write the letter to google fit team for the support.

First place I went. The big companies - Google, Samsung - don't care. That's why I reached out to the developer community in the hope that someone else would find this need as well and who would have the knowledge and experience to have a go at solving it. I'm a developer myself, I'd love to work on this. But I only have experience in desktop development so would need a lot of help from someone experienced in mobile and wearables.
Any updates on this idea? Did anyone work on this?

Nobody got back to me on it. I've not had any success with any route so far. It's definitely a challenging development project.
I know people would be happy to pay for the feature though if someone was willing to try it.
Try the Health Sync app again. There might have been updates which should work for you.
I use this app to send my Galaxy Watch workouts/steps to Google Fit, which in turn is picked up (from Google Fit) to a few other services (e.g. Oura Ring). I don't see the indicator suggesting the info did not start at Google Fit.
I've only used this app for 3 months but it's been exactly what I need. Hopefully, this will work w/ your Insurance app.

Thanks for the thought, I installed it and tried it again for a week, several days running I did more than the necessary number of steps to be picked up by my insurance app, and healthsync transferred them to google fit.
But as before, they did not come through into the insuarance app.
So healthsync has not had sufficient updates to make this work yet
Still looking for ways to get samsung watch to directly send steps information to google fit API.
Did you try emailing health sync developer to see if they would consider syncing with your insurance app? They do a few 3rd party syncing. Probably not a big market for your insurance app but maybe not that hard for them.

Go the Google way?

So, eBay willing I will get my Huawei Mate Xs in about 10 days time.
And I have a difficult decision ahead of me. Do I Google or not?
Installing GMS and the Google apps will make my phone more like my existing Android device. But it will also introduce inevitable stability (and possibly security) issues.
Sticking to the Huawei apps avoids these, but limits my options somewhat.
What do you guys think. Do I Google or not?
If you can do without Google docs and drive, I say skip the Google hack. It's kinda risky. Even if you use the Mate XS as is without the hack, you can still use some Google services.
Gmail still works through Microsoft Outlook. Google calendar works through Business Calendar. Google Maps load fine even though can't sign in. Chrome works. Facebook Instagram WhatsApp all work.
So the only thing I use often that's missing for me is really Google drive, doc, YouTube. For latter I just go on the web browser to watch and it's ok. Not as good as app but not terrible.
I made a video of the whole setup if you're interested.

I agree. I'm using stock browser, email, and messenger. I can do almost everything just as if I was using Google.
misleading

You can have the best of both worlds by downloading vmos. I have the Huawei mate xs and it is working well.
The issue I have with VMOS is that I know *nothing* about the company who makes it. You are giving an awful lot of power to a company where the owners are unknown, that has no obvious revenue model, and where the code is closed source.
I sent a message using their contact us form, to understand what they were doing and to see if I could help with commercialisation (I'm a reasonably successful tech entrepreneur).
But I got no response.
So... I might use VMOS to run Uber in, but I'm not connecting my Google account to it.
Just got mine, tried without... but it was just not possible, there were about 10 apps I use regularly that do not want to work without Google services. Plus there are several apps I have purchased that I could either not use at all or would have had to use the free version full of ads - just not an option.
The videos posted in this thread were really hard to follow, ommitted important steps etc.
For me this one was great, even if it was still a pain and I needed 3 hard resets before getting there.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lYOU_YxrHhc
Now I only have 2 apps I can't use: Google Play music (but that plays fine in the browser so no big deal, also on VMOS if needed to be offline), and... the most stupid of things, the McDonald's app for getting coupons. That damn app is more protected than games and banking apps, it's ridiculous... it won't run on VMOS either.
EDIT: Damn it's been a while since I've been here, [email protected]

What about youtube music or banking apps?
Youtube Music works for me. Google play music didn't but since that's going to be killed shortly and once should migrate to YTM and use that it's what I did.
Banking apps most of mine work, only one doesn't.
im think for buy the huawei xs but if the xda dont want unlock root ....
I'm getting mine tomorrow and I'll try it without GMS and see how I like it. Biggest drawback I see is the lack of native Youtube app support, I prefer not to use the browser version.
