I play at 1280x720.
Smooth settings.
AA off.
Shadows off.
FPS limit off.
Some minor frame drops while in lobby where all 100 people are talking and doing stuff. Other than that, butter smooth. :good:

Low benchmarks compared to Mate 9

I was looking through the reviews and benchmarks on phonearena here and noticed the Honor 8 Pro scores quite a bit less than the Mate 9, also running the Kirin 960. Would that simply be down to the QHD screen on the 8 Pro?
I'm wondering how that would affect things like emulation with Dolphin, where single core performance is quite important. Would it not matter so much as you choose the resolution to render the game at anyway? So it wouldn't be QHD in dolphin or is it a driver setting which would need to be changed like on the Galaxy S8?

Yes, I'd put it down to QHD vs FHD.
As an aside my Honor 8 Pro has UFS 2.1 memory, while my Mate 9 has eMMC - so I'm even happier to be using the Honor as my daily driver. The Mate 9 is great in many ways, but the Honor screen is so much nicer!

I'm still weighing both of these up. I can't seem to find any Honor 8 Pros in stock, vmall has been out of stock since launch but Mate 9 is readily available.
Have you tried Dolphin Emulator on your 8 Pro? I'm not sure if the QHD screen will have any detriment! Is there an option to turn QHD to FHD in the settings like Samsung have?
The phone is not available on vMall or Amazon now, which is frustrating as people I've recommended the phone to can't buy - and sooner or later they'll buy something else instead.
I've not tried Dolphin Emulator but there is an option to drop the resolution for power saving, but unlike on the P9 where it toggled between 1080p and 720p, I've not managed to get it to actually do anything. The same for the Mate 9, P10 etc. Perhaps it only does it when running certain apps?

Thanks for your replies Jon, yeah it's a shame that it's not available now. I may end up just getting a Mate 9 because of it. I'm not overly keen on those black borders around the screen but I want a big screen/powerful CPU and I hate the S8+ aspect ratio (I'd prefer the Snapdragon anyway and that isn't available in Europe).
Maybe the QHD/FD toggle thing will happen in an update somewhere down the line. I'd only ever want QHD on if using VR, so a switch would have been handy. Hopefully you don't have to tie that in with turning the performance of the CPU down as well.
Hello, it is exclusively available from O2 Telefonica Store. And mine has emmc not ufs 2.1. Seems like a lucky box again...
https://www.o2online.de/e-shop/handys-ohne-tarif/honor/honor-8-pro-details
My black 8 pro has also the emmc
Any other testimonies on the storage type of your Honor 8 Pro?
I think Vmall specification pages indicate storage type as UFS, Anandtech also confirmed UFS 2.1 in their Preview.
Is it again a lottery between UFS/eMMC like with the P10 series?

I have bought honor 8 pro on a reseller website in France and it has eMMC memory too, i have called today vmall Europe (Huawei-Honor) customer and technical services, i reported the problem about memory type, they said they will make an investigation about it and will contact me...It is really a winning lottery and for some, a whining lottery
I don't think they will do something... And I don't find any information about the memory type on the European and Chinese vmall website.

There should be setting called SCREEN SAVER which is basically switching to the screen . I have used Honor 6 in passed so that maybe an option

I ended up getting a mate 9 instead. I prefer a bigger screen and you could only get the blue Honor 8 Pro from vmall, I wanted a black phone.

Good choice man. About the storage lottery, I really hate Huawei for that.
Well the RAM is waiting for commands from other components, and they will throttle before the "slow" 6Gb of emmc will, wouldn't worry about it that much.

dont take benchmarks for everything bro, benchmark is all about numbers, and numbers arent everything
Yeah. Real life performance is better than any benchmarks.
I didn't quite understand your last sentence.

The experience in Mi Max 2 is better, because there more Custom Roms or Customizations Kernels for Mi Max 2, and Mi Max 2 dont has problems with ARB.
In my opinion Mi Max 2 is the better!!
Mi Max 2 is better, because there more Custom Roms
yes mi max 2 the best
I own both and have the latest Havoc on my MM2..
I wouldn't trade by xiaomi.eu MM3 for anything... Well not until the MM4 comes out.

I agree.
I use in my MM2 Miui 10 Debloate v2 by HardRoch83 and complete debloate with XiaomiADBFastbootTools.
This works fine.
I am decide, if Xiaomi apply ARB in MM4, i dont buy!

Gaming Performance of MPM2

I think compare to the realme 2 pro and Honor 8X the Max Pro M2 performs well when it comes to gaming. One of my friends has an honor 8x but while gaming it lags at times while gaming but while playing on my Max pro M2 I don't feel any lag......Share your thoughts on the gaming performance of Max Pro M2.
If you are rooted then you can use GPU Turbo Magisk module... To improve GPU performance.... This tweak seems to be similar to GPU Turbo present in Honor phones...
In 15k it's beast in this category except honor play so... chill
I'm a heavy gamer usually pubg,A9 no issue s at all:good:

Question Same panel as Mi 11 ?

Hi, I'm torn between F3 8/256 and Mi 11.
What about the panel ? It's the same except QHD for one (Mi 11, 480 Hz touch sampling) and FHD for the other one (F3, 360 Hz touch sampling)
I need to save money so for me F3 seems to be the better choice, but I've one chance to get Mi 11 less cheaper than new one.
Thanks
Mi 11 is significantly better. However it depends on how much you want to spend extra as the Poco f3 is so good for its cost (better value then mi 11)
I was only talking about display.
Poco F3 starts selling tomorrow in my country. I need to make a choice.
I'm very interested, too.
By the way, F3 screen earned the highest evaluation (A+) at DisplayMate. It's only a full HD display, but less pixels = less energy spent to manage it.
I'm trying to make a choice between F3 and the Mi 11i (a rebranded Redmi K40 Pro+ for the global market)...
I think I should go for F3.
Mi 11i is not interesting for me (same display as F3). I need the best panel. Think Mi 11 has it, but I really don't wanna pay more than 500 euros.
Actually I own an Galaxy Note 10+ and I never use the wqhd+ resolution, It doesn't make any diference for me.
The phone itself is awesome, premium, but the exynos hardware is the reason i'm switching to Poco F3.
I bought 6GB RAM. 8GB was unfortunately not avalaible. Can it be enough ?
No DC dimming and no adaptive refresh rate.
It's still an outstanding panel nonetheless, just hope future updates fix the panel dimming under heavy load and high temperatures.
The Mi 11 had the same problem with reviewers upon it's release in January, seems like it's been fixed with the latest firmware update.

According to some reviews the 120 Hz rate is adaptable according to the displayed content and the DC Dimming function can be inserted with a future update or with a customized rom.
Is there any information what PWM frequency the F3 uses?
How much will be price?

Question [Q][SOLVED] is our phone really slow

sd778g benchmark shows better result than kirin 990 4g , but in real life , my mate 30 way more smooth and perform lots faster than mi 11 lite 5g ne , mate 30 kirin 990's difference is really far ahead .
Snapdragon 778G vs Kirin 990 (4G): tests and benchmarks
We put Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G against HiSilicon Kirin 990 (4G) to find out which SoC is better. See performance comparison in benchmarks and games.
nanoreview.net
Their performances are similar.
Perhaps it's the roms that make differences. MIUI is quite heavy, you can make Mi 11 Lite NE smoother by installing a minimal ROM likte LineageOS.
