Battery percentage indicator and screen lock - Xiaomi Redmi 6 Pro Questions & Answers

To see battery percentage, you have to pull the status bar down. I don't see any way to switch from bar to percentage.
I don't even understand why bar is used when percentage is better in every way possible. Does anyone know how to do this?
Also, does anyone know how to make the screen lock screen appear directly instead of needing to 'swipe up to unlock' when turning the screen on?

No way to turn battery percentage on..m on 9.6.4 as well

I think this might be addressed in MIUI 10, whenever it releases for RP6.
Don't understand how it got overlooked though, it is there in my redmi note 3 lol.

Go to settings and to status bar & notifications menu and there Battery percentage is available in MIUI 10, I don't know whether it is available in MIUI 9 or not.

MiUi 10 has that feature percentage gets displayed in the notch itself, using it RN

This sucks. Not only it DOESN´T show the percentage but when you install an app to add the percentage it won´t show anyway.

How are you using miui 10. Did you use flash it or otas are making the rounds?

Go to this link and download full rom of Developer ROM.
Place it in the internal memory of your phone, under a folder called "downloaded_rom".
Go to your MIUI updater, click choose package and upgrade.
This is just for once. You will get OTAs after that. No need of root or bootloader unlocking!
PS: This process will wipe your internal memory. So take backup, before doing this.
EDIT: Make sure your device is the Global edition or Indian edition. The rest don't have MIUI10, as of now, for the device.
Hit thanks if I helped you!

Darn it. I´ve just realized that this the Redmi 6 Pro forum...not the Redmi Note 6 Pro...which I could not find, btw.

Android 7.1.1

Well I got my mi6 today and I'm very happy with the hardware, but I can't use to use miui I think it's fast but it's to much customized, we have the Android naugat version with Almost no features from that.
We can't reply from notifications, we can't see who send us without use the 2 fingers that's so sad and so on.
Well if the miui continues like that I'm going to wait to have a lineage or I'll sell it. What do you think guys?
I just tried Floatify LockScreen. It draws over MIUI lockscreen and the pro version (about 2.5 bucks) will give you better lock screen notification management compared to Lollipop/Marshmallow/Nougat.
There are some notifications that can't be drawn on lockscreen however (i.e. Internet Speed Monitor and GSam battery monitor). In that case we just have to wait stock-flavored custom ROM like LineageOS.

That's not bad but it shows message on the lockscreen , do you know how to just show that I have a message and then to see I must unlock the mobile?

Isn't that the default way MIUI handle the notification? If you want it that way, why not use MIUI default? Maybe you can play with notification visibility? (Settings > Notifications & Status Bar > App Notifications)
My gripe with MIUI is that I can't see the chat message without pulling the notification shade out and 2-finger pull down again on the chat notification.
Is it confirmed that MIUI 8 is not a rebadged Android 6? Seems like there are loads of Android 7 features missing..... Thoughts?

Battery percentage on the notification panel

Hi everyone, just got LG G7 from tmobile. I am confused, almost on every picture on the internet I see battery percentage in the top right corner of the screen. In my case in order for me to see battery % I need to pull down the notification panel. Is there a way to fix that? I already went to battery settings and switched on the option to show the battery % in notifications panel. Please help.

I was about to post the same question so I'm looking for the answer too...
If you go into Settings and then Battery, there is a toggle that says "Battery Percentage on status bar".

Ok, I was just messing with it and you are right. It will never show it in the notch but it toggles that option in the notification drop down.
I love the phone, but seriously, what is the point of calling this a second screen if you still have to pull down the notification bar to see the icons?
I hope they add an option for always show icons....

Hmm, that is kind of odd. I wonder the reasoning for the bug on T-Mobile version?
Oh you know what, he's right. I been too busy gaming to realize it shows all the time outside of games.
Well as you can see in the screenshot below, it does not show up on the T-Mobile version of the G7

I have T-Mobile variant and it does show on mine. Did you update the device?
I'm on T-Mobile, and it's showing just fine for me, no pull-down required. Toggling "Battery percentage on status bar" in Settings | Battery toggles it off and on (for me, anyway).
I did a factory reset and now I have the percentage in the notification bar. Perhaps it a bug??
Has to do with display size. Turn it all the way down.
Go to:
Settings

You need to enable two things for this to work.
Go into Settings and then Battery and turn on "Battery percentage on status bar". \
You also need to select Standard from New Second Screen settings.

I have both set as you do and it still does not show. I am on to too
Ok tried everything. The only solution that works is to go to display settings and move the slider all the way to the left, the smallest size. Nothing else will work.

Yes this is the only solution that seems to work, good job guys
Now the question is, how do you make display size bigger without loosing the battery % in the notification panel? ?

Custom Rom.

Navigation buttons anyway to swap them around ? and make them appear or disappear ?

All my recent phones have been Oneplus phones (5 and a 5T) and there is always an option to change the order of the recent and back buttons, I tend to prefer them the opposite way round .....but usually not an issue to change, but I cannot find any button switching on the recent and back buttons.
Also is there a option to make the recent and back buttons just drop off the screen when surfing , on the 5T you can assign a gesture so just flick up from the bottom of the screen and the buttons appear, which is really useful when reading a website as it gives you more screen to view rather than losing a centimetre from the bottom of the screen.....but once again I cannot find such an option.....anyone know how or if this can be set ?
Other than those and the battery percentage not showing ( I just use an app instead and turn the battery icon off) I am enjoying the phone, but those two fairly minor things would be nice to work out...
Probably you need root to do this on stock Android (there is already a pre-patched Magisk boot.img for the A2L). Then an app or a (still non-existent) Magisk module will do the trick.

Not yet, but as I said above, if you search in the development section (very easy, there is only one thread at the moment) there is a user that posted a modified boot image that includes Magisk.
If you flash that image via fastboot and then install the Magisk manager apk, you'll be ok (there is a link to a guide in the same post with the boot image).
u can use xda navigation gusture..

HI , The only issue with the link is that it explains for rooted then has a link for non-rooted which takes you take a page of 24 pages full of different hacks that do not seem to explain how to do this for non-rooted phones.
Do you have a direct link to the non-rooted method please.

for the guys who don´t know if you press the settings button on the navigation bar bar about 10 sec ( keep doing until a new option appears on system menu) called interface tuning or similar that you can tweak the status bar
You can use "custom navigation bar", using adb instead of root.
this is not true. if it is true, show us.

maybe you mean notification shade
not navigation bar.
yes i can confirm that pressing the settings button on the notification shades for a few second make system UI tuner to appear on settings above developer settings. and it's only purpose is for hiding some statusbar icons.

Can't get notification shade to show up on lock screen

So I've gotten the latest .eu rom up and running, but I can't seem to get the notification shade to appear on the lock screen, even after toggling it. Anyone know what's up?

Works fine on 8.8.9 eu. Did you pull it down once toggled? (just being as detailed as possible to figure it out). Try using Android Pi Dark theme. That's what I've got. Maybe it's theme related. Shouldn't be but could be.

I couldn't seem to find anything like that. Also, while we're here, would you be able to tell me how to make it so my soft buttons auto-hide again? I clearly changed something I shouldn't have and now I can't find it again. If you could make money from ****ing up, I'd be a millionaire.

Full screen mode in settings. Type it and it'll take you to the apps. It auto hides it fit whichever apps you choose. Or download One Plus Gestures + Hide Nav Bar for even better customization.

Question: Status Bar Customization Tool in Android P v10.0.2.0

********
Hello,
it is really annoying
I have not found a suitable app to modify the status bar yet.
You can, however, set the DPI setting (minimum width) higher in the developer options.
So everything gets smaller and it fits more in the status bar.

Hi guys,
I just updated my Mi A2 Lite to the latest Android P version (v10.0.2.0) from Android Oreo.
At the end so far so good, but... for my OCD I have a very annoying issue.
It's a bit hard to explain that, but let's try:
In my status bar, by default, I have: Battery + %, 2 SIM Signals + WiFi + Do Not Disturb
In Oreo all good, but apparently Pie added the WiFi up/down network activities "arrow" and every time those arrows come out, basically auto hide my "Do Not Disturb" icon and replace with a small dot.
You can see it inside my 2 screenshot.
As I said, this is for me it's super annoying because my eyes are distract from the status bar that keep changing every seconds.
First of all, that happen to you guys? And doesn't annoying you?
I tried to use UI Tuner, but it seems working only with few icons, not with WiFi icon.
Do you know some tool (root) that can remove maybe the 2nd sim signal? Or maybe remove the network activities.
No idea... I just want my Oreo status bat back
Any idea?
Really appreciated and thanks!

Until then, only with the user interface tuner. I do not know anything that works with root.
If you deactivate the percentage of the battery is already gaining space and if the do not disturb is disabled, you will gain more space yet.

Use "UI Tuner Launcher"
You can download it from Play Store
Same problem for me, biggest grip with Pie
Has anyone find its solution ?
Because i noticed this after upgrading to pie (on oreo the dual sim signal indicator stack one over another)
Can't we mod or just have like oreo?
I can get battery percentage with System UI tuner (Nova launcher), but...hehe...I can see now %
But alarm icon, wifi/data icon and 1st SIM icon gone under little dot.
This is really frustrating.
And 1 more thing after PIE upgrading: there is no alarm icon and time on lock screen (when alarm is on).
Pie it's not an upgrade...for me look like downgrade.
EDIT: all fine now with lock screen...by itself somehow
Having the same problem. Statusbar icons dis- and reappearing every few seconds, why someone thought this is a good design choice is beyond my understanding.
Has someone found a solution yet?
