There are many workarounds, don't worry. First of all, make sure your DPI is at 240, if not, revert it to default or flash a market fix (it's somewhere in the forums). Secondly, search for MarketEnabler in the market (excuse the pun), look for the one with an icon that has the letters ME, and install it. Open it, go to the second tab, press and hold T-Mobile (the first one), and select Fake this network now. It will ask for root permissions, click allow, and try again. Let me know if that helped.

Tips:

From what i read, "baidu" is Chinese company modeled similar to Google and that these Baidu roms they release are optimized for those Baidu services. So I was expecting this rom to have all their Baidu content in it.

Okay... The rom itself runs pretty smooth in home screens and settings. But one big problem is Google apps. They arent included, and when i try to flash newest 4.2.2 jb gapps zip, i cant use phone because it gives google services crashed error popup. When i flash 4.3 gapps zip, it doesnt crash but google play says "no connection". Im trying to find a solution on this, tell me if you know something...
Okay, tested it for a hour. I didnt manage to get gapps working, so this rom is useless for me. From Antutu i got 13700. As i said before, UI worked smoothly, but the phone has still some elements in Chinese, even when i switched system language to English. There was Chinese, Englih and Spanish. With google apps and little perfomance boost (>15000 score) and fully english UI this would be best rom for P6 atm.

Wow, I have just installed this ROM and have played around with it for a while and I must say it is as interesting as hell !!
Very fast and unlike any UI I have experienced. I have not tried to install a gapps .zip as it seems not to work so I tried to install a Google Play Store .apk but for some reason it wont open, maybe some kind of restrictions. All other .apk's install and work fine. I synced my Gmail acct. all good, sycned my contacts (using .vcf file) and all good.
Lots of Chinese stuff I dont understand but I'm having fun just trying everything.
Overall for someone like me who uses my mobile for texting, calling and basic fun stuff this is a really good ROM with some serious eye candy.
If you want to try something really different give this a go.

I don't have much experience with the app but I know that the Dreamcast did not have any native widescreen games. Because of this the only way to get Widescreen to work is by stretching the image which I am assuming the option you enabled done. Sorry, I don't think there is any way around this.
I thought it odd that the Shield does not work, because in the widescreen JXD goes perfectly. Thank you very much for answering.

Widescreen works for me, but I had to download the latest compiled beta build here.
Here's how to install .apk files.
If games do not load:
1. Uninstall reicast
2. Download the apk behind the one you downloaded
3. Install it
Updates may break the app, so you have to do this.
Once you get reicast installed
1. Press the 3 Lines on the right
2. Go to the Path Tab
3. Set the paths of your roms and bios.
4. Go to Input Tab
5. Press Select by controller a and press a button on the nvidia shield controller
6. Go to Settings tab and Enable Widescreen mode
7. Go to Browser tab and try a game.
Widescreen mode was not available in the original dreamcast, so it is loading extra data not intended to show, so it may not look correct.
That's all. Reply if you have any trouble

We all know that we can add custom games to Geforce Experience in order to stream games to our Shields that are not officially supported by Nvidia. Last year, Nvidia added the ability to display Gamestream game shortcuts directly on our home screens. Unfortunately, for whatever reason, they did not carry this ability forward for custom games that have been added to Geforce Experience, but only to the officially supported ones. After a lot of digging around, here’s a way to circumvent this limitation. It’s important to note that this method bypasses the ‘Add Custom Games’ function in Geforce Experience, in order to have our games appear as officially supported ones. And now, a warning: this guide is long. It’s long because the process is long, but it’s also long because I’ve never been good at concisely explaining things. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

It’s fairly obvious what most of the tags inside this entry are for. The most important one, however, is the CMSID tag. This is the id number that Nvidia identifies your game with and uses to launch in GameStream. Also take note of the Files tag. In here you will find the files that Nvidia is looking for when scanning for new games.
I’ll also point out here that when you launch an officially supported GameStream game on your Shield, the shortcuts that are created on the homescreen are actual self contained apps.
The method of this guide is fairly straightforward:
1) We make an new entry in fingerprint.db with a custom CMSID, and fill out the rest of the information inside our entry to ensure that our game is detected and launched properly.
2) We extract one of the apks for the GameStream shortcut apps that are on our Shield’s homescreen, and copy this apk to our pcs.
3) We replace every instance of the old CMSID in the apk with our newly created CMSID, then recompile the apk and install it on our Shields.
Once this is done your newly installed shortcut app will launch your game as defined in the new entry you made in fingerprint.db. One thing to point out is that Geforce Experience overwrites fingerprint.db frequently (how frenquently, I don’t know.) I’ve changed this file to be read-only (via the security tab) on my system, which I hope will stop it from being overwritten. As a backup, I keep all of my custom entries in fingerprint.db backed up in a separate file, which I will simply append to the original database if the above method doesn’t work. (not sure how Window’s permission policies work.)
I’m not going to write a step-by-step guide here, but rather describe the game I’m launching and go from there. I like playing games on the WiiU emulator, Cemu, through GameStream. What I did here is create a shortcut in Steam to launch Mario Kart 8 directly in Cemu (if you have questions on how to do this, you can Google it.) I then used the option in Steam to make a desktop shortcut for this Steam shortcut, which creates a .url file that launches the game. Looking at this file’s properties shows that it runs the command: steam://rungameid/9898741384892907520. This is the command that I have GameStream launch. Note that your command will differ depending on what you are launching.

Adding this entry will cause GeforceExperience to add the game to GameStream as an officially supported title. However, It won’t do so right away. To get GeforceExperience to use our newly updated fingerprint.db, you can either end the correct nvcontainer.exe process in the Task Manager (there are a few) or just restart your computer. After this, scan for new titles in Geforce Experience and your new entry should be detected, and should appear on your Shield. Sometimes it takes a further restart of your PC for the game to finally appear on the Shield. It won’t, however, create a shortcut on your Shield’s homescreen. That’s the next step: making your custom apk.
I won’t explain all the different ways to extract apks from your Shield and so on. Here’s what I did:
1) Extracted the apk using Total Commander on my Shield.
2) Copied the apk to my desktop
3) Decompiled the apk using EasyApk (available on Xda-Developers)
4) Opened the AndroidManifest file and all the files in the res and smali folders in my code editor. I use Atom. Replaced all instances of the old CMSID with the new CMSID in all these files. (ctrl-f, find all, replace all.)
5) Replaced the banner and icon in the \res\mipmap-xhdpi-v4\ folder with new ones. You can also change the title of the app in strings.xml, as well as the color of the animation that is displayed when the app is launched in colors.xml. These are in \res\values\.
6) Recompiled the apk with EasyApk, and installed it on my Shield.
That’s basically it. The new apk will launch the game as defined in fingerprint.db, directly from the Shield’s homescreen.
Now, there are some drawbacks to using this method. One is that no poster and blurred background will be displayed on the screen as the GameStream stream loads. This can be solved, but only with root. Briefly, here’s how to solve it:
When GeforceExperience detects and adds a new game it creates an entry in the following file:

The important info here is the second Id Tag: 1475932352. Keep it in mind. Now, copying your poster image to tegrazone3’s cache folder, located here:

on to your Shield will allow the poster to be displayed when the game is loading (and also while inside the Nvidia Games app.) However, a couple of things first:
One is that you must copy this image after the Nvidia Games app decides to move all its images from whatever internal mechanism or database it uses to store them, to the cache folder. This shouldn’t take too long. 5 mins? 10 mins? No idea. However, one way to force it is to clear Nvidia Games cache and data in Android Settings so that it is rebuilt. About 10 minutes afterward you should be good to copy your posters into the cache folder. You’ll know that it is time when you are being asked to overwrite the old files in the cache folder (to which you will reply ‘yes’).
Here’s the other thing, your poster must be named like this: img_s2_g1475932352_t2_i0null. Notice the part in bold. This is the ID taken from journalBS.main.xml. Also notice: there is NO file extension.
And that’s about it! Be aware that the Nvidia Games app may overwrite these cached images at some point, such as when the cache is cleared in Android Settings. I keep all my files in another folder on the Shield to be quickly copied back if and when that happens. Also, this doesn’t break the game’s launching ability anyway, so it’s not such a big deal. I’ve thought about experimenting with the read/write permissions of these files like I did with fingerprint.db. Haven’t tried it yet but it’s a potential solution, and also a potential Nvidia Games crashing error.
I’ll also mention tegrazone3’s database files. I’m not sure what the cause-effect relationship is between these files and Geforce Experience. However, there is the potential to edit this database directly as an alternative to the above guide. I tried editing it with a sqlite editor on my pc and it caused all posters to appear blank in Nvidia Games. And since the above guide worked for my purposes I decided not to spend any more time on the matter.
And now, finally: IS THIS WORTH THE TROUBLE??? Probably not. Not for most people, anyway haha. I don’t play that many different games so doing the above for those handful of games wasn’t a huge deal. I also really hate having to go through the Nvidia Games app and seeing all that tegrazone grid streaming what-have-yous. I don’t use that stuff, and much much rather have everything I do use displayed on my homescreen. But if you have hundreds of games that you would like added to your Shield’s home screen, I’m sure you stopped reading long ago.
That’s it! Hope I didn’t forget anything.

I've never done any of this stuff before, and I was able to follow this guide and it seemingly worked perfectly! I do have one question about an issue I ran into, though. The game I made "gamestream ready" now defaults to mouse/keyboard controls versus shield controller controls. So now when I open the game, I have to hold the start button to make the "on screen controls" go away. Here is my custom fingerprint entry. I think all this actions can be described in the lua scripts for each title and running automatically after game detected.
I just bought an Echelon spin bike and it came with a Glory Star Nebula 21.5" (glorystartouch.com/product/Kiosk-Tablet/NEB-215) The specs are on that page. It runs android 7.1.2 and uses a kiosk lock ap called STAROS
I am able to get to the main program and sideload most anything.
Tap at the bottom right corner 5 times, password is either "0000" or "1085"
I've installed Nova Launcher which helps, but most apps I have installed need a newer version. I have not been able to get play store working yet as the google services is touchy.
I'm looking for a basic android experience. The native app works on all android devices so i can just install and run it when cycling and wanting to use their app.
Any help or ideas would be good.
Also, they have disabled the power button so I have to use a small ubs keyboard when i boot into the android recovery mode.

Takes you to a Zoho site with a knowledge base and some FAQ stuff.
There's some basic info in there, including how to upgrade the firmware to Android 7.1... Good place to start.
I'm going to try and mess with it later tonight after I get home.

So I've done some poking around here
As my hastily thrown together username implies, I'm new to android development so take that into consideration but my findings so far:
- There's no GFS ID associated to the device (at least after a factory reset) which will restrict you from the google play store
- ADB is not enabled but is accessible through the hidden developer settings
- If you brick your device trying to upgrade you'll likely need to contact glory star to flash it (with their own firmware) at a charge
- Overall community for this product is very quiet, haven't seen many discussions on the internet mentioning it at all
I'm going to keep looking into this but please keep the thread posted if you make progress!

Dev menu gone?
Same here, and i while I had messed around in the STAROS earlier in the month, the touching repeatedly on the settings screen appears to be gone. Does anyone know where they moved it or are we SOL?
Got Netflix installed on Echelon-5xs
I got Netflix installed on the nebula tablet with echelon 5xs bike.
Process is really simple:
1. Tap lower right corner of the screen five times and then put 1085 as the password;
2. Unlock the startos, with either 0000 or 1085 as the password and admin as the username;
3. Plugin a keyboard to the USB port, use win+b to open browser;
4. Open google and search for Netflix apk, and download the Netflix apk and install it;
5. Back to Staros app, and change the Staros mode to multiple apps mode, and change its settings by adding Netflix to the list in addition to EchelonFit;
6. Click “Launch Now” in Staros app, and now you get to a screen where you can select which app you want to run.
Another tip, press win+n to access drop down menu and system settings etc.

That is awesome, thanks for figuring this out! Do you think it is also impossible to install YouTube? Also, when you turn the bike on does it have the apps pop up first thing and u just select which one you want?

It is possible to have YouTube installed. I’ll give it a try later today. Right now I have Netflix and Amazon Prime video installed.
The tablet will boot into a screen showing icons of the app for you to choose. Holding the power button (red button besides volume control) until pop-up window asking whether you want to power off will lead you back to the screen with app icons, touch outside of the pop-up window to cancel power off will let you stay on that screen and give you a chance to select a different app.
Thanks again for checking to see if it would work out! That is so badass that you figured out how to do it!!! I should be getting my bike in the next couple of weeks and I will give it a try!

Just tried to install YouTube, no avail. YouTube requires google play store service and that requires the device to have a GSF ID. As one of the previous message in this thread, this tablet does not have that ID. I installed the “Device ID” app to confirm this. Further tweaking might be risky (possibly voiding the warranty).
Anyhow, if it’s just YouTube you want, you can just open browser and watch it there.
I also got inspired from a previous post in this thread to install the nova launcher, and choose that as my Home app, instead of starOS. So now I get more complete Android experience. There are third party apps which can takes care of updating apps, like Yalp.
(I’m an Android newbie, this is the first Android device I used primarily for something. I have several cheap Android phones with pay-as-you-go SIM cards left in cars as emergency backups.)
BTW, having access to the Android system settings had helped me setting up two Bluetooth speakers with this tablet. One is Amazon Echo Dot, the other is Bose mini 2. Both of them was not recognized inside the EchelonFit app, but once I got the paired via the Android OS settings, they were connected fine and recognized by EchelonFit. Echelon’s official FAQ suggests users to by a separate Bluetooth receiver if they couldn’t pair their speaker in this case. That’s just ridiculous. My impression so far with the company is they need to pay more attention to details, such as the user manual, app experience, website user portal etc. All needs improvement. The EX-5s does seem to be a quick product targeting peloton. Hope they will improve the software side of things over the years. So far I’m pleased with the hardware though.

has anyone tried installing the peloton app on their echelon? would love to be able to toggle back and forth between the two
I am doubtful that would work due to the way that the echelon bike transmits it’s serial number to the app. This has to be done before it will show rpms or resistance. I highly doubt that the echelon would communicate the correct parameters for peloton to accept it as a bike, if that makes since.

Hi Everyone.. I just recieved my bike last week. The Nebula tablet was not able to connect to the bike. After logging into the admin screen I see that bluetooth is disabled and I can't seem to enable it. Support has not answered me. Today i turned on the bike and now the wifi is disabled and it to will not enable now. Do any of you smart guys know how to get them back enabled?
Ptinga, I just got my bike today and tried to get into the menu by tapping 5 times in the bottom right to no avail. I restarted it and tapped at the bottom right in the bottom right white portion of the screen. I know this isn’t rocket science... I am trying to figure out where I am screwing up. Thanks in advance for all of your help!

I got everything figured out regarding using YouTube on the bike via a browser. I have tried watching 4K videos on different browsers but it constantly buffers. I am getting over 50 mbps on the bike so the connection is not the issue. Does anyone have any idea why it constantly buffers? Is it because there is limited memory in the tablet? The videos pause every 3-4 seconds to load.

Does Echelon broadcast power/cadence via any standard protocol (ANT+ or Bluetooth Smart), or does it go directly to its own App via the wire? Any info about such SDK in the latter case? Would like to make Apps for it.
Picked-up an EX5S and was able to get Netflix, D+ to work. HBO, YT required Google play services to be installed.
Using Lawnchair as home app. Might switch back to Nova if I can purchase direct access outside of Google Play and if it can resolve my issue below.
When I launch the Echelon Fit app , I don't have any other option to go back to my Home screen unless I go through the unlock process again. The home, back arrow icons aren't visible. When I launch Netflix, the back arrow works and allows me to exit the app, but the home icon does nothing.
Maybe I'm missing something?

I'm exploring the possibility of flashing this tablet with GAPPS so I can generate a GFS ID to access the PLAY store going forward.
Ordered a cellphone holder than I plan to mount under the monitor. This will allow me to use the Echelon app in Free Ride mode (to connect to the bike/track my cadence) while I'm logged into Peloton on the main screen and try to follow along with the class.

It's sent from the Bike via Bluetooth. The wire that runs through the bike simply provides power to the Tablet.
Would be great if there was an app that connected to the bike that you could then overlay over the Peloton app.
