i.e., can I drop another sim in when I travel internationally?

It is being reported that the Pixel 3 from Verizon and Best Buy are Sim locked to Verizon.

I am experiencing this issue right now:
Pixel 2XL on T-Mobile , Upgraded to Pixel 3XL that I ordered from Verizon thru my company
"SIM card isn't supported"
Verizon rep told me the phone is unlocked, I am about to call again.

I just got this notification on my Pixel 3 XL that I bought from Verizonwireless.com. I activated yesterday on VZW around 3:00PM EST.

You have to put a VZ SIM in it for 24 hours then it is SIM unlocked. New deal from VZ.

Unlocked now.

Mine unlocked in about 5 hours

Guys, if you factory reset (and remove any Verizon app from the device) do you need to 'unlock' it again or is this a one-time deal?

Now, the major question is if you buy from Verizon, will you still be able to unlock the bootloader. That would be one major drawback for anyone that wants to root if it does not allow you to unlock the bootloader after 24 hours.

The verizon versions in the past have all been locked bootloaders, that's why a lot of people made the push and sucked it up to buy directly from Google store.
The sim unlock is ****ty as it is because you think you're buying a sim unlocked phone from Bestbuy and turns out you have to run a vzw sim for 24hrs for the unlock to hit.

Only one
There is only one way to unlock the Exhibit 2 4g. You need a network unlock code from either T-Mobile or a company that has access to the keys. (I personally used cell-unlocker, but that is because they have ads everywhere.)
If you do go through T-Mobile for the unlock code, you need like to have $50 worth of credit with the account or show proof that you paid full RETAIL (mine wasn't covered because I bought it on Amazon from Samsung).
Thanks for your help , sent the phone that have more advanced tools that can calculate the codes and already unlocked it
want to add Arabic support to it just in reading websites and Facebook updates
Thanks again m8
did you use to unlock the phone?
Samsung Exhibit T679 unlocked successfully!!! thanks to Kachman
Hey guys!
Breaking news!
for many days I was desperately trying to unlock my Samsung Exhibit T679 model brought from USA (locked to T mobile). After seeing the posts in XDA forum, I had some hopes. I committed to donate for the unlock.
Chils41 helped me at first. But even he could not unlock the phone. He referred kachman (http://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=2018292) for the unlock . I donated him 10$ for the unlock. Just today, he has successfully unlocked my phone. It has just just less than a minute to unlock. He unlocks the phone remotely. Just we need to download two remotely connecting programs.
Kachman! Thanks very much.
Great topic mate!

Help!!!! Please!

So, I just bought a galaxy nexus UK international unlocked version. It has 5 pins on the sim reader and only reads Simple Mobile sims, doesnt read Straight Talk, AT&T and T-Mobile. When the seller called the Play Store, they claimed the nexus only has 5 pins. Could you please post pics of your sim slots? Thanks
I am the seller and got two different answers. The first person I spoke to said it only had 5 and said they would send a user manual that showed that. When I didn't receive the manual, I called back. The second person I spoke to said he would take a picture and send it to me. Here it is.

Your phone should read every sim card you have.

Bought mine from an importer, a Canadian version technically. It has the same pin layout as the picture above.

Considering that SIM connections/slots are standard and the European unlocked GSM Galaxy Nexus are identical to the Google Play Galaxy Nexus in terms of hardware there should be no reason why they shouldn't read the same SIMs.

[SCAMMED] I think I was just scammed by unlockriver.com

Tried to unlock my phone from unlockriver.com (I did it before). However, I am on unlocked firmware and I was expecting an unlock code. However, instead I just got instructions telling me how to use the T-Mobile unlock app. I paid $45 for instructions on how to use something that will not work considering I have not had the phone long enough.

EDIT: To even use the T-Mobile unlock app I will need to revert back to T-Mobile firmware and then use the app. The device T-Mobile variant shouldn't even be listed on their site as it is just a scam.

Remember: * if we can’t unlock your phone, you will get your money back.
get your money back. there is no need to unlock the HTC sim card I'm pretty sure. if your trying to get unlocked bootloader go here http://htcdev.com/ if your trying to get s-off also go here http://theroot.ninja/
Isn't there a law (at least in the US) that carriers have to unlock their phones for free so long as there isn't any payment due on the device?

Carrier name display as Samsung

I have a note 10 Plus unlock and instead of seeing my carrier name like AT&T, Sprint, Verizon or T-Mobile, it display Samsung. Why is it not showing my carrier name Sprint. You can see it on preferences, about phone, status, sim card status, network, Samsung. You can see under Brand Samsung. Also on lock screen top left says Samsung instead of Sprint.

I don't know how to change it, but you can hide it with 'quickstar' pluggin for Good Lock.
Thank you, but anybody has any idea why is it displaying Samsung as my network operator instead of Sprint
I surely would like to see "samsung"instead of my carrier name!

No idea, but interested in learning the reason! I'm also with Sprint, and seeing Samsung would be nice for a change

S20 Ultra on Android 10 won't update.

Recently I bought an s20 ultra from Ebay and I can't get it to upgrade. It says the operating system is up to date. I know I can do it manually if necessary. My question is why can't it do it automatically?

Is it AT&T locked or that (ATT) is just a coincidence? Maybe it really is the latest version for AT&T locked devices.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, it's locked to AT&T and I have checked on sammobile and there doesn't seem to be an update available for my specific model number but for the SM-G988U1 there are, also for other model numbers of the S20 Ultra, why would mine be left out, do you have any ideas?

Because your mobile carrier can't be arsed to validate the update and distribute to its locked devices. I've heard a lot of grief over the years over locked devices and updates and being unable to tinker with the phone because the bootloaders are all locked.

Thanks I guess the best thing to do would be to have it unlocked and then hope it gets updated. or do it manually.
