Android 9 Pie features in Nokia 6.1 - Nokia 6.1 (2018) Questions & Answers

From the Android 9 and the latest of the phone's duration of the last 24 hours is the power of the port of the Wi-Fi, the stability of the Internet, and the special stability of the Internet, there is also another property, the power of the electrode and stability, the other great attitude is the battery has become more than and not denoting the power when the phone closes. Three really properly thank Nokia's company to improve the update, but the problem is as a problem with the squad is very slow and is not enough as soon as suggests from the Nokia Send a reservation of the repair of the problem. Are you of you to give you a reth of the update if there is something to forget .

[Q] Is it recommendable to buy a HOX now?

I'm worried about the issues plaguing the device, have the updates and latest software fixed some of the issues? Overheating, screen ripples, draining battery etc?
those production issues have been fixed more than a month ago, if u like the phone, jump on without aby fears, ull love it here
overheating is within acceptable range eith custom kernels, and future releases by nvidia and htc are bound to solve this issue further
battery life has been quite good too, but this is suvjective and depends on ur usage

I'm getting a second hand one with full warranty that's been used for the past three months and this is probably one of the first few batches out of the gate so I'm just being careful What about lag and the multi tasking issue? Did HTC fix that or are they still forcing us to accept reloading pages as a new standard for conserving ram and battery?
I haven't used an HTC phone for quite some time now and although Samsung has been really really nice, it's not as satisfying as owning an HTC

that is a sense issue. currently, all non sense roms dont hace that issue.hopefully, htc will push the new release out with a multitask fix, as they already fixed the live wallpaper issue.
lag is nonexistant on roms, really, blazing fast, i have never seen sense this fast, all due to the viper rom and the faux experimental oc kernel.
all problems are pretty much fixed in roms, and hopefully, htc will step up their game asap and release their 404 update. its been confirmed to drop in the following 2 weeks

Thank you. One last thing, is the wifi problem related to hardware or just software? I'm referring to the one wherein you press the upper right hand corner of the screen and the wifi signal gets stronger.
You mentioned all problems being fixed on custom roms, what about stock roms?

hardware. and its not really a bad thing too, cant understand why people stress over it. stock currently has pretty good battery life, its just the three dot menu that needs a fix.the very soon to be released 404 update will resolve all that and bring a lot more enhancements to the table.

I agree with KLUVJ that this phone is really good except of that one issue i have with push email on the sense email client. However if you do use the gmail app or any other 3rd party app like maildroid, i think you are fine.
I find that the phone overheat a little more than the iphone but within acceptable range. Tried viper rom yesterday and i was amazed! the amount of settings you could do to tweak the phone is just unbelievable.
Hope you can join the group here!

Regarding the wifi issue, are there phones with no problems? I've been reading up and it seems that HTC is accepting units for repair if you do have this issue, correct?
Lastly, what's the real deal with the battery life? I've read through a gazillion posts with some claiming it sucks and is below the gs3, others are praising it and saying it can beat the iphone 4 and 4s which I say is almost impossible for android. GSMarena rates the battery life of the hox 6 hrs below the GS3 with video playback at a paltry 6hrs only

I got mine the same way, and it's fine.
It had the wifi "grip of life" issue and a duff speaker, but I got it repaired by HTC and all is well now.

There are phones with no problems. But excessive checking for the problem i.e pushing the part between volume and cam with force again and again can actually create the problem. Yes htc is accepting units for repair.
Battery life opinion will be as different as genetic code lol. Here's mine.
Some custom roms give even better battery life than others. My phone lasts a day on full charge with me having made about 30 minutes of calls, lots of whatsapp messages, web-browsing, tweeting, etc.
I get an average of 2 hours 50 minutes of screen on time.
Say you don't touch the phone for 7-8 hours maybe your sleeping or whatever, the battery would have drained only about 2-3%. That's with data/wifi and cell reception on. Incredible Standby Time.
When you do use the phone the battery flies away like crazy . I have to fully charge my phone once a day.
what about the latest batches HT26 and SH27. what is the probability of those models to be defective (hardware issue).
Honestly, if you think we are having issues, you best check out the SGS3 forums lol.
Dude i got my HOX the day it became available in my country, i was well aware of the potential issues and luckily i got a defect free unit.
I used it as a stock device for about 2 weeks and was very impressed with battery life and overall smoothness, honestly you dont need to root a HOX to get the best out of the device, it holds its own pretty well.
I rooted because I am used to the luxury of Titanium Backup, Super User apps that I have purchased and because i dont like to wait for OS updates lol.
Why wait on a carrirer when i know how to do it myself and what Team PkmN was doing with charmeleon ROM was waaaay to tempting to just sit and watch from the side lines and miss out on the action lol, truth be told that ROM was the main reason i took the plunge.
I consider myself a power user and would recommend ViperX and Faux 005 beta 1 kernel, that is if your going to root.
Thank you for the input everyone I appreciate it. I do hope I get one without issues

[Q] Google now launcher vs Zen Ui battery drain?

What's up folks. When I typically get a new phone I switch to GNL because I like the interface. On the other hand, zen UI is not terrible at all. I have ZE551ML..great phone all around up there with the best, but the battery drain is significant..can it be that I'm using the google launcher and zen UI is still using system resources? What have you guys done to optimize battery life? Should I go back to Zen UI? Thanks in advance for the input.

I can already guess you have the 4GB model, but regardless you're not the only one experiencing the rapid battery drain as it's a recognized issue amongst us. This is definitely not necessarily the phone's hardware at fault alone, but most likely the android 5.0 software itself is unstable (the memory leak bug) and is desperately in need of an OTA update to a later version. You can join the discussion about it in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3004268
Unfortunately, there is no immediate remedy for this with especially the 4GB model and it's even harder to rectify since we don't have a solid rooting method as yet. All we can do is wait and try whatever possible to reduce the drain until Asus can at least send another patch update to optimize the battery consumption.

No problem, I hope so too and good luck. Also, I'm pretty sure that the Taiwanese peeps have already reported the issue, unless it's only a Worldwide model problem.

has anyone tried a solo launcher? i installed it..like it for now for it has alot of swiping gesture that benefits the phone..anyone tried it?

Wifi not shutting down

Hi,
on Android 6 Stock Rom.
Wifi is set to be disabled when the tablet it is idle., however it always stays on and connected.
Anyone else experiencing it
Thanks
Yes, same **** here. Wifi not turning off with that setting and showing high battery drain. Lots of same issues on N5 I read. Flashed 6.0 with wipe last weekend myself. Battery idle drains 2-3% an hour. Everything else like Location incl.scanning off too. Even wirh airplane mode on the drain btw. Where the **** is Doze and App Standby? I just so had it with the Android bugs every time. If many Android apps indeed get ported to Win10 I will try a cheap Win10 from under 100,- for a month to see if worth jumping ship to more expensive Win10 device. I am again just so fed up with the Android bugs every time, also on Nexus. How f-ing difficult can it be compared to a computer OS to make less buggy Android device firmware. Also have an iPhone 5s and iPad Mini 2 but hate iOS. And I hate non-stock Android too btw. Really pissed off right now.

This is the mentality of Google nowaday. Throw anything at Android users and users don't have any option. Not sure what testing Google go before releasing any new Android release with so called high profile engineers they have.
One should file class action A suite against Google for wasting so much energy resource due to this battery drain issue faced by Android 6.0 users.
Surprisingly even high profile Android review sites are also keeping mum on this issue by not even reporting this.

Is March Update out ?

Updates usually come on 5th of each month(-ish),
We currently need an update urgently;
focus in camera, battery life , call quality, dt2w, and several other known bugs need to be fixed, I really hope there's a March update that's released this week. If it exists and is out in your region, which country are you in? and do you notice anything different about the system?
PS: Devs pls enable Camera 2 API, thank u.

Pixels usually get em on the 5th each month, Android One devices get them some days later, usually around the 14th or even at the end of month.
Camera 2 API probably will never be enabled by Xiaomi, they want to sell their higher priced models which have enabled it by default. And it's
a matter of seconds to enable it by yourself with root/temporary root.
btw: Battery life is excellent on my side, same like with Oreo. 3-4 days per charge with around 8-9h SOT.
Mid-March as usually like in Feb Patch.
Update is out ,I haven't received it yet, let's hope it fix some issues, mostly the battery drain, 9 hours with oteo and 5 with pie for me...
Due to the low cost of this phone, I have absolutely no expectations that:
1. Updates will arrive on time, even though it's an Android One phone.
2. Bugs that aren't critical to its daily usage will get fixed, even small annoyances.
3. Any non-critical visual fixes will be done.
4. Anything beneficial from 8.1 will come back.
I'm not mad either, this has been a great phone, especially for $159. It punches way above its price point. Now with my Sony a6500 I can just connect to its hotspot anywhere and download RAW images that blow the Pixel 3 out of the water.
Anyway, no update on west coast USA as of 07:44AM.
hey buddies, is it normal that in my a 2 lite after 5 months battery life after 4 hours SoT he has capacity 38% ? i'm bit worried that's why i'm asking
It's fault of Android Pie, if you rollback to Oreo you will have 9 hours SoT again, but for me some Bluetooth devices are not working properly..

I get 10-11hr SOT with the latest Pie update. It's not the fault of Pie.
I am convinced that there are various hardware revisions of this phone, in this sub forum there are hundreds of different experiences about practically every aspect.

I wonder if it's people who have modified their phones in a root/bootloader at all? Mine is 100% stock, haven't tried anything regarding rooting, bootloaders, nothing at all.

i used to root/ unlock / modify every phone i had since 2008, with this one i leaved everything to stock to avoid problems, and i'm having a user experience totally different from yours, and i'm not the only one! you are a lucky guy, i've nothing else to say.
If this update isn't gonna fix the problems i've encountered i'm gonna sell it, even underpriced.

Do you play games on your phone throughout the day? Are you using heavy animations with a launcher? Do you use social media apps on your phone?
I watch YouTube, use Signal, Slack, Firefox for Reddit & Twitter and average 10-11hr SOT. No social media apps otherwise. Not a gamer really and nothing I do takes major resources. Pokemon Go is the most resource heavy thing I do and if I keep that on I can go 5-6 hours SOT, though I don't play often especially during colder seasons in the northern hemisphere.
I really wish VoLTE & WiFi calling worked, otherwise this phone has taken over my Pixel without any real downsides except USB-C and Band 12. Camera is beyond acceptable for $179, though now I personally just carry around my Sony A6500 and link it in seconds to transfer way higher quality pictures between. I know that's not possible for a lot of people, but the stock camera is very acceptable.
I have another one sitting in my desk brand new I might turn into a development phone.
Let me know if you sell it, I might be interested.
Still no March update in USA.
I play Candy crush maybe 30 minutes a day, and I don't have social apps installed. I'm embittered because I'm using the phone the same way I did since I bought it, after the pie update my SoT was reduced by 30%, and I can confirm it because I tried a rollback to Oreo that solved this issue (and the one with some aes protected wifi), but I had problems with Bluetooth.

Question Black shark 4 pro long term user review anyone?

Hey guys, I'd like to know the long term review of BLACK SHARK 4PRO and 5PRO. What are the problems faced and mainly how is the battery life. As I confused which one to buy?
And how frequent is the software updates and does it solve problems or just leaves bugs?

I'm using BS4Pro [CN ROM 16/512GB]
Pros::-
System:
* Faster & Stable System
- Frequent update for system patches
- System consumes almost 4.5GB RAM [no appz] & 6.0 GB [with appz]
Software:
- G-apps are working
* MIUI Battery Optimization
- Second space feature and more
- Security & permission in-depth per app
* Dynamic Theme feature/battery are well-optimized
Hardware:
* Well-optimized gaming & emulation
* RL triggers are programmable
* Clean/quality sound speaker
* 3.5mm Jack Audio port
* OTG USB/SSD
* HDMI-Out (Cable/Docking)
* Fastest Transferbit (R/W 2.9/2.1GB)
* Fast Response Finger-Unlocking
- 64MB-shot camera quality is acceptable.
* Document-shot (A4 page) is accurate edge compared to galaxy note.
Battery:
* Fastest charger (within 17min) with auto-discharge feature
* Well-optimized per appz. (Xiaomi feature)
Cons ::-
System:
Up to Android 11/Joy 12.8
[so far, No Android 12, unlike OnePlus/Huawei/samsung]
Software:
- No full-ROM update
- No full-ROM available officially to download
- No BL unlock feature permission yet
- No root dev support
- 16GB/512GB [still in CN language for recovery mode]
Hardware:
- Lighting-effect feature is average looking & battery consumable.
Battery:
- Too much heat (49C) during hyper-charge 120W [for 17min only, then it gradually drop-out].
Final score.
85/100 [due to no root & Official frequent full-ROM to download]
Thank you so much for your wonderful detail reply KSBWINGS. Really appreciate it. How long have you been using it? And I so wish they had 512gb for international version as well.
One thing that I have noticed is that ANDROID software updates on Gaming phones are very slow. As at the moment I am using ASUS ROG 1 which is still on Android 9. But the system is stable, I hardly recall when I got the security or any update last time. But still the games and apps are working fine.

I'm using it for 1yr for now.
FYI, android's new version is RAM-demand [Let's say 700MB-1GB to occupied]... & cheapest gaming phone starts from 8GB (which is not enough after 4 months of usage). However, the manufacturer is supposed to provide a Full ROM update for gaming phones with higher RAM such 12/16Gb as a feature, which is also good for their business income, I presume.
As for the slowness on phone generally, whether you are using ROG/BS/RM .. etc. You need to tweak your permission per app & battery optimization to preserve some free RAM if Andriod 9 allows it. Otherwise, better to root an older phone, to get complete control of your setting and remove bloatware / autostart / permission per app.
Thank you for your reply. Yes what you said is true. And that's a nice long time you have been using. How the battery life in general use?

Battery is fine, just tweak and optimize your setting as you like.
Battery lasts less than 1 day [Manufacture default setting/144Hz/ ... etcs].
Battery lasts less than 7hr [Heavy gaming].
Battery lasts 1-2 days, [60Hz/tweaking MIUI battery optimization/Permission per app].
Thanks a ton bro. Now lastly as a user suggestion. I am looking out for BS 5PRO as well. Or should I just save fee bucks and go for BS 4PRO. I am aware of all the differences between CPU, GPU, camera, audio jack and the software versions etc

It's your choice. If you are able to pay the difference buck without effecting your life responsibility, Just Go for the newer version. Otherwise, stuck to pervious version .... since the difference in spec are NOT that major/fancy even with "CPU/Camera". Causally , few months later you will hear also company release 5s ... all those fancy names . It never end. Just look for your needs
&& Best of luck with your choice. ENJOY
Alright brother, I noted that. Thank you so much once again
Hi there,sorry for this late reply but i wanna know what phone did you end up with? and what are your experiences using it?
at this stage i would not recommend black shark family, shark 4 has had no security updates in a year now
