Optimal battery life w Liquid Smooth [guide]

My current recommendations for optimal battery life are as follows: 3.8.0 exp 1 (Lean Kernel)(imoseyon)
this started as an IRC question & i decided i'd like to have something as a reference for those who'd like to maximize battery life with their respective setups. Feel free to post some screen shots of your battery life to show others your sucess!
battery 101 - cut the services (not in use) off !
How to configure Lean Kernel for optimal battery and secondly performance
Please download / flash your mods ROM / kernel / also flash lean tweaks (jakebites)
inside Lean Tweaks:
`enable 'File system speedup' (aka mount disc noatime)
`enable zram
`enable SD card speedup (set to base 2048)
this will all take effect once you reboot (it uses init.d scripts which require a reboot)
`Go to kernel menu > set customer vibration value > set vibration (/haptic) to 1000
install franco.kernel.apk
https://play.google....m.franco.kernel
go straight to system settings > more > *tick* NFC on [off]
next, disable logcats: liquid control > prop modder > *tick* disable logcats (also within franco.kernel.apk *tick* turn off logger)
liquid control > general > *tick* boot animation on [off] ; android bugmailer *tick* on [off] ; Check in service on [off] *tick*
best to manually toggle 3G / SYNC / LTE / GPS / bluetooth (obviously) as they are not in use - these are some of the biggest battery thieves unless you wantto use powersaver;
Power saver optimal settings:
~powermode: power saver / default
~by request (thanks terryrook) here are some preferred powersaver settings (top to bottom)
*tick* enable powersaver [on] off
Screen off action: *tick* [data off]
data action delay: [10 mins] (should be tailored to your preference (this is a great baseline)
Sync action:[ Autosync Off (delayed)]
Time Interval: [12 hrs] (i prefer this / + syncing each time i want my mail etc)
Screen-off Wifi action: [untouched]
Sync data usage: [Prefer Wifi]
Sync mobile data preferences: Prefer 3G
Not only do I use franco.Kernel apk for access to Franco's latest releases, I also use it for functionalities:
Sqlite defrag on boot,
Disable logger
Set max freq for s/o
Etc!
set your brightness with the slider to your liking - i stay in the area of 50%. Display = #1 battery hog
~Governor InteractiveX (interactive for additional stability)
~Max freq: 1650 (highest stable freq for your device) ( my thinking is the quicker the info is processed, the less processing time)(works for me) (you may want to experiment with this!)
~Min freq: 350 (as franco once said, less disatance between min / max = less time spent switching frequencies)
default IO sechduler
lastly for now, remmeber that your GPU settings will greatly affect batery life! i keep my gpu at 307 unless i dgaf about battery at time (for LK inside terminal simply type $su [enter]; $oc gpu 0 [enter]
if you're using set on boot, make certain that you have (lets say feature A) feature A set on boot for instance within either franco.Kernel.apk OR leantweaks. if you have feature A set on boot in both franco.Kernel & leantweaks, you will end up negating any battery benefits.. bc the system expending energy uselessly

First off I'd like to say ur rom is sick fast and i haven't had 1 reboot or issue since applying it on my verizon nexus. I also get great battery life now. 4-5 hrs screen time and 15 hrs total. Here's kind of a noob question though. I've rooted my android phones in the past.... g1, my touch my touch 3g, and my touch slide. All I really did was flash roms backup tweaks n stuff like that. What and how exactly do u mess with the kernal? Isn't the Franco kernal in liquid 1.4 already? Or are you saying buy the app on the market to keep it updated? Thanks for your help

[ROM][CM10][Sep05-Build6] Domination - Taking Cyanogenmod to the next level

Why is this ROM "taking CyanogenMod to the next level?
CyanogenMod does not want to include many customizations like they did in cm7
But why not? We want to customize our phones!
This ROM adds more options and cherries to CyanogenMod, cherry picked from the CM gerrit, Google gerrit, AOKP gerrit, many github pages that are around or made by me
This ROM also includes a lot of experimental changes like many NEON optimized code sets, better libraries like jpeg-turbo and tweaked surface flinger, skia and many more
Want to turn the recent panel in to an app killer?
Just press the kill-all button!
You want to reboot but don't wait to long?
Just execute a hot reboot this is 50% - 70% faster then a normal reboot
Hate the stupid useless overflow menu button (onscreen menu button)?
Also got an option for that just hide it!
In Android you can swipe from the top of the screen downwards to expands the status bar
Why only from the top of the screen?
In this ROM you can define actions for
Swiping top edge
Swiping left edge
Swiping right edge
Swiping bottom edge
for example if you want the hide the status bar you can simply define a swipe action for it to an edge you like
And there is a lot more in this ROM!
Stock but still highly customizable the way we like it
Issues:
- WiFi direct doesnt work
- MHL output is rotated incorrectly to portrait in horizontal mode (but workaround is added for hw decoded videos/youtube. Use bsplayer from playstore, almost all videos play with it in correct rotation in hwoverlay)
Instructions:
Download all the needed files (ROM, Gapps, kernel (only if you'd wish to use a different one then the stock kernel))
Extract the boot.img from the ROM.zip or the kernel.zip you'd download
Reboot to phone to bootloader mode (the white HBOOT screen where you can use fastboot)
Choose fastboot
Flash the kernel
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot erase cache
Boot into recovery
Flash the ROM.zip
Flash Gapps
Optional! Flash the kernel.zip (only needed if you did flash a different kernel then the one included in the ROM.zip)
ROM:
Download portal
Gapps:
http://owain.hopto.org/gapps-jb-20120716.zip
Kernels: (modules need to be download from their own thread)
http://owain.hopto.org/?dir=HTC One X/Domination jelly/Kernel
Wipe all (but data when you come from earlier CM10 Domination)
Flash boot.img for your kernel
Flash Rom
Flash gapps
Flash kernel modules
Boot, configure and enjoy!

Franco R16
+very smooth ; very good performance ; stable ; above average battery life
- BT pairing issue ; volume wake is flaky ;
———————————————————————————————————————————————–
Eternity 0.61 regular
+super smooth ; really top notch,awesome performance ; BT working;stable;
-volume wake flaky ; huge battery drainer, in standby as in use ; worst battery of all tested kernels ; sometimes screen needs up to 3 seconds till its on
Eternity 0.61 OC
sorry, couldnt get it to work stable, maybe unlucky, but speed seemes amazing for the short time i could use it
————————————————————————————————————————————————
Faux 7m
+good performance ; good battery life ; stable
-BT pairing issue ; volume wake flaky ; almost constant microloags(but this is critic on a very high scale, still way better than every ICS Sense roms performance)
Faux 7u
+awesome performance but similar microlags like m but at bit less noticable ; good battery life in relation to speed ; stable
-BT pairing issue ; volume wake flaky ; microlags
————————————————————————————————————————————————-
TripNDroid 011A
+BT working;volume wake fixed and working(trip created the fix,so all thx to him for that)
-worst performance of all tested kernels with a noticable gap ; lots of microlags, much more noticable than on faux
have to mention i finished the test early because of the poor performance and lags so cant say anything about battery life and the rest
————————————————————————————————————————————————–
NCX 0.99b noOC (volume wake fix not officialy included yet,but worked fine on my test kernel)
+good performance ; by way best battery life of all tested kernels ; BT working ; volume wake fixed and working(again thx to trip) ; stable
-not top notch perfomance but battery life was priority of this anyways and its about on par with faux 7m but with better battery life
NCX 0.99b OC
+awesome perfomance ; BT working, stable ; superb battery life in relation to speed ; stable
-volume wake fix not yet included(but should be done soon, very soon)
—————————————————————————————————————————————————
Summary
Perfomance King
In terms of perfomance i couldnt really decide a winner.
Place 1 goes to Eternity regular and ncx 0.99b OC,eternity was slightly smoother,in fact the smoothest of all but had some rare bigger lags, but nothing really even worth noticable.
ncx was therefore a bit more constant in fluidity getting very very close to the smoothness of eternity. Also gaming perfomance was slightly better.
Its a preference things which to favor, eternity reached a level of fluidity i havent seen this way on others, dont know how to describe it.
Faux 7u would have come very close and if it didnt those microlags mentioned before it would be a tie between the 3 of them.
Faux7m/Franco R16/ncx 0.99b noOC make a very respectable 3rd place, they are to much on par to decide, maybe Franco but only every so slightly
Sadly i have to say Trips kernel is the last one here, had high expectation because of his reputation but it just couldnt hold up against the rest. But Trip is very progressive and his kernel is completly build up from ground without any code from HTC,thats something we have to highly respect and appreciate and he also created many fixed for several bugs.
Battery king
clear winner without any doubt is ncx 0.99b noOC,by far the best results in every aspect
ncx 0.99b OC needs to be mentioned here because it can even outperform others in terms of battery life but still being the fastest also.
Faux 7m is very close in terms maybe a hint better but cant reach nowhere near the perfomance of ncx.
Franco´s as mentioned was above average but not as good as the winners here
Clear looser here is sadly one of the performance kings, eternity, battery life was horrible, especially standby drain but it wasnt really any better in usage. Its a shame ,if kholk would have got it close or on par with ncx in terms of battery this would have been a real awesome 1:1 battle for the title.
Overall King of Kings
The title goes fair and sqaure to ncx 0.99b OC
Best performance but still mentaining superb battery life made the win here.
This kernel is just a joy to use
2nd overall would be faux 7u but battery life cant compete with the winner.
3rd , a tie between Franco R16 and ncx 0.99b nopOC,Franco with slightly better perfomance and ncx with best battery life but still very good performance and has the least bugs(one of two kernels with fixed volume wake)

Cheers Owain, looking forward to taking this one for a spin.. been using your roms since rooting my 1x originally so looking forward to some JB goodness (if its owt like me nexus 7 I'll be well chuffed )
Will report back later on any issues...
Sounds like a good ROM... is there any chance of some screenshots?
I wish I could click Thanks a million times. This is such a good rom. Feature packed from build 1. Awesome battery so far with faux kernel. Looking forward to future builds. If you need a tester, I'm there.

Just going through initial setup, hopefully it'll be good
EDIT: Initial Google account sync is taking a LONG time compared to other ROMs but I think it's a WiFi issue in the office. Bit annoying, though!
Finally up and running - found an issue. 24hr clock doesn't display properly (see attached - taken at 14:00 BST)
EDIT: Ignore me, was a setting that I didn't know I had to change!

Lol, I had just made the exact same post as you with images and everything!
Those that don't know the setting to change it til Owain updates is:
Settings -> System -> Status Bar -> AM/PM style -> Regular AM/PM
Looking good so far Owain, no time to test properly though due to being at work (wireless signal appears to be a little lower but I read that it's a cosmetic thing with the JB roms in general so far compared to ICS)
Apart from on the lockscreen how is 'google now' accessed? (no biggie as I don't use it that often on my nexus 7 but I am interested to know, don't appear to be able to swipe up from the home hardware button to activate it)
Thanks, will update more if I find more wrong
edit:
Wow, just enabled hybrid bar for 10seconds, loving how it looks and look forward to seeing the progress on it! (on top option would rule but please, don't concern yourself with that, get the basic issues sorted out before listening to me!)
edit2:
Ahhhhh! long pressing the app switcher button now launches the search dialogue which is google now (short press is menu)
edit3:
final edit for good measure... THIS IS AMAZINGLY SMOOOOTTHHHH!!!!! BRILLIANT!
edit4:
Ah.. ok.. I broke something somehow, I can no longer access recent apps by holding down the home key (I am pretty sure it worked initially before I started playing about) - Recent apps switcher is still set within the hardware keys settings section but not doing anything it appears
I noticed just one issue so far, the camera won't focus on anything.

Lol don't take so much tension of turning on and off things
Just see my signature to actually increase battery life along with performance ... I get an easy 3day battery and goes through 1½ days on a holiday and about 7-8 hours on continuous 2g browsing and 5-6 hours on 3g browsing ... this is wayy beyond of wat the device was said to by Samsung ... and all this with good performance ... see my sign

Someone who has the same taste as mine. Id like the stock rom retained plus a custom kernel to save my battery.
2-3 days max would be already enough for me since I dont really play games that much.
Youre a kabayan? Why u not showing up at the filipino thread for SGY?
Thanks bro. Imma try hells fusion.

Battery Accelerated Drainage
Hi,
I have S2 Plus running android 4.2.2. It has a very nice battery life when used for calls and sms.
My problem is that I experience a massive battery drainage even after turning off the WiFi.
It seems that something keeps on and never shuts down.
Does anyone have experience with the cause/resolution for this?
I appreciate your help.
Murad.

By downloading and flashing InsertCoin Custom ROM for HTC 10 you agree to the following:
Your warranty is now void.
We are NOT responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards, thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if you point the finger at us for messing up your device, we will laugh at you.
Support is limited. We do this as a hobby in our free time. We'll do our best to help you if you state your problem in clear English, with as much information as you can (what mods you selected, have you wiped, when exactly does the error occur, what type of phone you have (ul, l , ws etc.), what carrier, logcat and so on. The more information you offer, easier for us to help you. If you do not ask for support in clear English and with no information what-so-ever we will ignore your issue!
Leave the self entitled customer attitude at the door. We are under NO obligation what-so-ever to do anything for you. If we do it is because we like helping people. Using custom work published on XDA is not a right, it is a privilege. If you think otherwise please read here. Or watch this video.
NO Requests! When we work on InsertCoin we have in mind that we have to satisfy all users to a decent level. What works for us might not work for you and vice versa . We are not your personal ROM developers and it is not our job nor our intention to make everybody happy.
Do not come here asking "Hey mate, X rom has that awesome feature and if you don't implement it in your rom, I'll <insert whatever here>!" You flashed this ROM because you liked it at some point, if that change please stop using it.
Suggestions for improvements are always welcomed. As long as they are well documented and as long as you understand that NOT everything is possible.
NO ETAs! While we do our best to constantly work on the ROM to improve, *fix and add new features, again this is a hobby! There are periods when due real-life issues we can't spend too much time for InsertCoin! If this becomes an obligation passion fades and we might stop cooking the ROM

Nice to see you here @baadnewz, another iconic HTC dev.
I flashed you rom and everything seemed to work just fine during preliminary setup....
I just can't take the ads in the tweaks app. Relentless full page ads are a little much.
Thanks for your work though.

Nice!! I'll download and test it out.
Ill give it a shot. Thanks
Great! Another tom to try.
How's the camera? Notice any shutter lag?
Always nice to try a new rom. I installed the 1st build last night so I haven't tried the latest one yet. Pretty nice, gets a bit warmer I find and man does battery life take a major hit. I went from averaging between 3 1/2-4 1/2 SOT on LOS to struggling to get 2 hours.

That's why I have also taken a distance from PA, because I have not had a good experience. But Yank really did a good job and it's the only Rom that's up to date. I'll see if I can minimize the battery consumption. Thank you for your feedback.

I'm on the second build with your kernel now, after applying Glassfish 1.2 profile in ex kernel and making some other doze adjustments it seems to be a bit better but still not amazing. I do find that my wifi connection is the strongest is been from any rom I've tried on this phone which is nice. What rom are you currently using?
Thanks for this new ROM based under paranoid ...its more updated than original....is there a way to get Oreo ROM for robin ?

I am currently using OmniRom with Unicornblood Kernel. But I never use a Rom for more than a week. I'm just as flashaholic as most people here. And I find out so little by little how things work and I'm constantly testing new things.
Thank you for your feedback. I am glad about every comment. There is not much going on here.

I'm surprised about battery, PA's been a bliss on the OP3t (4-5 SOT is easy to hit, best run was 9+h SOT over a 15h day with still 12% left and all all, 4G, WiFi, BT, high precision GPS...), angler and bullhead at least.
So it shouldn't be the ROM, but rather the device/kernel stuff. If LOS is a lot better, might be worth trying to redo device tree based on theirs.

Yeah I know what you mean, I think the longest I've lasted on a single room is maybe a couple of weeks.
Do you notice a difference between omni with your kernel versus without? I enjoyed using omni when I tested it out but I also had some pretty bad SOT.

You should subscribe to the OmniRom and the CarbonRom thread. I think these are the only real developers here that could do that.

Yes, I know it's not ROM. I also use YAOSP on my bullhead. I also thought about using DU or LOS device tree. I wanted to look at the first builds first how it goes. Thank you very much for your hint. I was very proud when I saw that you had noticed my thread.

I use the combination only for one and a half days now. That's why it's difficult to say. But I think it makes no big difference with the default kernel settings. But you have a lot more options with the kernel.
24 hours with this ROM and everything is running great: Wifi, GPS, FPS, audio are all fine. I haven't noticed any abnormal battery drain but I run without Gapps, only setting K9 and Telegram to not optimize battery so they get notifications.
