Landscape on home screen - Huawei Mate 20 X Questions & Answers

Is there somewhere else I need to check to rotate the home screen? Apps and phone manager rotate fine.

You need a 3rd party app to make that happen, normally you swipe down to bring the notification screen, then tap and hold the gear until it spins and then it goes off the right side of the screen, at this point it would normally go to setting and then see the system ui tuner in the menu, but Huawei has removed this and you have to download "Activity Launcher", but I dont think this works anymore as it stopped working on my HN8 after it updated to 8.0. But those are the two ways to make it work.

Thanks AngleDeath, I had it with stock L on my M10P, hopefully they will bring it to this to the big screen. I stay in landscape 90% of the time. Hate flipping back and forth.

@cccmachin Try the attached file, unzip and install, it can change the orientation of the screen. Been using it for years, plain and simple, nothing fancy.

install Screen Orientation from app store and you can manual/auto change to any direction that you want on any app

Confirmed it doesnt, but the update version in the play store does:\
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pransuinc.screenorientation&hl=en
But it does not lay out correctly.

Yes I also find it a very useful app. Use if for Netflix and Crackle and for some games.
I usually enable full!screen when browsing the web. Btw is there any way to close recent apps when full!screen enabled?

Just curious: why?
I use this also in combination with Rotation Control. I like to hold my tablet horizontally and when I open Crackle it goes vertically. So now it goes horizontally with Rotation Control and fullscreen with full!screen+

I am using LMT v1.91.apk and FullScreenToggleV2.
Nexus 7 JB 4.2.2 all perfect.
First install LTM. For the moment, leave everything at default enabled only the service (Autostart TouchService) and start (Start/Stop TouchService). Then if you want you can customize it (also serves for the gesture). Check the operation of LTM, make a tiny thumb slide from right to left in the middle of the right side of the tablet, it will open a pie (cake) with buttons that we are going to remove.
Watch the video to get an idea http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=stDR9_fANBY
If everything works, install FullScreenToggleV2 and activate it (Disable nav bar, full screen). It seems that nothing happened but now reboot your tablet and you should have the full screen ready to use :fingers-crossed:

I emailed the dev about this to see if there was a way for him to allow closing of recents through the app and this is his reply:
The well known "swipe-to-kill" option currently is not possible. The information
used for the recent-apps-list is handled by Android itself and it is not
possible for user apps to remove items from that list. However I am trying to
find a workaround.

This may be possible if you are rooted with xposed installed, otherwise wait till roms come out or use a overlay launcher

I'm only 5'10 and my hands can easily reach the home button... I'm not sure I understand the issue.
But as far as I know, you'd need to be rooted in order to add in things like a navigation bar, at least a fully working one. Check the app store and see if theres any options maybe?

well the thing is I'm coming for my original 10.1Wifi and have had custom ROM since day one and being able to do the navigation bar for orientation it's always there, not sure I can get used to the situation of having it strictly on one side. Of course it is rooted all 5 of our Samsung phones are rooted and running custom Roms. Before my note3 usually hadn't bought then till the roms where already established. Haven't used Xposed but guess time to learn.
Root and download gmd gesture control,. It gives you simple gestures To back or home

Handy Soft Keys from the play store gives you pop up home/back/recent apps buttons on one edge of the screen. Moveable so you can put it where your thumb naturally sits. No need for root. Not perfect but works well for me given the silly place Samsung put the home button
I use Button Savior Non Root (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.smart.swkey.nonroot)
You can set location, theme and which buttons to show - you can even set custom actions.
The only issue is - if you are not rooted, you can't get menu button.

I second Button Savior with Root. After I switched to that, I went from wanting to break this tablet in half because of the button placement to now I love using it.

I killed the long press on the menu because I kept hitting it and switching over to S Finder with portrait apps. That is seriously confusing the first time it happens. My wife couldn't figure out at all what was going on the one time I handed my tablet to her in portrait and it happened to her. Then I made the long press home Google Now using Xposed so I could use the search app I really wanted in the first place.

Click right side of Oppo Launcher
Took me a while to find that one myself. Of course then it didn't work, apps didn't sort at all but it fixed itself after I reinstalled the beta and it would then sort them. Just an FYI in case you hit the button and nothing happens.

It's odd that I have nothing under Settings>General>Main Screen as in I don't have a "Main Screen", but if I am in the app drawer and I long press an icon (they start wiggling) and at the bottom in green you can tap it to put them in alphabetical order.

No, you don't. When its working they will immediately sort themselves, when something is hosed they won't restart or no. As to the fellow above you are on 1.2, they changed it in the beta to an option in the main settings and the drawer no longer sorts by a long press in the drawer.
Thanks lagunabad. I have been struggling to get TWRP on here, so I hadn't put the beta on yet. Finally got TWRP on just now, so I'll see what everyone else sees.

I tried the method off the S10+ forums but for me anytime the screen would go off the bottom portion of the screen would just go dead until a reboot.
I ended up using vivid navigation gestures and just use the in app method to hide the navigation bar.
I turned off alternative keyboard detection in advanced settings and turned on Samsung touch home setting. Seemed to fix issues I had with no side effects so far.

The only issue I have ran into doing it this way is the fingerprint animation is a little bit lower than normal. But for that one small annoyance I will deal with it for navigation gestures that actually work.
Edit: when you do it this way make sure you have the navigation bar on in the normal settings on the phone and not gestures. If you have gestures on and you hide it with the app then a lot of things are out of place.

I had to use adb to grant Vivid permission to hide the nav bar. Let me know if you need any other screenshots.
Not sure why I still have Setedit still installed, I hid it in my Nova app drawer so it doesn't run in the background or anyting.

Stop rotation when landscape app is minimized.

Hi, my problem is that everytime I exit an app from landscape mode using the swipe gesture the entire phone would momentarily be in landscape before reverting back to portrait mode. This is really annoying, is there a way Samsung could fix this and let me go back to my homescreen without having it rotated?
