TWRP availability for Mi Mix 3 - Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 Guides, News, & Discussion

Hello all,
I was wondering how long will it take to release a official or modified TWRP for Xiaomi Mi Mix 3.

This doesn't belong in this section.

This does not belong in this section, but I do have a compiled TWRP here but its just untested.
I won't post a topic about it unless I know it works reliably enough: https://github.com/smiba/android_device_xiaomi_perseus/releases
(Also since again this is untested, the risk is 100% on the user who installs this.)

Your post does belong in this section I believe some standard formatting is preferred. OP was making a request, which definitely does not belong here.
That said, thank you for putting together TWRP for this device, but does any one have unlocked bootloader at this point such that it can be installed?

@djbosanac It is logical to ask this question but it is another thing to do something, STUPID. OK, you just bought yourself a $450-$700 dollar phone and you would be stupid and try to install an untested version of TWRP? @simba has not recieved the phone yet (if you would read). So do not be stupid and install it UNLESS YOU KNOW CODING YOURSELF! Then, once you brick your device, you are going to scream bloody murder asking everyone to help you unbrick it!
Hey, I have seen it before.
So, chill for a week or two. Once people get their devices things move forward.

Ya, I am going to chill on this device. I have not purchased it, yet. It looks tempting because I like everthing about it but because it does not have band 71, it is a real phone killer for the t-mobile croud. If I do get one it would be the international version. I really, really, really love the slider. I mean, that is really cool what xiaomi has done with this phone. There will be a lot sitting on the fence for a while, I am sure about that. Your thoughts on the phone?? Did you purchase one?

I have TMobile and band 71 is a non issue. Very few areas even support it

I have t-mobile and a lot of areas do support band 71, now. I think what you meant was if the area that you live in is not going to get band 71 until 2020 it may be ok to purchase a non band 71 phone now, then I agree. What I think is most want the lower bands to penetrate into buildings so they can receive calls and stuff like ATT. For most t-mobile customers (like myself) it is a hard sell. What I love is the bootloader is unlocked, slider, camera, GPS, etc. I am waiting for the global rom to see if it will support volte. I might get the "palace special" with the 10GB.
What I am worndering, right now, is if broadcomm hard coded the shut down codes into their gnss GPS chip so that people in the United States will not be able to receive the european and china GPS signals. If that is the case then a software upgrade after November 16th will not ever allow anyone in the United States to recieve the european GPS signals. Again, another deal killer.

I have a Mix 3 in my hands. Will look for a fastboot rom as backup and then test this TWRP.

Congrats! Did you successfully add Google Apps?

Even though this thread has been off topic for some time and will be disguarded anyway; Anyone in the US, receiving L1/L5 Gallio GPS signals? and/or the China sats? I am just curious whether broadcomm hard coded those off (shut them down) based off position.

It's not very likely you brick a phone by just booting the recovery.img..... do you just mean it didn't boot into TWRP?

Just flashed CM12.1 on an Amazon Fire tablet with a locked bootloader

As the title states I just flashed CM12.1 with FlashFire on a fire with a locked bootloader, what is stopping us from being able to do the same thing with the G4?

What?! It all really boils down to just that. Think about the implications. And the fact that you think since the device's release nobody has thought about just flashing with flash fire is also amusing. There is a reason nobody has done that.

Look. You can probably flash whatever you want on a bootloader locked device. But the locked bl will prevent it from booting. That's the whole purpose of locked bootloaders. That's what they do since their implementation.

Which is the whole reason I thought it was odd that I could flash CM on a locked bootloader with the Amazon Fire. That is why I asked what is stopping it from working on other locked devices. The bootloader is locked on the Amazon Fire, yet I was able to flash CM with FlashFire and it booted and works just fine.

Which is the reason why I wrote that it's not the same device. You're idea would only work if both devices were using the same SoC, bootloader and bootloader lock mechanism and even then there'd be technical limitations that would prevent it from working. I have the impression that you're not even remotely informed about what you're trying to discuss about here. I'm gonna leave now.
Try it on the G4, keep us updated on your brand new bricked device so we can all have a very good laugh.

OP is asking a legit question in the appropriate forum; why get all snarky about it?
The amazon fires bootloader had a bug where you could use fastboot boot command without unlocking the bootloader but we can't do that on here as the bootloader are different and they probably fixed it on the g4

Appropriate forum but still a very uninformed and uneducated question. Devs are posting the supported models of their work so people don't go and do stuff like flashing random ROMs on anything then complain about it not working. You'd think people would know by now.

Legit question? [emoji23] [emoji23] Congratulations. You played yourself. I don't have time for this. Go flash whatever you want and then complain about bad dev support on the internet and how "insert_oem" has lost a customer.
It's always the same thing.

Seems to me like you have plenty of time to post condescending replies. Even if the OP's question may indicate a less-than-comprehensive understanding of the issue, he should feel free to ask without fear of getting humiliated. Why not post a more constructive reply, or, if you can't, just move on to a thread you don't find so frustrating?
For the record, I have never complained about a dev or a manufacturer after any of the countless times I've borked something myself.

Root?

Does anyone know how we can go about obtaining root?
One way would be to patch the boot.img with magisk but since we don't have recovery files that won't be possible for now. Is there any other method?

No idea where to go with rooting but since all Razer phones are bootloader unlockable they seem ok with it to the point that they're letting us decide what to do with our phones.
They've made it clear that unlocking the bootloader and/or rooting/installing recovery will void warranty and will leave you entirely on your own as far as repairs go at that point.
Unless you're using Three Rescue and tell them you have no idea what happened and can't really say anything except;
"Well.... It's just.... Not working. I don't know why. It ran out of battery and since then I can't turn it on no matter what I do. Charging makes no difference."
Root plz?
Hey,
Just got confirmation mine has shipped. Anyone achieve root yet?
I saw bootloader unlock is easy... but i don't know enough to take that and achieve root from it on my own. Suggestions?

Note that in the US it's technically illegal for them to deny warranty for anything software related unless they prove that the unlocking of the bootloader/rooting/etc is what caused the failure in the first place.

Interesting.... But I think they may be a way to relock the bootloader like on some Nexus devices. If that's the case then Razer won't be able to tell and would have to Honor the Warranty.

Figured it out :good:
You can enter Recovery Mode by Holding volume Up while plugging in the USB.
And Download Mode same way but the Volume Down and plugging in.

Considering the language barrier & /or translation, whether literal or, in real meaningful context, is hard to glean from that answer.
Could be a canned response, or, their intentions of not planning to accommodate, or, something else (not now, but, at a later date).

Not looking to good for development so far. I'm loving this phone a lot but without root and custom roms I really have no use for it. I sold my Note 8 because it was so locked down and I couldn't do what I wanted with the device. Now this one isn't locked down as much but it looks like Razer is lacking in releasing the required images needed for root and custom recovery (TWRP). They may or may not release it with time but it will be after the return period by then. So now I'm debating if I should return it and go with the Oneplus 5T which has amazing development.
Anyone else want to try contacting them? Maybe we can get something going if they see the user want it.

Yes the essential phone at its current price is looking like a hell of a deal. With this phone I wouldn't mind having at least the stock rom rooted but we don't even have that. I'm willing to wait if there was at least some hope. I thought I saw some where we may even be covered with an extended holiday return window. Do you know anything about that? If that's the case ill try to run it as close as I can to the return dead line.
I opened up a poll on the Razer forums to see if most users are even interested in root.
I know a lot of user's here on xda that can't have a device without root. I'm interested to see what the response would be of non xda user regarding root.

If I were you,I'd check Amazon or Microsoft Store for their return policy & return the one you ordered direct from Razer,if it's worthwhile, not a drawn-out process with Razer.
Another option would be to flip it on Swappa, you could probably at least break even or come close to it,especially if you have a case/etc.. to throw in to the deal.................

No he is right.
On the other hand, you are thinking wrongly. 720 hours is nothing for whyred.
The question is why?
Why? Because there's no ROM here we can call really stable, at the moment. Especially since it was switched to Android 9.
Take a look at the alleged LOS15.1, which is supposed to be "stable". I have that device since early May. It's now early october. I started using the ROM end August.
I keep finding issues. I reported bugs, and nothing is done about it (not even looked upon the official Jira), in months.
Look at the bluetooth for example, even sending/receiving a simple file fails.
Some others will tell you "yeah it's ok for daily use", blablabla. I had other roms, there's nothing to debate.
So it seems the most android 8 based roms are abandoned and some slow progress on versions for 9.
I guess your 720 hours is a blessing in disguise, one way or another you'd have to wait anyway. It gives you time to research how to do.
Oh yes because if you want a decent firmware, kernel, camera, rom, etc... you'll need to patch your phone more than frankestein has stitches.

No. It is not unlockable, period. Nothing is broken at all. They intentionally lock the BL and don't allow unlocking it. There's no other way or exploits to unlock it.

It is a great phone honestly but the fingerprint scanner really really sucks. I just went ahead and disabled it because its so bad and I have up to the January patch. Its so inconsistent its embarrassing. I'm scouring the net now to see if someone created a patch or kernel to help improve this problem.

Tell you the truth i was unsure the other versions worked on my sim card and i needed a phone so i did prime shipping on it and got it the next day i really did not care at that point if it had root since im trying to get the s20 ultra in a couple months but i really like the a50 and it makes me kinda sad there is no oem unlock to the us version
Edit: when i was reading through quickly i thought magisk wasnt supported for a while in stock rom.

magisk requires an unlocked bl.. period.. installing it in daemon mode or system mode is also possible but that defeats the purpose and you need an unlocked bl to even do that

Actually thinking about it i have forced magisk into a phone with a locked bootloader (figo gravity...idk lol long time ago) but on 6.0...im sure that samsung has more security on their phones so it might not let me force the img through odin since its not even signed.

OnePlus 7t using verizon- bootloader unlock question

Hi.
Just had high level verizon tech fix my cdma-less on my account and I have this great working phone that says T-Mobile on the init boot screen but is actually running Verizon.
Regarding unlocking the bootloader, (why do I always have to do this? I think I have a sickness... I just... cant... help it....) why would the standard fastboot unlock not work? I was thinking of trying it when I get home just to see what happens. I already have the dev/OEM unlock selected. Plus the phone says it is already unlocked for any service. Most posts are tmobile posts relying on a 7 day wait from tmobile to get a code/something... I am thinking that would not apply to me for better or worse.
I really just need root for a complete blackout theme and pull off a few bloatware tmobile apps. But it runs so good now, as is, that it really isnt imperative.
Oh, I see. I need an unlock token. bummer
Well yes and no about the token. I have a HD1907 working very nicely on verizon, but I'm on the global firmware and did not have to wait a week for the token.
Edit: My first oneplus phone and I'm not sure I get exactly why a lot do not like 7t but I'm really digging and loving the phone.

I put in a request for the token and will wait a week. I see how it can be done as you mentioned. I am thinking I will be cool with just magisk modding the boot img and getting root that way. Keeping everything else as is. I really dig the oneplus ui.
After having a bunch of other phones throughout the years, I can say that this oneplus is just very nice. I have no complaints, just compliments. If this is how oneplus devices are then I was missing out before! *except the strange wait time for unlocking the bootloader via-oneplus*

Thanks. I will try this tonight.
** I am now rooted.
I feel blessed to have such a fast and smooth phone. A mix of substratum themes helped blackout my phone.

Got any tips for getting them to activate cdma-less? Everytime I've tried they just say they don't have the option and just resort to my device not being compatible.

Hello, I just purchased a 7T that I am planning to use on Visible (Verizon network) I was looking through the forum and saw your post. Did you initially have a problem running the 7T on the Verizon network? I s that the reason you had the tech working to fix your CDMA account? I'm trying to decide if I want to go through the hastle or just switch to another provider where I can just use the phone.
