You can amazon fire stick and believe it is quite good. You should have WiFi internet in your home. Otherwise chromecast, but amazon fire stick is superior. You can later install kodi

Wireless video out: possible?

I wonder, is it possible to connect the Note to a TV set without NHL or other wired setups? Is there any kind of dongle one can connect to the TV to receive audio/video by Bluetooth or wifi?

U can, if the TV do have DLNA and just connect it wireless.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xEFdjqmgngA
Do you want to stream content from the phone or see the phone screen on the TV?
DLNA would cover the 1st option - the built-in Allshare app turns the phone into a DLNA compliant server.
For the 2nd option, you could either use and MHL cable with a wireless HDMI setup or use something Android VNC Server from a PC attached to the TV.
I use imediashare from the market to stream to my apple tv2... works great. Works with an Xbox and lots of other things too.

Allshare works fine. I have connected my PC, LED and phone. Cool thing to show off as well.
Thanks, the latter.I might use one of my Nokia internet tablets to setup vnc and hook it to my TV. Won't be quick enough for gaming and streaming, though.
The wireless hdmi setup requires too many things attached to the Note to be comfortable.

The Allshare works great, running with a Samsung UNC55D8000. Images video crisp clear and very fast sync.
Is there any wireless Mirroring on the horizon?

Allshare works fine between TV and phone, but the PC client has difficulties with shared folders. It keeps delisting my media folders, and now even unable to add any folders at all.
Try Qloud Media Free in the market

Awesome! How cool is that? Am playing movies straight from my phone via the PS3 to the big screen with no cables. Magic.
Much appreciated. I shall now have to tour friends' houses to show off!
Plasma TV without DLNA
Hi guys,
I have a LG Plasma TV without DLNA but with USB ports and HDMI ports.
I know I can connect my Note with the MHL cable but would like to explore the wireless options.
1) If I try to plug a wifi usb stick to the Plasma TV, will it work ?
2) If not, what are the other available options ?
thanks

Please can someone confirm which app you guys are talking about to stream to the ps3 for movies download from my phone.
Thanks guys

Unlikely, the USB port on your TV is likely only for connecting a USB memory stick or hard-drive to display photos and possibly videos. If your TV's firmware had support for a wireless USB dongle it would also likely be DLNA compliant.
Hi thanks. I have heard about HDMI (one side) to wireless (the other side) connection for example for HTC (HTC Media Link). Do we have similar things for Samsung Galaxy Note?

Well, there's the HTC Media Link for starters!
However, this only offers DLNA streaming, not full display mirroring.
The HTC Media Link HD does offer display mirroring, but only when partnered with an HTC One X or S.

OK,
So what are the available options for me (owner of the galaxy note and a HDTV without DLNA but with HDMI).
Is it only the MHL cable then ? Any other options to mirror or wirelessly stream ?
I saw an adapter for the Galaxy III which connects to the phone through wifi direct and to the TV set through hdmi cable. It's exactly what I wanted.
Hope out works for the Note, too, when it's available.

If your TV doesn't have dnla, Then get a dnla ready home theater / blue ray player
Those are your only two choices for wireless streaming from your Note to your TV. And it works really well.

[Q] send video to tv

Hi all.
I don't know why this seems to be such a difficult thing to do but I can't seem to get a straight answer.
I have a Galaxy Note 2, my wife has a Sensation XE and we both will soon have Nexus 7 and/or Nexus 10 - possibly. What I want to achieve is a way to send video content including things like netflix from our devices to our TV wirelessly.
I don't want to have seperate receivers etc for each device but I am happy for a software solution if a hardware one is not available.
Thanks
im not sure about netflix and stuff because i don't use it, but when you have any videos theres a button on the top with like a small tv and 3 lines or so all together like a little symbol, your tv provided its a samsung, should be connected on the same wifi as your phone and all you have to do is clack that button and it should work.
As for youtube which is what i sometimes use, i just pair it with the TV and it connects straight away.. really simple
This looks similar to what your after .

I've tried that with an app called 'Skifta' to a laptop running xbmc (for testing purposes) but it only supports local content and a select few stations/channels of which netflix isn't one. My TV is a 6 year old Bush LCD IDTV so no DLNA

yes allshare cast works on older tv which are not smart tv.
if your samsung tv is new it would be dlna or smart tv so you wont need that allshare cast

Sorry, what I meant was, does allshare cast work with non-samsung phones/tablets (see OP).
I don't have a samsung TV nor can I afford one.
Well, it's a hardware solution, and right now is a lil bit on the pricey side. Gigabyte skyvision ws100.
The advantage, you can use it with whatever devices with hdmi i/o capability. It seems it pretty much works flawlessly and without lag, if I had came across it couple of months before I might have bought one instead a 30m+ HDMI cable than runs from my PC to the TV in the living room. If I had, now I could easily switch between PC (gaming), laptop (movie watching), and now phones (occasional viewing of photos and stuff). And, I could use it to stream av to the projector in our bedroom.... might still consider this Christmas.
Best regards.
The device is called Allshare cast dongle. It works with any TV with HDMI port. Plugs in to the hdmi port and you connects your to galaxy device over "wifi direct" (you dont need a wifi network for this to work). Its not sold in North America (thanks to apple) but is widely available on amazon and ebay for under $100.
Hope this helps.
Cheers

I shall investigate. The problem with cables however is that the devices have different HDMI outputs (if at all) hence wanting wireless solution.

Sort of. Chromecast can show a few things (YouTube, Google Play, Hulu Plus, NetFlix) on your TV. It is controlled by an Android device (like the Nexus) but it isn't streaming it from there.
However, on a desktop browser (but not from the Nexus, that I know of) you can have it more or less grab your screen and put it on the TV. Then you can show anything but video performance is only so-so and that's if you have a screaming fast computer and network.
Why you can't do that from Android, I have no idea -- it may be because of things like Hulu being paranoid about missing out on the mobile market.

Chromecast is not mirroring. You need special apps that have Chromecast capability to stream. And currently there are very few apps that can do that (Netflix, Youtube, etc.). You can not even mirror pictures or recorded videos (yet).
There are 3 ways (that I'm aware of) to mirror (listed in order or reliability):
1. Use a long cable (wired method). You need a slimport adapter and a long HDMI cable. There are mixed reviews and many are reporting the cheaper slimport adapters aren't working well. I use the one made by Kanex and it works well, but it's on the more expensive side at about $30.
2. Miracast (wireless) - This is similar to Widi and may be compatible with some Widi units. You need a TV that has a widi adapter built-in or you need to purchase a Widi Adapter for your TV. I have a Belkin Screencast which connects to my TV via HDMI and is a Widi adapter. The latest firmware allow it to do Mracast as well. However, I had to try several times until I got it to connect. I bought the Belkin Screencast a year ago to work with my laptop, but it was unreliable as it disconnected every few minutes. Hoping the latest firmware update would fix some issues. I just connected it today to my Nexus 7 and need to do further testing.
3. Google TV (wireless) - You need a TV with a built-in Google TV box or a separate Google TV box. There are apps that you can add to both the Google TV box and your Nexus which allow mirroring. However, I found this to be unreliable. The apps really slowed down my Logitech Google TV box. Lots of lag as well.
Nothing beats the good old wired slimport cable. However, I've seen Youtube videos showing great success using Mracast with other branded Miracast adapters (maybe it's just the Belkin that has issues).
Good luck!
Just a quick question, can I switch the screen off on my mobile when mirroring to tv via slimport? I want to use xbmc on nexus to watch tv on my tv screen and use Bluetooth mouse to control it so I don't need my nexus screen to be on.
Thanks

No. Slimport will mirror whatever is on your screen to your TV. If the Nexus screen is blank, the TV screen will be blank too.
Obviously a Slimport connected to the Nexus 7 is the way to go. Then it is just HDMI.
I do have a question, can you please recommend a specific slimport model where someone has had success with the airport.

Sky go app for Fire TV "hdmi not supported"?

Hi I am currently using a gen 2 fire TV and recently signed up to sky. I sideloaded the sky go app using the app from my note 4 and anytime I try to play something on my fire tv I get the HDMI not supported error. I saw the list of working apps thread and it said sky go does work but I always keep getting this error. Any way to solve this?? Maybe a previous version of the app can be uploaded? Any help would be great!
Most mobile apps from cable or satellite providers don't allow you to view over a wired connection. So, the first thing to try is disconnecting your Ethernet cable to the router and use WiFi only. The app should then recognize your Fire TV as a mobile device.

i use this apk on my aftv2 (germany)

Just googled: sky go for android tv
device is connected via lan and it is working, but u need a mouse (btw. it's more easy to navigate)
I've got 2 fire tv gen 1 models running the latest sky go app ( ver 5.0.4.9) downloaded from aptoide and both Fire TV's are connected by ethernet. Everything on sky go runs fine....except for sky news. That's where I get the HDMI not supported error as well, but as far as sky sports or sky movies or anything else on sky go, everything plays fine. I'm running the app with a wireless touchpad / keyboard ( logitech ) connected using a usb dongle.

Just guessing, but I wonder if it's an HDMI HDCP issue you're coming across due to the copyright protection handshake between the fire tv and your tv. I've got two fire TV 1st gen's running on two Sony TV's and 1 fire stick running on a Vizio bedroom tv and need to use a bluetooth keyboard / touchpad with the stick and usb wireless keyboard / touchpad for the Fire TV's in order to make skygo function properly since there's no official Fire TV version, but my only HDMI 'not supported' issue I consistently get with Skygo on the Fire TV boxes and stick is when trying to access Sky news. Every movie, sports, other channels available on Skygo work fine.....except for sky news, and like you, I get that HDMI not supported message when I try to stream it. Also using a proxy to make it all work, but I'm not experiencing a channel wide HDMI 'not supported message' in the app like you're coming across. 5.1.0.47 is the latest app version of Skygo. Hopefully it works for you or you figure out where the problem might be.
Tried this version Callanish same message hdmi not supported can't figure out what the hell the problem is I'm baffled how the hell is it working on my original fire tv set up exactly the same way but won't work on the 4k fire tv I'm totally stumped
I'm having to send it back now as i got a system update today and following the update i couldn't connect a bluetooth mouse the powerlight kept blinking or not appearing even when the fire tv was on and then the remote started going mental contacted amazon and they are sending a replacement tomorrow and added bonus I'm getting to keep the remote and they are giving me a £10 credit following the problems hopefully the new one is better

So, basically what we can surmise from all this is that the Fire TV 2 boxes have aggressive HDCP copyright protection built in to prevent apps like Skygo from functioning. The options remaining, imho, are either A) purchase another Fire TV 1 box used or new if you can find one B) purchase a new Fire TV stick as it's still a version 1 device and I can vouch that it still works with Skygo 2 C) run one of the many Android boxes out there, sideload skygo and do some testing, or D) Do what I did and run a Intel Nuc; (a windows type box) or something similar, and hook it up to a usb Wireless keyboard and run skygo through a browser. That's what I use as a backup option. Yes, you could also use a computer connected with an hdmi cable to a tv, but the Intel NUC, for me, streamlines the process. Probably impractical for your needs, but just want to point out another option. The Point is, unless some other people on the forum chime in telling you that they've gotten skygo to work on the Fire TV 2, and how they've done it, then it might be time to throw in the towel on this one and think about some other options. You know Amazon and Sky are going to continue to make it harder to do what we want, so it might be better to just find a box, like the Fire TV 1 or Fire TV stick and at least get Skygo working again.
For the record, I've got my Fire Tv boxes and stick blocked for any future Amazon firmware updates. I'm thinking that Amazon could introduce an update that prevents the Fire TV 1 and Stick from working with Skygo as well, so better safe than sorry.

How to modify APK Question

Hi my local cable company has a pretty sweet app and it works on a firestick with no issues. However, I upgraded to a Fire TV in hopes it would be faster. So far it is, However, my cable app is not working because it detects HDMI output. How or why it didn't on the firestick IDK but can anyone guide me on how to fix this or if I send you the APK is someone willing to look at it and fix it for me or guide me how to? I'm willing to learn I just can't seem to figure it out.
I suspect it has to do with the Fire TV HDMI CEC detection. I would suggest you try turning it off.

Thanks for the tip and I tried it out but it's app specific. Click to view channels and it says external display not supported. Which makes no sense to me since a firestick runs the same app without issue.
