[Q] Laser Focuser Issues??? - Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact Questions & Answers

Darnedest thing happened this morning. Went to take a photo, camera went blurry on me. Forgot about it, went to take another photo this afternoon and the camera just remained blurry. In fact, it was "stuck" on macro, focused about 3" from the camera, but nothing else I could do to shake it.
Force closed app; wiped data; wiped cache; rebooted. Powered off. Rebooted. Wiped the laser focuser. Nothing worked. Had a lovely long chat with Sony Tech Support, which (naturally) recommended software repair (why do they ALWAYS say "you'll have to factory reset....?")
Decided, who the hell knows why, to give the camera a slight knock, like something was "loose" inside (not that I heard anything).
Guess what? Everything is copacetic.
WTF? Why/how could this possibly be?

[Q] Glitchy images with primary camera

Something went wrong with my camera all of a sudden. When I was traveling I was taking a number of pictures, and a few times the camera app I was using (it was the out-of-the-box app with the Cyanogen ROM) froze the phone and I had to pull the battery. I left the phone with a friend and the first pictures they took had artifacts like the attached image does (read: see attached!).
For some reason, when the camera app is open, the real-time preview has these artifacts across the whole image. When it focuses and captures the image, only half of the image has a problem. When the problem first occurred, the whole image was affected.
Has anyone seen this before? I could try re-flashing my phone, but if it's a hardware defect it would be for nothing. Any ideas?
I did a factory reset and re-flashed CM6. The camera is still messed up.
Am I totally out of luck?
The only thing left I can think of is to reformat the SD card, not that I can see how it would help...
Reformatted, reflashed, the whole 9 yards. No fix. It must be a hardware defect. Blast.

Camera focus stuck on N7100

After more than 1.5 yrs of using my Note 2, recently I noticed that sometimes the camera focus gets stuck. It seems to be at macro focus distance. So everything close to the lens will be clear, and things beyond that blurred. There is no way to refocus. No matter what I do (using manual touch focus, setting to autofocus, setting to macro focus, setting to video mode, killing the camera app or restarting the phone) it is stuck for some time. And then it just starts to work again by itself after few minutes. Completely randomly it seems. I'd say it gets stuck approx every 5th time when I turn the camera on.
If I look at the lens, while the focus is stuck, the lens, naturally, also don't move as they move when the focus is not stuck.
What could this be? My bet would be an issue with camera, but I'd like to exclude any possible known issue, before I RMA it. I still have few months of warranty. Normally I would be doing the factory reset, but I was kinda waiting for the 4.3 or 4.4.2 update, and fresh flash.
I'm running stock 4.1.2 (still the latest official for me), and it is rooted, and triangled away. Everything else is stock. I use stock camera app. Also I don't seem to have any other problems. When it does focus, the camera produces sharp photos. SO no problems there either.
PS The lens are clean and undamaged, as is the whole phone.

Camera cannot focus at distance

I got a warranty replacement and I'm finding the camera cannot focus at distance. Up to 1 foot it focuses great, but anything farther is a mess. Even with manual focus at infinity it doesn't work.
Sad quality control?
What about with video ?
Give the lens a clean. Take a good look at it and see whether some dust got trapped on the inside. Give it a tap and see if it moves.
With the camera app closed and not in memory try clearing the camera app cache and restarting. If that does nothing try clearing the camera data too.

Same thing with video. I had read about clearing cache/data, so I tried that as well. Even tried factory reset. It seems this camera just cannot set focus at infinity. Used several other camera apps with the same result.
Same here .. Got a warranty replacement for my bricked G4 (boot loop failure) and the new phone has serious camera focus issues. Will not focus on infinity and even at short distances has grainy unfocused pics intermittently. My old G4 camera was amazing even at infinity on max 4.0 zoom super clear pics. This one not even close. Video is the same. Very disappointed. Maybe I need a new Camera module? Any advice would be helpful.
I feel like I need to see what sprint ir LG can find out but sure they will say it works fine but I know better. Arrg!
Hi there,
Did you get a solution for this problem? I have noticed the same situation, focus for close objects, macro, works amazing, but for far objects it's out of focus, I notices for stock and 3rd party apps. I've tried Google camera, Stock camera, LG G5 camera, LG V10 camera, Pro Shot, Camera FV-5, Open camera, this issue also happens for video. I start to suspect that issue it's hardware.
Any suggestions?

Camera issue or phone broken?

I've got the "cannot connect to camera" issue since last summer, but I can still use the camera if I reset my phone once or twice. It became seriously day by day until now, I cannot activate my camera completely. "Flashlight" shows gray in top menu (but flashlight hardware is fine), Google Camera will FC after few seconds I open it.
I saw many threads in XDA and Chinese forums, tried safe mode, factory reset, wipe all data and even flash factory images, relock bootloader by following those instructions but nothing helps. I don't know why because I didn't do anything to my phone and it just naturally became like this. Except for the camera, all the hardwares and softwares as well as functions are working properly, no signs of getting worse.
I'm not sure the camera module or the motherboard has broken or not, anyone still have any ideas to fix this?

Question HDR photos issue

Hello everybody. Im using this phone for about 2 weeks now and I have notice there are problems taking HDR photos. Almost every time taking photos while driving it looks like this:
Sometimes there are also same issues in portrait mode (look at water on right).
When HDR is turned off everything is ok.
Delete the data from the camera app in the app settings from the system.
If that doesn't help reset the phone to factory settings.
Is it still the phone exchange. Then it is a hardware defect that may come from the ISP that calculates the images.
It is possible that something has been damaged after puting phone into water for few seconds? (10 cm for 10-15 seconds). It is ip68 certified.
it has an IP certification that says it can be submerged in water up to 1m for 30 minutes.
If something broke, this is a warranty case.
Deleting app data doesnt help. Still same issue. Sometimes also sky is burned (all photos taken in same time and same direction).
So this is not only my unit fault. Another user send me photos he take while driving and he have same issue. Can you check yours phones?
You guy should understand how HDR works in real life. It takes multiple photos at the same scene and stacks them up together to get a better result compared to a single shot. Therefore, while you are driving at hight speed, the phone cannot take multiple photos at the same scene anymore, and the result when stacking up those photos is what you got with your pics above.
I know how HDR works. I have been using many phones and this one is my first that make crap with HDR on while driving. I have take plenty photos when driving with other phones and never have almost every photo with that issues. Maybe 1/50 was with bugs but not every one.
This is the worst i can find fron OP 7T
Portrait mode
(Yes i know first is not focus correctly)
These were not dynamic (fast moving) shots but still.
Another one with HDR problem. Static photo, not in move. I takie photos. One on normal mode and secondein night mode. Night mode is ok but normal have bugs.
