SM-j730F Oreo to Nougat downgrade - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

Hi guys I am new to this forum so if this thread is in the wrong section I apologize.
I have Samsung galaxy J7 2017 phone (SM-J730F). which I bought carrier free-unlocked from a seller in Croatia.
Unfortunately I was stupid enough to fall for the OTA update and installed Oreo on it, after that my phone's battery
life was cut in half and apps started hanging and crashing. I wan't to revert to Nougat, I have tried to flash
two official ROMS downloaded from updato and sammobile but it fails every time. Yes I have tried
multiple usb ports, cables and etc. Problem is I can't find the carrier free ROM for CROATIA on neither updato nor sammobile
and I downloaded south east europe rom which doesn't want to flash. By browsing through multiple pages
I found that the problem might be in the bootloader version, Oreo has higher bootloader version and doesn't
allow flashing a rom with lower bootloader version (which I havent checked). Please guys if someone could help
me with this, cause oreo is driving me crazy and basically making my device unusable. I'd appreciate it if someone could provide
links and tips or walkthroughs. Thanks in advance

Do you have the asian csc file I upgraded to a eu version. Would like to flash back
to the asian version. From what I gather csc deals with network settings and gps settings best optimized for each network. After updating to eu my gps has gotten worse than before although thats not saying much as it was not very good in the firstplace
It is already available from http://samsung-firmware.webs.com

Unable to update software (either through Kies & OTA)

Hi, I have a Note2 (n7100) for almost a month now and I cannot update its software to the latest which is 4.1.2.
My phone keeps saying that I already have the latest one but I still have the 4.1.1... I also installed Kies on my PC also shows that I have the latest firmware.
My phone is not rooted. Could please help me? Do I need to change some settings on it.
Not only you but many others also having this, likely this is from samsung server issue not on your device. Or may be your country have not received update yet.
Simply download latest ROM and flash using it Odin, really odin is much safer and stable then Kies.
you can get more info from my signature, read N7100 All in One.

Thanks for the reply. I would like to know where can I download the official firmware that fit to my phone? Can I use firmware based in Regions Supported: Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Spain, United Kingdom. OR I need to download a different one.
below is the information of my phone
Baseband version: N7100XXALJ2
Kernel version: 3.0.31-310959 [email protected] #1 SMP PREEMT
Build number : JRO03C.N7100XXALJ3
Hope to hear from you soon.
*** Using ODIN means just only update the firmware not rooting it? Because I do not want to root my phone. Just update it to the latest one.
Can you input here what you are getting by dialing *#1234#

Search 'samsung update' using Google, download any note 2 firmware you desire... (Don't worry I flashed France firmware although my phone is from Korea, it works perfectly)
Flash the firmware using ODIN...
1. DOWNLOAD Note 2 firmware (any)
2. Extract the zip file (Firmware that you downloaded)
3. Open ODIN, browse the md5 file in PDA...
4. Flash it
Done, easy... This WILL NOT ROOT your device... DON'T WORRY!
GOOD LUCK

Samsung Note2 unable to update
I have e same problem as minitokyo. I bought my note2 when 1st launched (1st batch), and software version is now 4.1.1. My phone is registered in Singapore with service provider Starhub. My phone runs on the generic platform instead of the service provider Starhub's platform . When i tried to update to 4.1.2 a few weeks ago, it says that i have "have the latest software installed". I just cant get it updated via phone (ota) or via computer (kies). I called Samsung , they cant explain too, other than offering to reset my phone to factory settings , which will erase all my data, so i do not want that. Until today, .i also cannot update. Where is the problem ?

[Q] Please Help a Noob out

Hi,
I attempted to put a stock rom back on the phone and then re-root.
I found a link for the stock rom whick matched my Build number and using ODIN it successfully installed.
Main issue I had previous was that I could not load into the Android recovery screen which I now can do.
When the phone booted up I was very surprised to see a "Orange mobile" splash screen and also the addition of loads of Orange Apps? Which I've now disabled. Could be A French ROM?
How can I get a Stock rom without any Mobile operator Bloatware and get rid of that Splash screen?
I don't understand most of the details related to my model number but it appears they have changed slightly.
Here's the list;
Model no. GT-N7100
Android version 4.1.2
Baseband version N7100BVDMF2
Kernel version 3.031-107214 [email protected]#1
SMP PREEMPT Sat Jun1 12.22.20 KST 2013
Build number JZ054K.N7100XXDMF1
I have also downloaded the Samsung galaxy note2 toolkit but cannot find my model numbers as it's not shown within the ranges.
Build numbers available between DMA3 - DMC1. does that make a difference.
Any help or advice would be appreciated.
Thanks
If you want an unbranded stock Rom for your region, go to sammobile.com and grab the latest firmware for the n7100, region code united kingdom btu. The btu bit denotes its unbranded and for the UK.

Thanks, I found it virtually straight away after creating my post last night.(as they say ,the informations out there, you just gotta know where to look!).I chose that one(French rom) on Sammobile as the build numbers where the same.! should of researched first
Thanks for the link.
I've just installed the stock ROM and all went well.
One issue or may not be is that when i go to About Device-Software update-check for updates and press nothin happens? Isn't it suppose to say Your device is already upto date?
Is there any links for a stable and most up to date version of Twrp recovery?
So Now i will try re-rooting again. I think I am going to try Twrp recovery after looking at a few forums.
Also I have seen people tap the Android version button(in About device) and the Jelly Bean wallpaper comes up but in my about device its all greyed out?
Anyway thanks again for the Help it was Greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Need Advice Please: GT-I9190 frimware update /no mobile data connection

Hello everyone
I've been battling with this issue for over a month now. I recently flashed CM12.1 / AICP 10.0 on my GTI9190 serrano3gxx and while they are beautiful ROMs, one problem arose. My mobile data doesn't seem to connect at all. WIFI, SMS and calls work without a hitch. I have tried all possible APN's for my carrier (Vodacom ZA) nothing worked. When I reverted back to my NAND backup of the stock ROM the mobile data was offline as well. Which makes no sense to me because it used to work fine in that configuration. This at least gave me the conclusion that the problem isn't ROM related, but then what?
Pretty much where I am now is I'm downloading an update for my firmware. I found a list on http://www.sammobile.com.
Original firmware: South Africa XFA I9190XXUBNA1 (Release date: 25-02-14 Version: 4.2.2)
Now downloading: South Africa XFE I9190XXUCOD2 (Release date: 01-07-15 Version 4.4.2)
Does this seem like the right path to take? I'm really struggling to find ANY sufficient information on the matter for my specific model s4 mini. Almost no information about firmware updates or anything on XDA. I'm not even sure of the risks from doing this firmware update. Will I still be able to run CM12.1 or AICP 10.0 etc? Will I be able to revert back to an older firmware version if this fails? (I'm leaning toward no)
All I want is for my mobile data to work again and this is the only sort of sensible option I've come across, however limited the information on it has been.
ANY help would be much appreciated. :good:
Update on this:
I first isolated the modem and tried flashing that (three times as recommended) Didn't work.
I then flashed the new firmware, which also didn't work. I'm now on new firmware and have tried different modems, nothing works.
Like what, is it actually possible to just "break" your modem? I'm starting to lose faith here.
[SOLVED. Seems like it was Vodacom denying me access somehow for whatever reason. Had to get a new SIM. Sigh. All that hassle.]

Where to start?

Hi guys!
XDA has always been a great resource every time I visit. Hoping to get some advice.
My LG G4 recently performed a factory reset while being in my pocket during a walk. The KnockOn feature did so many bad password attempts (no idea how since the "life is good" prompt should stop this), it formatted my phone. Not only is my phone reset, but my SD card that i thought safe, was also formatted and all of my backups are gone.
So now I look to custom ROMs and rooting the device to have some fun. Only, where do I begin?
Current Software Info:
-Android Version: 6.0
-Android security patch level: 2016-11-01
-Baseband version: MPSS.BO2.5.c3-00133-M8992FAAAANAZM-1
-Kernel Version: 3.10.84-gaffe7c4
-Build number: MRA58K
-Configuration version: J14.LGE.VS986.0
-Software version: VS98628A
-Software status: official
-Security software version: MDF v2.0 release 2
I see many threads documenting how to root 11A and 13B. But since I've received OTA since having my phone, i am on 28A. Is that correct?
I am good at following all the instructions. Can one of you please help me get started? Thanks much!
-resetssuck
You'll have to use LGUP to downgrade to LP then root using the one of many threads dedicated to that. But VS986 can't have any custom ROMs because the bootloader is locked.
LGUP: http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-g4/general/downgrade-mm-to-ll-lgup-t3322616/page12
ahh....so that explains why i'm not seeing any threads with ROMs for my model. yey!
just saw the thread you linked this morning. thanks much! i will start there.
