Honor 7X Issue - Honor 7X Questions & Answers

Hello,
Im facing issues when shooting photos to color red things, red objects display kinda pink. Someone have same issue?
Thanks in advance,

I noticed exactly the same issue when i was trying to take photos of red roses in Denmark. The color was very overly saturated pinkish chaos. I think it's just the poor quality camera itself. I kinda like 7x, but my old Note4 has a LOT better camera.

If your screen color is too saturated, you can try importing photos to your other devices to see if the same problem exists with photos?

Blue Viewing Angle

Hey everyone,
I just got my Note 2 last night coming from an iPhone --> GS3 to this and I really love it so far. One thing I have noticed is that the viewing angle for whites is pretty poor. I don't know if it's just my phone or not but the slightest difference in angle makes the screen have cool blue tint. Any other experiences with this?

From what I have read is you can adjust the display from the normal standard to movie and the picture quality is more natural. But what do I know, I'm still waiting for my preorder to arrive tomorrow.

I just tried that and it doesn't really fix the viewing angles but reading a lot online I found that this is very common on S AMOLED displays. I was thinking about returning it but it's just not worth it. Why would I be viewing it from any other angle anyways. It's just very sensitive. I can notice the slightest change in colour as the phone turns. Oh well! I'll get used to it

camera issues

Hey, iv got my S20 today. Been playing around with the camera and can honestly say I'm truly disappointed. The quality is awful. It finds it really hard to focus on things and the image quality is pants.
Iv just come from a p20 pro which I think was brilliant, I actually rate the camera on the p20 (a 2 yr old phone) 100x better than the S20.
Am I missing something or doing something wrong?
Waiting to fix focus with some updates... The quality is not awful, I think... Not so good as I expected too, but I have a hope that with some next updates, things will get better at some point... maybe
It's bad... Gutted iv got 10 days to return it. Guessing it ain't going to be fixed within that time
On wich software is your phone running? Samsung did fixed the issue with software updates on my phone.
Newest I think, iv got April 1st security updates.
today I cannot focus on my ID , driving license (to send it to my bank) , all photos was blurry in daytime condition shame
I noticed the same camera issues with my S20

Got an s20 plus and the same situation in here, Can even focus anything, or any text on the main camera, as the front camera too. Disappointed, came from the mi9 with Gcam that took awesome pics.
Glad its not just me then, now I don't know if I should keep it or not. The main thing I use is the camera
For my s20+ samdung improved the Camera, esp the autofocus in the past 3 updates.. But still fail to fix the white balance in low light.
Photos taken esp food is always too warm or with red tint. Had to manually adjust white balance with adobe lightroom or snapseed.
I just wish samsung will fix the white balance as it is very obvious it's a firmware bug.
Autofocus is still bad but it improved woth firmware updates. Doesnt really bug me as i always press on the location to focus though..

Well I've got 28 days now as the return centre has closed lol let's see how it goes
I have noticed several things that really annoy me and are making me think about selling it after 2 weeks. Does anyone else notice:
1. Extreme saturation of the colors on picture. Contrast is way too high. I have not been able to fix this.
2. Autofocus is really poor
3. In bright light outside, people almost are orange when using video. Gras is extremely green, it is so ugly.
4. When sending video on Whatsapp, quality decreases extreme. Meaning color is almost gone, quality very low. (I mean way more than the usual decreae because of dropping)
Really dissapoimted given the price of this device.

Grass is Extremely Green?: It was doing that to me too but it wasn't the Camera. It was because in Display I had Screen mode set to Vivid and not Natural. If you have Vivid on ever Picture is going to look oversaturated. It's the screen doing that not the Camera.

Try turn off scene optimization, this will boost collars also.
Or HDR and see if u like it better.
WhatsApp always decrease picture and video quality, if u want it 100% than u should select document and search for your photo or video.

I know this.
Tried the adjustment of the screen but problem remains.
And as I stated in my post; i know quality decreases on whatsapp video messaging (wich makes sense). But in this case the video's go to totally different to no colour, lighting changes, etc. etc.
I know you can expect some quality decrease, but this is absurd.
I keep trying new things but I'm still shocked at the camera, every photo looks blury. I'm not getting a crisp photo no matter what i do.
Iv given up with the 64mp mode as they are the worse pictures! So one of the phones biggest selling points rite there is useless.
10mp does auto focus faster but the lag between pressing the shutter button and it actually taking causes photo blur
Its pretty ok i think

Try to send the photos taken with extreme contrast. If it's still appears on other ppls phone with extreme contrast.
I had this issue.. I noticed photo abnormally warm and over saturated. Then after I transfer the photo to pc, it looks just fine.
Then i saw somewhere on xda, try changing the display setting from vivid to natural. It's much better.

I can't anymore. After three weeks I sold mine. Dissapointed in Samsung. Looking for a K30 Pro now or even an Iphone 11.

Same here, got rid of mine, got a p30 pro... amazing.
I read on sammobile that they don't think they can fix some of the issues with the exynos chip. Some of the side by side comparison tests with the Snapdragon may as well be a different phone

Subtle purple edge tint in very low light? (S20+)

Anybody else noticing an extremely subtle light purple-ish haze on the edges of extremely low light photos - i.e. where the dark/black areas are in a low light photo around the edges?
It's subtle. It's a reach to see it at times. But this is an expensive phone, so I'm going to nitpick... It reminds me of the old issues with the HTC One M7 and some older Motorola devices, though on a much more subtle level. I'm probably crazy, but I know I'm seeing it at times.
Snapdragon S20+ here (Verizon variant)
Ok, so I realize it would've helped my first post with some photos and additional info. Please keep in mind, I love the camera on this phone 90% of the time, but this 10% is an issue that reminds me of the old days (per my first post). I have two sets of photos... First are the originals, uploaded, and added into Photoshop with a black "frame" to help you see the haze better. The second set is a photo from my iPhone of what those photos look like on my S20's screen. Reality lies somewhere in between the two. The second set over-emphasizes more than what I see on the screen, and the first set mutes it too much. These photos are night mode photos, which I realized after my first post helps to accentuate and show the issue.
Ultimately the problem seems to be how the software and/or sensor are handling the extremes when you have a bright light source as the focal point, and dark outer edges (again, reminiscent of oooold devices). Anyway, the photos are attached. Hopefully that help clarifies it a bit more. It's nitpicky, as there aren't many scenarios where this would come up. But it's a $1k+ phone... I feel like I'm allowed to be nitpicky.
Is it always on the left side of the phone screen? i.e. always on the top of the phone? or does it change to either side when you rotate the phone (could be on the top or bottom sides)? I have not observed this purple thint issue, but your third photo shows that it is extremely bad.

No, it's more pronounced on the left there due to the lighting in that situation. But if you look at the fourth picture you can see it's relatively even on both sides where things start to darken.

I'm not saying it's normal, I too suffered from the HTC M7 syndrome but in those specific photos, is the purple haze coming from a TV light on your left? Is there any tv screen running when you took the pictures?

No - no TV's on anywhere. The purple haze is coming from the especially dark areas.
Just checked on mine s20+ exynos, other than very minor green tint no issues, if i were you i would replace it asap - something isnt right

I bought an unlocked S20 (+ was too large for me anyway) and tested it last night in the exact same spot and exact same scenario, and very little haze at all with no purple. I can see what it's trying to do - it's trying to lighten up those darker areas, but for some reason on that S20+ it was making it purple-ish and just plane ugly. It doesn't look "great" on the regular S20, but it's at least not purple and clearly just trying to lighten it up. S20+ is already on its way back for the return.

I've just updated mine I'll try out the camera shortly. I think it was lacking in that department so if they've addressed it happy days.
I think so too and I can't say I like it more.. Oversharpening got better but it's still a bit much and the photos are still too contrasty, I really hope they reduce the contrast in a future update. Darker colors get too crushed and it doesn't look realistic.

I have the same feelings even with the latest update I think it still captures over contrasty photo's some time.

As per I am noticing it seems like the colours are punchier in photo's than before.
Check what you have your screen calibration set to before you judge your photos, having it set to Vivid or Amoled Wide Gamut or P3 will give the illusion of very colourful photos when they're not. I keep my display at either Natural or sRGB since they are the two flattest profiles.

Question Heavy lense flare in night shots

Does everyone have these extreme lense flares / reflections on night shots? Don't think I've ever seen it this bad... Hopefully they'll be able to improve this through software updates
Lens flare is a big problem on the P6P even during the day when the sun rays hit at an angle #Won'tFix Unfortunately it's a lens problem and can't be fixed with software
If not fixed I hope it can be reduced... Is extreme in some cases
I haven't noticed a single flare at all with night shots the street lights or even in doors in direct lighting, sometimes at a certain angle in previous phones I have had it but nothing on my p6p
Yeah, it's bad.
Not as much as that but I do get that.

Yeah. I went to a festival here in Korea called the lantern festival, so it's held mostly at night and I had a buncha shots I had to throw away because of the flare, and a lot were hazy, I thought maybe it was my camera lens being dirty but the next shot was fine after the processing.
Haze and lens flare
Haze
45 degree turn from the previous photo, no issues
One of the better shots but too much HDR
I'm having massive lens flare on my pro like you op. other photos in this thread are acceptable imo. I can't tell if there's an issue or not. it's horrible, no matter what street light or x-mas light its pointed at. and night mode shots, forget it. too bad there's no way tom compare shots unless they are side by side.
running the latest 8.4.300.xxx18 version for the camera app. it drastically fixed front camera preview. so not sure if this issue will be fixed or if my cam is effed (no lens protector and tried it with no case also)
Come on guys when you say you aren't getting any flare. It depends how close you are to street lights. It doesn't happen at a distance from strong street lights. I get it on P6P and am sure you will if you try it. It is not faulty as I had same issue on S21 Ultra main lens but not as severe. Here's a shot I took

Need to be much closer
Here more examples closer to light and further away
My opinion is, that P6P has problem with the flares, but main problem I see is that Nightsight tries to lighten up the scene, and thinks that the flares are shadows that should be lightened up. But I admit, I pointed my pixel to light source and id did show some flaring, but not as much as your photos.

Nah man, maybe to some degree, but this is ridiculous. I still have my previous phone, Oppo Find X2 Pro, and it's not even nearly as bad there. I'll post some side-by-side comparison shots soon
P6 (Pro) has heavy lens flare, it's a known problem. Hopefully Google can somehow tune it down with software updates.
What also helps is making sure that the lens is pristine, meaning you need to make sure its properly cleaned before you make photos. Even a little bit of smudge or dust or something can cause lens flare. Hopefully that means it's a software thing-y.
It's got absolutely nothing to do with dirty lens, that purple lens flare is light bouncing off the lens or sensor inside.

Are you talking from experience? Having the camera bump cleaned does help with lens flare, just try it out yourself. There was a reddit discussion about this and people were adamant about it, I tried it out and it somewhat helps.
Also, your "logic" is not quite thorough.
If there is dirt/smudge/whatever above the lens/camera, of course that could cause lens flare, since that will reflect/redirect light. With a rough surface, reflected light rays scatter in all directions.
For reference
I get lens flare when using Canon L lenses (and one of them retails just under £2000) it is the nature of the beast shooting into bright sources of light though a lens.

Correct, some degree of lens flare is almost unavoidable. The P6 has, however, relatively heavy/often lens flare present - that was not present (as heavily) in previous Pixel phone iterations/sensors. Hopefully Google can somehow tune this down. It's distracting and most often or not ruins an otherwise great shot.
