How to get past, "This apk is split. Use root or privileged installation method." - LineageOS Questions & Answers

How to get past, "This apk is split. Use root or privileged installation method."
I get that error messages now and again when installing some apks from alternate stores (Yalp, Aptoid, Racoon, etc.). Why and how can I get beyond this?
I do not run any GApps on my device, and I do not have any of the play services framework installed.
I've been able to pull the apk from another source at times, install it, and then update it from the other apk repository store without issue. I'm stuck with one apk right now; however, that I cannot install.
edit: The particular apk I was working on I found a workaround. On a different repository I was able to identify an older version that was not split. However, I still cannot update the app due to the split structure.

i have the same , for the app "Twitter" . Has it ever been solved

Apk is split
Hello!
I too have problem with "apk is split".
I find it strange that this became a problem with few apps all of the sudden - with apps that I have been using for a year and never had problems to download from Yalp.
What changed? Is this problem somehow conected with Lineages OS, or with Yalp, or google trying to make it hard for lineage users to use it, or is this just problem with app? If so, why is that?
If no luck with yalp store or other repositories is it safe to download apk file from sites that browser finds them like appsapk.com or apkspure.com etc...
Or is there any other way? To re-split them?
Thank you for help and greetings !
I am using Lineage 15.1 microg on Mido (Redmi note 4). Tried the same on official Lineage OS 15.1 and also with open gapps. Seems like it makes no difference.

[INSTALL_FAILED_CONTAINER_ERROR] When installing minecraft pe apk

I've been having this problem for quite a while now but I have been able to avoid until now, every time I try and install Minecraft PE apk via package installer it says "app not installed" I thought maybe installing it through lucky patcher would work but unfortunately it just provides me with the error above. I've tried Google searching and trying everything but it seems to be a common issue with app developers and their solutions haven't worked for me

I've encountered this same error on trying to install Google Game on my lad's tablet. It's running candyrom which is also based on Lollipop.
I came across a suggestion that this error occurs when an app is trying to re-declare an existing permission (and mainly affects apps that are based on adobe air??) but haven't found a solution. Something to do with code implementation in Lollipop but one which Google apparently resolved with the release of v5.0.1........
I use this url https://apps.evozi.com/apk-downloader/?id=com.google.android.play.games and download the app to install, then fix the problem ,now it can update in play store

Xiaomi EU (MIUI) Update and Google Maps

I have recently updated my operating system to the latest stable by Xiaomi EU (by updated, I mean I have wiped and fresh installed the latest one).
All is well however the official Google Maps app is "not compatible with your device" now in the Play Store.
All other apps install just fine along with some other Google apps I use like Translate.
Does anyone know why this has happened?
I have also wiped and fresh installed previous versions of the Xiaomi EU builds in an effort to get this working but no luck.....Weird because it no longer works on builds it HAS previously worked on..
Thanks for reading, and thank you in advance for any feedback.

It seems a Google bug affecting chiron. Just change device's fingerprints. I choose Pixel 2, but you can use Mi Mix 2s, as you wish. You should be able to update or install Google Maps.

You are awesome, thank you.
Kinda unfortunate about the bug, means no matter what ROM we use it's gonna be the same. Hopefully they fix soon.
I have the same issue... but help, how to change device's fingerprints?

I just checked the play store and the bug seems to be fixed!
If you still have the issue, download a build.prop editor and change the device's build.prop file.
You'll need to change the parts which state the model of the phone for example "device name: chiron"
By changing this to something like "Polaris" (Mix 2s) instead of "chiron" it will trick Google.
Edit: You will need to be rooted. And I recommend BuildProp Editor by JRummy Apps
It's solved!

Right now, 9.3.28 (beta) but this was a Google issue, not a ROM issue.

Search in settings not working

Hello,
Just installed LineageOS 18.1 (scorpio) + Google apps and noticed that the search in settings doesn't work at all. I can type words in there, but they are never found. Any clues?
TIA
Works fine here, LOS18 on X00TD, YTX703L and s5neolte without GApps.
To find the culprit: Did you try copy-paste (instead of typing)? Re-install? Or get rid of Google, just try vanilla LOS (even though that worked with GApps for me some weeks ago for S5Neo).
edit: Perhaps some older version would work?

Hello,
I typed the words in. not copy/paste. Tried with boath Google keyboard and swiftkey. Also tried to clear Settings app data. None worked. I don't want to downgrade because I need Android 11.

Sure but just to rule that out... Perhaps just another previous nightly would do it?

Question Android 13 data/obb file access

I am currently using Project Elixir A13 version. Magisk installed and root access is there but I can't put any files in data/obb folder. Tried most of the steps and apps suggested by various articles and still fails. Any 3rd party root accessible file manager redirects to Googe Files app and stops working. Some doesn't work at all. I've transferred files via PC and it only worked once and now stopped working.
Any suggestions would be really appreciated.
Hello!
Flash the magisk module "NoStorageRestrict" from DanGLES3.
I don't know where i get it, but in some telegram rom group... Cherish maybe... Don't know.
Cumps.
Have you tried the AOSP Files Systemapp? On some ROMs this systemapp in hidden from App Drawer.

No Magisk module available for that on github. Will look into Telegram.
