Replacing the stock splash screen. - Google Pixel 2 XL Questions & Answers

Is it possible to change the splash screen? I've managed to customize the boot animation to a dark one but the bright white splash screen just before pretty much makes it pointless.
Any advice on changing it? Is it even possible? I know on older devices it was but I can't find anything in relation to it and the Pixel devices.
Thanks for reading.

[Q] Change Charging screen?

Hey, i'm trying to change the boring charging screen that the Nexus has, you know what i mean...? that drawl white battery that fills up with white then restarts..
I was rooting around in my root.. and i came across the images for it in /res/images/charger I tried replacing the images, but every time i re-boot the OS re-asserts the original images. Is there something i'm doing wrong? is it possible to change this?
Thanks.

Odd stuck white pixel?

Hey XDA, wanted to get thoughts or suggestions on this.
I noticed what appears to be a stuck pixel on my m8 today, but it doesn't seem to make a lot of sense to me.
Pixel appears to be stuck on (all white), but is only visible on lighter images such as white backgrounds and other lighter colors. Not visible on gray or black images, which seems counter intuitive.
I've restarted several times, run a pixel fix app for about twenty minutes, and verified it's also visible in TWRP recovery, so definitely appears to be hardware.
Any thoughts on a fix, or why it's only visible on lighter backgrounds although is "stuck on" and all white itself? I'd figure it would be more readily visible on dark scenes, but nope!
Thanks in advance for any input.

Im not quite sure how the display works, but maybe the darker images dont activate or light up that actual pixel? Anyways, why dont you bring it to your dealer?

[Q] Is there any way to completely 'black out' the booting process?

As of right now, everything during my boot process has a dark theme except for a white screen that says Google and has an unlock icon at the bottom. This screen is rather blinding I darker light. Thanks to substratum, I have just about everything darkened in some fashion to not only save my eyes, but also that sweet battery life.
Isn't a significant concern, but more of a discordance in my system's general theme.

No fix for that one at the moment! However, I would definitely agree with you on the blinding aspect. Which is why I don't look at it during a reboot!! ???
I think there was a bounty for this for someone to change it in the OG pixel thread, and the time I was there, no one was able to modify it.
Seems like this Pixel 2 is only tougher in regards to development, so I wouldn't get my hopes up :silly:
Any chance that someone has come across a solution for this since?
None have showed up yet....

Can I adjust the white point on the pixel 3 XL?

Hi. I've got astigmatism and a high white point makes it very difficult to read on the screen. If I could describe it, the white and the black will mix together and create halos on the screen and this puts strain on my eyes. Is there anyway to reduce the white point on the pixel 3 XL? I think this will make the screen flow easier on my eyes. Thank you.

I have. I don't think they make a difference. The iPhone does have a setting to adjust the white point. I don't know if rooting and a custom kernel will enable me to do so.

There is Color Control in EX Kernel Manager. I'm not positive if it's available with the stock kernel so you might need one of the custom ones. It's under tools/color control.
