flash stock boot.img from your ROM version and install all from zero

I'm on GSI (pixelexperience) rooted with magisk and loving it. I will like to install TWRP however. Kindly outline how to go about it. Thank you.

Will this TWRP work with Oreo? Or only Pie? Does it matter?
Also, are installation instructions the same as the "official" version?

I dont think its a bug or missing feature but it is missing in the wipe page. you can just mount it but no format/wipe or whatsoever. Then also add support for adapted storage. Thanksss

I am considering installing this TWRP. I am already rooted with Magisk and stock recovery. Will installing this TWRP mess with my Magisk boot and cause bootloops?
Oh, and does backup/restore work with this version or not?
Thanks!

I installed this TWRP tonight but either I don't understand or have done something wrong...or both.
TWRP v 3.2.3-0 is installed but I have no access to the external SD card. I followed the instructions from the "Official" thread but I booted to the TWRP from post #7 of this thread, then ran the installer from the "official" thread. If this is wrong, then please explain because there aren't any real clear instructions for this.
Thanks

[Recovery][Official]TWRP for Xperia M

Team Win Recovery Project is a custom recovery built with ease of use and customization in mind. It has a fully touch driven user interface. The GUI is also fully XML driven and completely theme-able. You can change just about every aspect of the look and feel.

Installation/updating instructions and download links can be found on official device page. It is preferred to use official builds unless it is said otherwise in thread, so make sure you have read at least a couple of last pages.
My home builds can be downloaded here (link to the always latest build), it is useful when the latest official build is outdated and for testing new features. Site may sometimes be down due to maintenance.
And, as you remember, we are not responsible for bricked devices, accidental pregnancy or asteroid impact (BTW, this thread is created at Asteroid day).
Warning! Read attentively this post and F.A.Q. below and at least 5 pages of thread before installing this and posting here! Or Dark Lord will come to punish you and take your shallow soul! Also I kill innocent kittens every time when I see someone installs it via fastboot/flashtool. So save kittens and don't ignore provided info.
It uses the same FOTAKernel install method as recoveries in this thread, so you don't need to install it every time you change your ROM or kernel. Also it doesn't work on stock ROM, 'cause we don't have stock kernels supporting extract_elf_ramdisk utility.
To remove recovery from your FOTAKernel follow this (you will use recovery from your boot image after it).
Official TWRP website — here you can find more info about recovery itself, versions changelog, donation URL etc.
Thanks to:
@Dees_Troy and all other TWRP devs
@PecanCM for initial device tree
Linus Torvalds for Linux Kernel, it would not be possible without him

F.A.Q. Must be read before installing and posting in the thread!
Q: Is it a kernel?
A: No, it isn't. It is a recovery image, but it is not booting independently, the kernel is using its ramdisk to load recovery. More... (extract_elf_ramdisk is deprecated in some ROMs and kernels, now its functions are implemented in init binary directly, read additional explanation from the next question if you are curious about how it works)
Q: Can I install it via Flashtool/fastboot?
A: No. For holy sake, don't do this! Here is explanation.
Q: Can I flash it with Rashr app?
A: Yes. But flash it as recovery, not as kernel! Read explanation above if you wonder why.
Q: Do I need to flash it every time I update my ROM?
A: No.
Q: Does it work with stock ROM?
A: No.
Q: TWRP says "Unmodified system partition" and asks to allow modifications or keep system read-only.
A: Tick "Never ask" and swipe. You can press "Keep read-only", but that really has no use on our device as we no more receive official OTA and ^look previous question^.

You are confusing it with repartitioning. Lollipop uses block-based OTA. Some of devices have versions with different storage capacity (e.g. 16 and 32 Gb). And when you install system image for the device with 16 Gb on device with 32 Gb you will have system partition like in 16Gb-version. Also, sometimes custom ROMs' system image is a little bit "cut". So, resize2fs fixes it, you will have as many system storage, as can handle your system partition. And this function is not very useful for our device.

Recovery in zip in other topic is compiled on my PC. Image file on TWRP download server is compiled by official TWRP build-bot. There is no difference in them, 'cause they share the same source code (but maybe official TWRP build uses a little bit older code, snapshoot when current version was released).

We’re really excited to announce the release of Paranoid Android Pie betas.
On first launch, you’ll notice a clean setup with a beautiful wallpaper from Hampus Olsson, who teamed up with us again to create several beautiful pieces of artwork. For those who are unfamiliar, Hampus is a multi-disciplinary artist whose design stands itself and we’re glad to have him onboard. We also added further UI touches that we believe enhances the overall user experience.
The beta builds include adjustments and improvements on top of the stock Android CAF base. The Paranoid Android team and contributors are focusing on squashing existing bugs, and implementing and improving features.
Device-specific issues
- DT2W

a many thanks @33bca for your hard work you put into developing for our a2 lite
what bothers me most before trying your pa rom is the question if i can revert back to stock (inlcuding a/B Partitons and Stock Recovery, Encryption ) without any problem ? and if so what steps do i have to do to revert back to stock ?
normaly i would just make a backup from within twrp of my stock Phone and then do a restore if needed but as i unterstand it right thats not possible at the moment with the extisting versions of twrp for our a2 lite ? so maybe just get a2 lite into fastboot mode and flash an original fastboot image ?
Nice thanks ?
and some more questions @33bca on your instructions to install the rom:
Requirements
* Required * firmware version must be based on P-based builds.
so one must have 10.0.3.0 or 10.0.4.0 version of stock firmware on the a2 lite?
Formatting data (all user data is wiped, including internal storage) is a must if the storage was encrypted previously.
how do i find out if phone is encrypted or not ? if i goto settings and then security & location - advanced and if there under encryption and credentials at encrypt phone it says encrypted - then i have to format data (from whithin stock rom or from within twrp ?
Instructions:
Boot recovery from fastboot (TWRP recovery for Mi A2 Lite)
so here i use your bootable twrp img file (from your first link) with the command "fastboot boot recovery twrp-daisy-3.2.3-0-offain.img" ?
Format /system and /data
ist this the step you mention in the requirements or to i have to do this additionally to the step in the requirements ?
Install AOSPA zip package
just flash your pa rom within twrp ?
Install [optional] TWRP flashable
so here i flash the twrp (flashable from your second link) within twrp ?
and finally when should the "Forced encryption disabler" be flashed right after first time booting into twrp or after formating system and data ?
Yeah I need more detailed instructions to get this work ?

OrangeFox source : OrangeFox
Known bugs :
You tell me?
Flashlight doesn't work (disabled anyway)
Protect recovery itself with a password works only when not encrypted (maybe in a future version with encryption enabled too)
Working: :
Everything else:
backing up and restoring
decryption and therefore usage of internal storage in recovery
flashing zips
removing crypto
...
FoxRecovery features :
Very fresh UI
Based on latest TWRP, with a lots of additions
Lot of useful file manager features (uncompress, compress, display text files, ...)
Built-in support for installing/removing Magisk and managing installed modules
Built-in support for installing init.d functionality
Built-in all the zip files needed for our V30, they are copied to /sdcard/Fox/FoxFiles
Customizations : lockscreen, password, status bar, ...
Theme engine
Updated with latest TWRP commits
Support for Custom ROMs
Better language support
Optimized versions of community scripts
Fox theme engine:
- choice of theme (black, dark, etc)
- choice of color scheme
- choice of splash screen
Alternative lockscreen
And many more!
Additional :
Used busybox instead of toolbox for increased zip compatibility
Used magiskboot 20.3 instead mkbootimg for all kernel operations: better, but a bit slower, according to OFox Team
Screenshots : Look here
F2FS support
Added "reboot to EDL" button (not working, removed in next version)
Updated Magisk and magiskboot binaries to latest 20.3
Included RCTD remover zip
INSTALLATION:
Backup your ROM, your data, your internal storage, and your settings/apps, to an external device: just to be on the sure side, as always
Download the OrangeFox zip file to your device
Reboot to your TWRP Recovery
Install the OrangeFox zip file as a normal zip
The device will automatically reboot into OrangeFox recovery after installation (allow this to happen)
After rebooting have a look at your sdcard in FoxFiles folder: you will find all the necessary files to flash for getting your V30 running flawlessly after kdz-ing there (RCTD remover, Magisk, unroot Magisk, disable dm-verity and force_encrypt, lockscreen settings remover (when userdata with lockscreen settings is restored) and init.d support; most of them not needed (beside magisk maybe) if a TWRP flashable firmware zip was used)
Also have a look at Menu -> Fox Addons, App Manager and Magisk Manager
Enjoy!

RC3 Build from 2020-02-23: (latest)
2nd build, changelog over RC2:
- corrected blocksize for formatting crypto related partitions
- included timezone data, maybe helps some ppl with time still not showing correct; should speed up time calc
- used pre-compiled full mke2fs and e2fsdroid binaries
- enabled ntfs experimental support (rw in kernel, NTFS_3G flag in twrp / ofox)
- minimal tweaks
- ofox zip will not patch for dmverity/forceencrypt anymore automatically when flashing it
- nano editor should be included (command line editor)
- log history on sdcard disabled: no more millions of logfiles, only the last one
- recovery security lockscreen is working now, but only when userdata is not encrypted. if it is, the recovery login screen will just disapper after waiting a short period of time
- changed an error message for less confusion (crypto related)

We changed nothing in R10.1 with splash customization. Looks like mkbootimg in your build is broken.

Which ROM are you using? You didn't try to encrypt right?
You could try flashing twrp using adb as a workaround I guess

Question Custom recover for Xperia 10 III

I want to know any compatible custom recovery for Xperia 10 III. I tried installing TWRP but that ended up bricking my phone.
I don't know if it helps but it is an XQ-BT52.

It is sufficient for custom roms
I have a small request. Can you send me system and vendor partitions? Or at least tell me how to get it.
In LG, I could use qfil for this. In Sony I can't do that anymore
In adb I don't see vendor and system

For encryption, you can just decrypt it after installing twrp. Then you'll be able to see your sdcard no problem.

No, when I add qcom encryption & blobs recovery no boot...
Without encryption stuff its boot but I get 0mb internal storage
Has there been any progress on the matter yet?
It would be really great if we have the ability to flash unsigned zip files.
@ada12 can you provide me your TWRP build?
I would love to test it.
Even without working decryption it would be a huge added value
@psychofaktory what are you trying to accomplish with the recovery? There's a Magisk module (Backup, by Draco) which gives you a command line tool that dumps partition images, and you can flash them with fastboot. I've dumped the boot partition and compared the checksum with the one I flashed (the one patched by Magisk) and they're identical.
There's also a stock recovery that's very limited but allows you to do factory reset.
It would give the ability to flash unsigned zip files.
This guy has a twrp tree for 10 III. Maybe it can be built and used. Optionally, we can modify the tree from 10 II.

I have no shared in public any build because its unusable for user , twrp boot but impossible to mount internal storage , we simply cant flash gapps zip and more ... I need help from pro twrp dev for encryption but seem nobody care for this devices.
they are no sources twrp usable for lena
Would it work to disable the encryption temporarily so that the internal memory of TWRP does not have to be decrypted at all?
It would be really awesome if more developers would show interest in the device.
It's a really great device with a lot of potential.
Can anyone provide TWRP for Xperia 10 III?
