Huawei watch 1 - Nothing looks as good - Huawei Watch

Hey
Am I the only person that thinks there isn't another smart watch that looks as good as the Huawei watch 1? I mean it's not too bulky and looks like a cool normal watch. I have a black one. I wish they would just release a new version with the same body but updated hardware. The only thing that irritates me is the notification buzz, it's too loud. I'f i'm at work it's annoying for the people around me. Other than that I think it's really cool. Had it for a good few years now.
Any just sharing my thoughts

Still using mine and it's absolutely amazing. Won't be changing it any time soon. Great watch.

Only just stopped using mine and it's simply down to the fact it doesn't have NFC. Still the best watch IMO, just lacking that one feature I like

I picked up a used one a couple of weeks ago and I love it. It looks GREAT, still runs very smoothly, and the display still seems to be one of the best around.

Fossil Q Gen 5 Carlyle looks good too, but is the new kid on the block ahahah

I actually just managed to bring up new life in my Huawei W1 by changing its battery myself(a lot easier than I thought...saw a youtube video). Got a battery from Aliexpress. The old one was very swollen.
Now it runs just as smooth as when I first got it.
Too bad that now I also want the Fossil 5 Gen(only because of NFC...and rotating bezel...and hopefully better charging procedure that does not require fiddling every damn time)

Just picked one up off kijiji for $100 CAD. Loved it the moment i saw it when it came out but didn't agree with Huawei's pricing. It IS beautiful, but people were not gonna spend that money on a brand that (back in those days) ppl didn't really know. It was always been on my mind. Jumped at the chance to get it. It's just a BEAUTIFUL watch! I get more compliments on it than on anything else. Just got back from 2 weeks in California. Tons of ppl asking me 'What the hell is that?!', followed by, "Wow! Nice!"

great watch, really loved mine. used it for 4 years......then the chargers started dying, 1 after another.....4 chargers later...the watch wont charge., only sometimes...was really sad

Have you tried polishing the contacts on the back of the watch? Same happened to mine, would only charge sometimes and only if the charger was in exactly the right place. Gave it a good clean and polish on the watch contacts (not the charger) and it's been working great since

What was your procedure for clean and polish? I've tried but it gets bad again pretty quickly.

I've got a dremmel / rotary tool thing that has a polishing attachment - I use that around the contacts then wipe down with a microfibre cloth afterwards.

I just got a GT2 for Christmas, which I really like. However my W1 is still the best looking smart watch.... If only Wear OS didn't suck battery so quick when on full sync. If sync is off I get several days of use, but sync on and I get a day and a bit if lucky. Whereas the GT2 will get a couple of weeks...

I think the GT2 looks better. How are you dealing with the lack of wearOS features? I have an original Huawei watch, looking at a GT/

Didn't use most features day to day so I'm fine.

I just bought the MK Lexington 2 Gold, loved the look of the watch, absolutely gorgeous...BUT... My 3 + Year old HW1 still gets better battery life and unfortunately neither live up to the Samsung GW 46mm. Still love and use my HW1, but it doesn't go on business trips.
BTW I returned the Mk.

MOTO 360 thread of "omg i want one!!"

Finally a smart watch that takes style in consideration, more here http://www.androidcentral.com/hands-moto-360 the concept of a watch that connects with your phone is a bit frivolous i suppose, but it's kinda like a kid's dream come true in a sense, if you were a kid that watched too many James Bond flicks like myself.

But of all the models released so far the only one that actually pleased me design-wise was a freaking case for the iPod nano, all the android variants looked cheap or clunky until this one. Sadly there's no price, release date or even concrete details on hardware but it's already a winner judging by the looks to me.
I must add that mororola has grown so much in the last few years, the Moto X/G/E line of phones is fantastic and if this watch is a sign of things to come I can't wait to see what's next for them.
I looked at the LG and Samsung Watches which are available now I think, I thought they looked really ugly. But this one looks proper classy. Might have to purchase I think, depending on the price.
Sent from my Moto G on MoKee, using XDA app.
Looks the best of all options I have seen so far. I could be tempted. The rumor running around it that it will be released same time as the Moto X+1, in the August to September timeframe. Since I'm due for a new work phone, I'm actually more interested in the X+1 than the watch. Funny I always wore a watch daily until about 6 to 8 years ago when I started to rely 100% on my blackberry. Now I'm considering a watch to support my phone? I will probably resist the temptation and spend the $ on beer.

Yes, QI from people that saw it at Google IO. No battery tests that I know of yet, but I would imagine they would shoot for 2 to 3 days of light use.

yeah, not much else to add so far

can't wait to have one :silly:
Holy ****, shut up and take my money !
It probably won't be waterproof.
So I'd go with the pebble steel... But on the other side, I want android wear... However, the 360 and the G would be an awesome duet, ironically the watch will probably be the more expensive device....

Ip67 means it's immune to water for about thirty minutes in water with a max depth of four feet.
You can't go swimming with it, whilst the pebble is totally water resistant.

Read at PCMag that Best Buy has leaked the specs and price (around 250$). Anyway, Motorola will announce it as well as 2 new smartphones (2nd Moto G? and Moto X+1 probably).
Any release date yet ?
On the IFA they said in October for 249 €.
I am currently rocking Pebble and I am completely in love with the idea of smartwatch.
360 looks aweeeesooome, but I have concerns.
The first one is battery. The Pebble works for around 3-4 days normally, which I think is ook. But if the 360 will be able to run only for a day (as nost smartphones do) I think it will ruin the smartwatch experience.
The second one is that I live in Latvia and moat of my communication happens in Latvian. Seeing that google concentrated on bringin Google Now as the main interaction way, voice input unsupported languages will miss a loot of the functionality of the device and generally will lack the functions in different regions.

That black bar..

Returned it. Appalling battery life and lag

Lag...Lag...LAG!
My freaking lord the Moto 360 lags like an old gingerbread phone! Barely responds to taps, struggles to load animations and basic things... Ugh.
And the battery was JUST pathetic. 6 hours annnnnddd.... Dead. Worthless.
After conducting my tests I can offically say...as much as I hate to say it.... The moto 360 is a complete failure.
Do not buy it. Wait for the next gen watches.
Off the charge at 730am, now 1030pm, 39% left.
Don't notice any lag.
Have fun!
Sounds like you used it without the out of box update.

No lag here. Off charger at 8am, now it's 8pm, 58% left, after 20+ text messages, 30+ email notifications.

Mines off the charger at 630am and back on at 11pm. If that's not considered all day I don't know what is... Granted I'm down to 10% but it's still alive.
I do notice some lag sometimes though but it really doesn't bother me. You must have the screen on all the time at full brightness or something.

Now I'm wondering whether OP actually owned a 360 at all... with mine it forced me to charge to 80% and then forced update, there's no way you could use it without updating...
The lag is bad. Wish it was smooth like my G Watch
Definitely does have some lag compared to the G Watch which is smooth....but after a few days my battery is actually up to par with the G Watch. That's to say after a 16 hour day I still have 10-20% battery life. Works for me!
I'm on my second cycle and so far, so good. Unplugged at 7:21 am. It's 9:08 am and I'm at 94%. Did disconnect from the phone(OnePlus One) for about half an hour and battery remained at 96. Connected it back, and after 15 minutes, dropped to 94. Have had 3 texts already, 2 emails. other notifications that don't wake the watch. Checked the time about 8 times by using the motion sensor. I think it'll last.
As to lag, yes, there is lag. Animations do drop frame. But it's not bad enough for me to be unhappy. Still asking why in God's name did Motorola not use the Snapdragon 400.
Sent from my OnePlusOne
Coming from a Pebble, Pebble Steel, LG G Watch, to now my beloved Moto 360. Battery decreased significantly since the pebble obviously. From the G Watch to the 360, there is slight lag, but nothing a custom rom can't fix , but it's fine and tolerable because of the look of the 360. I am willing to compromise a bit for the style, even though the G watch was slightly better on the operating side of things. For me, the looks have the me wearing my 360 since I got it and I have a few other watches, which are left in my watch box for later use lol.
Back to the battery issue. After the first week, the battery has lasted 12 hrs easy; on average, I get about 5% discharge per hour with heavy usage of calls, emails and notifications. Bump that up to ~7% after using navi for about a half hour or so.

A Story

A story, by 640k
I have been fascinated by the Moto360 since its initial hype. I had hope it was the smartwatch I was looking for, in an attractive package. Reviews passed, days passed, inventory passed and I still had yet to pull the trigger. It was a Thursday and I managed to leave my gym clothes at home (I usually work out at lunch). Instead of exercising that day, I went and spent money.
Actually, what had transpired that day was this; After a few days of stalking the watch online and coming up short with various methods of wedging in a discount, I finally stumbled across a slickdeals thread that explained if you can find a returned watch at your local Best Buy, you can use a 10% off coupon and get one for less than $200. I was stoked. Ready to buy my first smartwatch, I started checking inventory of my local stores.
All of the Best Buy stores near me had nothing in stock, not even a new one, but for some reason that day I decided to head there anyway. Once I entered the store, I realized I had no idea where to go. It wasn't a smartphone, it wasn't a tablet, and it wasn't in their fitness tracking device section. Where would they place this watch? After some quick guidance, I was led to a display. In the display was exactly one black and one silver Moto360. I played with the demo watches a few times. I picked up the box a few times. I put it on my wrist a few times. I even walked away. Twice.
My lunch hour was running short and so was my decision. I knew that even if I purchased this watch online, I would succumb to taxes. I took the plunge. I rushed back to the office with my purchase (and my cooling lunch) and hurried back to my desk. I ripped open the box (and my lunch) and almost immediately started charging it. I joked around with my friends on Lync about what my wife would say through all of this. I planned for the worst.
That night I kind of hid the watch by keeping my arm under the table. I could tell my wife was suspicious. I could feel her glaring at the watch to determine if she had seen it before. Finally upon putting my 4 y/o to bed, she demanded, "did you get a new watch?" I paused. I answered, "yup."
"How much was that?"
"I got a really good deal!"
The conversation kind of ended. I felt like I escaped unscathed. Not much else was said but I could tell I was being judged. Little did I know, my wife had no idea what I actually purchased. My kids figured it out before she did. Fast forward to the weekend. Pandora is streaming on the ChromeCast. I show the kids how I've got the images from the music playing on my watch. They think it's kind of neat but are not sure why. The wife walks in.
I get a glare. Then, a snide comment (and probably an eye roll). She's busy, so she moves along.
By this time I feel as she's figured out the situation. The watch doesn't come up in conversation again, until last night. I get an email on my phone and immediately check my watch. I read the email, then dismiss it.
"Did you just check something on your phone with your watch?"
"Yeah!"
"OMG, smartphones are ruining society, you don't have to be connected ALL THE TIME!"
It took my wife all of five days for her to realize what I had purchased and I now know to expect another snide remark about connectivity, etc. (while she's got her face buried in her Facebook).
LONG STORY SHORT, I LOVE THIS WATCH!

I like your story 640k. I went into a Best Buyt thinking if they had one in stock I would buy one. Of course they had one left so I bought it. My wife came home later that night and I immediately told her I had bought a smartwatch. After a couple of questions she let me be.
Every now and then she sees me glance at my watch and swipe away a notification and says that is kind of cool.
I have a story. It's a short one.

On pace for over 8 hours SOT. This phone is a beast!
I had a much better one two days ago, but I didn't get a screen shot.
I average well over a full work day with more than 7+ hours of SOT.
I don't use a dark theme, but it's not a bright theme either. No power save use ever. I use bluetooth and headphones to listen to music throughout the day. Plenty of web surfing and media related tasks. I don't play games.
I believe I get better battery performance following charging via wireless instead of the Rapid Charger. It's just been my overall experience so far.

This version of the Note has me the most disappointed. I got less than 12 hours of use out of the phone, with it in ultra power saving mode for more that 50% of that time, just texting. I had my Note 4 with me as well, using that to listen to music, watch Netflix, and read on the Nook app, with wi-fi turned on but no cellular, bluetooth, or gps turned on, but I had over 50% battery left when the Note 5 died.
Battery life is great on this thing.

AT&T never actually stopped using Carrier IQ. They were just doing a better job hiding it (or getting the phone manufacturer to bury it so deep that it's nearly impossible to remove.)
FML and I can't root my phone and get rid of it.. IT's causing my Android System to go nuts and always consume the most battery... This is disappointing.

AT&T has a 14 day return policy. If you are still within it, why not return the phone and get something else?
Yeah I'm within the 14 day return policy but nothing on the market is better than the Note 5 in terms of overall package. Guess I'll just ride it out. I like the Note 5 a lot and I guess if I can get a full day of use that's good enough.. Plus Marshmallow should fix a lot of issues that plague Lollipop. Here's to hoping we actually see M before the Note 6 is released..

Samsung isn't terrible when it comes to updating. Especially when you consider the amount of work involved in getting TW ported, and the high number of devices they have.
AT&T, on the other hand, might not accept that update from Samsung until 2017 or later.
I'm very serious when I say that if you keep this phone, accept it how it is today. Assume no bug fixes, no updates and no root. This way, you're prepared for one possible outcome and can only be pleasantly surprised.
(Yes, I'm having to do the same math. You can't imagine how hard it is for me to accept a phone with no root... but it's a good device...)

Guy thinking of buying watch 1 now, is that worth to do so (prices is really low too)? for personal reason i much prefer huawei watch 1 than watch 2.
btw my current smart watch is Gear sport but really tired n piss off with Tizen apps store, most apps need to pay but final result is BAD and samsung do nothing abt it.

No. Everything is crazy slow on it. It's good if you just want a good looking watch that you can check phone notifications on, but if you want to use literally any other features, wait for the next gen of watches that will use Qualcomm's recently announced chip.
Go for it and buy it everything is great with android wear 2.0,I would buy it again..

Sorry, I take back my previous post. I almost never use apps on my watch. I just gave them another try and each one takes a few seconds to open. It's not perfect, but it's not awful. I've been spoiled by my super fast Pixel 2 XL. You're right though, the new processor doesn't seem that much better, so maybe you should just get this one. It's definitely the best looking one on the market still, in my opinion. And you're right, the new cpu isn't that much better. So if you don't mind being stuck on Android 7.1.1, go for it.

This is a great watch with slow update schedule. I use mine daily and would easily recommend it. :good:
thanks guy, bought one SS huawei watch 1 and waiting for delivery, will update soon (sold my gear sport).
Good choice. I still love mine. Its imo the most watch-like smartwatch. And I have receive compliments from friends, family, colleagues and even random strangers in a lift regarding the watch.
Got to agree with the above. Good choice. Huawei got it right first time.
Had mine since the Huawei Watch first launched in the UK. Amazed it is still going so well and I am STILL getting compliments about it. The only thing that would tempt me away from this little masterpiece is if Huawei made a real successor to it.
I think had they not inexplicably reduced the face size in the Watch 2, I would have upgraded. But here we are, still with the Watch 1

my first smart watch (not smart band) is samsung gear sport, i use it for nearly a week but samsung eco system is way too aggressive n galaxy apps quality is really poor, bought some and almost none of it work out of the box ...
than try look for alternative smart watch but almost all is target for health/sport, only watch look a like is huawei watch 1, for me i can wear my huawei band 2 pro or fitbit as monitoring device or gym band., watch 1 as watch.
Yeah my first watch was Moto 360 Sport.. but it had some issues so returned it and got a LG Urbane.. it was nice.. but accidentally killed it with water.. so the got the Huawei Watch 1.. I LOVE it... the Saphire screen.. good battery life.. nice look .. small bezel.. good speaker.. and current on Android Wear OS.. all for around $100 or less... very good value IMO!
