The Notification is so small like Honor 10 unless you particularly observe it you cant find it blinking when there is a notification.

same here!

And would you call it usable then?

I recently purchased to Honor View 20, but the Led notification is not working for me. It seems to be off by default and I have not been able to find how to turn it on. Or possibly it is malfunctioning??

Its so minute that you cant see it properly in bright light, you may check it in dark room and check again.

Yes it's so small even compared to H10.

For my needs it is bright enough, but it is on the slope, so the issue that nova 3 has with sunken led is even more pronounced here and it can only be seen in very unpractical angles.

Is there some sort of trick to enabling it? I have pulse light notification turned on. I do not see any light even in a dark room. I just received my View 20 from the UK today.

The notification light is easy enough to see, when it works! It obviously has a bug as it rarely works. Probably due to the aggressive battery saving.

I didn't see any option for enabling it in my Chinese rom
Give it a reset I guess for any bug

I confirmed with Honor UK support that there is no setting to enable it other than the pulse light notification within the Notifications - More Notification Settings. There are no app specific settings. He said there have been various reports about the LED notification, but most are that it is hard to see. He suggested that I try to check the notification LED first with a phone call (waiting on my new SIM). If that doesn't work, he suggested a hard reset (not from within the Magic OS settings) and then contact the retailer. Those were the only support options provided. I should have my SIM today to verify the call. Other than that, if it is a OS bug, how does one report that to Honor?

No go after the hard reset. It also does not light up when the charger is connected, as it should and is shown in some videos.

Then I assume it's a hardware issue.

It is small, it is though better than the one on the Mate 20 Pro!

[Q] LED Notification Light

What is the deal with the LED Notification light on maguro?
Everyday, at least 1-2 times, the LED does not function correctly.
For example: I receive a SMS or a reminder for a calendar event guess off, the LED will light for a fraction of a second, then turn off.
I see this most often when I have not used my phone for an hour or more.
I experience this problem with completely stock 4.1.1 as well as custom ROMs. Also, with light flow.
Does anyone know if Google has fixed the LED code in more recent versions?

yeah i have had this issue ever since i got my gnex.. havent heard of any "fix" yet
Is this a hardware or software issue?
I also have some trouble with led notification, but I never figured out as precisely as you. Moreover, the led never switches on after a missed call. I tried also with light manager without success.
I'm on stock 4.1.2 rooted with Gnex toolkit.

Did you even bother doing a simple Google search before starting an entirely new (and ridiculous) thread?
yes i did and was bit confused so i started this thread in that video i cant see the led notification at all have a look...

That video is deceiving. Maybe that's an early prototype? The notification light on the ZL is much brighter and longer( length wise). You can't miss it!

It is a very small light. I was expecting the length to stretch more across the phone also.

Its the best looking notification light among all phones out there. At least its not the dull pulsing dot. I always thought the notification light is such an opportunity for the phone to look unique, like make a thin border around the samsung home buttons a NL. Instead manufacturers just put in a dot somewhere like an afterthought. Oh well, at least its better than apple where theres none.

Thats the point of the stamina mode, aint it? It turns off all "goodies" on the phone, so to speak, to obtain better battery life. Maybe try combining Stamina Mode with a third party LED controller?

Its not selective. Stamina mode is simply that - only basic phone (radio) functionality is left on, nothing more, nothing less. Sometimes, even that TINIEST bit of juice matters (think James Franco ). Would you rather make a call or stare at the pretty light for 127 hours
I just got this phone yesterday and a little confused as to if this is a led notification like other phones. It doesn't light up when things like gmail or texts come in. Am I not understanding how this thing works or missing something.

Reset your phone, dont enter any google account info during setup. Uncheck the option to back up your account on Google's servers. Just start up the phone. Notification light should be working perfectly now. For custom colors, use something like LightFlow. There are a few threads on this, please read up

I tried the reset etc but I can't get the notifications to work with Stamina Mode on (I'm on stock with 10.1.a.1.434). I added Messaging to the 'Apps Active in Standby' in stamina mode but no matter.
I like visible notifications but love the Stamina Mode...unless someone knows of a trick I'll stick to Stamina

I have mentioned this before. LED wont work in stamina mode. The fix I gave was for non functioning LED without stamina enabled.
I am not on stock, otherwise I would have tried this. Switch on stamina, install Light Flow and see if you can get it to work.

Ohhh good idea, thx !
Light Flow doesn't make a difference.
I allowed it to be active during standby but no change.
As soon as I turn off Stamina Mode it works fine.
The light is sexy, I'm likely going to just use NFC smarttags to turn on stamina mode (if I can) at night and manage it that way.
Maybe Sony can address this or maybe I'm not getting the whole point of Stamina Mode

There was a bug in older firmware that caused screen to dim out randomly. So upgrade your firmware to B122. The bug is fixed in that.
Yes, also the auto-brightness setting isn't the best in my opinion. Disable that & see if it makes any difference.

I always leave it on auto brightness AND Smart backlight is OFF ! then auto brightness works properly
Display blinks bcos if u have it set on max and u have turned auto on it will blink cos brightness is on max and automatically it turns brightness down in half of second and that is that blink.. it is not any issue ...

abd obviously if auto brightness is on of course screen is gonna be darker or brighter .. depend of outside light .. ! there is sensor .. simple as that ..

How notifications work without LED?

Hi
I'm currently with a phone that has an LED notification light which is pretty convenient for me because I'm the type of persons who usually check his phone only when there's a message. Nowadays, I knew that this convenient notification LED have been discontinued
If I buy a future One Plus phone, How can I tell if I get e.g. a whatsapp message without constantly checking my phone from time to time?
P.S. I'm also not interested to have an that thing called "on screen display" that is running 24/7 just for an average 2-3 messages I recieve / day. I'm aware of software notification LED in the app store but I'm not really into software solutions because they tend to eat battery life pretty much the same way as on screen display.
I also don't really understand what's the deal about eliminating it?! if they can't find a space for it on the edges - because edges became so small nowadays - they can simply merge it somehow with the punch out lens for the front camera! or make a built-in software solution that popus out the notification on the screen ONLY when I get a message.

First I thought that same but I think ambient display replaced the notification led. If you lift it up or just tap (not double tap) on the screen, you will see your notifications. I don't like always on display too.

So do I have to tap everytime I'm suspecting a message?! That's not convenient at all and I really hope that all manufacturers return back that LED notification light. It was a stupid decision to make really

No, if you get a message your phone will turn the ambient display on too, to show you the notification. But after a few seconds it will turn the screen off again.

That's still not convenient because I may not be present beside my phone to see the notification when it's triggered. The notification LED is blinking in a nicer continuous way to tell me that there's something i need to check. I still insist that ditching it was a very silly decision towards inconvenience

It's not good as the app needs to be running all the time even in the background to deliver notifications. I read so many negative reviews about such apps. Nothing is convenient like the LED notification

When using NotifyBuddy, disable notifications on ambient display and double tap to wake, so it can work properly.

I find the lack of LED very annoying.
yes, you can tap the screen, or lift it up to check, but I find it very common that a notification icon is NOT present, but if I unlock, and scroll down, I will see a new email/text/etc.

AOD, if well done, does not drain any more battery than a notification LED. When you get a notification, it will only lit up a few pixels on the screen, in any shape you want. You can literally simulate a LED with AOD. Personally I use the app "always on edge", I set it up to show the name of the contact and the messaging app when I receive a text, super useful, way better than just a LED. I didn't notice any more drain in battery life, I can still very easily last a whole day of heavy use.

How did you enable it using EX kernel manager?
I've tried this. It doesn't blink. Within the software, the Charging LED doesn't have a blink option, only solid.
I'd personally set the LED to only be on when I've missed a call or text since I don't care about emails.
Yes, I remember it being the same way on the G7 Power, and then I found out that it had a LED by installing one of the custom roms which had taken the time to add some custom features allowing full control of it. If it can be solid, it can also blink, it's just a matter of programming it that way, perhaps a developer could figure it out.
