Any idea when you will be able to buy the global version? I don't live in a country that sells honor phones, so I'd have to purchase online from somewhere.

Oh I'm aware of that, my question may have been poorly worded. I haven't bought an out-of-market phone before, so I'm not exactly sure how long of a wait it'd be until these phones start popping up on various sites online, ebay, etc. where I could pick one up.

That depends on the provider, in USA the providers don't all use the same network bands. That vary from provider to provider making it very hard to answer that question. The THL 2015 supports 2100/1800/2600/800 MHz on 4G/LTE. Better ask your provider if they support these bands or not.
Good, I am buyer of a phone, it thl 2015 or this jiayu s3, ...
can tell me how is this phone .. it has can put some thoughts on it, bugs ... costum roms, ... and lollipop, update .... thanks
Interesting.
I'm going to be in Europe for part of this summer and while I was leaning towards the Elephone P7000, I was concerned that it would not be available in time. I have settled with this phone, and it should be in my possession shortly. I'm somewhat disappointed it ships with Android 4.4, but I'm hopeful it will receive Lollipop soon.
Does anyone know how heavily skinned this phone is? I'm wondering how close we are to AOSP.
Got one this morning after pre-release ordering at coolicool, with DHL +£15 tax to the UK, seems good so far, expect they'll give us 5.1 from 4.4.4 soon, noticed quite a lot of their stuff here http://www.needrom.com/category/thl/thl-2015 think I'll use Nova launcher for now, just under 41,000 in Antutu, keep us posted if they can be rooted if it's later required.

It can be rooted by VRoot_1.8.2.13135.
I already done that at the weekend.
I tried to create custom recovery by autocreate TWRP with no success.
Gravity box also not compatible with the latest xposed framework yet
Is this any use? http://playfuldroid.com/how-to-root-thl-2015-in-less-than-an-hour
Would there be any version of CyanogenMod available to us if it does start working rooted?

Put Bounty On Device?
Does anyone know of any websites that I can use to place a "bounty" on a device? I'd like a 5.0 ROM, and I'd be willing to put money into a pot that is awarded to the first person to complete this task. Does XDA support this?

Compass and Gyroscope
Hi guys, what about compass and gyroscope? Is Google Skymaps working properly. Thank you!
hello! whether on this phone to upgrade to Android 5.0?
No Android 5 update from the manufacturers yet, have had one OTA update from THL but not sure what it did. Does anyone know why some apps find this phone as rooted even without rooting it? I'm trying to get SkyGo to work (they are strict for DRM tv viewing) and also Trustable by Bluebox lists it as rooted out of the box - with some issues that THL should probably be working on too. Is there any way using it rooted to remove all the files that makes these apps think it is rooted then use the unroot option so aps like SkyGo would then work?
Also noticed Recovery TWRP over on needrom if this is any better than iRoot method?

Doogee S1 smart watch will be released to call and support 3G network.

Have you heard that Chinese cellphone manufacturer Doogee is able to produce its first wearable device , Doogee S1 smart watch. This smart watch is different with the traditional one , which can complement the fitness features, and it can also track your sports achievement, of course monitor your heart rate. It doesn’t need to be connected to a smart watch.
Why do i say that? You can make calls with a SIM slot to Doogee watch. independently from your phone, and even connect to the internet via 3G networks. We’re still waiting on the full final details but we hope to also see WIFI in the device too.
Check Doogee S1 main features:
Dialer / Bluetooth phone call: Unlike most smart watches, the DOOGEE S1 can independently make / receive phone calls with its own SIM card
Phonebook / call log / message / music sync: Save time: Access notifications quickly on your wrist using smartphone sync
Heart Rate Monitor: DOOGEE S1 is a smartwatch can accurately test your heart rate and closely take care of your body condition
Pedometer: Record the steps you take and count your exercise distance to monitor your fitness
Real Time Weather and Barometer Information: When get connected to network, it will report weather and barometer to give you a considerate remind
Extra Features: Sound recorder, music player, calendar.
By the way, i got the good news that it has been released now. Will you have a try?

I'm looking for a descent smartwatch. Would you propose this one, or the more expensive Moto 360? Or even something else.

I bought one yesterday, unfortunately it doesn't sync with iPhone waiting to look after a rom! It has a great and easy fully functional android menu, although on every watch face it doesn't show steps n heart rate so you hahave to access them through menu. If you have any other question, do not hesitate to ask me.
In addition to your impressions of the overall build quality of the watch, I'd really like to know if it has the 1900 MHz band as advertised. This is critical to using it as a standalone device in the US. If it has both 850 and 1900, its a game changer in its class.

It doesn't work at all or just message notifications? I've heard this problem many times on chinese smartwatches, iOS just doesn't allow it.
I bought a cheap huawei mobile phone to sync my doogee smart watch but still it doesn't get any notification, it works standalone.. However it says that is waterproof ip67, yesterday when I was cleaning the dishes its screen flashed white twice, and from then it doesn't work at all.. I suggest you not to buy it
I'm sorry for your loss. I assume you're going to request a replacement? Keep us posted...

Meiigoo S8 6.1'' 18:9 full display dual-sided 3D | 4+64GB | 13+5MP Dual | Android 7.1

The Meiigoo S8 has now been announced and along with that introduction comes confirmation of the full specs on offer with this smartphone. What is likely to be one of the main points to note is that this is a device that follows in the footsteps of a number of high profile 2017 smartphones by utilizing an 18:9 aspect ratio. The inclusion of this edge-to-edge design allows the Meiigoo S8 to make use of a smaller physical footprint compared to what would be encountered with a device adopting a more traditional bezel level. As a result, the Meiigoo S8 features a larger than usual 6.1-inch display, but within the body of a smartphone more often associated with a smaller display. A design aspect which not only looks to add a premium touch to this smartphone, but one which is also designed to offer a more comfortable holding experience.

The highlight features of the S8 are that it sports a 6.1-inch HD+ display with 18:9 aspect ratio which takes up 83% of the whole front panel and coated in dual-sided 3D curved glass. Spec wise, the S8 is equipped with a powerful MTK6750T octa-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz, 4GB RAM, 64GB of storage, expandable up to 256GB, dual rear cameras (13.0MP + 5.0MP combo), rear fingerprint scanner, 5.0MP front-facing shooter, USB TYPE-C, 3300mAh battery and Android 7.1 Nougat as the OS.
Stay Tuned for New updates and Review.
I'm not seing much Meiigoo on XDA and wonder if this phone will get rooted. It would be nice to have a "utility phone" to play with. Assume it will be pretty bare bones Nougat (but at least 7.1)
I doubt XDA will have any development, i just got the phone yesterday and an testing it out.
Can't compare it to other phones, since I don't have any, but mine is behaving surprisingly well. It's my secondary phone, so obviously it's not under a lot of stress, but I can honestly say I notice no bugs or problems some YouTubers are having. In fact I am quite happy with it. I only wish the camera was better, but for such a low price the phone is a steal. I'd love to see some cusom ROMs developed for it.
Who knows how to upgrade from Android 7.0 to Android 7.1? In menu: "settings -> about phone -> phone status -> Wireless update" it says that my device's software is up to date...
The photo of Meiigoo S8 in first post is not realistic. The display is not borderless. In attach the real one.

I did it here with the meigoo S8 without any Problems. I tried it at home and there it doesn´t work ! Must be some Kind of Driver or missing .dll files or so.
Try another PC and look if this works then.

I tried write on email ([email protected]) but is undelivered.
With hard reset nothing changed...
Does anyone have the stock rom?

I did it here with the meigoo S8 without any Problems. I tried it at home and there it doesn´t work ! Must be some Kind of Driver or missing .dll files or so.
Try another PC and look if this works then.

GPS receiver on Exynos model

Which Broadcom GPS receiver will be used on S9x ?
Is it the same BCM4774 like on older models, or the new dual-frequency L1/L5 BCM4775x ?
I still can't find the exact spec, but what they're showing doesn't look promising. the GPS "spec" from the marketing gibberish is exactly the same as that from the S8:
Location (GPS, Galileo, Glonass, BeiDou)

The marketing people never (can) provide any usable technical information.
Even google people give you a pretty useless device table at https://developer.android.com/guide/topics/sensors/gnss.html
although they certainly know better: all phones with 'yes' in "Accumulated delta range" use BCM4774, and support Galileo (excluding Nexus 9 in the last row, which uses special firmware and has an older Broadcom chipset).
I hope somebody will do a hardware teardown, or will enable debugging log options in gpsconfig.xml on a rooted S9x
IMHO, the chances for BCM4775x are pretty slim, but let's hope for the better.
OK, just pre-ordered . Is there a way other than rooting I (or teardown!) that I can use to determine the GPS chip? If it's not the BCM4775 I'll probably just turn around and sell it prior to activation and don't want to mess it up too much

Is that dual frequency thing really that important? What's about it that makes it so important?
Poor man's surveying equipment.
I have some rough land surveying to do (and potentially re-do over several iterations marking different boundaries) and the current ~10m range of accuracy doesn't cut it, while the ~10cm on the dual frequency chip would suffice. No, that is not my sole reason to consider an upgrade (as well it shouldn't be), but factored with everything else it pushes it over the edge. If it doesn't, I'll just wait until my S7 totally poops the bed in another year or so.

I usually get 6m of accuracy tho 10cm would be nice haha.

The only non-invasive way is to install this APK
https://github.com/google/gps-measurement-tools/releases/tag/2.0.0.1
and check the logs for L5 pseudoranges et al.
This approach is not that reliable as teardown | rooting, and can provide a false negative result.
It's dual carrier. 4755
Extracted this from S9 firmware
Edit: it seems like it's disabled tho. No CM accuracy

Wow. And the a*holes keep quiet about it, damn marketing people
Maybe one needs to upload some firmware patch for L5/E5 to work properly.

On the rooted phone you can edit gps.xml and enable the dual-frequency operation. I have written about it in Huawei Mate 9 GPS thread.

Great, thanks!! I guess I shouldn't get too pedantic, but Broadcom is calling this the BCM47755...should we just concede that this chip shows up as 4755 in firmware?
I can't decipher where in that xml it's saying it's disabled, but does it stand to reason that enabling this could come from a software update from samsung and/or verizon? i.e. I should keep the S9 once it arrives and they hope for the best??
Thanks!!!

This is the Broadcom enum for possible multifrequency modes:
Code:
GL_MULTI_CARR_RF_MODE_UNKNOWN
GL_MULTI_CARR_RF_MODE_L1
GL_MULTI_CARR_RF_MODE_L1_L5
GL_MULTI_CARR_RF_MODE_L1_LP
GL_MULTI_CARR_RF_MODE_L1_L5_LP
GL_MULTI_CARR_RF_MODE_L1_L2_L5
GL_MULTI_CARR_RF_MODE_L1_NN
L1L5
L1LP
L1L5LP
L1L2L5
L1NN
L1_EXT_ON
L5_EXT_ON
It is also interesting that they still stick to the 'rtistatus3.dat' for RTIconfig, which does not support Galileo. You can use rtistatus4.dat available from Broadcom site to fix that.

Not to be offense, but how could tell the new S9 would be using BCM4775X family?
According to Broadcom webpage, are there any chances that BCM4755 would be some kind of OEM product between BCM4752 & BCM4774? Are there any apps that can log / indicate that uses L5 channel? Thanks.

Samsung S9 does not have Broadcom BCM47755. This information is 100% reliable. Only in S10 will they give the BCM47755 chip.

I will wait for the first real hardware teardown.

Question Which HD audio codecs are confirmed? No adpX HD?

I haven’t been able to find anywhere that confirms which bluetooth HD audio codecs the Pixel 6 Pro will have. The codecs seem to be mysteriously left out of the specs. Look at https://support.google.com/pixelphone/answer/7158570?hl=en and compare the Pixel 6 Pro specs with the 5a (5G) specs in the “Wireless & Location” section.
Does the Pixel 6 Pro have adpX and LDAC codecs? If so, please show me a link to confirmed info. I can’t find it.
I am also curious about that... LDAC is extremely important. All modern Qualcom Android phones have it.
I expect Google to deliver here...

I just chatted with the Google Store support and got an answer:
Both phones will support aptx, aptx hd and LDAC.
I’d certainly hope it’s true that the Pixel 6 devices will support Aptx, Aptx HD and LDAC. Thanks for chatting and finding that out. I’m curious why Google isn’t putting that info seemingly anywhere in their marketing materials. It makes me slightly nervous to just take the word of a support chat rep.
I know there’s an article on XDA pre-release where some leakers said the phone would have the codecs. That makes me feel a little better than the support rep, ha.
My Pixel 3 XL supports aptx and LDAC.
I think these codecs are just assumed to be included now.
I wouldn't worry about it.

Well, your Pixel 3 XL runs Android on a Qualcomm chip. That's designed to run those codecs/ the licenses are paid.
Take a look at IPhones for example. They have no codecs whatsoever. High quality bluetooth connections... that's impossible with Apple devices. They crap out way before.
Knowing Google and how easily they f*ck up important stuff, it's important to ask those questions.
I know for a fact that LDAC has been part of the Android Open Source Project for many years now and that OEMs can add it to their devices freely, but they still have to add it. It's not going to appear magically out of thin air.
Good point.
Just got my pixel 6 pro today.
Myself I'm really disappointed it doesn't support Dolby Atmos or and kind of spatial audio. I really enjoy this out of the OP8 I have now. Ordered the 6 and will give it a shot but might end up returning it.

Still technically on day one of use but so far it seems as good if not better than my old iphone 12 pro max. For now I am using the same wireless charger I was using for my z fold 3 until I am able to get a google wireless charger. You should start seeing more detailed testing on youtube in another day or so when the embargo is over.

Noice, would be nice to know what you think of the camera and especially the video quality. Those embargo jugglers don't want people to find out if the phone is truly worth it, before it's sold officially

So far it looks good. I believe it's a 50MP camera on the rear and uses AI machine learning to enhance the images. Video can do 4k and 60fps and 1080p 30fps is default.

So does that mean your headset doesn't support it or the phone doesn't support it?
Never mind, I guess the text would mean that another phone this phone is connected to doesn't support the codec. If it's in the list it's supported...which is awesome!

Both seem really close in terms of max brightness. Though I can't see a need to run them at max brightness even in direct sunlight. Adaptive brightness seems to work fine for now.
So if aptx is available then there is some Qualcomm inside. I have the sony headphones with LDAC and that is what I use all the time with my pixel 2. I do a lot of flac and full wav file listening and while it is somewhat lost in the noisy urban world it is nice to have.
