Rookie questions - Galaxy Tab Pro 12.2, 10.1, 8.4 Q&A, Help & Trouble

Hi guys. I have not rooted a device since I went bananas with ROMs for my HTC Hero back in the days, so I would appreciate some help.
I love my Pro 8.4 (T325), but it starts to feel old. I want update it. What is the most suitable ROM for me if I would like to focus on performance, and maybe battery life (a bit contradictory, I know, but a good mix). I don't care about the camera, so Nougat is fine.
Also, is there a good guide on how to install ROMs? I found a good rooting guide that I can use though.
Thanks in advance

[Q] Which ROM for best battery life but w stock Sense feel (for the wife's phone!)?

Hi,
I'd appreciate some advice (having searched as best I can first, and without hijacking another thread) - I'm a Nexus One user (running CM6.1, and very happy with it), but my wife's Desire (currently unrooted stock latest OTA update) has a sucky habit of running the battery down to zero every so often when she's not using it and I've been thinking a custom ROM is the way to go. However, there's a lot of roms for the desire, and I can't work out which meets the requirements best:
1) Must appear to be a stock Sense rom to the user (she's just got used to the UI, and I don't want her to get flustered) - I'd like something that seems as much like the stock rom as possible please.
2) Best possible battery life (happy to try uv if it's unobtrusive)
Any replies very much welcome, ta.
Jim
I prefer not to say which ROM is better compared to other ROMs as I think it would be unfair on the developers who have put in so much hard work to bring us such a great variety of ROMs, but in terms of battery life, I would personally say that I had the best battery performance out of OpenDesire. The only problem though is that OpenDesire does not have Sense UI. With it, I was averaging about 2-3 days (depending on usage) use out of it before I need to put it on the charger. At that time, I was also running a different Radio (5.10.05.23).
If you really need Sense UI, then I would suggest LeeDroid's ROM as it provides pretty good battery life as well.
Have you considered the MIUI ROMs? they are pretty new and highly customisable, with an iOS like interface with widgets, also provide impressive battery life and are very stable.
I'm sure many would disagree with my findings but this is just based on my own experience of using these ROMs.
MasDroid,
Many thanks for the advice - I've gone with LeeDroid and it's worked like a charm. A well supported and stable ROM, which I'll recommend to anyone in the same position.
Thanks again!
J
I second MasDroid's opinion about LeeDroid ROM.
I am glad you're enjoying such a good ROM. Hope your wife is happy, i know how important that is

(Q) Help to find the most stable rom

Dear Arc s users,
I had this great phone for 2 years and i did the installation of some roms to try which is the best rom for performance and i remember that the 4.4.4 roms are the best.
Now i have bought an htc one m7 and after 3 months that my Arc s was inutilized, i decided to give it to my sister.
I did the flash of slim rom and the first impression was GREAT! Good performance and stability. But my sister says that the video are not working (YouTube and Facebook) and the app on sd are not working.
I know that there isn't the perfect rom, But i just would like to know what is, at the moment, the stable rom for our phone.
It does not matter if it is gb, jb or kk (my sister doesn't know the difference). I just need a Good rom.
Please could You help me to find the Good one?
Thank you so much and sorry if i do this question, But i love this phone and i would like to see it in use instead to see it on my desktop.
Thank you again.
All Custom Rom is the best , Just try and see what is the best for you

Hi guys, im Kia.. Maybe someone knows me from G2 forum or from YouTube, never mind I just sold my G2 and im thinking what phone should i buy now. Money is not problem, theres no money haha lol . I was looking for some phone that has great dev support and good camera screen etc.. ( i will use my next phone like 6 months, im waiting for some new phones to be realised but need one immediatly) So did u suggest my G3 or to buy something else, instead Note 4 (i dont like design of it).... I heard some comments on youtube about overheating but if theres some better kernel than stock ofc i will install it... So if u suggest me G3 expect one ROM Reviewer in this awesome community. The g3, fells amazing even though its plastic. I used the phone from, 7 a clock in the morning to 4 at the night, and it only used 30% of battery life. This is with stock rom, no changes have been made. I fell it's a really solid phone, nice camera good screen, and fast! And we got offical cm12 now So just ask here or pm me, if you got any questions And the overheating thing was fixed with a update i belive. Atleast i don't have it. And all i had to do, for getting custom rom, was root the phone install twrp and the flash nothing else

Here`s my 2 cents:
1. Rooting the device is fairly simple imo. Downgrade to a KK rom, root it with PurpleDrake, flash a custom recovery and then you can flash a custom rom/kernel.
2. I`am not a big gamer but when i do i seldomly experience the thermal throttling issue. Maybe it kicks in during extensive gaming.
3. I think Cloudy 2.1 is the best stock based cutom rom atm which is very stable and fast.
4. Haven`t flashed custom kernels so far so can`t give you any personal xperience
Overall its a great device, i have the 32/3GB device whivh is the one to get imo. The camera is excellent in daytime/with sufficient light but in darker conditions pics can be a bit grainy.

Good luck and enjoy
cm 12 stable and camera better than stock ?
I loved oneplus one cm11s the customization of it? Does cm12 have all those features too? And is it on lollipop or kitkat base ? Too bad Xposed doesn't support lollipop yet....
In the price range you can't get much better than the G3. Good looking phone, full of potential.

Semi-Noob?: Which custom 5.1.1 rom would work best for me?

Hi Gang, I just finished unlocking my BL and gaining perm-root on my verizon note 4. Thanks to all who were a part of making this happen.
I've never had this trouble before as I have always just run Hyperdrive on all my devices, which is Perfect for me... but, since there is no HD for the Note 4, I wanted to find out which rom would be closest to it? I have read a number of issues with various roms, particularly the MM ones (so I think I would just like to stay on 5.1.1) and started to get confused, so I thought I would ask...
The most important features to me, in this order are: stability, hotspot, no ads, no ota, all apps working in multi window, battery life, speed.
I don't care about the "looks" aspect of customization.
Can some one point me in the right direction, please?
Thank You!
PS: I have read about nearly every rom and that's how I got to this point. So, please be gentle.

G3 Best ROM for battery life over all versions

hello everyone,
i've replaced my G3 with a S7 Edge and i wanted to give my phone to my daughter who is more willing to have a stable and durable phone than a fast and short life mobile.
so my question is simple, over all the Android ROMS and versions (Kitkat, Lollipop, Marshmallow & Nougat), which one is the best in term of stability & overall battery?
she does not need any rooting or special tweaks.
thanks for your recommendations

Hello,
I would recommend Marshmallow ROMs.
Something like Cyanogenmod 13,Stable,Fast,Easily disabled Root Access(it's disabled by stock).
No bugs and crashes at all. The battery with a lowered brightness(40%),can easily make a day (normal usage example wifi, data, location All ON messaging,(messenger)
And while playing games it can stay 3-4,5 hours and maybe more.
Also with Doze feature, the battery has more durability when the phone isn't being used.
So my opinion is Cyanogenmod 13.(And that's what I'm using right now)
Greetings.
thank you very much! i'll give it a try this evening
If you ever find the cm 13 ROM, let me know. Im looking for it on the d852.
Thanks
