"Tips" notifications - Honor View 20 Questions & Answers

How do I stop the f***ing Huawei Tips notifications on this phone? I uninstalled the Tips app and the notifications still pop up (WITH SOUND!!)...
I am seriously thinking of returning this phone. Huawei has become so intrusive and annoying with their data collecting software that I don't want to fund their business anymore. This is getting worse than Sony. I dumped Sony phones when they started pre-installing stuff that you can't remove and I am beginning to see that it will end up the same way with Huawei.

This is madness. Even the Huawei Video app sends stupid notifications....
Between these notifications and the Huawei search app hijacking the phone every time you just slightly swipe downwards by mistake this phone is driving me crazy.

It will give tips for a couple of days and it will stop after that automatically. Its same with every EMUI 9 Phones.

So do you think it is acceptable to send noisy notifications that the phone owner has no way to stop? We must wait for the phone to stop by itself on the basis of what a stupid Huawei product manager had decided for us.
How about a "Tips" app that gives tips on how to stop annoying notifications?

I think you have not disabled it. Might be a overlook
Check again if it's already disabled enable it and then disable it.
Once the app is disabled it would not show alerts.

My tips app was uninstallable with no tinkering. Bought in the UK from carphone warehouse. As I understand it, the Chinese version of the phone is heavily locked down.

I think the app you need to uninstall is hwsmartsuggestion

[Q] Turning off or uninstalling magazines and s finder

Is there anyway to disable magazines and s finder? I really don't use them and it's really annoying to accidentally swipe up or accidentally hold the menu button. I'd rather not root just because of the knox issue. I really depend on this thing for school work and don't want to run the risk of bricking it or anything.

I don't know of a way to turn the whole app off yet but if you open up MyMagazine and hit Menu button > settings > open using the home key > and uncheck.
about S-Finder no idea mate.
I didn't know about the setting mentioned above, but I just rooted my tablet and froze both S-Finder and MyMagazine with Titanium Backup. I don't use those apps anyway and MyMagazine was annoying the [email protected] out of me.

Have you noticed a significant improvement in performance since doing this? I'm really tempted to root, because the sluggishness of this tablet (god I hate admitting this) is becoming increasingly annoying and apparent. I wish we could get rid of it all together.

I did this about 10 minutes after taking my tablet out of the box, so I really can't compare it now to how it was before. The magazine thing was bugging me right out of the box though.
I don't notice any of this so-called "lag" that everyone complains about. To me, this tablet is super fast and smooth. So either I just don't know what this "lag" is, or what I did actually helped (I froze Knox and a bunch of other stuff, so maybe something did help?).
BTW: I should note too that my previous tablet was a single-core Tegra CPU. After the OS was officially upgraded to Android 4.0.3, REAL lag was a part of everyday use for me (it took about a second to switch between home screens!). So after coming to this quad-core CPU, any lag is most likely not seen by me. Everything seems super fast. So basically, I may not see lag simply due to my experiences with a true laggy tablet.
Sorry I can't be of much help.

Really annoying is the NY Times app. It's not free after the trial, i'm German, i don't need it, but i can only disable it. Already disabled, it produced a notification, so i had to disable these also.
FWIW, I'm rooted and the first thing I did was install Titanium and froze:
All Knox files (obvious reasons)
S-Finder (having it pop up every time I hit the menu key for too long was driving me insane)
Gallery. Sucks up battery and the device actually got hot. Soon's I froze it problem went away.
Index service. A real disaster ! Ditto the above. Between this crap and Gallery the battery actually started to swell.
My Magazine and other useless apps, live wallpapers, screen saver, Yahoo finance. (broke anyway!) Search around the forum and you'll find what else you can freeze.
I use the NY Times app, but I went into the settings and disabled all notifications, as I do with most apps anyway. No more crap now!
Oh, yeah, one more. I had Nova Launcher and got fed up with the crashes and lockups it was causing on a more and more frequent basis on more than one device. I switched to KK Launcher and took care of that. I don't think Nova like Samsungs much-had the same with a Note 8.
Hope this helps!

[Q] How do I prevent the SAME notifications from constantly showing up?

So I did a bunch of searching and either I am in the wrong place, or no one else seems to have this problem, but I am seeing the same notifications showing up on my Moto 360 over and over even after I dismiss them. For example, I will get the Google Now scores for sports events (some for teams I couldn't care less about) popping up over and over and over again even after I swipe them away. They are not even real notifications on my phone - so not sure why they are popping up in the first place. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
You have to go into Google Now on your phone and configure the card settings there. Should be options to no longer see cards you're not interested in, or tweak their content. Otherwise it will periodically update phone & watch with cards - this is just how the service works.
Personally I leave it turned off completely as the benefits are meagre vs demands it makes on phone & watch power. There are more efficient ways of keeping yourself updated on the info you need when you need it, IMHO.

Thanks for the reply. So even if I dismiss the notification on the watch, and there is NO notification in the notification tray on the phone, it is expected that I still constantly receive card notifications on the watch? That seems broken to me...

Ok, I got that, but again, my problem is not that the initial notification shows up, it's that once I swipe it away it keeps coming back. I suppose that's an issue with Google Now though and not the watch.
You are not alone.
I'm having the same issue.
Moto 360 4.4W.2 - Wear Mini Launcher
Moto X (2013) 4.4.4 - Google Now Launcher.
I'm almost certain that those launchers are doing it. Days ago I had a friends's birthday notification poping over and over again, it would back to my watch face in like 5s after I had it dismissed, when i remove wear mini launcher all that stoped.
Today I installed it again, just for sake of testing, since is a very helpful software. The problem started again, but now with a amazon delivery notification, so im uninstalling it.

Sorry to rehash an old topic, but I'm having the same issue..
The card in question is to do with sport, and I do want to see the card so turning off isn't an option, but when I swipe it away I don't want it to come back!
Anyone found a solution?

Nope, it's the way Google Now does sport cards -- if a game is in progress, it sends you constant updates. Even if you swipe the update away, the next time anything changes, it'll just reappear, until the game / match is over (once you swipe away the card for a completed game it stays away, for me). I wish Now was more customizable.

Actually having exactly the same problem and it is specifically with sports cards. LG G3 (Verizon) 5.1 and G Watch R. I'll swipe a sports card away (last game score, next game time, etc.) and it will be back within a few minutes. Very irritating.

Delayed Notifications In Android P

First off, I disabled adaptive battery in Android P. Ever since the upgrade from 8 to 9, I noticed that notifications are right around 5 minutes late. I have a couple time-sensitive apps that I need notifications right away. Gmail and another app for my home automation. In Android 8, the were flawless. However, ever since going to 9, not so much.
I also noticed that when I delete messages in the gmail app for gmail and an IMAP email server I have it does nothing with the messages on the server. I login to webmail from a computer and the messages are still in the Inbox.
Anyone have any ideas? I am going to try a wipe again to see if it resolves the issues, but I am out of ideas. I had the above issues in Android 9 beta as well. I would downgrade and it fixed them.
I have the same thing and it turns out it is a common issue with Pie. I have not found a solution yet. I have read all kinds of things people have tried and nothing seems to help. Sorry that I can't be more positive. Hopefully Google will figure something out and fix in an update.
Here is a two page post I started about the issue but there are also many others online describing the same thing:
https://forums.androidcentral.com/android-pie/904647-notifications-delayed-stopped.html
My thought is that the delayed notifications are due to Android Pies implementation of adaptive battery. Maybe try excluding the apps you want to receive notifications from in a timely manner?

You don't happen to have data saver in the quick tiles turned on by accident do you? That does prevent notifications from getting pushed. Both my parents had this on and a bunch of notifications came through after turning it off. I made sure to remove it from even being an available option.

been fighting with this issue as well, but it only seems to be gmail, and a couple other apps, my sms notifications seem to come through fine, at least as far as I can tell. I've turned off adaptive battery etc, nothing seems to make a difference. sometimes i can turn my screen on and all the notifications will come flooding in, other times they come through 10ish min later.
yes i have also these issue
and i opened thread on these https://forum.xda-developers.com/pixel-2-xl/help/gmail-sync-problems-pie-t3839357
also i tried many apps, but instead of gmail but yet i didn't find any solution

Made sure it was off early on. No change.
The best way to describe my issue is that once the screen times out and has been off for at least about 5 minutes, notification sounds are delayed. It is sort of like the phone goes into a deeper sleep or something and then the problem arises. As soon as I use my fingerprint to wake the phone, all notifications blast through.
The delay can vary. Sometimes it is only 15 minutes or so, but often it is much longer. It is almost like once in a while an app wants to call home or something and to do so wakes up the phone just enough to allow some notifications through.
There also seem to be some issues with individual apps and notifications that may be fixed when a developer updates their app for Pie. For example, most apps notify immediately when the screen is on or within that first 5 minutes or so after the screen goes off. But since installing Pie, Kuna always has a delay of 5 to 10 minutes before notifying. Kuna does this 100% of the time. In fact if I have the phone awake, looking at the screen when walking out the front door, when the motion sensor is triggered, immediately there is a notification icon. But the sound notification is always delayed. This seems like an issue with Kuna and they are well know for being very slow with updates and fixes but eventually they do fix things. But the notification sound delays described in this thread do indeed seem like a system issue with Pie. Hopefully enough people will have the issue that Google will figure it out and fix.
I am having same issues after updating to Android P. At first, notifications came late about 5 min, but then they started to vary some coming in 15-30 minutes later. Can't figure out what is causing the time difference but either way I can't find a fix. I spoke with Google support and they had no fix as well.

Nope, they didn't mention anything about existing issues or being aware of the issue.
Any one found any solutions or fixes? I feel like my notifications are becoming even more delayed now and have also realized I'm not getting a lot of various notifications at all (through many different apps).
I am guessing you all are aware of this, and have tried, however I just found this recently and thought I would share for anyone that doesn't know.... Settings > Apps and Notifications > Advanced > Special App Access ..... Lots of options here with one of them being battery optimization for individual apps. After I upgraded to P, hardly any of my frequently used apps were given full battery use. Haven't played with all the other options there, however just granting apps full battery seemed to help me out.

One of the first things I tried was giving full useage, (no battery optimization) for all apps that I want notifications from. Did not help. Many other apps are still being optimized. I thought I had previously found a way to turn off all battery optimization but because I do have many apps in that list that are being optimized, I obviously did not. Right now I can't find a global setting to turn off battery optimization even though I thought I did before?
So I noticed this morning, that the main app/notification that's super delayed (5-10min after the event should have triggered) it doesn't happen when my phone is plugged in or i have the screen on in my hand. Even after going through all the battery save features and making sure this app is exempt from them, it still happens if the screen is off, or my phone is off the charger. super annoying. wish there was a fix for this already!

Verizon sent me a replacement because of this problem. I was apprehensive, but got a very nice re-furb. Still have the same problem, but I got a phone that is indicated as Verizon on the LG site. In developer mode, the bootloader unlock button works. I guess everything isn't bad. I sure hope Google straightens this out soon.

This happens only with Gmail on my phone - WhatsApp and Messages send instant notifications. Messages isn't optimized, the other apps are.
I can live with that, no big deal. Perhaps disabling battery optimization for Gmail would fix this, though.
Interesting note: I was talking to YouMail support today about something else but I asked about an issue where I get an email and transcript of a new voicemail but when I go to the YouMail app that voicemail is not shown until I drag down from the top of the screen to refresh the list. Support told me they are aware of this but can not do anything because it is a problem with the "latest Android version causing delay". So it is becoming a more widely known issue and hopefully Google will fix soon.
Thanks for all the feedback. Speaking of delay, I think I have tried just about every fix here and then some and still no luck. Wiping the phone did nothing as well. At this point, I would almost like to revert back to v8 to get this fixed.
I tried this supposed fix, (reply #51). https://forums.androidcentral.com/a...ifications-delayed-stopped-3.html#post6355714
No idea if it worked for me as when you restart the phone you need to do it again and less than 30 minutes after I went through the steps, my Pixel2 got the October update for Pie and required a restart!

GT2Pro - clearing notification on the watch does not clear notification on the phone

So. Finally decided to move away from a Casio hand watch and MiBand 4 to Huawei Watch GT2Pro.
This wasn't an easy decision as I know Huawei's LiteOS isn't android GearOS but from all the list of pros and cons, I think it wasn't such a bad decision.
Of course the Russian Internet trolls will constantly throw the same topics about Huawei's watch in the comments in social media that "No NFC?!" and "Can't install apps! Samsung is the best" but I have just realised that I just don't really need it.
It is always a case of ticking off the boxes when buying something that has a long list of requirements.
But. Anyway.
As in the topic. There is only one thing which does really bother me.
When a text message (or What's App message) arrives to my phone (Huawei P20Pro) I do get the notification on the phone and the notification on my watch.
If I will clear the notification on the Huawei Watch GT2 Pro, the notification about new text message will still remain "unread" on my phone.
And sadly, I can't get over it and can accept that it works this way.
Can anyone recommend anything to fix it?
I do understand that so far this is how this works out of the box, but I am hoping that there might be an additional app (like Miband tools for MiBand) or at least any contact to Huawei to raise it as a concern/complain?
I have tried speaking to Huawei UK customer service but sadly, they are just the customer service for distribution and the only thing that was offered to me was an opportunity to return the watch.
I have also tried to find any info about HarmonyOS 2.0 and if it would actually be coming live any time soon, but this topic seems to be:
a) dead
b) delayed to the point that any news are just YT oriented views-focused sh** videos
c) nowhere an info to confirm for sure that this system would be available for GT2Pro
anyone may help?
Even to help where to send an email for Huawei to even "consider" that this is really essential for the watch to be "almost perfect"?
No action on notifications from Huawei Watch. Huawei just display the notification when arrive on phone. Even if you delete this notification on your phone this stay on your watch. (and of course if you delete from the watch they stay on phone) You must delete 2 times
On Amazfit watch the notification on watch match the phone notification and if you delete on watch they are also delete on phone (but just delete, no read mark )
I own a GT2 Pro since yesterday and thats what is annoying me also. Could you find out any solution?
Otherwise I'm thinking of returning the watch. I really like the watch, but the notification issue is annoying
Got mine today. The notification thingy is the only prob that bugs me. Other than that I am ready to retire my old Ticwatch Pro. Hope the promised os update from liteos to harmonyos fixes this problem. Other than that, a beautiful watch with great battery life!
Hope that after the launch of hw3, the harmony update for gt series rolls out soon!
HUAWEI Watch 3 with Harmony OS set to launch on June 2
The HUAWEI Watch 3 is set to launch alongside Harmony OS on June 2. The flagship smartwatch could bring eSIM support and a long battery life.
www.androidauthority.com
Notification management is not good enough on Huawei watches. HarmonyOS is even less finished OS.
notification won't light up the screen
notification dismissed from the watch won't be dismissed from the phone and vice versa
notifications don't have the specific app icons except few
can't reply to notifications with custom text except few messengers on Watch3
calls from messengers won't get a notification or popup screen at all
some notifications come twice
so a year later there is nothing new.

yeah this is valid for both GT2, GT3 and Watch3. I look at all the changelogs. Given the fact that Watch3 is pretty dumb, i wanted to downgrade to GT2Pro. But GT2 has one more issue: cannot display emojis.

Question Gmail syncing / notifications problem

I have a problem with Gmail not syncing properly.
From time to time, it will stop notifying me of new emails.
When going in the app, the mails will come in, without the need to swipe down to refresh.
It has been a couple of days like this now...
Pretty annoying.
And to state the obvious...
Yes, I have enabled syncing.
And YES battery optimization for Gmail is disabled...
Not even the intelligent thingy.
Anybody had the same?
Any ideas?
Have read al lot of topics about it, but no clear solutions...
To my knowledge, Gmail has been having these issues for at least a few weeks now, it's not only you.

Had the issue all last week (Ireland). The last 2 days it's working fine. No changes made to phone.
Mmm, strange.

Don't want to do that every reboot...
No changes are needed, it is working off and on for people randomly. It stopped working for me for 4 days, then 2 days ago was fine again.
I've done manual syncing for a long time.
Sick of unreliable busy things running around in the background.
For the last couple months I've kept Google play Services* disabled unless I sync Gmail, I rarely use Gmaps or Playstore so I don't care.
My stock Note 10+'s battery usage is down to >7% an hour SOT using the Brave browser constantly. That means not only less charging but less strain on the battery out of the gate. I don't consider Google to be a trusted vendor so limiting it's access is a good thing.
*keeps Find my Device from autostarting it's bloody self as well.
I've had this issue with Android for quite some time now. With my S21 Ultra, all I had to do was disable doze with adb commands and never restart my phone. It was so nice getting email notifications at the same time as my iPhone.
I thought I could do the same with the OP9 Pro, but this isn't the case. I too have turned optimisation off, turned doze off, and keep the app open in the background - to no avail.
It's so sad to receive a notification on my iPhone that is fairly important to my business, only to get it anywhere between 10 minutes to several hours later on what is supposed to be my business cell. I'm unfortunately outside of the return window with the phone, otherwise this frustration would've lead me to another iPhone.
So insanely frustrating. I don't think I'll be carrying an Android phone much longer if this persists and the iPhone 13 is as good as I'm hoping it is.
I removed universal gms magisk module and somehow it worked again

It's so sad to receive a notification on my iPhone that is fairly important to my business, only to get it anywhere between 10 minutes to several hours later on what is supposed to be my business cell. I'm unfortunately outside of the return window with the phone, otherwise this frustration would've lead me to another iPhone.
So insanely frustrating. I don't think I'll be carrying an Android phone much longer if this persists and the iPhone 13 is as good as I'm hoping it is.

Activate Developer options>Standby apps, all buckets should show as active, if not power management is active!
Power management will cause erratic behavior.
You need to be up to speed to use an Android effectively.

So many people (including me) already mentioned this issue with Gmail notifications. It is definitely a bug and OnePlus is aware about it. Not sure when it will be corrected...
Waiting for an update, I recommend to use "Spark" app which is working good for all my mailboxes.

The beautiful thing about Android is there's almost always a 3rd party work around.
You're not locked in.
Glitches aren't uncommon, but most are small ones. Finding work arounds is a part of Android ownership... use it's flexibility to your advantage.
I thought I was the only one who had this problem.
a reboot fixes it for me for a couple of days, then its back to not showing any notifications.

A reboot a day seems reasonable...
Maybe 11.2.6.6 update fixed this problem, I don't have the problem for now.
