It shows 633Mhz for me (first four cores)
which rom you are on ?
however background processes of Android do take cpu usage

I does not seem to work like that. I have never seen my Redmi having a single idle CPU core

stock min freq is little 633 mhz big 1130mjz
underclocked can go to 300mhz both big and little.
you mean a hotplug.. when not in use all cores off then whn input turn on... unfortunatelly theres no hotplug for 636.. as they say in kernel settings balme qualcomm

[Q] How to stop a CORE

I think to found the problem that is the cause of battery drain.
I just asked you help to it, but watching with Battery Doctor i think that the cause is the second cpu core that is often at 1600-1700 mhz.
With app like Set Cpu i just tried to set the max frequency to 810-1024 ecc.. but it has effect only for the firts cpu.
How can i stop the second cpu ?
I am using S5 Proyect ROM with BrisK kernel 3.4.0

Hi dude there is an app called CPU governor, is not in the play store but you can look for it on Google i think it could help you!:good::good:

Shutdown cpu cores when low usage

I have been using Yureka for few days and see that cpu cores are always on, irrespective of load. Is anyone working on a kernel which can shutdown 4-6 cores when idle or when screen off? I think this would be great for batter.
Try Cpu Tuner, it has options for profiles and to turn off CPU cores after digging into some settings to enable it as far as i remember.
I am using it. However, the current kernel (as well as Sandy) does not support core shutdown so none of the apps have this option. CPU tuner will scale down frequencies to what i want but all 8 cores are always running.
Like this?
How did you shut down the cores please tell us..

Can you share your configuration from CPU Tuner? I can't any option in cpu tuner to shut down cores. Only governors and their affinity settings.

"Simple and Powerful" Config with "Power User" profile.
My CPU tuner was working in non power user mode . Thanks for the info. I can control cpu cores now.
Now only if someone makes a kernel with more governors and automatically shut down cores on low usage . It seem cpu tuner only allows me to set number of cores for a profile.

If I am wrong correct me, if I have understood what you are trying to say, you most probably wish to use the feature where the idle cpu cores are shutdown once the load is not that much.
In my knowledge, that's 'Hotplugging' right ?? coz it more or less does the same function. Try installing some custom kernel that provide you with some really good hotplugging governers. And coz the development for yureka is really in it's full form, there have been few kernels that have been posted in the "Original Android Development" section of our xda forums. Try going through them, you will find what you are looking for !

mpdecision for mi max helium

It is reportedly not working on the hydrogen model
Dear Friends i saw online one mod which will be of benefit to all of
Mpdecision is watching the load on your device! When you´re only doing simple stuff like browsing, texting or listening to music, the mpdecision service will completely shutdown single cpu cores to reduce power consumption. When you start games or other heavy processes, mpdecision will bring back online all your cores!
You can download Apps like CPU-Z to monitor your CPU Core Status! With mpdecision Service enabled, you can see that some of the CPU Cores go on- and offline. Without mpdecision all Cores are allways online.
It has been developed by the developers at mi-globe com and you can download the mod there

That I am not sure. I am using the Globe rom and it is inbuilt mod in that rom. I dont know if you flash this mod on other roms. May be you can contact the developers.
Hmm.never heard of this ROM. Is it any good? Like what do they mean by battery tweaks..the info is a little vague...

If you go the link i have given you will be clear
On a cleanly installed globeROM Helium with nothing else on it except cpu-z, after several minutes, the governor changes suddenly to performance mode and sets all online cores to the highest clock speed and sometimes stays there for good even after several reboots. It shuts down some cores but the over-all cpu load becomes so high that it drains the battery so fast and heats up the phone a little while even idle. If the governor changes to performance mode, the govtuner mod becomes useless and incompatible and can never be run unless governor goes back to interactive mode. I use Kernel Adiutor to control cpu problems a little but I have to check once in a while because it still happens and I have to manually set governor back to interactive mode again through Kernel Adiutor. So it is useless for now. I hope they fix it as mpdecision is dong wonders on other snapdragon 650-652 phones like the Samsung A9 Pro.

How low can I set the processor frequency to in rooted Samsung Galaxy J2 Pro - SM-J210F?

I have rooted my Samsung Galaxy J2 Pro - SM-J210F. How low can I set the frequency?
Currently it shows only 5 presets - 768 MHz, 900 MHz, 1200 MHz, 1350 MHz, 1500MHz
What is the best possible lowest processor frequency so that my phone does not reboot or freeze?
Also how can I enable hotspot in ultra power saver mode.
IMO the lowest network frequency setting depends on what network frequency band is used: GSM and/or HSDPA and/or LTE.

Only a false undervolting can lead to a freeze / reboot: the mentioned clock frequencies are stock ones hence none of these will lead to a freeze / reboot, means you can apply the lowest one what is 768 MHz.

The Performance Tweaker app doesn't allow any other frequency besides these 5 stock frequencies. How can I safely lower below it, without changing to other rom or flashing a new kernel.

Hmmm. I once reduced it to the least possible preset because of an overheating issue but that just makes your device too laggy. So, I just don't recommend reducing it's frequency to a lower value. It might even cause crashes...

Also is undervolting possible in android? It really sucks the battery and I just use hotspot, minimally I use other apps.

I've already mentioned that it was a preset(the least one of the 5 you've mentioned). That itself is too bad and making it even lower will be like you're using a phone from previous century. So, don't decrease your processor frequency.
If you need a better battery life, I recommend you to debloat your UI and then keep and check on background running tasks from developer options in settings. Did you try checking the background processes(not the recent apps one)?

I cannot say in general but in my case it did increased the battery usage, and this happens only when I am using my mobile hotspot.
Only during that time, Android OS process spikes consumption.
Which rooted OS do you use, and how is the battery performance for it.

SD888 is already too hot on this phone. You need to lower CPU's max frequency to get a more stable CPU/GPU performance.
You can't because oneplus pro 9 has an annoying thermal throttle feature. I wish someone could / would make a magisk module to disable the annoying excess heat notification and throttling.

CPU is completely locked so you can't do anything other than changing the min/max frequency via a kernel manager like FMK.
The GPU however is not locked and you can underclock, overclock and change voltage via the Konabess app.

Yes and Yes.
FMK is a paid app however there are heaps of free alternatives out there, just search up Android kernel manager.
The version you want is Konabess v0.19 with gradual voltage, you can get a copy here -> https://t.me/adreno_konabess
