[Recovery][J710F/FN/GN/MN/K] [Build 3][3.2.3-0] TWRP for j7xelte (Galaxy J7 2016) - Samsung Galaxy J7 (2016 Exynos 7870) ROMs, Kernels

Team Win Recovery Project 3.2.3-0
This is for the Exynos SM-J710F, SM-J710FN, SM-J710GN, SM-J710MN, SM-J710K models only!
WARNING: Flashing a custom recovery to your device will trip the Knox warranty bit on your phone. Check with your mobile provider to see if they will still cover warranty on Knox bit triggered devices. If you understand this risk, continue on.
WHAT IS TWRP?
Oh come on, you know what it is - don't try to fool me!
In case you're serious, though...
Team Win Recovery Project is a custom recovery for Android devices.
It allows you to back up and restore your data, flash custom ROMs to your device, repair broken file systems, and root your device.
DOWNLOAD
Build 3 3.2.3-0
Older builds:
Build 2 3.2.3-0
I highly recommend using Odin to flash when possible.
You can find a zip containing Odin as well as a link to Samsung's Mobile drivers page here:
https://odindownload.com/
FULL STEPS FOR ROOTING
In your ROM, go to Settings -> About device. Tap 7 times on Build number to enable Developer options.
Now go to Settings -> Developer options. (above About device)
You need to enable OEM unlock, otherwise you might end up with boot problems or be unable to flash later on.
Make sure your don't have Factory Reset Protection enabled in your Google account or you may never be able to boot again!
More information: https://support.google.com/nexus/answer/6172890?hl=en
Extract Odin_(version).zip to your computer.
Install Samsung Mobile Phone Drivers for Odin to find your device.
Download a .tar image of TWRP for j7xelte.
Reboot your device into Download mode. To do this, select reboot from the power menu and hold the [Volume Down] + [Home] buttons while your device reboots.
Once you reach the Download mode warning screen, press [Volume Up] to continue.
Open Odin and place that TWRP tar file in the [AP] slot, under Options tab disable Auto Reboot, then press [Start].
Once the flash is complete (Odin should tell you in the log, and progress bar on phone should stop), you can pull the battery then place the battery back in. Now hold [Volume Up] + [Home] + [Power] buttons until you reach recovery mode.
If you end up in stock recovery, start again from download mode step.
At this point, you will reach the screen asking you if you want to allow system modifications.
You will want to swipe to allow, otherwise the OS will replace TWRP once you boot!
If you want to be rooted with Magisk:
Download the latest Magisk.
Without exiting TWRP, transfer the Magisk zip to your device over MTP* and flash it using [Install] in TWRP.
Go to [Reboot] -> [System].
* MTP, known as Media Transfer Protocol, is the same way you transfer files from your PC to your device when booted into system.
KNOWN ISSUES
You need to wipe Data when on stock ROM
Changelog

Build 3: Fix MTP problems and /vendor (invalid argument) + upstreamed M10 kernel to 3.18.134 with google recommended changes to kernel

I don't know. Its a twrp bug maybe. Also download it again i built it using the M10 kernel now but it also says /vendor invalid argument

...

It is working fine checked it

This TWRP doesn't install Oxygen Kernel. It says "Recovery Busybox Setup Failed."

I have already installed official twrp from website do i have to reinstall fresh on just download a zip for flash without installing magisk plus kindly upload a video for step by step process.
By the way a quick question is kernel 3.18.135 is latest or 3.18.14

If you have other twrp extract the .tar archive and move .img to phone and goto Install on twrp select Install Image and Click on it. Select recovery and swipe to confirm. Done

Hi, the link of the latest build is down, can you re-upload please?

I saw in other tutorials that when in stock 8.1 rom you need to erase all data from internal memory. If i do this, there is no longer a, /system folder so there is no rom and bootloop happens.
Do i need to do factory wipe instead? I know i have to wipe data because Its encripted and twrp cant access internal memory.
Im asking what kind of "wipe data" i need to do

just format data to decrypt
link please

Just going to dump all the info I've found about this device into this thread. All the threads pertaining to this thread are in Russian and I can't read Russian, so this might be helpful to any English speaking owners of this tablet.
Special thanks to Telegram user @SSDD_1744 (don't know your XDA/Reddit user, I'm sorry) for basically spoonfeeding me all these instructions!
WARNING: If you need to flash to stock for whatever reason, be sure to download a image file specific to your country. If you don't, you'll hard brick your device that can only be fixed QPST (supposedly).
Rooting:
(Tested on 5.0.2)
Install KingRoot. Let it root your device.
Install Super-SU Me, to get rid of the bloatware that comes with KingRoot.
Installing Xposed:
I used Flashify to flash TWRP. Be sure to flash the right version though (2.8.7.7 v2) or else you won't be able to mount cache.
Then download Xposed (version sdk21 ARM) and flash it.
WARNING: Flash v1 of the modded TWRP and you won't be able install any apps after flashing Xposed.
Unbricking:
Still working on it. Downloaded QPST but have not been able to get QPST 2.7 to read the tablet.

Recommended way to flash ROMs:
1) Download TWRP. Use adb to boot (NOT flash) into TWRP. Flash ROM there.
2) use KingRoot to root. Use Flashify to flash the ROM.

I see that Lineage OS is supported on Z380KL. However, I found the wiki spec showing Snapdragon 410, but I found Z380KL in Asia with Snapdragon 615. Before I commit, I'd like to know if anyone knows whether LineageOS is fully compatible with Z380KL with Snapdragon 615 chipsets? Thanks.

Flashing TWRP on 6.0.1 (Sept 1, 2016 patch):
1) grab your drivers (W10: boot into "no driver signature verification mode" to install the drivers needed for fastboot)
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1cGcoDCvmTxfXWNTG0iOXHw1WScmYBrKS
2) turn on debugging
3) type in "adb devices", verify that your computer sees your tablet (if you don't have ADB/Fastboot, get https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317790)
4) type in "adb reboot bootloader"
5) you'll see three options: 1. Enter SD DL mode, 2. Factory Reset, 3. Exit update mode
6) type in "fastboot devices", verify that your computer sees your tablet
7) grab your TWRP file (http://vasy.ru/TWRP/P024/) and type in "fastboot flash recovery [replace w/ location of the TWRP file].img"
8) once it says "finished", click factory reset mode (use volume buttons to navigate, power button to enter)
9) it should reboot into TWRP, slide to allow modifications
10) Boom, TWRP is installed.
OPTIONAL, BUT HELPS TO KEEP TWRP INSTALLED: Flash Magisk.
That way, stock recovery won't overwrite TWRP when you reboot.
IF YOU WANT TO KEEP TWRP BUT DON'T WANT Magisk:
1) After first boot into TWRP, turn off tablet.
2) Then turn on and hold Volume Up + Power. That will boot you into Bootloader Mode.
3) Go into factory reset and it should boot you into TWRP.
Now, it's safe to boot into the OS.
(TL;DR: Boot into TWRP twice before booting into the OS or else stock recovery will overwrite TWRP.)
Flashing LineageOS:
1) DL LOS from https://download.lineageos.org/P024
2) DL GApps from http://opengapps.org/ (choose 7.1)
3) boot into TWRP
4) go into Wipe, slide to wipe
5) go to Install, click on LOS file > add to queue, click on Open GApps file > add to queue, flash
6) wait til it's done, click "reboot"
7) wait a while (took mine 3 or so minutes to boot)
8) enjoy!

Thanks for the tutorial, I had already dared to flash twrp recovery before you wrote this tutorial...
I believe my bootloader is still locked. And I could not reproduce/ write exactly what I did. But, in my case, just for information, when I want to go back into twrp, I can boot into bootloader (power volume up) and then option 2 reset the device gives me the twrp... I am not sure if that is how you get it, but for me, I still had twrp.
I think i will install magisk after reading your post.

Hello I'm new in the forum and I write from Italy, yesterday unfortunately I had the brilliant idea to downgrade my Asus z380kl through ADB, Fastboot and TWRP from pc so far so good, I go to flash the new rom and gives me error, I try to restore the backup here too error result? Tablet locked the only way to make it recognize to the PC is with ASUS FLASH TOOL ROM problem in format.raw unobtainable not even on the Russian site. Any good soul has the possibility to let me download it? Thanks, Sorry English but it is a translation of the very useful Google translate.

Can you still access fastboot, then at least you can flash twrp as described before in this thread and install from twrp lineageos p024 (lineage-14.1-20180105-nightly-P024-signed.zip) and Open gapps to get google playstore etc , select Arm, (not 64) then version 7.1, then Pico would work.
If you have twrp, you at least can still use your asus... I have found no way to flash original stock... stock must not be flashed from twrp.
Since you mention twrp already used, you can try: turn your device off, then press volume up then the bootloader menu comes, select 2: reset to enter twrp(where it says reset. if you had flashed twrp, that is how you can get into twrp) from there, install lineage os and gapps from micro sd card
My rom is MMB29M.WW_P024-V5.9.4-20170613

I assume this is on stock rom ? What version of magisk would work? I found I can be back at stock with my twrp backup so ..
But magisk 15.3 zip failed to install on stock-
I also used supersu v82 working on stock, or lineageos.
Would you know what magisk works on lineageos?
I like the exsd extension of magisk so I would like to try it on this device, either stock or lineageos

Yes it was. I flashed 15.2 on both stock and LOS. I've heard of some issues with 15.x so you can try .2 or 14.x.

What error was given? What do you see when you connect it to a computer? What does "tablet locked" mean? Would help if you gave some pictures too.
I'm currently in the process of getting the RAW files/service ROMs for AFT but I don't have an ETA on when I'll be able to get that.
No on the tablet I have not installed TWRP and no other recovery. When I go into the original recovery of the tablet there is always the screen with the lock closed at the bottom right and there is no way to show it to the PC even with adb sideload, l 'only program that recognizes me the tablet is Asus flash tool, however, as I have already written the damn ROM in RAW format is untraceable.

Hallo Friend!
I am about to test your guide. I think it is most decent among other guides on the net...
Could you please just tell me if it's gonna work on:
Android 6.0.1 MMB29M
MIUI 8.2.1.0 (MBCMIDL) Stable
kernel 3.10.84-perf-gfe86e7b
bootloader UNLOCKED
Is superSU by default included in the TWRP you gave? No need to download it additionally from somewhere?
What about warning about "dm-verity" on official TWRP website?
This device uses dm-verity!
This means that swiping to allow system modifications will prevent you from being able to boot if you are using the stock kernel. In order to bypass dm-verity's boot prevention, you will have to install a kernel that has dm-verity disabled in the fstab.

Should this be any concern that the phone will not boot up again? Should this be disabled first?
Is it better to use the TWRP version you provided (3.0.3.0? not listed on official TWRP website? why?) or the lastest 3.1.0.0?

Ok just two questions then, because I'm not sure what you can't understand. Please explain.
1) What Android, MIUI and kernel did you root?
2) Do you have SuperSu.zip in TWRP 3.0.3 by default? You didn't say anything in your guide about downloading it and from where + what version.

This twrp. Img it's for all the versions but only for mi max. Not the prime . This twrp doesn't contain superSU. If I remember correctly. But if on the TWRP contain the super su. Don't say yes. Just flash it like I saying on the guide. Maybe they upload a newest version. You can use the new. I think I put the official website . I will check it.
Ok thanks for the answer. Please check from where I download SuperSu - which version would be best.
Please tell me your Android, kernel and MIUI version that you rooted.

Waiting to tell me if everything went fine with the installation and the flashing
Hey, tried following Your guide to install a new rom last night. Great guide for noobs like me, but it may be worth renaming the thread to something like "How to flash whatever makes You happy on to Your Mi Max". These instructions seem to work fine regardless of what's being flashed. Great job, mate!
So I finally tried it and it was successful for me as well! But I used the latest version of TWRP (3.1.0) and SuperSu (2.79-20161205). Please add a point in your tutorial to upload SuperSU.zip to the phone first, because out of emotion, I forgot... So I flashed TWRP, booted it and then... ups... no SuperSu So I wanted to reboot the phone to upload SuperSU but since only SuperSU patches dm-verity (the thing I was afraid of the most - I told you before), my phone got into boot-loop and didn't want to start. So I just uploaded SuperSU to a memory card, entered Fastboot Mode again with key-combination, plugged the cable, typed "fastboot reboot-bootloader" command and was again in TWRP to flash SuperSu from my memory card.... ufff.
So I would reedit it a bit:
0. Copy SuperSU.zip to the phone/memory card!
1. Go to Settings-About phone-Find the MIUI VERSION, and tap on it for 5-10 times.
2. Go back to settings, sellect adittional settings. click on Developer options, and select enable
3. Find the option USB Debugging and enable it.
4. Download the TWRP recovery from the link
5. rename the file to 'recovery.img'
6. Move the image to the same file where the ADB was installed ( it should be on Computer-> C: -> Adb )
7. Open the adb folder
8. Press and hold the shift key and right click in the folder
9. click on the option "Open command window here"
10. Boot your device on fastboot mode by turning it off, pressing Power and the Volume Down buttons together, and then connect it with your computer
11. First type this command "fastboot devices" to check if your device is into fastboot mode
12. Enter the command "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img"
13. Enter the command "fastboot boot recovery.img" - the phone will get disconnected from your PC automatically
14. Your phone is now in TWRP recovery mode (it takes about 30-60 seconds before FastBoot screen switches into TWRP - wait patiently)
15. select Install Zip and click on 'SuperSu.zip'
16. corfirm the flash
17. reboot your device
18. DONT PANIC IF YOU DEVICE WONT TURN ON. Sometimes need to wait 10-20 secs.
Hey, I just got connected with WiFi and new MIUI 8.2.3.0 MBCMIDL wants to be installed, although the phone is rooted with bootloader unlocked. Is it safe to apply the update? Is it goona remove root so that I have to go over the process again?
So I tried the update. First time it said it failed, second time it downloaded the whole ROM after which it rebooted device and TWRP started doing "something" - I don't know what. After that the phone didn't want to boot, and what's even better didn't want to run recovery (TWRP), instead it went into fastboot. What I had to do was to use MiPhoneDrivers from this topic: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-max/how-to/guide-install-global-miui8-root-t3435594 (including MiFlash 2015, because 2016 version didn't want to work properly on my PC) and follow the instruction from official MIUI website to flash from scratch the new ROM MIUI 8.2.3.0 which I did. After that my phone was alive again. I installed TWRP and rooted the phone again. Now I've got MIUI 8.2.30 rooted. :] End of the story so far. My settings left untouched - icons, wallpaper etc. So that would be the way to update MIUI if they prepare a new one.
Is there anyway to root the phone without connecting it to pc?

[RECOVERY][OFFICIAL] TWRP for Galaxy S9 (Exynos)

Thread moved to https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s9/samsung-galaxy-s9--s9-cross-device-development/twrp-exynos-t3763464.
Changelog:
Note that this page only includes device-specific changes. For global TWRP changes, go to twrp.me.
Mar 16, 2018 (twrp-3.2.1-1):
Add system_image, vendor_image
Rename display name of /odm to "Carrier Configs"
Mar 15, 2018:
Initial version
Guides:
Be aware that Android Verified Boot requires data (including those in internal storage) to be cleared after you unlocked bootloader and flash custom binaries. ("to protect user data, all state transitions wipe the data partitions and ask the user for confirmation before data is deleted." - https://source.android.com/security/verifiedboot/verified-boot)
It is normal to get prompts like "Integrity verification failed. You have to reset the device to factory settings."
However, this will only happen when there is "state transition" so only when you switch from locked to unlocked or vice versa.
Part 1 - HOW-TO FLASH TWRP:
1. In your ROM, go to Settings -> About device. Tap 7 times on Build number to enable Developer options.
2. Go to Settings -> Developer options and enable OEM Unlock option.
Notice: This is "state transition" mentioned eailier.
3. Download and Install Samsung Mobile Phones Drivers.
- Option 1: Download and Install Smart Switch for PC.
- Option 2: Download and Install standalone driver package.
4. Download and extract Odin (Samsung's Flash Tool) to your computer.
5. Download a .tar image of TWRP.
6. Reboot your device to download mode.
- Hold [VOLUME DOWN] + [BIXBY] + [POWER] for approx. 15 seconds.
- Read the warning carefully.
- If you agree, press [VOLUME UP] to get into Download mode. If you don't agree, STOP.
7. Open Odin and place that TWRP tar file in the [AP] slot.
8. Connect your phone.
9. Hold [VOLUME UP] + [BIXBY] + [POWER] on your phone and then press start on Odin.
10. Wait for the phone to reboot. DO NOT release [VOLUME UP] + [BIXBY] + [POWER] or you may not reboot into TWRP.
Part 2 - HOW-TO INITIALIZE TWRP: (for new phones)
1. If you completed Part 1 successfully, you should be in TWRP now. At this point, you will reach the screen asking you if you want to allow system modifications.
2. Select "Keep /system RO". (Don't swipe right or you may not be able to boot into system if you failed to complete next steps. However, you can swipe right to allow modifications if you are confident that you can complete next steps.)
3. Go to "Wipe" menu of TWRP and you will find "Format Data". Press "Format Data" and type "yes" to continue.
4. Go to "Reboot" menu and Press "Recovery" to reboot TWRP.
5. Download the special dm-verity and force encryption disabler zip on your computer.
6. Transfer the zip to your phone.
- Option 1: MTP: Connect your phone with computer and just copy the zip to internal storage. (similar to how you transfer files when in system.)
- Option 2: ADB: Connect your phone with computer and run command "adb push /path/to/zip /sdcard/".
- Option 3: External SD: Copy the zip to an external SD and then insert the card to your phone.
7. Go to "Install" menu of TWRP and flash the zip.
TWRP is initialized and fully functional at this stage.

In theory you can, but so far no one including myself has been able to root from this.
See this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s9/development/twrp-samsung-s9-t3763548/
I wiped my data for nothing!
Wow that was fast twrp already.
Nice work Jesec and thank you:thumbup:
Now lets see how long till some dummy asks if it works on the snapdragon lol
sent from my Pixel 2 XL or Note FE
@jesec if this twrp is becoming the official one I suggest you to include some of my features/fixes as for example img flash to specific partitions, OTG fix and more (also people on the s9+ thread reported that usb wasn't working), check my device tree here.
Have a nice day!
Can we flash SuperSU/Magisk instead of the dm-verity disabler? To root as well as for disabling dm-verity at the same time?

I will review the changes.
After following the instructions exactly in the OP, I flashed SuperSU v2.82-SR5-20171001224502. My S9 is rooted and everything is working great!
Thanks

Will we see a kernel of yours ?
I mean after the news that AOSP GSI images are booting, one of the greatest kernel developer coming to S9 would be like the cherry on the top.

Ah, thanks for correcting me
I've had a few issues with FRP randomly being triggered and not allowing TWRP to boot at all. Still not sure what causes it (might be because I changed my google account password) but I've successfully been able to reflash stock without losing the data partition, so you can re-root without losing anything. Had to remove the USERDATA image from the stock AP tar file to not wipe USERDATA tho.

[SIMPLE] Guide to Root your device (without TWRP)

Hi All
Note: This procedure is for Windows PC only.
I can see there is a similar thread to help on rooting your device.
I created this thread it make it more easier and focussed just on rooting your device rather with additional information.
This menthod is to root your device without TWRP.
There is a detailed guide by @Freak07 which you can find here.
Prerequisite:
1. Your device bootloader is unlocked
2. You have enabled your Developer Options and enabled USB debugging (Settings > System > About phone > Software information, tap build number 7 times to enable Developer options)
3. Flash Tools, download from here and extract to your PC
4. Latest Magisk Manager which you can download from the relevant thread (search or click here)
BOOT IMAGES
Stock Boot images:
Firmware WW_16.1220.1906.174_0 >>>> Click here
Firmware WW_16.1220.1908.189_1.1.1 >>>> Click here
Patched Boot images:
Firmware WW_16.1220.1906.174_0 (patched with Magisk 19.3 stable version) >>>> Click here
Firmware WW_16.1220.1908.189_1.1.1 (patched with Magisk 19.3 stable version) >>>> Click here
Steps to Root:
1. Connect your device with USB cable
2. Go to the folder where you copied Flash Tools and double click to run cmd-here.exe
3. In the command prompt run the command adb devices, this will run the Deamon and show your device under List of devices attached. If doesn't show your device, check your device is connected and USB debugging is enabled.
4. Now run the command adb reboot bootloader to boot your device in to Fastboot mode
5. Now flash the patched boot image with the command fastboot flash boot magisk_patched.img
Restart your device with the fastboot command fastboot reboot and enjoy your ROOTED device
It works great, thanks!!
But then I installed miracast magisk module and now everytime I flash magisk patched boot, my phone is stuck on Asus logo so I have to flask stock boot to use my phone.
I think I should flash system image but when I unzip firmware from Asus site ( https://www.asus.com/Phone/ZenFone-6-ZS630KL/HelpDesk_Download/ ) on my mac,
It doesn't show any system image (or even boot image), only "compatibility" , "payload" and some other stuff.
Can you tell me what I am doing wrong?

Hi ASUS firmware for Zenfone do not have system img and instead it is the payload.bin which holds all system files. You can extract system image using python based tools.
You can remove the module if you flash TWPR and using file manger in TWRP to remove magix folder. This will remove magisk completely. Or, reset system via stock recovery. Completely switch off your device. Now, press and hold volume up button and press power button. It will help you to boot in to stock recovery. Or you can follow the guide here
If you still want to flash stock firmware, this link may help.

Yes you do. But you will not loose the files and folder in internal storage like photos etc..
You have to install all user applications again.
I would suggest you to follow the thread to flash TWRP and just remove magisk folder in TWRP file manager.

You can boot in to TWRP without permanently flashing it.
Take few cautions before you attempt to boot in to TWRP using this option,
1. Remove fingerprint in security settings (settings > Security & lock screen > Fingerprint)
2. Remove screen lock PIN in settings > security & lock screen > screen lock > select NONE here and also make sure Fingerprint is not enabled in this screen
How to boot in to TWRP:
Download TWRP from here
Use the command in Fastboot > fastboot boot twrp-3.3.1-15-ASUS_I01WD.img
Now you can use file manager in TWRP and remove magisk folder. You have to mount system folder to do so.

yes. I can see that there is an installer (magisk module) which has to be flashed in magisk in order for TWRP to write on data partition.
In your case, you cannot boot your device with rooted image as you have a module which is causing bootloop. Catch 22 sistuation.
In this situation I think you have only one option left which is resetting your device loosing all installed apps. Sorry mate. Could not help you at this time.

Hello Smohanv,
Say I want to update to the latest Firmware that got released yesterday, and I am currently rooted via the method you introduced on the first page with firmware 16.1220.1906.174_0, how do I go about it?
If I do the Manual update, will I loose root? Or should I wait for you to release a patched one, and then do the manual update?
Thanks.

Yes you will loose root. Why do you go for build 171 when 189 is available now.

- Some of functions may not work on rooted device, some function may get back with un rooting, some may never.
- All your data on device will be lost
- Flashing custom binaries may brick (Usually soft but can be hard brick too) your device, so follow it on your own risk!
If you are ready with condition, move further -

Important : Since android Q, there is changes in rooting process, specially if you needs root with TWRP, So here I am dividing this guide in two parts.
1.Root with self preparing files (No TWRP) - Here you needs to patch stock files yourself. No TWRP installed.
2.Root with TWRP - You needs to just flash pre-patched files, Here you needs to have ROM installed same base as per files available. Though mostly latest verson will be available.
PART 1 : (Root Pie/Q base with magisk with patching files yourself, No TWRP)
Before moving to root device, must read every single instruction given below as any small mistake can lead to fail to achieve root or may brick the device.
A.Preparing Root files
You need to patch file to flash using Odin to root device.
1. Download stock firmware for your device (google search will give you many sites to download it) some common are e.g. Sammobile, Samfirmware tool)
you need to download file according your region and model (Dial *#1234# will give you details of existing firmware, download accordingly)
2. Once you finish download, extract files and keep all files on PC. From extracted files a file with name AP_[device_model_sw_ver].tar.md5 copy to your device.
3.Download Latest Magisk Manager and Install to your device
4.Open Magisk Manager - Magisk (first one) - Install - select to "Select and Patch file" - Navigate file you have copied to device (AP_[device_model_sw_ver].tar.md5)
5.Magisk Manager will patch the whole firmware file and store the output to [Internal Storage]/Download/magisk_patched.tar
6.Copy patched file magisk_patched.tar to Your PC
7.Download latest Odin (one is attached to end of this post) and extract to a folder on PC (I recommend on desktop)
Now next step is to modification on device
B. Unlocking Bootloader
This is a basic step to root device. Go to settings - about phone - Software Information - tap multiple times on "Build number" - This will open developer option.
Now in settings at the end, you will have new option "Developer options" - look for OEM unlocking - Enable it.
(PS : If you don't see this option then you may need to wait up to 7 days or more to appear or may be on some operator you will get it never. Without this option you can not root your device, sorry!)
Once you have enable OEM unlock option, switch off your device and reboot to download mode.
To put device in download mode - Press Volume Up & then Press Volume Down (Keep holding both) and connect device to PC with USB cable
When device start to download mode, long press volume up to unlock the bootloader. This will wipe your data and automatically reboot
Now let finish setup and again enable developer options (as said above), and confirm that the OEM unlocking option exists and grayed out!
If it is not then you can not root device!
Once you see this option and greyed out, you are ready to flash custom binary and root your device
C.Installation (Flashing) custom binaries
1. Switch off the device and reboot to download mode (As said earlier) and select volume up to continue
2. Open Odin (downloaded from above instruction) as administrator
Select magisk_patched.tar file you have patched (as above instruction copied to PC) for AP tab of Odin
Select BL,CP and CSC file (Extract from stock firmware you have downloaded) with according respective tab of Odin (This is important, DON'T flash only magisk_patched.tar )
3.From Odin option - uncheck Auto Reboot option
4.Now start flashing and wait till it finish. When you see a PASS sign on Odin, disconnect device.
Now magisk is successfully finished but yet you need to follow instructions below.
D. Factory reset & Boot with magisk
After disconnecting device, keep holding Vol down + Side key to exit from download mode.
Here is very important - when you see device reboot As soon as the screen turns off, immediately press Volume Up + Side Key to boot to recovery partition. continue pressing the volume up button until you see the stock recovery screen.
In the stock recovery menu, use volume buttons to navigate through menus, and the power button to select the option. Select Wipe data/factory reset to wipe the data of the device.
Select Reboot system now, and immediately press Volume Up + Side Key. After seeing the bootloader warning screen, release all buttons so it can boot to the system.
The device will automatically reboot for the first time it boots. This is completely normal and done by design. After the device is booted up, do the usual initial setup. You shall see Magisk Manager in your app drawer; if not, manually install the APK you downloaded and continue to the next step. The app would be a stub and it shall automatically upgrade to the full Magisk Manager when you open it.
Magisk Manager will ask to do additional setups. Let it do its job and the app will automatically reboot your device.
Voila! Enjoy Magisk
PART 2 : (Root Q base with TWRP)
This requires to have your device on same base as per base of pre-patch files. I am giving link below of my ROM
http://www.mediafire.com/folder/d4ugie4yadxu6/N975F - Click link - First select your device (N970/N975/N976) - download file Instructions_Root_TWRP_BootloopFix.pdf
This file have complete details about how to root with stock recovery/TWRP. Also all required patched files will be available in "Q" folder of your device section,
Also "Q" folder have file BASE_N97*.txt - Name of this file indicates Model and base used for patched files, you should have same base installed.
Important :
Due to the fact that some devices no longer uses ramdisk in boot images, Magisk has no choice but to be installed in the recovery partition. For these devices, you will have to boot to recovery every time if you want Magisk. Since both Magisk and recovery lives in the same partition, what you actually end up getting when you choose to boot to recovery will be determined by how long you press volume up.
(Powering up normally) → (System with NO Magisk)
(OEM Recovery Key Combo) → (Splash screen) → (Release all buttons) → (System with Magisk)
(OEM Recovery Key Combo) → (Splash screen) → (Keep pressing volume up) → (Actual recovery)

Done.
We strongly recommend to make EFS backup as soon as you root device and store it to safer place

Development can't go without this.
We developer need to risk it. No way.

I'm assuming this is for Exynos version ONLY?
No where do I see this prerequisite posted anywhere but has always been in the past.

So far with the SD when you go into developer mode there is no OEM unlock and I doubt it will show up later.
Don't know what is wrong. I have OEM turned on, Downloaded latest magisk manager, flashed all 4 parts. It did not work. If I flash stock, all is fine. Any clues ?
