[CLOSED]Force Unlocking Bootloader on Nokia 6.1
Hey, I have been searching for an answer to this for quite a while, and I've found some information. Before you start bashing me in the comments, I do know that Nokia has disabled unlocking bootloaders on certain devices. My question is, is there...
forum.xda-developers.com

In the end I thought it had worked but it didn't - I had to go to
oem bootload unlock https://www.techmesto.com/guide-unlock-bootloader-nokia-android-phones/
Download official Nokia USB Drivers (ADB, Fastboot & others)
HMD Global is making Nokia branded phones for a few years now. However, there is still no official webpage at Nokia.com from where you can download device drivers. On most Nokia phones, the Nokia USB drivers come bundled. A CD ROM will show on the computer when you connect the phone. The Nokia...
www.techmesto.com
So they only give away a few free unlocks per day. If I remember correctly they're based East Coast US time, so I made sure I was online around midnight EST, and got a free unlock. I had to try quite a few times, and it didn't work until a while AFTER midnight, (maybe around 10 to 15 mins after).

Hi,
I too own a Nokia 6.1 (TA-1089) model and have successfully rooted it.
Here are the steps I followed:
Download and install "adb and fastboot" tool on your system
Follow this Boot loader unlock guide by Techmesto and ensure your boot loader gets unlocked properly.
Many guides recommend using TWRP, but I say use "Magisk" (basis my personal experience)
Download the latest version of Magisk from this another guide by Techmesto and follow the steps listed under "Root method #1."
Few Special Pointers:
If in case you're unable to find any relevant "Magisk patched boot images" for your device, you can opt for "Root method #2" listed in the above guide.
I would highly recommend that you "DO NOT USE" TWRP V.3.3.1 as suggested in the guide. I used that version and bricked my device. So, Google for "twrp-3.4.0-0-PL2_sprout-11.0-20200909.img" file and use it as that worked for me.
Ensure that you're BOOTING into TWRP using the command:
Code:
fastboot boot <twrp.img>
as flashing the TWRP got me stuck on its splash screen for eternity.
The first time you boot into TWRP, it might ask you for a password to decrypt data. Use your phone password" (Example - 0000 in my case) and the decryption will start automatically.
Feel free to reach out in case any pointer confuses you OR you're stuck anywhere.
Cheers,
Manu

14 day wait for bootloader unlock?

Is this possible to skip? Can we unlock with adb / fastboot or is that not going to work / likely to brick the device?
Unlock Resposibly
adb or fastboot unlock will only work after 14 days of waiting. It is to allow you to rethink your decision. OEM unlock will obviously void your warranty and applications like Android pay will stop working. Trust me, relocking will not be easy as unlocking. Even if you somehow get it relocked, Android pay will still not work for you. So, unlock responsibly.
Thanks for the reply . I'm really doing it for root access, modifying the hosts file, changing fonts and boot animation, but the latter two aren't necessities.
I don't use Android pay (don't use contactless) but I am a little concerned that online banking will cease to function when the phone is on a stock firmware and rooted. If there's an effective system wide ad blocker I may use that instead.
For hosts file, I recommend dns66, available through fdroid, no root required.
i have found that many banking apps will continue to work with root provided you also have a hide root app installed but android pay is a no go.

Thanks! First I've heard of fdroid, looks very useful, and dns66 does exactly what I was planning on doing.

Hello guys.
For those having bootloader unlock server issue (normally everybody), there's a post on the Lenovo forum that gives the origin of the issue:
https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/P2-P2a...-bootloader/m-p/4574568/highlight/true#M12457
In fact, the problem seems coming from an non renewed SSL Certificate in the Lenevo server tracking the OEM Unlocking requests.
The suggestion given by fls2 is to change the date of the P2 phone to a previous date than the 10 July 2019 and the Bootloader Unlocking process should be launched.
That's what I've done with a second P2 I bought that has its bootloader locked.
I set the date to 10th of April 2019 and the phone is now waiting for 14 complete days to engage the OEM Bootloader unlock instead of the usual Lenovo ID error pop-up.
I'll wait for the process to end and see if everything went fine, but it seems that it should be OK as it was with my first P2 phone.
I'll keep you informed if there are some trouble in the process but I stay confident.
In case of success, we should address a very big "thank you" to fls2 for pointing out the issue with Lenovo server.
20 days have passed since registered. Always shows error.
Unable to unlock OEM.
Don't know what to do...
Hello everyone,
As I have written in my last post, I've used the suggested method of manually changing the date to one before the 10th July 2019.
So, as I've said, the 14 days counter has been correctly launched and I was able to see the counter evolving from 14 to 2 days.
Then I was a little bit busy and I haven't followed my P2 phone until last week-end.
When I tried to consult the status of the bootloader unlocking request, I had the same annoying pop-up telling me there's a problem with my account.
The date was fixed to 10th of April 2019 manually, but still had connection error pop-up.
I then tried to switch to current day date of the week-end (29/02/2020), and tried to check again the bootloader unlock status: Annoying pop-up again.
Before giving up, I've tried putting another date manually but at least 14 days after the one I've put when I made my first request and still before the 10th of July 2019, so I switched to 10th of June 2019.
This time, when I checked the bootloader unlock request, I've got no error and had a positive bootloader unlock message that told me the phone is going to reboot and erase all user data that are present.
The phone has rebooted in Fastboot mode and I was able to send the awaited "fastboot oem unlock" command from my laptop.
I didn't try to reboot the system and see if the fastboot command will work if I go in fastboot mode by myself, because I didn't want to miss the opportunity to succeed in unlocking the bootloader of this phone.
I let the people brave enough to try if they feel comfortable with that.
Now this phone is working with an AICP Android Q ROM that seems very stable.

There's no reason I've succeded and you cannot.
I'm sure you'll be able to unlock your bootloader as I've done.
If you have some question, just feel free to ask.
I'm trying to unlock the bootloader too. Is there any way to avoi waiting 15 days? I'm still using the Stock Rom by default (Android 6).
According to the last comment in the Lenovo forum, the changing date no longer works.
Thanks

AFAIK, no. You need to wait that. Also there is bigger problem than that which its the unlocking bootloader (server problem). Just you can read above, for no reason you cannot unlock bootloader.

@mahmutpekkara somehow I managed to unlock the OEM. It took me few attempts tho, so I'm guessing their servers are not always operating. No needed to change the date in my case.
Only 3 days remaining, so hopefully everything goes well.
So, after 15 days waiting I was getting the message ''Server sync data success'. I managed to get thru by signing off and signing in again with another account. Flashed properly and enjoying Syberia OS

Hey,
I have been searching for an answer to this for quite a while, and I've found some information. Before you start bashing me in the comments, I do know that Nokia has disabled unlocking bootloaders on certain devices. My question is, is there 100% no (free) way of unlocking the bootloader on my phone, or just in general to get root. I am running Android 9, and I do have adb (of course).
Thank!
Also interested in this ... Don't want to let someone mess around with my phone .. used to do it myself
Short answer, no. By the looks of it there are currently no free tools, etc.
Long answer, yes but not accessible for us currently. There are ways to gain root access/unlock the bootloader on every device. Currently there are some unpatched exploits (that sometimes cannot even be fixed) in the Linux and Android system that are able to root devices, etc. The last few years showed that Baseband (proprietary Qualcomm code), the RAM (Rowhammer, Rampage) and other device features are attackable. Maybe KingoRoot or someone else might implement these exploits in the following years, and we get a free utility to root devices.

I'm quite new to this rooting stuff, therefore a few stupid questions:
I read that with old security patches, before Aug 2018 (was that still Android Pie?) it was possible to unlock the bootloader. Isn't there some way to downgrade the security patch to a version allowing to unlock?
Is it at all required to unlock the bootloader in order to be able to install LineageOS as provided by this link?
many thanks!
EDIT: Can you recommend any working alternative way to unlock the bootloader?

August 2018 would have been Oreo and YES currently you have to roll back to unlock bootloader. It's a PAID service to have this done. @singhnsk can aid you in doing this service. I as well as many others have used him to unlock our devices. You will have to use Team Viewer and let him remotely do his work.
Good luck!!
And actually, the main question is how to unlock? Bootloaderunlocker.apk dont work, it say me "google service error" help me please

[REQUEST] TWRP or any recovery for Nokia 5.1 plus (global) or X5

I have seen a lot of forums about TWRP for 5.1 plus or X5 and they provide links from where to download those recovery files but I am unable to download any due to links being dead. If anyone has one of those files please post here. Please!
No one has it because no one can unlock bootloader and develop TWRP . That's why the links are dead.
Well I am able to unlock bootloader but I am quite inexperienced at building recoveries.

Did you have to pay money to unlock your bootloader?
That said, have you noticed that it seems the Nokia 5.1plus doesn't have a recovery? Updates are installed while the phone is running as opposed to the traditional way of installation in recovery
No, i didn't pay to unlock.
Also, about recovery. It does have one but its somewhat useless (right about now).

I have sold my Nokia 5.1 plus and now i own a OnePlus 3t so I can't show you a proof. Also about my method;
There was a bug in initial oreo that allowed the Oem Unlock switch to be switched in the debug menu and then after initial pie update (yeah i had that phone for that long) you could unlock that phone like a standard pixel {go to fastboot/bootloader mode and type "fastboot oem unlock" in terminal of your connected PC (you need proper drivers and adb installed in your pc)} sadly now the oem unlock switch can't be switched

We can easily go to bootloader by connect the charger to the type c charging port and power off the phone.
Step 2 - Press volume UP and Power button at same time and hold until the Android one logo comes out.
(Android bot with no command pops out )
Step 3- press volume down to confirm.
(Applause , you get into boot loader . )
You can use time procedure with volume Down button for fastboot mode.

I don't have this phone anymore. You can't unlock bootloader.
Hey guys, maybe this page didn't exist before, but it looks pretty possible now to unlock the bootloader through Nokia's website.
I tried it until nearly the end of the procedure but I stopped just at the last warning I'd void my warranty because:
my phone just comes back from warranty (USB connector problem) and I don't want to miss the opportunity to resend it in cas it breaks again
I'd like to try and install LineageOS as per https://www.getdroidtips.com/lineage-os-17-1-nokia-5-1-plus/ but it seems the instructions on this webpage are not applicable since I don't seem to find a working TWRP for my fully patched 5.1 Plus. However, when I'm assured LineageOS is possible without breaking any important features (this is my main phone), I'll consider it's worth it - farewell Evenwell bloat and task-killers! - and gladly take the plunge.
Lineage os 17
Is there any developer intrested in building Lineage os 17.1 or 18 for nokia 5.1 plus ?this mobile has decent specs and is treble supported .It will be very helpful for Nokia 5.1 plus users.
bootloader cannot be unlocked officialy - the link in nokia website is for nokia 8 only.
TWRP is available.
There is unofficial method of unlocking bootloader ($7) pricing because the software that is used to unlock needs credits which is bought by the developer who unlocks the bootloader, if there is any free method , he will update it.

These coolicool phones always come with the wrong firmware install, the simple solution to that is to flash the correct firmware which is plain old RETAIL. Solved. That's for anyone who might have or end up with one of these phones.
As for your phone and since you're in the situation you are I'd flash VZW pie. That isn't the correct firmware for your phone, but you've got a locked BL with VZW on it now and nothing is working. Since your ultimate goal is to flash pie anyways, that's what I'd do. Maybe that will clean up your system enough to enable oem unlock. If you can get your BL unlocked, then you're half way there. Surely by now you've realized that you haven't got many if any options.

You shouldn't flash firmware from other variants like att, etc. However, if you're able to flash those firmwares and not get any permission denied errors then your bootloader is unlocked, which is good. If you have NOT flashed a pie firmware, good, do NOT do it until everything is up and running and you're sorted. If you have, then you'll need to use pie firmware to fix it since once you flash a pie modem there is no going back to an oreo modem.
Run this command from bootloader/fastboot mode and post back your output.

fastboot getvar all

Unlocking bootloader for Realme X2 rmx1993EEA (UK) UI 2.0 Android 11

Note: I am abit confused as to what exactly uniquely identifies the device, adb tells me the device product is RMX1993EEA, model is RMX1993 and device is RMX1993L1
Hello there XDA, I have been having trouble unlocking the bootloader for my realme x2 device. As far as I can understand the only official way to unlock bootloader on Realme devices is to use their apk app submit an application and then await confirmation, which all sounds nice and easy except there is no app that works (that I know of) for the newly updated android 11, although they have an app for android 10.
A simple solution would be to rollback to android 10 except I have tried this and the system doesn't let me do this because I am trying to rollback to an earlier version. I have also tried the offical rollback package for realme x2 from the realme site but this hasn't worked either since it is for models RMX1992EX and RMX1992AEX. I have heard that you could flash the rom in fastboot... but this requires bootloader to be unlocked in the first place - quite paradoxical.
I have tried various solutions using android platform tools (adb and fastboot) and while adb works fine fastboot never works because it is always 'waiting for any device'. What I have understood is that fastboot only recognises a device once it is in fastboot mode, which also requires bootloader to be unlocked : /
I understand that the simplest solution is to just wait until realme develops its next unlocker app, but considering how new the UI version is and that the phone is an older model and so not really high up on their priority list I can imagine this would take at least another 6 months which is quite ridiculous.
So my question boils down to this - does anyone know of a way to rollback my device to Android 10 (without unlocking bootloader) so that I can then unlock bootloader with the official app or does anyone know of an unofficial way to unlock bootloader on my device (possibly a glitch in the system). Any help would be appreciated I have genuinely looked everywhere and there seems to be no hope, I am quite tech savvy (or at least confident and willing to learn) so even a very complex solution would be worth a shot. Thanks again
I know it's already more than a year since you've posted this.
But did you find a solution?
I'm stuck with the same problem.
