Washed up text - Honor View 20 Questions & Answers

So, I'm here again probably receiving zero answers (is there a more active View 20 group somewhere?) asking about the screen once again. I don't use View 20 as my primary, I'm not used to it and G7 thinQ is somewhat simpler to use as a daily driver. Anyway, to me the text color is really washed up looking, especially when scrolling. I'm talking about Twitter, forums and even articles. It's just really bright and the text is gray rather than black. I've tweaked display color settings but I don't seem to get it right. Maybe I'm just not used to it, I don't know. It just looks like there's way too much spacing in the app and way too much white.
You can see how large the gaps are below.

Maybe you have changed font size in settings?
Or you have set full brightness ?
Maybe you are not used to this screen as it is bigger than your other device screens.

I'm probably not used to it, you're right. I have changed the font size and font completely but it still looks really gray and washed up. The brightness is always very low due to this.

I actually did that yesterday but there was no difference. Do you see a difference compared to your device or is it just that I'm not used to their screens?

Download an app that lets you install new fonts on Huawei phones. A good one I use is Font Manager for Huawei. Choose a better (darker font) and then install in using the phone's Themes app.
I had the same problem as you...I find the preinstalled font grey and washed out and not easy to read. I now use one called Righteous and it's soooo much clearer

I just enabled "eye comfort" mode and saw all the symptoms you are describing. Can you confirm you have it off?
and presumably you have gone into the display settings and changed colour mode/temperature (I have mine set to vivid) to something that suits you?

With me, I think it's simply worsening eyesight because of age. One of the reasons I buy Huawei phones is the ability to change the font to something darker and beefier.

Like I said with Rick's new 6.1 (30) Rom you are now in the art department for the Excalibur home screens, with this ROM you can be real creative. You are correct The ROM indeed does Kick's ass............!
Little Icon in My Programs
Does anyone know how to change the small icon next to the title of each My Program app? I would ideally like to remove it instead of having a generic program icon in the title bar for each program.
Here's a few of my screenshots of My programs screen

I changed the system resolution to 96dpi looks REAL nice but some of the system icons look out of wack and the standard system notification icons (the white ones) don't show...I'm sure one of the coders here can fix that for us but I'm waiting for them to reply in the Higher Resolution thread.

96 is ok for a PDA but to high for a smartphone like the Excalibur, which should be in the 82, 83 range, you are not going to have all your Icon on the screen, and the words will get larger. The Excalibur screen is not set up for a 96. I know what you are trying to do, raise the resolution quality, but you got the wrong mobile device, the Excalibur.............!
well the PNG icons work fine, but ur right the system icons are out of wack, I just figured someone would post a dll or whatever that can fix it...i'm sure there is one or 2.

My man... the icons can be found here and the font is good ole calibri. For some reason, I have quite the affinity for this font.
Speaking of which... does anyone know how to isolate and change the font adopted for rendering by Opera. I love scriptina for my clock font, but for whatever reason the change in 240x320.cpr results in Opera being rendered in scriptina... which reads for $%^&.

Contrast problems on the display?

Hi there,
i am fairly new to the HTC and Android scene. Yesterday i got my HTC One X and the very first i noticed is a problem with the contrast.
Especially when it goes from grey to black, there are blocks visible. It is a bit difficult to make a photo of this issue, but i think you can see it clearly.
Is this a known issue? Can i do something about that?

Many thanks.
That's not contrast.
That is an image that seems to either compression artifacts or was produced with too little bit depth.
There's nothing wrong with the phone, it is faithfully reproducing a crappy image.
This was just an example. It shows the menu of a program (i think google maps).
I have also some photos that look the same where a black area goes into a brighter area.
Also some of dark HTC widgets, like the clock show this.
Like i said, difficult to make a photo of this issue:
Any problems viewing this?
Probably you mean these horizontal stripes. They are there when you look at the angle, but when you look straight, they are not there. I guess this is a problem due to technology used and it looks the same on mine One X. Also, AFAIR there are two different displays used in HOX, both from different manufactures and one of them doesn't have this problem but there are some other minor problems like smaller contrast or brightness, can't exatcly remember right now. It also annoys me but generally it is still the best phone screen I've ever seen and somehow I can get over it

these widgets in particular, and a lot of other things are supposed to change colour gradients, the notification bar being another.
just makes it look more fancy/3d
personally i don't think you have any problems except for the colour depth of the image not being enough, and that is why you see that, if there was more depth, then more detail and you wouldn't see that blocking
try switch your pc to a lower colour depth and youll see the exact same effect.

Thanks. I had the same idea and it looks normal. I also upgrade it to CM10 which does not have these grey to black transitions at all.
So no problem there, just poor graphics by HTC.
Thanks

Some Photoshop help with TW Messaging Icon

Hey guys, I'm usually pretty good at being able to figure these things out but I am having some trouble with this one. I have the stock TW messaging icon that I am working on. I have it right now so the envelope is saturated to gray/white and the page sticking up out of the envelope is blue. I want to reverse the colors on those EXACTLY. As in, I want the EXACT white/gray on the envelope to be the color of the page, and that EXACT blue on the page to be on the envelope. I've tried the color swap tool but it doesn't work. I've selected each individually, manually played with it, but still no luck. What I keep getting is a "lighter" blue on the envelope and a darker gray on the page; not the exact colors I want. If anyone would be able to help me out I would be SUPER appreciated and you will definitely have earned yourself a thanks. Here is my .png:

I have been able to get it REALLY close, except my problem there is I have to use the "lightness" bar and I start losing the detail of the image like the lines forming an upside down "V" on the envelope and the "text" lines on the page.
EDIT: And maybe throw in a brief explanation on how you managed to do it. This has been driving me nuts for the past 2 days. And the sad part is, it's probably easy to do lol

I'd say separate them into 2 different layers and apply a color overlay of hue to both with the other color.

[Q] Multi Layer Lettering?

I'm 99% of the way to creating exactly wha tI want, and I'm stuck on the smallest graphical detail.

This is what I've got so far...

You can see I've used a yellow shadow behind the numbers. But what I really want is a yellow outline around the numbers AND a black shadow behind them. I can do either one of those elements but can't do both. (Obviously if I can figure out the black shadow behind I'll use a lighter wallpaper as part of the theme so I can see the contrast)
I've tried putting a second layer of text with the outline on top of the layer with the shadow but it cancels out the first layer somehow. As soon as I put the second Rich Text module on top of the first one, they both become 100% transparent.
See this jersey for reference of what it's supposed to look like...
I'm sure there is a way and I'm sure it's simple but after 2 days of messing with it I'm just going in circles and seeing spots.
If someone can help me figure this out I'd be super greatful.
(The white blocks in the upper right corner are my signal bar, by the way, in case anyone wonders. The last time I posted a screen shot of that in another thread everyone kept asking.)

Could you please check the "Drawing mode" settings on your Rich Text Modules? The disappearing issue sounds to me like it's set to XOR which would result in the behavior you're describing.
As to your problem with multiple outlines: your current solutions with overlaying multiple layer seems to be only one I can come up currently, so I hope we can solve your disappearing layer issue.

You are correct. Setting it to XOR is what causes that problem.
But I don't know how to create an outline of solid color font without using XOR.
To create what you see in the screen shot those letters and numbers were set up as NORMAL drawing mode. To add the outlined layer I was trying to use XOR. But obviously that's wha'ts causing my problem.
Is there a way to create a border around the characters without XOR? Or perhaps to make the shadow larger in all directions, rather than just to the left and the bottom?
When I go back to look at the XOR settings I realize I can't create the outline at all. It's shadow or nothing unless I use a font that is an outline instead of solid, but I can't find an outline only version of this font.
If I can't work it the way I want it, it still looks pretty damn cool the way it is. I'd jus tlike to make it perfect.
Thanks for your help!

It sounds like you have the blue light filter cranked all the way up.
Go to SETTINGS > DISPLAY > BLUE LIGHT FILTER.
If you don't want to use it at all, turn it off.
If you do want to use it, turn it on then, tap it to bring up the opacity slider & "Turn on now/Turn on as scheduled" options.
its not a blue light filter the yellow thing the center of the screent.

We all have it, but it is only visible when a dark theme is applied. It is no defect at all, just the way the display is built.

I see nothing resembling the OP's display yellowing on my Note 10+5G. I've been using mine as a daily driver for over six months & no kind of uneven coloring whatsoever. (Using dark mode)
At minimum, I'd suggest the OP contact Samsung customer service for troubleshooting, if not offer a replacement, if the phone is still in warranty.

Not normal. It's either an overlay or theme goof up... or hardware.
Could be "burn in" if it was a demo.
Start by testing OLED screen and drivers with Screentest:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...+test&pcampaignid=APPU_1_Adw7X7S2KsnKswWP045I
If it's doing it on Screentest you'll need to send it back. You can try clearing the system cache, vid driver data and a hard reset but I doubt that will help.
Samsung Tech Support over the phone is worthless other than to return a device.
Maybe try jscreenfix ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Don't think it's any the playstore anymore, though a quick apk search will do the trick
Yeah mine doesn't have that, had them over a year, use dark theme too.
It looks like burn in, pretty severe.
