Hi folks,
I am unable to switch keyboards. I am running the stock (rooted) Lollipop ROM. I have installed both Google keyboard and Swiftkey, the option to change keyboard only gives me the stock HTC keyboard in the settings. How do I force the switching of keyboards?

After downloading Swiftkey, did you open the app? It should give you the option to and send you to the settings needed automatically to make it your default keyboard.
Swiftkey will walk you through the steps to enable it under settings then changing the default keyboard.

Yep, I did that and the option to change keyboard just lists the one (HTC) keyboard. It's almost like the fact the app is installed isn't registered by the system. See attached.

USB-C alt mode is working fine with the 5G, but I can't find the Desktop mode in the dev settings,
Is it possible to activate it with adb or any way ?

I checked with adb shell, there is no force_desktop_mode_on_external_displays settings
Force Desktop mode is present on V4.09 !

With ROM Common v4.09, force_allow_on_external and force_desktop_mode_on_external_displays are presents in settings with adb shell !
So do you have to use adb to make it work?
I just tried that, and it does sort of work, but there is no actual desktop mode installed, so it's very buggy and doesn't work well or look good. The only way to control the "desktop" screen is with peripherals, like a mouse and keyboard, as there is no touchpad-like interface on the phone. If you do have all that, and you have enabled "Enable freeform windows" and "Force activities to be resizable", all apps should work.

Yes, with ADB
adb shell
settings put global force_desktop_mode_on_external_displays 1
settings put global force_allow_on_external 1
Reboot the phone and it's ok
You can install Sentio to have a full desktop environment, but with sentio, you have to disable force_desktop_mode_on_external_display (force_desktop_mode_on_external_display 0) to get it work properly

Sentio app, or the XDA apk Lawnchair are desktop like apps that work good
I have also tried with UserLand and it works like a charm

Yes, true, but you have to set it as your default launcher to work properly, and the 5G doesn't allow you to do that yet. I haven't gotten Lawnchair or Sentio to display properly on the second screen.

You don't need to set Sentio as default launcher, for me it's really working great, i can work like i used to work with a PC
Sentio launches when you connect a new screen and set the display in landscape mode and with second screen the display is resized

Simply question: I want to remove the google assistant in the bottom corners of the homescreen, so i go settings>apps & notifications>default apps>assist & voice input>assist app and i select none and till here nothing to say. The problem is that everytime i reboot or switch off the phone, google assistant return as default app instead of "none" and it's a lot weird. There's a way to definitely remove the app? i don't want to uninstall or disable it, only remove from the corners. Maybe a fake app to put there instead of google. Thank you!

If you're rooted, just freeze it with titaniumbackup. If not rooted, use adb to disable.
Edit... N/m Check the launcher settings? I use nova launcher so never seen it.
Which os are you on?
when I follow that route (settings>apps & notifications>default apps>assist & voice input>assist app) I just have Google, no option for "none".
i use the MS launcher and I've never had the Google assistant on the home screen, switched back to the 1+ default and it wasn't there either
I'm on stock oos 10.0.12, I've taken a screen.. and I'm using Nova launcher

I've said I don't want to disable it because I think it could give problems
EDIT: See now from PC that your sentence was crossed out. I'm using nova too, is there a setting inside launcher that i don't see?

I'm not sure.. I have mine set to 'none' as I don't use the assistant. I haven't had any issues. In fact, it's been that way since I set up the phone some 9 months ago.
ATV Launcher is (as far as I know) the only one Launcher for android tV which has such lot of customization options.
Would like to see if there are other users of this launcher.
Would like to know which apps widgets works on this Launcher.
I am using it on my Android TV, excellent launcher, a few widgets working.
I got only weather widget working (beside the included ones).
Would like to have:
-calendar widget
-network speed widget

But I have one problem in my TV, there's no settings to make ATV or any other launcher as default launcher. Clicking on home button also not asking to make it default. ATV launcher is working as any other app instead of a launcher.

That is so impressive! Respect. Is it possible to make a script that will take a standard ATV launcher install and grant the binding for using widgets and include a collection of useable widgets?

I got "Calendar Widget Month + Agenda" from the play store working great. I set them as 2 separate transparent widgets.

I got "transparent clock & weather" working. It has about a dozens different widgets.

I used launcher manager, a app routinely used with Wolf launcher to get the system prompt when you push home button for which launcher do you want to use. However when I picked ATV and set always, all the application icons on ATV turned to ghosted rectangles with no labels. Used launcher manager to get back to system launcher but home button was screwy to the point I uninstalled both ATV and launcher manager. Back to square zero.

I discovered the nivea version of launcher manager is for version 9.

That's happened to me but rebooting the device resolved it, only seems to happen when first setting it with launcher manager.
Does anyone have ATV pro? I purchased it for the additional features which seem good, but I have issues that the free version doesn't have. I set widgets off on both versions and with the free version if I press up when on the top row of apps, no app is selected, which I like. But with the pro version, it stays stuck on the top row. Also there is an issue with selecting files despite giving permissions. So if I want to customise an app icon with my own image, the file picker shows up blank with nowhere to navigate to. The same issue happens when trying to set a wallpaper. These issues don't happen with the free version. I tried contacting the developer via Google Play listing, but looks like my email is bouncing back. It's the same on both my devices - Chromecast with Google TV and MeCool KM9 Pro.
[oneplus 9 pro]The app I want to set as default doesn't show up in the list when setting default messaging app, it seems to only have one choice(system default). Does anyone know how to change that?
